Hey Joanne
I finally got into a size 16.I am hoping for 14 by the end of the month.I have noticed that for a every 10 lbs. I lose I go down a pants size. That is my goal for this month 10 lbs. How is everyone doing? |
Hey There
Hey Michaela, It is great hearing from you. You are doing great!!!Keep up the good work. You will get there soon. Are you still walking?I am still struggling with these last 10 lbs I want to take off. My body and stress factors are working against me. I just put a half gallon of choc.chip ice cream in the garbage. That will help. I just keep snitching a spoonful. I walk everyday still. I feel guilty when I miss. Today will be hard. There will be a lot of people that have been drinking on the road I walk on..I go in the evening so maybe most of them will be gone home.
Hello Liz...Bye,Joanne:wave: |
Hi: I still haven't walked but I'm still thinking about it:devil: No seriously....tomorrow is the first day of school and a new beginning! I know what you mean about the pants. I bought a size 12 relaxed fit pair of jeans last Monday and they are already baggy in the butt 1 week later! I do have an active job as an RN so I do get some exercise......ok, I will have walked before I talk to you again  Liz in Canada

Hi
Hi Liz-- I am a retired nurse of 37 years... I used to walk miles a day in my job too.. It just was not the right kind of walking...But ,you know that.Keep up the good work.. I will say as some people used to tell me. There is a star in heaven with your name on it....Bye, Joanne:wave:
|
 Gosh...I've missed being on line with you all. Went up to NH for two weeks, weigh in is tomorrow..so I'll see how I did!! Vacacations are great...but!!!! I did walk almost everyday!! But stupid me...went for a walk in the woods...I know what poison ivy is...but poison oak must look different!!! they started me on predisone for the next 3 weeks...I hope I don't get moon faced or gain any weight from that. Isn't it funny that we are all nurses!!! Guess it goes to show...we know what's good for us......but, better late than never!!!!
Just went through the posts for the last two weeks. Good going JoanneD on throwing out the icecream. I try not to buy those things that I'm partial on. Icecream is not one..and good thing, cause hubby LOVES icecream. And at 195 pounds at 6'4"..he can eat all he wants.:p "as jealous as I can get" Michaela---good job on the size 16!!! Welcome to Liz and Dianna!!!:) Walking was a bit weird this morning....I started at 7am...and kept bumping into kids!!! They are so annoying;) I'll have to start walking at 6:30am to avoid the kids. New goal is to walk twice a day..once in the am..and the other after I drop the car off to hubby. He works 2.5 miles away. This being Boston...I want to walk as much as I can before the snow....kinda hard to walk in below zero weather!!! or on unclean sidewalks!!! My lunch is cooking now....veggie fajiats....only three points!! All the veggies and salsa are free...the three fajiats are the three points..if I add the sour cream or cheese..another point!!! But since I don't know what I way...I'll stick to the three points untill tomorrow. :^: :^: Good luck all LynnMarie |
Hey There
Nice having you back Lynock.. My hubby bought the icecream when we had company. plus a chocolate cake. I was the only one to touch the icecream. I will probably have to pay 9 dollers this week. I'll collect it from him!!I will have to start walking in the early part of the day later on as it will start to get dark here after 6pm soon. The only thing is it cuts into my day. I don't like to walk in the early am too much. I don't do so well then. My body is not ready for it. Predisone has a tendency to make you retain fluid. You can guess the rest of that bad news.
Hello to all..Joanne:wave: |
Glad to be back!!! Pheww..just came in from my early am walk!! Started at 6:45am this morning. Darn, it was 61 degrees out there!!! Just a weee bit chilly! Good for the walk though...I cut 10 minutes off the time, as I as walking real fast..to keep warm..never did break out in a "sweat"!! This summer, I would come home swopping wet...! Almost doesn't feel like I walked.
