good morning everyone. have a good tuesday.

dutchgirl 12-22-2009 08:07 AM

Hey everybody, If there is snow and ice on the ground, please don't forget our feathered friends. I put a tray of seeds and nuts in a sheltered spot and the birds are coming for it in droves. I have had blackbirds, coaltits, robins, wrens, sparrows, thrushes and of course the ubiquitous pigeons.
They need our help, people!

EZMONEY 12-22-2009 09:23 AM

Slept right through my 8 seconds....son sure has a nice new bed here.

Slashnl 12-22-2009 11:39 AM

Dang... where did my 8 seconds go?

I'm feeding the birds, dutchgirl! I love the little finches. I guess it is ok if the starlings get some too. :)

cathydoe 12-22-2009 01:32 PM

Okay...did I miss something? What is up with the 8 seconds? Please advise!

I will not waste my 8 seconds trying to explain it to you....;)

EZMONEY 12-22-2009 02:01 PM

go back and read "ruth".....

cathydoe 12-22-2009 02:05 PM

Okay...I get it! The thread went to page 11 and I missed the end of page 10. The days are going to get longer! Spring is on its way! Hoot!!

bargoo 12-22-2009 04:15 PM

Spring may be on its way but I don't expect to see it for a few months.

ButterFly49 12-22-2009 04:42 PM

HI Ya'll, I spent my 8 seconds counting calories. I went over on both. Boo.

mrsaugie 12-22-2009 07:18 PM

Those extra 8 seconds did not make any more difference to me. Still way to busy for any thing. not enough hours in the day.

EZMONEY 12-22-2009 08:05 PM

There are plenty enough hours in the day MRSAUGIE....

just not enough days in the week

cathydoe 12-22-2009 10:59 PM

It is 11 p.m. here in TN (I know, cuz all the clocks are going off...my bil loves clocks!) I am tired and HUNGRY...so I am just gonna go to bed. Good Night.

dutchgirl 12-23-2009 01:35 AM

Good morning everybody!

BillBlueEyes 12-23-2009 06:18 AM

415 . . .

How many seconds do I get today?

Get back to me quickly, SVP; I've a busy day planned with a little catch-up required before the adult kids arrive tomorrow. I need all the help I can get.

. . . 85 to go.

.

Ruthxxx 12-23-2009 07:17 AM

I goofed. Yesterday was 5 seconds longer than the 21st. Today is 8 seconds longer. Tomorrow you get an extra 11 seconds. Don't spend them all at once.

EZMONEY 12-23-2009 08:38 AM

Well FINE....

I'll give back 3 seconds then....

BILL...do the math for us will ya?....

Ruth is just too busy taking care of those in need to worry about time....:)

Slashnl 12-23-2009 10:30 AM

So, if we're over by 3 seconds from yesterday, can we just go with 5 today and make up for it? :)
Only 2 more days until Christmas. OMG. I have so much to do yet. Freaking out a little today.

mrsaugie 12-23-2009 11:36 AM

Good morning.

Going to be starting the the Christmas house cleaning since EVERYONE is coming here. My mom and sister are coming tomorrow for dinner then on Christmas Day DH's family is coming for brunch. So twice the cleaning twice the cooking twice the mess. What am I getting myself into this year?

MoveMoveMove 12-23-2009 12:54 PM

I'll help stop the mercy killing. No Ruth No.

Boy am I glad we we drew names this year. I only have to buy one present and I STILL haven't done that yet. Grocery shopping tonight. Maybe I can find the perfume I need at the grocery store.

HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY

cathydoe 12-23-2009 01:22 PM

You could get a gift card at the grocery store!

My family has all left the house...so there is only my dh and I here. They went to look at cars...I was lucky and stayed back! Yeah...quiet...I can only here the fridge running and the tick tocks of the clocks...

dutchgirl 12-23-2009 02:25 PM

Hmmm, that's the second time you have mentioned those clocks, Cathy.
Get the feeling they are going to drive you nuts in the next couple of days?

Ruthxxx 12-23-2009 05:15 PM

Well, I have my goodie baskets all made up and ready to deliver tomorrow. I have a bit of fancy cooking to do tomorrow's party and one garland that may or may not get put up. I really think I'm ready.

Right now I'm going to sip a Scotch enjoying the tree and listen to the Christmas Oratorio. Some composer, that Bach guy!

Yeah I am wondering the same thing. Lucky I can't hear them in my bedroom. But this afternoon I was laying on the couch trying to relax when the top of an hour came...I counted 6 DIFFERENT bells or chimes or whatever. Hummmm I'll try not to mention them anymore.

