Hi everyone. I have been on 3FC for a few months now and have read some posts in this forum but this is my first post here. I have a couple of prayer requests.
My daughter who is pregnant with her second child (she has a 17-month old too ~ that cute little guy in my picture) found out yesterday she for sure has placenta previa & most likely gestational diabetes, along with polyhydraminous (too much amniotic fluid). The specialist said Maddox (the baby) looks good, but they won't know for sure until he is born. She will be having weekly stress tests & in 3 weeks they will decide if they need to take Maddox at 36 weeks (she is 32 weeks now). Placenta previa is very dangerous and the doctor was very honest with her about the complications that can occur during delivery - Life-threatening hemorrhage (both mother & baby); the potential for an emergency hysterectomy (she wants more children); etc. Her husband is an active-duty Marine and they are over 1200 miles away from me and all of the rest of the family. I cannot go until July 4 (if I can manage the money for the ticket). I have contacted her local church and they have said they will step in and help where they can. They are gonna supply them with frozen meals for at least the next 2 weeks and help with babysitting for doctor appointments for starters.
My other prayer request is for my ex-mother-in-law. She has cancer (for the second time) and has been going through chemo. She has been in the hospital since Sunday with what they believe is pneumonia. As of yesterday I was told she was not doing very well and the antiobiotics they had tried were having no affect at all.

nurses do well with surgery. That my Dad has no complications and that he heals quickly.

UPDATE ON MY DAUGHTER: My daughter had an appointment with the regular OB doctor (military hospital) to discuss the results from her visit with the specialist (civilian). The doctor did a quick, normal type check up and said "everything looks fine, see you in 3 weeks." My daughter told the doctor that the specialist said that, among other things, she has placenta previa and should be monitored weekly and deliver at 36 weeks and she thought they were supposed to go over those findings and discuss how to proceed with her treatment (and what she should be doing at home, i.e. bedrest, etc.). The doctor said "well, I don't have any paperwork that documents what you are telling me, so I'll see you in 3 weeks" ~ which is 36 weeks. This kind of attitude really concerns me because these people are the ones who will be doing the c-section. If they are careless my daughter and/or my grandson could die, my daughter could require an emergency hysterectomy.
After leaving the hospital my daughter called the specialist's office and asked when they would get the report over to the doctor and they said they had faxed it last week - the day they saw her. She went back to the clinic and explained to them her concerns. They told her they did have her report right there and had someone else look at it. After looking at it they gave her a new appointment for next week, wrote her a note for her husband's unit explaining her complications and her need for extra assistance and that she should be scheduled for a c-section at 36 weeks. They were like, "well, we need to see you next week" as if my daughter was the one not understanding what needed to be done.
Mama P I would feel the same way! Prayers rising up for her doctor to wake up and acquire some knowledge and ask his staff why he was just receiving her results when they had been sitting there that long.
Yes, that's right -- ^prayers^ goin' up for DICK for a quick and full recovery; plus for peace and comfort for him, and his family as well ...
MamaP ~ ^prayers^ going up for your daughter for a safe delivery and a healthy baby (Maddox). I have seen that happen before with tests results that sit around and sometimes the doctor never even sees them, and this was such an important matter. Glad your daughter pressed the issue and finally got some proper attention.

Took my sister to the campgrounds today where we are having a family trip next month. We walked quite a bit...took her yesterday to her last doctor's appointment for 3 months....she is starting to feel better...hair growing back...chemo and radiation finished...a long journey still ahead.
