Trish, I understand how you feel. I thought you lost very well when you had a 4 hour window but that might not be good all the time. I also feel it works better if you allow yourself to eat in the evening. And its easy for you to fast in the morning. These are just what I've observed.

Intuitive Eating is meant to control binge eating. That's why people don't want you to talk about weight loss. You can do it for weight loss as long as you don't discuss it in a IE forum. Being in diet mentality seems to be a problem for them. I wanted to stop compulsive overeating even though I don't binge eat. But I also want to lose weight. I have read a couple books about Mindful Eating. It is similar to IE.

People who are normal eaters don't think about when or what they eat. Some days they eat more some days less. Sometimes they are busy or just not hungry so they skip a meal. Some days they eat more carbs, That is my goal, to be like that. I think your BS is like that.

I used to eat all the time because I was afraid I would get hungry and food would not be available. This is how I ended up overeating. I didn't even know what hunger felt like. By starting IF I learned what hunger felt like and found out it sometimes is a good feeling.

I think you will find what works best for you by trial and error. I think you are doing great.

Carol Sue, there was a time that I was a compulsive eater even a grazer, but I don't do that anymore. The day I read the original CAD book and then heard of Intuitive Eating which was quite similar to me.

I waited until now before writing about my eating because I wanted to know how my day actually ended. When I write too early that the day has been good, it can go to to pot really quick. Now I am going to bed so I can honestly say that I have had a very good and successful eating day. In fact, I actually had a 5 1/2 hr eating window but did it more intuitively than thinking about fasting.i

I've had my chamomile tea and now getting sleepy. Hope you get a good nights sleep Carol Sue. Goodnight.

It doesn't make sense but these were my weights so far this month. I wanted to drop back down from the 188 of yesterday but I didn't expect this! Yesterday I ate in a 7 hour window, 1067 cals with 48 carbs. Nothing after 4 pm except a couple teaspoons of pepitas at bedtime. I also slept much better. I forgot my tea again but I was itchy so I took Benedryl.

The past couple days I had ankle pain when I walked that wasn't helped with Tylenol. I had to start back with my gout meds. I was itchy within 2 hours of taking it. I don't know what to do. It says online that if you get itchy stop taking it and contact your doctor. The only other med for it is not covered by my insurance. I will try only taking it if I have pain until I see my doctor in June. It could have been from the ham I've been eating. I only eat ham at Easter and Christmas. Very little pork which is high in purines. I know my gout isn't completely from diet. One BP med contributes too but it is the most effective of my pills. Drinking water is supposed to help too but I can only spend so much time in the bathroom.

I want to get the rest of my laundry done and I need a few things from the store. I want to try avocados again. I like to buy the little ones in a bag but they tend to get ripe all at the same time. I need to find a way to change that.

Carol Sue I know you are glad to see the 183 this morning. I still don't understand how or even why some things work and some don't. Our bodies or so complicated. Sorry the ankle is hurting and you had to take the gout medicine. One good thing is that you now know that the gout med is causing the itching. I understand about the other med being pricy. I hope you can figure it out.

I like to buy the small avocadoes in the bag as well. I can only get those at Walmart. I go back and forth as to when I want to buy them. I just can't decide about them even though they are good fats. I could make guacamole with them but have never tried doing it. DMIL #2 made the best I ever ate.

My weight was 183.8 this morning. The sad thing is that on April 1st I weighed 181 and since then it has been a real task to even stay in the lower range of 180s. I know that my mood concerning "dieting" right now isn't helping too much. However, I don't want to lose what ground I've made and then again there is the importance of taking care of my bones, so I got up and did what I call my core exercises and then 20 minutes on the bike. I want to do those at least 3 days a week on MWF. I will see about adding some weights and HIIT on Thursdays and of course I do a lot of walking on Tuesday at the stores. I already told DH that we have to go to all 3 stores tomorrow so there will be a lot of walking.

Eating Intuitively, I didn't get hungry today until after noon. Not sure of the time... maybe 12:30ish. I want to follow a semi-WWSF woe and go back to eating 0 pt fruits and veggies so I remembered I had a little can of sliced pineapple in the pantry so I washed off the pineapple and ate it.

I had planned to make spaghetti today but we were having storms and more expected so decided to make pizza. Sometimes electric goes off during storms although not in a long time, and I didn't want the sauce in the crockpot if it does go off. I'll make pizza today and have spaghetti later in the week. I really hope that eating intuitively will bring some good results for me. At least I'm still working toward good health along with it.

Trish, I think its best to let things evolve as they will. You can change your meal from land and its no big deal. You are,eating healthy and getting a fasting period which is all good.

We went to Bob Evans for breakfast at 10:30. I ate too much. Then we went to Walmart, then to Goodwill. The avocados in the bag were all over ripe. They only had 3 bags. I think they don't want to put the new ones out til someone bought the old ones. Then I looked at the loose avocados and they were small and hard as rocks. Even the darker ones that should be ripe were hard. So I bought a 6 pack of Wholly Guacamole. I can eat one little cup per day. I like fresh avocados better.

DH got Mcnuggets again for dinner and I ate 4. I am not that hungry and very tired for some reason. I felt fine til I ate at Bob Evans. My skin on my arms is all dry and shriveled up. I know I'm dehydrated. I keep drinking water but I pee it all back out. I don't know what to do. Maybe the dehydration is why my weight dropped so low.

