Hey
Hey Liz Nice to hear from you.. I am sure that whatever you do will add up for you. WW says for every 20 minutes of exercise you earn a point. I have been working real hard helping my hubby clear some overgrown trees and you can bet I will count them . I won't use the points though. I have been walking in addition.
With everything that has been going on lately in this world ,I need something to get rid of my anxiety. When I get nervouse I usually get real busy. I have been lax with my eating and I need to get back on track. Bye for now....Joanne:) |
Hi Joanne....i never use my exercise to earn points, maybe I should and I would lose faster.....anyhow just got back from a power walk with my 3 year old in the stroller and my 9 year old on the scooter...between 15-20 minutes...feels good, plus I cleaned all day.....I'm with you when I'm stressed I use activity as a release...hubby wishes I would redirect some of my energy his way...... maybe I will:D Talk to you soon.......Liz in Canada

Hey There
Liz321- All men are alike ...What would we do with out them . I have been with mine over 50 years and he is the same as he ever was. It keeps our minds active so we can stay a few jumps ahead of them:devil:
Good for you walking with your children...They may grumbal but some day they will remind you of those walks and they will turn into fond memories. My daughter and son often tell me of things we did when they were small. And they now tell me of things they did that they didn't realize I already knew about.Surprise! Keep up the walking. ...Have a Great day Joanne:) |
Hey
Hey There- I walked 4 miles yesterday after I say the show in N Y stadium. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. The survivor families deserved every minute of it.
My eating had been on and above the border line. Got to get better control. I bought a bunch of veggies today. I love them anyhow. Hello to Lynock and liz, Michaela. How are you doing, Keep up the walking. ...Joanne:) |
Doing ok Jo.....love your uplifting posts!Liz in Canada
|
Hey
Hello Everybody...Thanks Liz.. I like your slogan, What you think about you bring about...So I am trying to think THIN !I weigh in for my monthly weight the first week of the month. Every day I stay clean will be a plus for me, I hope.I like to do handwork. So I have some started for Christmas. If I keep busy, maybe I won't be tempted to snack or have time to overeat. Evenings have always been a bad time for me. I have to break the habit of eating after 6pm.
Hello to Lynock. Babyboo where are you? How are you? Bye Joanne  |
Hi
I walked yesterday. Did anyone else out there do a little walking? Where are you my computer friends?
Joanne:wave: |
Hi Joanne.......I walked a bit yesteday but I have a horrible cold and am just plain feeling sorry for myself.....hang in there Joanne and we will be in touch......Liz
|
Hey There
Hey Liz- It was raining here so I had to walk on the treadmil. I did 3 miles. I thought I would never get done, I much rather walk outside. I hope you feel better soon. Joanne
|
Hello
Everyone must be really busy!! I walked as usual today 3.5 miles. It was a dreary day bur not much rain. Hope everyone is feeling well...Keep walking and working on your good healthy way of living. Joanne
|
Hello everyone...missed you all. Haven't been able to get on line at all. They (the city of Malden) decided to tear up my street to put in all new water pipes...and bury some of the lines..telephone, electric etc. They screwed up...haven't had phone lines in over a week. But it's all fixed now. It was a minor inconvience...that beautified our street. Much less lines.
