I went to a different store last night and found a whole selection of tofu, veggie burgers, veggie hamberger etc!To bad I didn't have any extra $$!
I'm on day 3, all is well but I've read posts that others have seem a change after only 3 days and I don't feel any different and pretty sure I havent lost any weight either, oh well, at least I'm trying!
Catch ya later!

Hi again,
Welcome Dorrene!!!

I was thinking and reading and regularly tell myself this.. because once a friend said it to me...when we are eating healthy and exercising and taking away all of our junkie habits we sometimes don't feel like it is working... BUT she said if you keep living that way, there's no way it CAN'T work eventually. That made sense to me... I mean how can it be bad for me to continue being healthy minded with food and exercise? Just some food for thought.

Shea, ok ... ewwwww... your experience pretty much sealed the commitment for ME! I will not be eating pizza anytime soon! Thanks for that! And if I get to one-derland first I'll reserve YOU a spot! I think we will be both arriving pretty close to each other. You and I started within 3 pounds of each other and are aiming for similar goal weights (I see I am 3 inches shorter so our goals make sense). It somewhat motivates me to keep pace with you.

Happy Weekend all!

It's me again.

Happy Face-great way to keep perspective!! Thanks for sharing.
Looking at you and Shea's stats, I'm right there with you both as well, except that i wasn't brave enough to put 150 as my goal. You both putting it out there gives me strength! I'm there with you two!! 150 here i come!! Are either of you making short term goals? By Halloween? Thanksgiving? Christmas? How do you figure them if you are?
My DH and i will be going to Rio de Janeiro in March, so i think 150 seems pretty realistic.

Thanks for your inspirations!!!

Dorrene

HI DT,
I have these little monthly goals.. Here's how I mentally set it up ~
Start Date 8/31/06 225
9/30/06 210 (but I beat it early)
10/31/06 200 (will probably also beat it early)
11/30/06 190
12/31/06 180
1/31/06 170
2/28/06 165
3/31/06 160
4/30/06 155
5/31/06 150
6/30/06 145
7/21/06 MY 40th Birthday *** 140

I gave myself 10 pounds a month until I start getting closer and then a more reasonable 5 pounds a month.

I am feeling completely different than I have on any other attempt. On my 39th birthday I just plain decided to do it. I didn't start until the end of August but I got my mindset there. If the weight loss slows down I will accept that but even if I am close by my birthday I will be so happy. I have been very "good" and it hasn't felt hard so far. Glad to have you aboard. Any pacing partner is only going to help!

Hey everyone! Sorry to hear that "treat" backfired Shae! I think this is why I prefer to treat myself with a new pair of shoes! I only did ok today...at home I ate oatmeal with pumpkin and banana, grapes, a smoothie and then we went out to dinner My parents decided on a spot where NOTHING is on plan! The only thing on plan was the tomato soup which I didn't get b/c it had chicken broth and I'm a vegetarian. Boo! (I get so mad when restaurants do this...they say it adds flavor. What? Chicken flavor?? I'm ordering TOMATO soup!!! )So I got eggplant parm w/o cheese which was not terrible esp since I didn't eat very much of it. It came with a salad which I had w/ balsamic dressing on the side (I only dip the tines of my fork in) and pasta which I didn't even eat! Yay! I guess I did the best I could considering the circumstances but I was very frustrated when looking at the menu and seeing so many unhealthy options. It would also be nice to have a vegetarian option or 2! Thanks for lettin me vent! Hope everyone had a better day than I did!

Default Phase 1 Does a Body Good

Hey all, I'm on day 6 and doing incredible. The headaches eased on day 3 and I already feel much less sluggish. I am sleeping better (sometimes too good) as well. Every day I seem to eat less. I think, when the time comes for p 2, I will just add a little meat and fish but mostly stay on a phase 1 diet.

I just had a really sweet treat for my snack.... an artichoke! Finally found some great fresh ones. Jarred ones just taste like vinegar, yuck. A couple other sweet treats for you chocoholics like myself are 1 cup chai tea, 1 cup fat free milk with a tablespoon of splenda or kidney beans simmered in yellow onion and spices!! Or if you miss your french fries... "fry" up some sweet potato sliced like fries in the oven. Just add lemon juice, nutmeg, and cooking spray.

Hi all --

We were naughty tonight. Not as naughty as we could have been. I was certainly better than Nicole was...but it's not a competition right??

We went to Ruby Tuesday. We are both on day 7 of Phase 1. She ordered the buffalo chicken tenders (app. size), a cheese/bacon/avocado turkey burger and fries.

I had 2 tenders. No blue cheese. She had 3.

I ordered the garden veggie soup and the salad bar. Vinegar only as dressing.

She had water and I broke. I had 2 diet cokes with lime (but I did get in all my water for the day aside from that).

The good thing was, she HATED the burger and the fries. She had maybe 4 bites and was done with it and ordered the soup. I tried a 1/3 of a french fry and it was yucky.

So I am glad that our tastes have changed. Although the chicken tenders WERE yummy!

It was a lesson to both of us. We will stay on Phase 1 for an extra few days. Tomorrow we'll be strict as rules and Monday we will bend a bit and have fat-free hot dogs when grilling/camping. Then Tuesday-Thursday, Phase 1 again. We'll officially go into Phase 2 come Friday. We will weigh-in officially Monday morning though, and again Friday.

We're learning and eating better and that's what matters!!! (tell me that when I weigh-in!)

Jenn~ Well, considering that you cheated.. you didn't do too bad. It is strange that our tastes can change so quickly. But, I have to say.. that pizza was good while I was eating it. lol.

Hey Dorrene and happyface~ The last one to make it to "onederland" is a ROTTEN EGG!! lol. It will be fun to have running buddies. Dorrene, I have a goal set to make it to "onederland" by Thanksgiving. Provided that I don't gain between now and then... I think I can make it. I will set another one then.

Mellybelly~ Now you tell me!! Shoes... good idea. I will remember that. lol.
That stinks that the restaurant didn't have choices for vegetarians. I haven't been brave enough to try to eat out in a restaurant yet. I know my limits.

happyface~ When is your birthday??

Wide~ That's great that you found such a good selection of healthy foods. I didn't feel any different during phase one by the third day. In fact, I felt bloated and fat!! But, I wasn't used to eating so much fiber...so that was what bloated me at first. I did end up losing 6 lbs. It will come off... just be patient.

Hi Sherry,
My bday is July 21st. I know there are some months I will be able to lose more than 10 and some less... if I can make my goal early I will be really glad because I really don't want to feel the pressure in June/July. But I'm already happy with how it's going so I am trying not to put too much pressure on myself overall. Once I hit one-derland and get to about 195 or 190 I will really start feeling like I am REALLY going to do it. I have been here at the 200ish mark twice in the past 3 years and so it's really once I break through that area when I will feel like it is happening.'

happyface~ I agree... once I get under 200 I will feel like I have accomplished something. I have been hovering around the 200 mark for a while as well. I got to 175 a couple of years ago. That was right before I got pregnant. I still had 25 more to go then. I am pleased with my progress so far.

I hope you reach your goals. I think you can do it! You are so close to onederland as it is. I am sure you will get there first. It didn't help me to pig out on that pizza the other day. Lesson learned... I am moving on.

Pat! Not being hungry was one of the first things I noticed, too. Good luck to you!

Default Gonna get my book tomorrow

I have researched this diet and tried finding the book most of the week. I know the Borders by my house now has the book, so I'm sure it will be another week before I can get started. But so far half heartedily follwong WW and exercising every other day I have lost this week.
So any tips would be great, or links that would give me enough phase one explaination would be great.

Thanks!