I dread weigh in tonight. Do ya think I can get a doctor's note if I gain this week?:D Question to everyone, when do you walk? and for how long? or do you measure it by miles? Do you eat or drink before walking? (I avoid drinking until after my walk...well working kidneys, dontcha know) How do you get motivated to walk, when ya just don't feel like it? LynnMarie |
Hey There
Hi Lynock... It is not easy sometimes to get the motivation to get off my duff and walk. I try to keep the thought in mind that is something I have to do. I also know how guilty I will feel if I don't do it. I walk for an hour or so which gives me 3.5 miles at the pace I walk. I walk pretty fast. Now that it is summer and the days are longer I walk in the evening after supper. As the days get shorter I will have to change my time to afternoon. I drink water all day so I am thankful there are bathrooms in the park I walk through to the beach. In the past several years that I have been walking My weight has gone down 57 lbs and my colesterol has gone down over 130 points. I am trying to get my weight down at least 10 more lbs. I weigh 150 but want to go down more as I still am weak when It comes to food , Junk food, Is still powerful. It is not safe for me to have it in the house.
Enough of me...Let's hear from some of the others out there. Hello Michaella.. What's your menu for your weight loss? Bye for now... Joanne:wave: |
Hello all....well it certainly looks as though you are all doing well....I have started to walk ! Only 1/2 hour the past two days but it is a start......I would like to walk everyday for an hour, or at least 5 days per week....I'm not sure if that is realistic but that is what I am considering.......I drink as I walk so far, don't know how it will work as I walk longer.....I push my 3 year old in the stroller but hoping to get out just me, or me and my dog....I'll be in touch.........I think I will go walk now......talk to you after weigh in on friday.......I was sure hungry today, could that little bit of walking have affecting my appetite? Liz in Canada
|
Hi Liz, my Dad used to be stationed in Montana. If I'm not mistaken, we visited Edmonton ?sp after visiting Glacier National Park?
As far as walking, when I first started walking in March...I could only walk for about 10 minutes without being SOB. Now 5 months later...I walk an hour, and still feel fine!!! What a difference...hills don't kill me, and since I live on the 2nd and 3rd floor of my house...stairs are a breeze now!!! Well, after being on vaca for two weeks, lost .5 pounds!! I didn't gain!!:p I'm going to Nigaria Falls and Cambridge Ontario at Halloween, so now I'm not dreading vaca's so much...just have to walk!!! JoanneD, that's quit a pace you walk...I do 2.5 miles in about 40-50 minutes...and I'm tall 5'9". Last couple days because it's so cool in the morning, I've picked up the pace, but have only shaved 5-10 minutes off!! I'll just have to "catch" up with you:s: You'all have a good walk today!! LynnMarie |
Hey There
Hey There Liz and Lynock.. O.K. Lets get going! The weather should be cooling down and I am hoping to do better with my walking. I don't seem to be able to walk as fast this year as I did last year. My husband thinks that is because I am 68 years old. I told him that is just a number. I think taking your little one with you is a great idea. It will instill in them the importance of taking care of yourself at a early age and get them in the habit of exercise.
I lost a lb. It is not what I want to do but after all the company I had and being sick and on antibiotics I will be satisfied. Se you all later.. Joanne:wave: |
:p Been walking!......proud to say, not a long distance but at least yesterday and today.....2 days in a row, I think I'm on a roll.....thanks for all the support everybody.......weigh in tomorrow, wonder if it will make a difference....see ya tomorrow! Liz in Canada
|
Liz,
Don't be disappointed if you don't see a difference tomorrow!! I didn't see any difference for about 2 weeks after I started walking...and then wow!! Good luck with weigh in. JoanneD, wow 68 isn't old!!! Mum is moving to Florida to Largo, in about two weeks. She can't wait to start walking down there. At her house in NH...it's all hills, and although she loves to walk, the hills kill her. She wants to lose about 15-20 pounds, she's tall too, 5'8", and has always been a size 10-12 and recently went up to a size 14, and her blood pressure with it. Both her and Dad, have gained a little weight since he went down to Florida in October. Ya think because the are only cooking for one.....but Mum says she's bored without him...sooo......!! Dad works at the hospital at the base in Tampa, and he's been walking at the hospital (air conditioned ya know) He's getting ready to retire but not until next April. He's just about your age, continues to work until Mum gets down there. They plan on spending the winters in Florida, and the summers visiting in either Oregon, Montana, New Hampshire, or with me in Mass. Should be intersting!! Good walking to all LynnMarie |
:D Hi everyone....well who knows what caused what but I am down 2 lbs for a total of 39.2 lbs....so about 30 to go. Been up and down 1-2 lbs the past several weeks, hopefully this is the push forward that I needed....wallked last night with my 3 year old in the stroller and my 9 year old running behind....I really can walk fast! Was mad at her for sneaking so I told her, "Do what you have to to keep up"and she did great......so maybe we will all get in shape in the process, 3 year old even ran with the yorkie (3 lbs soaking wet) from time to time.....they sure fell asleep fast too! I'm sure my neighbours think that I have lost my mind.........NO I HAVE LOST 39.2 LBS!........Have a good weekend everybody! Liz in Canada:wave:

Hey
Hey Lynock... It is nice that your Mom is moving to Florida. I doubt it is because she is tired of cooking for one. Largo is a nice area. It is about 20 miles south of me. My sister is making the move the end of this month. She move to Ny Over 30 years ago and we have not seen each other very much. One time was 15 yrs. Now she will live in the same town as I. We will have to get to know each other all over again. I feel we will be good for each other.