Haven't done well at all this week, but I've started fresh today....It seems once I get on a roll (eating) it's easy to get back into bad habits. It's also, only 50 degrees outside. I have to go buy more clothes...I have nothing to wear. I only have one pair of jeans in my new size, and 4 pairs of dress pants for work. I have a pair of shorts, but can't wear them..excuses excuses. I am going out today and buy some light jerseys and some heavier ones...I froze on friday outside while walking...but I didn't sweat...one small grace!!! I worked hard for those 50 pounds...and I will not gain them back!!! Thursday...I walked outside after dark...so I thought I would try jogging (can jog for shorter period and gain more points) and because it was dark...no one would see me. I haven't ran in years...well, now I know why. Allthough I've lost over 50 pounds...not an ounce came out of my breasts!! I'm a D cup. Boy they sure are weapons. I did jog a whole block which is about 1/4 mile....I now know why they sell sport bras....you need to be binded...If I didn't get skin tears on my breasts...it was a miracle. The jog itself wasn't bad...no SOB, just sore breasts!!!! Don't think I'll be trying that again...stick with walking..at least until I'm breastless!!! :dizzy:  woops Steven has to go to work...didn't realize the time Talk to you all soon LynnMarie |
Hello
Lynock- Nice to hear from you. I think you better stay with the walking too. You know shin splints.stria, sore knees. I have been a b cup wishing for a c cup. But I would have to gain back 57 lbs to get it and that isn't going to happen. Not if I can help it. I too get on food binges and wonder if I will ever break that habit
Liz ,How is your cold ? Hope you are feeling better. You all keep walking and taking care of yourself... Have a great weekend. Joanne:wave:  |
I have been really lazy lately. But starting tomorrow I am going to get seroius.I am going to start writing what I eat down.I am going to start exercising 5 times a week even if it is only for ten minutes a day.I ran on the tread mill for a couple minutes today.I am on vacation this week so maybe I can really concentrate on this.
how are this going for everyone else? |
Michaela, the writing down of eating, I find is a key factor. I didn't write down for several weeks (hey I lost 50 pounds...I know what I'm doing..I don't need to write it down) WRONG:?: And boy was I. Between eating out at Steven's family this week, not writing down...and not walking cause I only had shorts (which has been corrected) I gained two pounds. Yuck...but I'm back in control again. I also found I wasn't eating lunch...for some reason I do much better even if the points are the same..if I eat more meals per day. If I go for long periods of time without eating..it's like next time I do eat...my body goes into starvation mode, and saves everything!!:smug:
I know that some of you have tread mills. What kind do you have. I purchased a couple of tapes, and am seriously thinking of buying a treadmill. I don't want to give up the walking/exercise, but this is New England, and I already have seen what happens when I don't exercise for a few days. And according to the almanac...we are in for a rough winter (they are rarely wrong). Keep on Walking!!! Liz, I hope your cold is better. I hate getting colds. I'm miserable enough without getting a cold!!! Eat that chicken broth!! |
Hey
Michaela - Nice hearing from you... I agree with Lynock. You have to write down everything you eat. Make a plan and try to stick to it. Exercise is a major part of getting healthy. You can do it
Lynock I used a tread to help me lose 57 lbs. I have a old Vitamaster.(They are out of business in this area) I will get a Pro-Form when this one bites the dust. They often have sales at Sears and other places where you can get them for a good price. I walk mainly outside but now and then I am forced to use the tread. My hubby won't walk outside and he uses the tread when I give him enough flax or it is time for him to go for his checkup.MEN! How are you Liz? Let us hear from you... Good health and keep walking you all.... Joanne:wave:  |
So far so good today.I have only eaten once and last night before I went to bed I exercised for 20 minutes. Then this afternoon I went shopping for an hour.I count that as extra walking.
I hope everyone is doing well. |
Hello
Michaela- Glad to hear you are doing good. I have to weigh in thrusday. We will see how I did this month. I am glad for some cool weather now. It is supposed to get in the 80s though today. Thats how it is in mid Fl.
Have a good day...Joanne:) |
Keeping busy gang! Hope all is well.....I'll be in touch after weigh in on friday.....Liz in candada:?:
|
I did tae Bo last night.I was kinda sore but it was a good sore.My eating has been good today too.
I hope everyone is having a good day. |
Hey
Good for you Michaela.. I walked as usual and my eating was within my points range. Weigh in Tomorrow.. Cross your fingers...:) Joanne:wave:
|
Weigh in was last night...Lost .5 pounds! Steven felt like Chinese food...I did stay within points...but I felt lousy this morning...I ate one fried chicken finger....and it just didn't sit well!! Will stick with chicken chow mein!!! 85 degrees in Boston Today!! But tomorrow is only going to be 60, and by the weekend...45!!! New England has such crazy weather..My beeper just went off.
