I began my quest for 100 Saturday. My initial test placed me in Column 3. For the first day I was able to do all the reps plus one extra in each level(set) for good measure. I didn't want to max out though because this was in the beginning of my chest and back workout and I had more work I wanted to do besides pushups. Anyway, the video of Laura looks pretty good. She's got great definition. Here is a video I like to refer to for ideas as well.

Default I'm joining!

So, I can only do 5 on my knees *sigh*

I'm going to start with level 1 on my knees. I'll try at the end of each week to do a real pushup. If I can get up to 2 real push ups, I'll start over at week one with real ones.

My initial test was dismal, I can't do even ONE "real" push up. So my choices are on the knees or against the counter.

I'll be doing kitchen counter pushups for now I guess until I get stronger.

Initial test: 7 against the counter.

Talking How do do a push up right!

Hello everyone
It's great that so many people joined this challenge We can ALL do it - slow and steady!!! It doesn't matter if we cannot do a full extended push up right now. I feel as long as we try and move ourselves (in the right form) that's the key. We'll all get there eventually

Here are few links on the correct form and alternate ways to do push ups. Thanks to Josephine aka Tyler Durden for the research

(1) How to do a Push Up

(2) Mistressing the pushup

Hang in there everyone!!!!

Well, I tested and started today. Unfortunately, although initially I could pull off 11 pushups, I collapsed after the 7th of the 8 Level 3 of column 3 required. I managed to finish off the rest though, with an extra push up on the "as many as possible" one, so I feel a little better. (That and I screwed up and thought the 6 one required 8. My eighth was bad, but it kinda got done). I think I'm going to have to repeat week 1 after this, because I don't think I'll be able to keep up with good form. Still, I'm amazed how many push ups I actually did today!

I want to now formally register a complaint about my abnormally long arms.

I did my pushups again last night. Can't wait until I can do them with great form (and without the fear of breaking my nose on the floor).

Okay I think in plurkville there was some info that said counter pushups may be better then girl style ones? Does anyone have any info on this? I'm sure I could research but I'm far too lazy (eh hmmm I mean busy at work) to look it up right now. Thanks!

Hi Ladies!!!
I am so excited! A pushup challenge. I love it. Count me it. I will do my initial test tonight. You all rock!

Diva, I think you and I must have similiar goals. I want to be a mini Jillian too! I have her picture on my computer as the screen saver..just good for the inspiration. And, I want to do be able to do a one armed pushup. And a pull up....or more than one. but I would be thrilled to just have one right now.
hugs, heather

My initial test is 9 counter push ups.

Thanks for starting this thread, Jaime. I've always been a weakling, so I'm looking forward to this!

I did Day 1 today. Went pretty well, but I couldn't go all the way down. So I will do week 1 twice.. or until I can go down all the way..

Well, I started the program today. I had to resort to the girly push-ups to get past day one, but at least I made it... lol. I'll continue to stay in week one until I make it through with the real push-ups! Thanks for leading me to this site!