Liz. Who cares what your neighbors think? You lost 2 lbs and you are developing a closeness with your children. Keep it up ,you will love the results.Liz you know for every 20 min. you walk you get a pt. Hi Micheala- Tell us about your week.I lost 2 lbs. I worked outside yesterday for a couple hours and walked my usual 3.5 miles so I racked up 9 pts. Got to go...See you all later...Joanne  |
I have had a good week.My size 16 jeans are fitting better and better every day.
A friend and I are trying to help each other stay away from pop.We are having a hard time with the caffine withdrawls. One of us gets really bad headaches and the other gets really moody. |
Hi
Hey Michaela ,It usually takes about a week to get over caffien. I tried but still use a little. You are doing well. You soon will be into a size14. I had a pair of 16 in my closet for 15 years untill I got busy and lost wt. Now I can wear a 12 ease but prefer 14 reg. I still like lose clothes.
Hi Lynock and Liz. Hope you had a good weekend. I ate all wrong today and did not walk. I needed a day away from it all. I don't feel a bit guilty either. Well maybe just a little. I will be right back into the grind tomorrow. Bye for now...Joanne:wave: |
Hey everybody!:dizzy: Still trying to get in the groove of the back to school craze....worked days all weekend and a good friend died this morning so it has been a hectic weekend.....hope to walk this eve...if not for sure monday, and through the week at least every other day....not exactly on track with the eating, but really need to sit down and write it down to see how on or off track I am.....I am using the point system at ww......loving it....went down in my point range as of Friday so still getting used to that.........well I will be in touch....no guilt, tomorrow is another day and all that jazz....I have pants of every size from 18-10 in my cupboard, gonna get rid of all the ones that don't fit real soon.........instead of saving them in case I ever need them......I want this to be forever this time......talk to you soon.......Liz in Canada

Hi
Hello Liz- I see I was not alone and out of balance this weekend. Sorry about your friend. We never get used to losing someone no matter how many years we are in thr field. I worken in a nursing home my last 15 yrs of nursing. I was really burned out the last year.
I gave all my larger clothes away about a year ago. I had my sister come in and we bagged them up and she took them to her Tops group. Now I am making new ones. Keeping your journal is a good idea. I try to write down everything I eat. That is a good way to know when to stop. Hello to all . Have a great day. Joanne:wave: :) |
:) Joanne thanks for the note...actually the fellow that died was a very good friends father and we knew him as well, he even helped build our deck.......to make matters harder he was a patient of mine as well.......
Have walked today once and am heading our again right away, I'm walking my butt away but need to get rid of the stomach, some sit ups might be in order:lol: Added up my points and discovered that I didn't actually do so bad, I never add in how many extra's I get for activity either......never have, maybe I should start....... OK, take care and talk to you soon..... Liz in Canada:wave: |
Didn't walk this weekend, due to high humidity (any excuse), but walked Mon & Tues. As far as eating....doing okey dokey for Sunday on....scale will tell. But like you all....don't feel guilt...will just start again today!!!
Liz...good going!!! When ever my nephews are visiting, they walk with me!! Austin tries to walk in from of me, as we always find money!!! I push my 3 year nephew every Friday night...he loves it...."go go" he says over and over and over...for the entire 45 minute walk. If I have to stop to cross the street...he starts all over again. Keeps me motivated!!! Keep on Walking (feel like the old slogan...keep on trucking!!) Lynn Marie |
Lynn marie: Been walking.......short distances.....hungry! Still losing:smug: Take care.......too preoccupied with the bombings in the States right now.......Liz in Canada

Hello
Hello to all...I did not walk yesterday as I was so involved with watching the awful things that are happening . I did walk today...on the treadmill in front of the tv. Normally I do not watch too much tv. Now I am glued to it. I pray that this does not get worse. Losing a pound right now is so far out there.