Good luck all, and keep on walking!! |
Hey There
Lynock- I like Chinese food too..But the salt in it. Don't eat it before you go to weigh in... I weighed 1 1/2 less this month. That is not good enough for a month. Maintance is so hard. I don't have the discipline I should have,I guess. That is what a lady told me at WW this morning. She wgts close to 300, I wt 148????I guess my nose is out of shape:lol: It sounds like you have Fl. Weather now. We are in the 80s. last week in the 60s.
Hello to Michaela and Anyone else I missed. Bye for now....Joanne:wave: |
I did get in any exercise yesterday because I got called in to work and was to tired when I got home. But my eating was good.
|
Hey There
Michaela -Everyday is a new day... So you miss a day, You ate good. Iwill walk with my sister who is down for the winter months tonight. I like to walk fast. I hope she can keep up with me or be a challenge. ...
Get this you all...My son gave me a box of Belgium chocolates. Someone gave them to him. He is trying to lose wt. He said they are too much for him!!Now do you think I am going to eat them? You can bet that I am. Maybe I will try to limit myself to 1-2 a week. Pray for me!!Oh Yes they gave him a jar of strawberry jam from Paris .France. He gave it to me too. I ate a tablespoon. It is so good..  The  is sitting on my shoulder. Bye...I lost 1.5 lbs on my weigh in...Joanne |
I made it through another day.according to the scale I have lost two pounds, that brings me to 211 again. My short term goal is to be under 200.
Did you walk with your sister? I have been getting bad cramps in my legs in the middle of the night for about the last week.I started to take vitamins to see if that helps. This happens everytime I lose weight or any skinny.I think that I am deficient in something. I hope everyone has a great day. |
Hi and Happy Friday!!!!!!.....well finally weighed in after being AWOL for two weeks, made myself get up out of bed even though I had worked nights and only 2 hours sleep.......lost a pound.....so gotta get back on track.......total 41.2 down....have about 30 to go......haven't been walking any great distance but have been going up the stairs at work.......7 flights! ugh!Really feel it though......hope you have a great weekend all and happy turkey day if any Canadians out there like me!!!!!!!!.............:spin:
|
JoanneD, Why are you beating yourself up...1.5 pounds is GREAT!!! Why if you do that every month for the next 10...that would be 15 pounds!!! You could send me the chocolates!!! I don't like them....so they would be safe!!! Thanks for the tip on Chinese food....I weigh in on Wednesdays so If I'm going to eat out...I always do it on Wednesdays!!
Michaela...have you tried calcuim supplements? My MD suggested them, when I was complaining of the same thing...He called it jumpy leg!!! Good going Liz..keep it up. I've been stuck for the last 4 weeks, but this week I lost .5 pounds!!! I'm hoping this is the break!! Good luck all Keep on Walking!! LynnMarie |
Hey There
Hey Michaela - My sister and her friend and my hubby go out to the beach and walk 3.5 miles for the past two nights, until dark. My hubby sets and reads. He is on the tread right now. Are you drinking plenty of water. Bananas are good for you, helps the leg cramps. I get them too, really bad sometimes.
Lynock - My sister told me the same thing. It is better than gaining and I am below WW goal. I just get p.O.ed at my self for not doing better. I want everything now. You'r right about the calcium I increased mine to 1800 mg. Liz321 -Going up stairs is good. Any kind of exercise is good. This is a slow process and we are in this together. Every day is a new day. That is what I have been telling myself all week. The sunset at the beach was beautiful. Every night it is different. Bye you all. Have a wonderful weekend..........Joanne:) |
I want to join the walking club!
