Yay Josephine!!!
16 yesterday, 7 today. Should hit 1000 sometime this week. |
I'm at 590 year to date. I'm not going to post too much in the way of running mileage in the next few weeks since we are going on vacation and switching to hiking mode.
|
Have fun hiking MBN!
+ 3.5 miles run this morning... Thanks for the cheers for the hip, it is slowly getting better! I need to fully recuperate it, I have a big trip planned for September for mountain biking through Maine, I can't wait! Wow, look at the mileage you guys have, so impressive and inspiring! Ennay, 1000 miles, w00t! |
Hi guys!! Great job on the persistence and the mileage! Woohoo!!
I'm back from France. I ran twice, biked once, and walked miles and miles every day. The STAIRS! Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomph, the metro, the cathedral stairs! But those are hard to count. So I will count the runs (6 miles), the bike ride (13), and our day in London when the metro was on strike and we walked continously from 8 am to 9 pm (9 miles is a conservative estimate). |
Whoo hoo you're back! Was it awesome? It sounds like you really covered alot of ground! Un photo?
|
10 today - was supposed to include 6 miles of tempo intervals (5 minute @ 8-8:15mm, 2 min recovery) I did 3 intervals and 90 seconds into the 4th one I just faaaaaded.

Hi everyone, I am new to the site and am looking for just such a challenge to keep me on track with my new plans for a healthier self. I am thinking 400 miles for the rest of the year. I am just wondering, do you only count exercise miles or total daily mileage. I am sure it is just exercise miles, but just checking.
I can't use a signature yet, I will just post my mileage in my messages for now. Is there anything else I need to know or do.. thanks Margaret |
Margaret...you count what is meaningful to you. If you wear a pedometer and want to count "normal daily" mileage, then go for it. Some people count walking, biking, running, elliptical miles. I count only running because that is what is important to me :) (I may be a bit..umm..running crazy)
|
Welcome Margaret! I second everything Ennay said, count what is important to YOU!
|
Thanks for the advice, I think I would like to just stick to the exercise, I already get 6-8 miles a day in normal walking, I am all over the office during the day. So I really need to boost things to make a difference. I did my first weigh in this morning and I lost 7.4 lbs my first official week for a total of 15 lbs in June. I am feeling pretty good.
I have a long way to go, but if I take it one day at a time, it will come soon enough. Happy Walking/Running/Biking/Jogging everyone |
I will try to get some pix up, Jo!
3 miles today---and they were really tough! Time to get back into the groove. |
I can't wait to see a pic! I'll exchange a couple pics of Italy (where I was in March) for a couple pics of Paris!

My body rebelled this morning. Yesterday after my speedwork I took the kids to costco, winco, new seasons(like whole foods) to the farm for my CSA pickup and then to the pool. When I got home I was wiped out. When my alarm went off this morning I growled at it and shut it off. Somehow I convinced myself I would have time today for at least an hour of running. I had 20 minutes. Did 1.5 miles outside and then came in and did a barefoot 0.5 miles on the tread. Barefoot running is interesting. I see why I get such different injuries on the right and the left, I land completely differently. Anyway, some of what ails me on the right side chronically is supposedly helped by barefoot running occasionally to strengthen things. The left side doesnt like it much so I think I'll stick to 0.5 mile jaunts 3-4 times a week. The right side REALLY liked it though. All the achiness vanished.
I'm considering a pair of vibrams but I think that is just my gearhead wishes. I should wait and see if I like this barefoot running thing before spending $$. |
Ennay -- very interesting about the barefoot running, I've never tried it, I feel like I'm too heavy and will hurt myself.
+5.1 mile run this morning... |
I saw a guy run a marathon barefoot once.
2.5 miles today. We went to the high school track to time a mile but it was totally closed off. They are filming a movie there. As an aside, they are filming another movie where I work (with Hilary Swank). I did not see Hilary Swank but I had to park in a different area. So anyway we had to change our running plans so we only got 2.5 miles in. DH will help me get some Paris pix up tonight. :) |
Looking forward to the pictures!
I've never run on a track because our high school seems to keep their all locked up. I'd love to give it a try some time. |
I shut my alarm off again this morning and the kids are zonked so I'll miss my gym time. Sheesh. I got lazy.
|
+1 on Monday
+2.75 on Tuesday Hoping for more today. :) |
+8 today, combo of treadmill, ellitpical, bike
|
Finally a decent run after 2 days of serious slacking. 7.5 today, 2 yesterday, 2 wednesday
|
Got our 4 mile in to Starbucks and back. Missed the rest of the week since Sunday due to ....too tired after work!!!... Plus Angie has the mutts out for their 3 evey morning before off to summer school...giving me a break(?)
Glad to see you back Baby Catcher...sounds like a wonderful experience! Just saw a guy run a marathon barefoot a few weeks ago when I watched my daughter....coming from a guy that is never barefoot I don't get it...now Angie does...shoes come off when the car stops unless she is on a run! 285/1000 MILES |
3 miles today!
|
10 miles today with 5 @ marathon pace.
I am pretty sold on the barefoot running at least in short stints. My heel feels better than at any time in the last 2 years after only 1 week of every other day 0.5 mile bf runs. I dont see me converting to barefoot running for real running. To me it is more of a crosstraining thing. Xtraining my feet. |

Adding 2 to stay ahead of Baby Catcher!

Lounging on the Circus Maximus, Roman ruins in the background... Hiking on the Ligurian coast -- the Cinque Terre In Venice... |
Added 13 over the weekend and this morning.
I hit the "normal" range on the BMI charts on Saturday and rewarded myself with new running shoes. My calves love me again! (Even the one with a huge bruise from a rock spit at me by my evil lawnmower.) I'm now 1 pound past my original goal weight. And to cap off my perfect weekend, I ran one of my Saturday miles under 10 minutes. :carrot: |

Have fun in TN, Midwife! Congrats on being past your original goal, Dixie, that is just TREMENDOUS! |
Jo, those are fabulous photos. You and your location look amazing!! :)
Midwife, my photos do that also. I see Jo uses photobucket. I will try to use one of those online photo sites also. Right now my malf marathon pics are on an email to myself. I'll give that a go after some errands get accomplished. +5 walked yesterday +2 stroller walked today +2 run home |
Added 6 this morning. The first 2 were on the treadmill at the gym, then 4 more at the track. I wanted to time myself on the treadmill...I finally broke the 10 minute mark! I did a mile in 9:44. I'm making progress again.