Hope you all stay safe...Love ya...Joanne |
i am not walking everyday out side i now have an indoor aroebics tape that is a 3 mile walk :D , i am 13 pounds lighter in 2 and a half months
|
I can't watch the tv anymore. I work out of Mass General Hospital, and we are on alert. I'm a Case Manager, and we've been instructed to place any patient not needing acute care into short term rehabs. Yesterday we placed over 200 patients. (this is in the event survivors needed the beds...but it doens't look like there are many left...NY can handle them) Boston has been so surreal. You don't realize how noisy the planes are out of Logan until they aren't flying!!! It is so quiet, so when one of the military jets flies over...everyone looks (but you can't see them only hear them). My husband and I keep waking up, when they fly over...My Dad was/is Air Force, and until I was 18, we always lived on an Air Base. Either in England or Montana, so the jets is not an unfamilar sound..but still.
On a different subject..it seems kinda disrespectful. Weigh in was yesterda...off my prednisone...so the weight loss of the last two weeks of only .5 pounds finally caught up. 5 pounds this week, making the grand total to 49 pounds!! I missed the 50 pound magnet this week...but next week is only 6 days away. Lisa Marie...great job!!! I'll have to follow your lead once winter starts. What is the name of your tape? Does any one else have tapes that they would recommend..don't want to put the cart behind the horse...but I know New England winters...and we are due for a doosey this year!!! Liz, have they opened the airports in Cananda yet. I'm suppose to be visiting Ontario (Cambridge to be exact) at the end of October, but the plan has always been to drive. Have a good friend Kathy. KEEP ON WALKING, AND LOVE TO ALL LynnMarie |
Hey There
Lyn Marie- I think this thing has upset me and probably many others more than we realize. My old stomach problem has kicked in. I keep watching the TV though as I am hoping for survivors. As a nurse I know how false that thinking is.
Hello Babyboo. Yes what is the name of your tape. I have been concidering some tapes that would be easy for me. I need floor exercise that are not impact. I have severe osteo arthritis. I walk everyday. Yesterday and today will be on the treadmill. We are expecting a storm and rain. Nice to have you with us. 13 1/2 lbs in 2 months is a good wt. loss. Good for you. Keep up the good work. Hello Michaela..........Joanne:wave: |

I wanna join too
Hey guys, I'm game! Count me in. I have just started walking about 3 days ago to aid in my weight loss efforts! I have also come to realize I like walking. It's not so vigorous that you can't think of nothing else. No fancy foot work needed. I can use the time to reflect on my day, or get things organized in my head. Mostly tho' I just sigh and try to release the daily stress. Plus, I enjoy passing all the homes in my area. Great way to pick up landscaping ideas etc..........
FBG |
Hi all....yes the airports are open in Canada...I for one don't plan on getting in an airplane anytime soon.....weigh in tomorrow....who cares.......way to keep on walking everybody, I'm still going short distances.....talk to you soon......Liz in Canada
|
Hey
Good Morning.. I don't know if I am at the same site that I usually go to but any how Here I am.. I walked four miles yesterday just to get rid of built up tension. Ofcourse I have been eating far more than I should as a result of the anxiety of the past week. My scale says I am ok but you can never believe these home scales as they are always different than WW.
FBG you have the right idea. I do a lot of my planning and try to get creative ideas for my projects while I walk. I also make an effort to clear negative thoughts. After the first mile or so I feel that my hubby (at times) will make it another day before I smack him one. I started walking several years ago to lose wt. and reduce my colesterol. My col. is now 186 and I am down 60 lbs. I want to lose about 10 more. Welcome and I know you will do well. LynnMarie.. Is your life getting back to normal? I hope so. I told myself that life goes on. Time alone will tell how this thing in our world will work out. You are doing great with your weight loss. Keep up the good work. Remember..there is a star in heaven with your name on it, as there is for all nurses. Liz Keep up the walking. It helps to clear our mind and is good for our health. You are doing well I hope... Bye all my friends. Be Happy....Joanne:) Hello Michaela |
Hi Joanne: I still haven't got into the serious walking routine yet, but moving more than I used to.....down 1 lb on friday for a total of 40.2 lbs.......8 months since I started......so works out to 5 lbs a month....slow but sure.......think I have definatly made some lifestyle changes.....sometimes it takes the scales a day or so to catch up to what we have been up to:devil: Thanks for keeping in touch....