Hi everyone
Today I found 3FC and this is my first posting. I would love to post with others that fitness walk too. I have a bunch of weight to lose and I have lost 12# so far. I've been living a healthy lifestyle for 1 month. Walking is my primary aerobic exercise. I currently walk 3 miles, 4-5 days a week. I also strength train every other day. |
Welcome Vivica
I started taking vitamins and eating bananas.Last night I got a cramp but it wasn't as painful as they have been. Thanks for the suggestions. I go back to work tomorrow.vacation is over. My eating has been good today and I have only been having about one diet pop a day. How was everyones day? |
Hey There
Michaela- Good that you are feeling better. It usually takes 3 days for meds to work and 2 weeks for vitamins to be effective. Hang in there and drink plenty of water. It will help with the wt. loss and send you to the bathroom a lot.
Welcome Vivaca- I bet you can give us some new and fresh ideas? I also walk 3-4 miles every day. What eating plan are you using?I am on WW. Lynock- I weigh in on thrusdays so my week runs from then to wednesday. I have stayed within my points. barely. Candy and all. Hope your week is going good. Liz321- This has been a busy week for me too.. I seem to be on the move all the time and never get to some things I need to. Before I know it it is 10 pm at night.I need to slow down and finish some projects started. Bye for now-- Joanne:wave: |
Good Morning All!! boy it's cold!!!
Good Morning All. And Welcome Vivica!! Another Floridian...your can't relate to what's happening here in New England. Friday it was 83 degrees, today...the high will be 50. It's currently 45 degrees!!! My fingers are cold as I type....Hopefully it increases your metobolism, just so you keep warm. I should put on the heat...but I'm so frugal...it's suppose to warm up again by Tuesday...and I don't like putting the heat on much before November!!! And I still have my air conditioning in the windows!!! This is the weekend we usually take them out!!
Joanne D. my week was going good...I'm still walking...I need to get remotivated!! I will continue going to the meetings, as that is half the battle for me. I do good during the week, it's the weekends that give me grief...but I'll continue!! I need to redo the winter recipes. Since I started in March..I was eating light and took all the recipes I make and made them light...now I need to do the same thing with winter/fall recipes...Chicken soup is cool, and so is cabbage soup, beef stew could be a problem. Boiled dinners, are point safe. Soup and grilled cheese are a staple around here in the winter....will have to find a substitute for me...Steven loves them...won't change that for him. I make homemade cream of tomato soup.(his favorite) So I'll make a batch for him...and leave out the cream for me. Bubchi always made two batches...but I always ate the one with cream!!! Old habits (and favorites) are hard to break...but not impossible. Michaela...My MD had also told me to start eating bananas for the potassium. (duh...I forgot) cause now I just throw one everyday into my cereal in the am. I need to make an apointment with him or a podiatrist. The balls and toes of my feet for the past week, are killing me. Two years ago, it was my heels and the Pod. gave me orthotics, and the heel pain went away immedialty..now this. Does anyone else have problems with their toes...How do you (did you) deal with this. Also, for those of you that have lost weight...did your shoe size change?? Well, have to drive to New Hampshire to help Mum & Dad finish up packing so they can return to Florida.(jealously:s: ) Keep on Walking all |
I'd like to join your walking group. Are you ladies open to a new member? I already walk 2-4 miles everyday weather permitting. I live a cold climate so it will be winter here soon. I joined a community center to walk their track for the winter. I just thought it would be good to communicate with others who can keep me motivated to push through the winter and keep my regiment. I make a pretty good sounding board too. Okay ladies what do you say am I in?
Walking is my life!!!!! |
Sure,we are always open to new members.
Have a great day. |
Thank you ladies for such a warm welcome!
