Hey, ncjenni - don't take NO for an answer. If your doctor doesn't want you to do Curves ask him for an alternative. I'd demand he refer me to a physical therapist (at least 3 sessions) and learn a routine that is right for you. It just burns me that they can say "do do this" but don't fill in with "do this instead". ARRGGG!! Stand up for yourself and your health and your well being *rant over - sorry*

I've heard so much about Curves at this site but had no idea what it was. Then I got a Curves coupon in my ValPak mailing last week. I hung onto the coupon and finally gave them a call today and went in this afternoon to get the tour. I also did a tour of Bally Fitness. I'm used to the club exercises myself, but being pregnant right now, I can't do my favorite, which is running on the treadmill. Running just jiggles my tummy too much and is uncomfortable.

Anyway, I left Curves thinking I was going to go to Bally's and pay the $5 10 day trial fee. But halfway there, I did a 180. So tomorrow, I'm going back to sign up for Curves and get started. Bally requires a 3 year committment, and I'm worried I won't put much effort in if all I can do is walk the treadmill. But with Curves, it doesn't bother my tummy and yet still gave me a good workout. And it's only a year contract. By then, the baby will be here and I could be back to my running and may decide then to go on over to Bally.

Good Luck almostheaven.....I think you will (rephrase that...I know you will) Love Curves...
ncjenni...I agree with ellen....you must go to PT....they will show you what you can do and might even be able to modify your Curves workout if you choose to continue going...
Well everyone....it's my 4th day smoke free and still having a tough time...still eating everything in sight, but I DID go to Curves last night...taking 1 hour at a time..
How's everyone else doing?

Just got back from working out. NOT to intense today I have to go to a mothers day tea at my daughters preschool and no time to shower. I will make up tomorrwo Im doing step at 8am then curves so I will work my butt off.
The only thing that gets me sometimes with curves is the music. I have become so well known at mine I just say what is up with this music and the girls will change it for me lol. Plus they need to switch our machines around again it is time for change. Later gals have a great weekend.

They play a lot of 80's at the one I went to and she told me that we can always ask them to change it if we don't like what they're playing. But being an 80's gal, I think it's great.

Hi Didi -on a side note: I quit smoking last sept after reading Allen Carr's "The only way to stop smoking permanently". He's a terrible writer, and more than a little chauvanistic, but I was a long-time chain smoker & I quit with never a craving! Well, sometimes I want to smoke just to be like everyone else around me, but never a nic fit and never gained an ounce. I can't recommend this book highly enough. But you'll have to make allowances for the writing and be very open minded about his convoluted writing style. Other than that it was easy - and I wasn't sure it would work til I put out that last cigarette, and I KNEW I would NEVER smoke again. Weird but wonderful! Good luck! I always tell myself that if I could quit smoking I could lose weight no problem. When I smoked I would have happily traded ALL my food for smokes.

I'm with you, gg - I say that quitting smoking was the hardest thing I have ever done (Apr 2003). Losing weight is just time consuming!

I found the all-fire cure for quitting smoking. Works perfectly. You max out your credit cards on cigarettes when you're out of work until you finally decide you HAVE to quit because you can't pay for it anymore.

Worked for me anyway. LOL

Hey all....have been so off track with dieting, but as far as Curves is concerned, I've been going 5 - 6X a week. So that's good. I haven't gained, nor have I lost. That's good news to me! I need to get back into gear now!!

Hi Ladies,
I have been going to Curves since Dec. 29,2003. I love it very much. I have lost 29 pounds and 17 inches so far. I go three times a week after school. It helps me destress after teaching my Multihandicapped students all day. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids dearly. They can just be a little challenging some days. Every weekday morning during the school year, I get up at 5:30 and do a 2 mile walking video by Leslie Sansone before getting ready for work. Then I try to either go for a walk or ride my bike in the evenings when I don't go to the gym. So that is a little bit about me. I am glad to see the forum up and running again. I use to post on the old one but people stopped posting and I quit coming to this site to check. Glad I did come today. I will keep coming back now.
Well I better go and get some work done. I am here at school until 5:45 and then off to Curves for a quick workout before going to my twin stepsons' baseball game at 7. I might be a few minutes late but atleast I will be able to say that I was there.
Check back with you all later.
Take care,
Kerry

Hi Everyone..
KAR...welcome back....
Sunny.....I'm a scale addict too..haha...stay away..
Well, it's now 10 days of non-smoking...eating my way up the scale..
Went to Curves last night and had my first W&M...it wasn't pretty..
I have gained 6 lbs (due to not smoking and eating junk)...only lost 1/2 inch off my arms and 1/2 inch off my waist..everything else stayed the same. I knew this was going to happen and I'm not discouraged....just have to focus on eating right now...
I can only imagine how much I would have weighed if I didn't go to Curves..YIKES!!!
Time to buckle down.....now that the cravings for cigs are getting better...
Ciao for now..
Di

didi - I am so proud of you for not smoking and you are right about your w/m. Now that your cravings are getting better you can start to focus more on your diet but getting the smoking under control was SO-OOO important. You must feel better. GOOD FOR YOU
