Hey Lydia that is neat... when I first moved back here from Fort Lauderdale I had to stay in Federal Way for a month because it was cheaper and I was waiting to get into a house sitting situation... one day I walked to Kent and got lost LOL and it was a LONG way home tee hee. You probably know where Mill Creek is, too.... I am in between Bothell and Mill Creek.

My steps for today, Friday 3/17 were 13,577, for a total for me of 280,788.

AND... WE DID IT!!! Yay! Our total is 1,008,181! Yay congratulations everybody!!!

Another neat thing: I lived in Miami Beach for about 7 months back in 2003. I made regular visits to Fort Lauderdale!

All three of my sisters live in the Seattle area (West Seattle, Tacoma, and Kent), so I go back almost every year to visit them and the nephews I do really love Seattle, but I don't think I'd ever move back. I can't stand all the cloudy days. One thing I notice EVERY time I go back: the pine tree smell. Love it.

Welp, I guess we don't need my score to bring us over a mil! Coincidentally, I only walked 3,638 steps yesterday. Slow, slow day. That brings my total to 129,896.

Hey Lydia... of course we still need your score LOL!!! I was thinking... since HealthierMe is working on the Coast to Coast thing do you want to just keep counting our steps in THIS thread and then switch over to that instead of trying to do both? Rather than heading for a second million, etc.? That way we will all be in really good shape when we start heading out of MA LOL. It would be a lot easier to just keep track of one also... and hopefully when that gets going we will be able to get a lot more people involved..???

Opinions?

Too cool that you also lived in South Florida. LOL I guess we are different.. I HATED that heat and humidity, and it killed my allergies. I LOVE our cool rainy winters; that is my favorite time to be outdoors LOL. And the fact that it is so much milder and not so swelteringly hot in summer! And yah we have a lot of cloudy days but the old song is also true..."The bluest skies you've ever seen are in Seattle."

Default Coast to Coast planning underway!

Good morning everyone!

I see we've hit the one million mark. Yahoo Good job everyone! Dance, thank you so much for starting this, and then tracking it, I'm sure it's been quite a bit of work. It certainly inspired me to walk more..and congratulations on meeting your third 100k goal, I missed that earlier in the week. That's great

I have some steps to add Friday:9,241

I'm striving for big numbers today, I got on my gazelle for an hour, early this morning so I couldn't push it off.

The Coast to Coast Challenge planning has begun, I'm starting to map it out, and will try to get a start-up thread going this weekend. Does anyone know how i get it stickied, should I pm one of the moderators? Thanks for all the great suggestions. Have a great weekend everyone!

Dance: Oh, I never said I LIKED southern Florida. To be honest, I hated it. Very much. I do prefer warm temperatures, but not stiflingly hot. Unfortunately, I still have that here in San Antonio. All winter it's been in the 70-80's. One day this month is got up to 95! I've lived quite a lot of places... but my favorite was Louisville, Kentucky. Nice seasons, beautiful weather (not horribly hot in the summer, not insanely cold in the winter).

We can definitely just keep tracking our steps here then switch over the Coast-to-Coast thing. That'd be great!

Alright, I'm off for a nice long soak in the tub. Calisthenics have kicked my butt to the curb.

Yay that is neat, HealthierMe! I can't wait!! And LOL actually I haven't met my 300,000 goal yet but I am getting close!!! Yes, I would think to pm one of the moderators would be the place to start as to getting a sticky. Thanks for doing all this work!! Tee hee I am just "playing" at finding out how far it is between places, etc. LOL. I am sure you know the best route to actually go to get out of town though... <G> I am just going to start tracking the different distances between cities just because I think it will be a fun thing to do LOL.

Lydia I did not like SoFla at all either LOL and not just because of the weather. I loved living in Manila Philippines which is an absolute OVEN! I just thought it seemed very old fashioned there compared to the West Coast... but then I have always loved the PNW best of anywhere I have ever been, which is a lot of places LOL.

Keep walking everybody... we are going to NEED to be in shape for this walk.

ok, so I misread, consider it early congratulationsfor the 3rd, or late congratulations for the 2nd 100K.

As long as you are doing all the research, we might be able to find a way to share the tracking

My prize is a new pair of reeboks, the outlet a few towns over is having a big sale new weekend...and perhaps since I'll be getting such a good price, I'll get one of the omron pedometers that everyone keeps talking about. What model # do people have?

Lydia-enjoy your soak.

Have a great step-filled day

Chris: I have an Omron HJ-112

By the way, do you guys have trouble with your pedometers getting scratched? I've had mine less than a month and I've already got several big scrapes across the front. I already know I'm a clutz, but I want to have company

Oh! I have to go buy a new pair of sneakers today too as mine are shot. THAT should be MY prize too LOL!!!

I don't mind sharing the tracking if you want, HealthierMe... totally up to you. I am just one to putz on the computer and find new ways to play LOLOL. Before we get across the country there will probably be plenty LOLOL. Or if you want I could just email you my research and you could use what you want and toss out what you already have or don't need.

Lydia, I buy the kind of pedometers that snap shut so I don't have the scratching problem. I like them better as they are more protected.

Good morning, Chickies!

My goodness, we've been a busy bunch! We're over the Million Mark! We are A W E S O M E!

My contribution for Friday, March 17 is 6,648, bringing my personal total to 256,268.

Thanks, Dance, for starting and maintaining this challenge!

Thank you, Chris, for starting and maintaining the Coast to Coast Challenge! I think it's a good idea to make it a separate thread. I hope we can get more folks involved, too -- the more, the merrier!

I also have the Omron HJ-112. Honestly, it has made such a difference in my attitude toward moving! I *look* for opportunities to walk now! I feel positively naked without it! Hmmm me... positive... naked... well, you know what I mean!

Mine has nary a scratch, Lydia, sorry, not even a little one. It lives either in my pocket or on my nightstand most of the time. I did drop it once on the concrete basement floor (it slipped out of my pocket while I was on the Ab-Lounger ) but no harm done.

Regarding places to live, I think I'd like the cloudiness of Seattle, but not the mistiness. I rather it either rain or don't -- don't like the mist. Florida in general is way to humid for me.

Hope you all have a great day today!

No problem, Dance. I made an edit to my Thursday total. Originally, before I had the true total for the day, I had posted 3,663. The true total ended up being 3,999, or a difference of 337.

In addition, I hit the wrong digit when posting today (I hit the 2 when I should have hit the 1 in the hundreds column). My true total is 256,186.

I won't make any more edits to posts -- I'll just make new posts if I have to make a change. And I'll double check the numbers I post.

Sorry for the confusion! Thanks for keeping me honest!

Thanks Lena... I will go back and fix it!!!

And LOL HealthierMe... you probably already figured this out but what is going to make it hard figuring the mileage is that they give it to actually down into the towns/cities, when we will be bypassing most of them on the freeway. You may need to do some estimating here LOL... have fun!!!