FBG welcome and maybe you will inspire me to get my but in gear in a more regular fashion.......... Babyboo, wonder if that video is in the library......hmmmmmmmm LynneMarie and Lynock...thanks for all the support, I hope all is well |
It has been raining there for 4 days so I haven't good much walking in.I have started lifting hand held weights to tighten up my arms.I think starting tomorrow I need to really get serious again.I haven't been eating much but I think that I am eating the wrong stuff.
How is everyone doing? Have a great day. |
Hi
Michaela- Lifting hand weights is a good idea. I have been doing the same thing for the last month. I might have started too late. Gravity set in long ago. Maybe it will help some. Have a good day and reevaluate your foods. I try to do that from time to time. Last night I made a big boo boo. I piged out on chocolate chip cookies and milk. I haven't touched that in a long time. Maybe I am over my craving.
Bye...Joanne:wave: |
JoanneD, you sound so bummed. I hope your feeling better, after that chocolate in the cookies...you should be!! Don't feel bummed cause you ate a few(maybe more) cookies. The Supreme being gave us that recipe too!!! And aren't they delish!!! Only feel guilty if they were bad cookies...if your gonna cheat...eat something that tastes heavenly!!!
Michaela, good to hear from you. What kind of weights? And this is for both you and Joanne...gravity is realative...anything with enough work can be reversed...or at least slowed down!! Last night was dinner with my hubbies family..I did pretty good. one serving...but one of everything!!! Heck it's a holiday..and it's only once a year...Next week...that could be a bad thing though...it's all cheese dishes!! I'll have to stick to the smoked fishes, and bagels!!! I've changed my walking this week, and I'll have to keep it up for the next two...I've increased the length by a mile, and I've added hills. The front of my calves is what hurts...from going down some of the hills...you have to keep the brakes on(so to speak) so that I don't fall over!!! FBG...keep up the good work!! a pound a week is great, and when taking it off slowly...it stays off!! Just a note...Boston is getting back to normal...security has become a must!! Last night at Fenway...they examined everyones bags...had bomb dogs and you couldn't bring in coolers! Only thing. in the past week, fools keep calling with bomb threats..in the past week, there have been 11 bomb threats in the greater Boston area..and they have temporarily/permanently closed the top of the Hancock building to tourists!! Bummer...it's the best view of Boston!!! Keep on Walking!! LynnMarie |
Hey There
LynnMarie- I have a bad habit of beating up myself when I do something that I know is not good for me. I must be on a tear as I ate Pizza last night. 1/2 half of a pizza. We were working in the yard all day yesterday and I didn't plan well. My hubby said lets eat the pizza in the freezer. Some excuse. ?Right! I had fish defrosted!
I take one pound ankle wts amd wear on my wrist for half day and as I go about my work I do exercise. Plus I feel that everytime I move my arms I get the extra exercise. Hopefully it will do something.I have a treadmil but I injoy walking outside. It is much more of a challenge. My legs hurt the first mile and then when I warm up it is ok. It seems that whenever there is a happening like this past week the creeps come out of the closet. We have our fair share here in Florida. I can imagine that it is much worse up there . I think everything has been blown way out of bounds. The media has a way of milking everything to death. It gets very tiresome and causes too much hysteria. There is a problem. I think it is time to quit talking about it and fix it. I am back within bounds I hope. At least I started the day with a good attitude,I hope.Keep walking..It is good for our hearts.weight and mental attitude. FBG- How are you? Hello Michaela.................Joanne:) |
sorry girls
we are moving so i am not able to get online that much and post here so hopfully with in anohter week i can come back and post more often here ... yall are so great :)
well gotta run keep up the good work ladies :dizzy: |
Haven't got out walking, no excuses......but am cleaning like crazy....probably will work out to 4-5 hours on my feet...has to count for something:dizzy: Talk to you soon...Liz in Canada