I just finished my workout. I had a rather hot, stessful day at work, so I took it easy on the aerobics today. I am a chef( I work with food and I'm trying to lose weight. God help me.) I worked out as soon as I got home. I walked my dog through my neighborhood for roughly 2 miles and 30 minutes. Then I weight trained and did floor exercises like sit ups and leg lifts. After all of that I made a lasagne for dinner with lean ground turkey and fat free cheeses. Hi Joanne... I am not in a specific program, but this is what I do . I keep a food & exercise journal and count calories. I drink 100-140 oz. (3-4 liters) of water daily. During the first week I started on the water, I lost 6# overnight. I allow myself to eat 1700 calories/ 30 grams of fat daily, which is what was recommended by the usda web site to help me lose 1 to 2 pounds a week safely. I am a recovering sugar addict so I have gone almost cold turkey on that. I did have a little wedding cake last weekend. I don't want to feel deprived ever. I just won't buy junkfood anymore. If it was in my house I would binge on it late at night until every crumb was gone. Out of sight out of mind. My friends and family either are thin or are not on a health kick like I am; therefore for inspiration/ information I read health magazines and go online. So far so good. My weight loss stats are 280/268/155. I'm 5'9". I don't care how long it takes me to get to 155 as long as I keep it off this time. That's another story. Please keep the safety of our soldiers in your prayers tonight. Take Care Ladies, Vivica :spin: |
Hey There
Welcome Tazmani77- It is always nice to have new people to give input and fresh ideas to each other. Indoor walking is good . I imagine that it could be easy to fall outside in the winter where you are. I really am guessing as I have seen snow only a couple times in my life. And twice was right here in Florida. Not much at that.
Vivica -I will just stick to WW .It works for me and not so much work:dizzy: Whatever works for you is good. Keep doing it Lynock. I was sweating to death today. It was,Is ,so hot. My air is still on. We are looking for some more cool weather this week. I hope so. I turn off the air and open the doors and windows. I have a problem with my toes, as well as the calves of my legs. I get spasms of the toes where they curl up . Really strange! I have osteo-arthritis. I didn't notice a change in my shoe size when I lost my weight. I have lost 57 lbs. I am trying to lose a little more at the present time. I have about 8 more. We will see if I will be satisfied with that. Hello Michaela....Bye You all..... Joanne:wave: |
Hello ladies,
I just got done with my 2.5 mile walk this morning and if it weren't so cold outside I might have gone further. I lost 2# last week doing my diet and walking. I see you guys are on a roll too. I'm glad you let me in the loop. WOW Joanne you have done very well with you weight loss. I can only wish. Sorry to hear you have some difficulty with the walking though. I know that has to be uncomfortable. Have you thought of sodium depletion as a possible reason for the spasms and cramping. I know that can cause those kinds of symptoms. I hope it resolves itself soon. |
It snowed here today!!!! Burrrrrrr!!!!!
Welcome Taz!! Glad to have someone else who can relate with the cold weather. It snowed here today in Boston!!! Just flurries..nothing stuck...but d*** it was colding walking today.
I've been thinking about buying a treadmill. So after my walk, I gave a call to my Mum (she's packing to move to Florida) complaining that while I was walking today...my eyes kept getting teary from the cold...and what was I going to do for the winter...and that I was thinking of buying a Treadmill. She was like...why would you buy one...I have a new one in the cellar, we can't take it to Florida..it won't fit in the new house. Problem solved. I was really dreading weight gain, after all the hard work. Vivica...Love your job!!! But just think of infection control...can't taste while your cooking!!!. And think of the awesome fun you can have...redoing recipes for a lower fat diet!!!!! I'm also 5'9", started on April 1st, 2001 at 277..down 54 pounds and kinda of in a holding pattern...have been increasin my walking to 4 miles in the am, and the same at night!! Wash just rang off. Chat with you all later Keep on Walking  |
Good morning ladies. It is another cold and crisp day here in Michigan but I got out and walked anyway. I try to do at least 2.5 miles a day I like it better when I can get up to 4 but today I only did 2 miles. After that I had to go to my H20 aerobics class. I love that class. i wish that was all I had to do to get this weight off. No such luck though. I need to walk too and so I hit the trails everyday.
I hope everone here is having a good walking day and better health is within your reach. |
Hi all! Had a busy few days, working nights, got behind in housework, ran around at work, climbed the stairs..........had a great thanksgiving dinner yesterday......but had a major gall bladder attack last night....can't eat that way anymore, not used to all that rich food.... fit the criteria...fair, fat and 40.....sure my gallbladder will have to come out in the next few months......well hope all is well....talk to you soon.........Liz in Canada;)