Tic-Toc

ronni62 12-23-2009 07:54 PM

My MIL has a similar fascination with clocks, only hers are those ones that have animal sounds on the hour. She has birds, dogs, cats, & horses and has them set to go off consecutively so we can all hear all of the sounds separately:dizzy:

EZMONEY 12-23-2009 10:42 PM

don't talk to me about clocks...

power went out twice last week...had to turn power off for a bit for the termite guy...then the gas....

tired of re-setting the buggers....

dutchgirl 12-24-2009 01:22 AM

Ronni, that sounds... awful, actually!!! Having all of Old McDonalds Farm every hour on the hour - horrendous. Does that happen all night as well?
My BF has a cuckoo clock and whenever I stay with him I make him turn it off, the ticking alone drives me buggy, never mind that demented little bird popping out every hour to hoot at ya!
Ruth, I'll join you on the Christmas Oratorio, I love Bach.
Have you tried some stuff by Locatelli? If you like Bach, you'll like his music as well.

Ruthxxx 12-24-2009 07:12 AM

Thanks, Dutchgirl. I'll try it out. I may have some somewhere - my husband had an incredible music collection.

It's Christmas Eve and I am darn glad my gifts were all wrapped early. Several "musts" on the list, Church at 7:30 and then a big party here. Tomorrow dinner out of town and then on Saturday three friends arrive from NJ for a visit. 'Tis the season! :xcheer:

I wish you all peace, love and joy. :grouphug:

BillBlueEyes 12-24-2009 07:45 AM

Handel - while waiting

Ruth (Ruthxxx) - if you can't reach your stereo system, here's a neat (free and legal) mp3 recording of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah to listen to while waiting for someone to do their job and finish this thread.

http://www.hallelujah-chorus.com/aud...chorus-9MB.mp3

[I didn't know they even had mp3 during the Baroque period of music.]

cathydoe 12-24-2009 10:33 AM

Christmas Eve! Ho! Ho! Ho! What time does Santa start out? Does anyone know?

We have guests coming over around noon (as they pass through). I still need to finish up some wrapping.

Whoops....my niece just came in and asked me to come help wrap...the department store Christmas Wrap has opened for the day :)

bargoo 12-24-2009 12:04 PM

Am I going to have to spend Christmas trying to kill this ? Operator , I need you !!!!!

mrsaugie 12-24-2009 01:29 PM

If you want to track santa go to http://www.noradsanta.org/ We do this every year with DS. Santa has already started his trip.

dutchgirl 12-24-2009 01:38 PM

Bargoo, Ms. TNT has been glaringly absent lately. Or is she just lurking?
Or are we not good enough for her anymore?
Operator, where are you, woman? We miss you!

bargoo 12-24-2009 02:56 PM

Maybe she is being extra good so Santa will visit her , with whatever she wished for,

BillBlueEyes 12-24-2009 03:05 PM

435

LOL, Bill! Now, I'm just assuming that you probably also started your Christmas shopping today, as well! Such a male......

Dutchie-the animal clocks will go all night, unless DH starts removing batteries-hehehe! Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately;)), we got lots of snow and ice and are not visiting anyone, including MIL, this Christmas-nice and quiet and no sound effects for the manger scene:D.

:wreath:Merry Christmas to Everyone!!:wreath: Hoping you all have a wonderful holiday and that any extra calories :candy::chockiss::cookie: will be worked off as easily as they are taken in:lol: God bless you all!

EZMONEY 12-24-2009 04:34 PM

Which reminds me...I better get my shopping started....

dutchgirl 12-24-2009 04:37 PM

Bill, assuming that Christmas finds its origin in the return of the light (winter solstice, beginning of a new year) the nearest Hindu equivalent is Divali, the festival of Lights, but as the Hindu calendar is based on the lunar rather than the solar calendar, it is not on a set moment each year like Christmas is. This year Divali was in November.

dutchgirl 12-25-2009 04:01 AM

:hohoho: :rudolph: :candy: :ginger: :snowglo: :elf: :xcheer: :wreath:

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!!

:hohoho: :rudolph: :candy: :ginger: :snowglo: :elf: :xcheer: :wreath:

BillBlueEyes 12-25-2009 05:41 AM

Merry Christmas one and all.

And Happy Divali to those who celebrate. (Thanks dutchgirl for that info.)

. . . 60 to go.