The only meal I plan now is dinner that I eat with DH. Everything else is only when hungry. I had the fruit around 12:30. Dinner was the pizza around 4 and I didn't get hungry again until 9 pm and had a protein shake. I think the calories were around 1200. Another good IE day.

I watched a video on FB explaining Intuitive Eating for weight loss. They said eat what you want when you are hungry and stop when full. Since IE teaches there are no good/bad foods, they say eat 80% healthy foods and 20% fun foods. I just put a search on FB for Intuitive eating for weight loss to see if there was anything on it and was nice to find a video on it. Didn’t look for a support group for it. May check into that sometime.

Carol Sue, my skin is getting very wrinkled because it is so dry. I need to be drinking more water myself. I remember reading that drinking water prevents wrinkles. I may have to start keeping up with how much actual water I drink and slow down on the coffee. I’ve had to do that before.

Hope you can rest good. How is the ankle pain and itching?

HI everyone: Finally managed a fast yesterday and am 157 today. I really let myself go there, and need to get back to normal.
First round of eye check ups today. This one scans my optic nerve, then I do a "field of vision" test. These test for any damage being done due to my high pressures. I am just below the line for glaucoma. But like diabetes, there is a progression. Before you have glaucoma, you have increasingly higher pressures, and some people get damage before the actual "number" for glaucoma. So they have been checking this for a couple of years now. I am doing well on most parameters and I expect all will be well today.
Then next week is the full exam and see if I need a new prescription or not. I think I am good.

Trish: you will choose how you will eat, and I agree, sometime mixing it up is good. But IF has been good to you overall. I don't know that the 4 hour window is always right, as opposed to 8 or 6 hours, but it fits with your lifestyle and your youthful way of eating.
Carol: I think that ham and the carbs had you holding on to some fluid and you shed that. Good luck getting down lower this week.

I slept better last night and feel good so far. I got so tired in the evening and struggled to stay up until 8 pm. I don't know why. I couldn't even get comfortable in my recliner. I want to sleep when my body shows me it needs it. I don't think naps are bad. When I was single I went to bed early often. If I felt sleepy I slept. When I was a child, my mother never had to make me go to bed. I went willingly.

Trish, I think I drink plenty of water. I think my problem is frequent urination. Maybe I need more salt to hold the fluid. I'm afraid to use moisturizers after some of the reactions I've had. I will start using Dove soap in the shower. Maybe its the soap I'm using drying my skin. I used to use moisturizing body wash but some of them leave the tub slippery. I have to scrub the tub after every shower. I don't think I get that dirty to need antibacterial soap!

Today I ate a small breakfast at 10:30. 1 egg, 2 pieces of bacon and 2 slices of tomato. I think I have a tendency to eat too much breakfast so I'm going to cut back. I know that when I eat my body wants more, but I think its when I eat to "full." I only ate because DH made a sandwich and offered me half. No matter how many times he swears he will stop doing that he does it. I guess he can't stop doing it like I can't stop eating it. So it is 100% on me to control my eating. He could eat it in front of me and I'm fine but if he offers it to me I eat it. This is just a fact of life for me I guess. Sometimes I wonder if he really wants to undermine my weight loss. I know he is not attracted to fat women. He tells me I'm not fat, I just have a big belly.

I think we might go to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. DH wanted to go over the weekend but I won't go on a weekend. They are crowded every day but there's no wait. On weekends you wait a long time to be seated. We don't like to wait, plus we don't like a 2 seater booth. DH likes to sit in the bar area because he likes to watch golfing while he's there. There are only TVs in the bar. If we go at 3-4 we can get in the bar.

Weight today was down another lb to 182.8. This our day shopping so I haven't had anything but a glass of water, 1 c of herb tea and a cup of coffee and my berberine. I had cut down to 2 berberines a day but decided that it must curb my appetite because I've started taking it again with my c of tea. I don't have to eat to take it as it is good to take before exercising.

I've decided that I want to go back to my original lifestyle of eating when I was younger and each time I was thin. I ate if and when I was hungry and I only ate as much as it took to satisfy that hunger. I could sit at a table full of food and people all around me eating and never take a bite of anything just because I wasn't hungry. I did that a lot at church functions back in SC. I want that back and I believe that a combo of IE/IF is the way I ate but without the time limit of an eating window, because I might eat something called breakfast or brunch and then wait 6 hrs or more before I got hungry for anything else. That video I watched yesterday on FB said if you eat only when hungry to full (I like till satisfied not full) you will lose weight especially if you have the rule of 80% healthy foods. Obviously it works for me so I am going to continue to eat that.

DH is up and will be ready to leave in a few minutes so I need to get ready too.

Trish, I think this idea will be good for you. Its like a normal eater. I know if I only ate when hungry I would never have gained in the first place. I have a problem with eating until full, and also til satisfied. Sometimes I am not satisfied until I'm stuffed. Its not a comfortable feeling but I just get out of control with food, certain foods. This is compulsive overeating and you don't have that problem. But for me its best to just eat til hunger is gone. Sometimes that just takes a couple bites.

I had a bit of pain overnight, more like discomfort and a bit of itch, not intense like it was. Now that I'm up and about I'm much better. My ankle doesn't hurt. I'm going to take the gout med 3 times a week. If no pain I will cut back to twice a week. And I will monitor the itch.

​​​​​​I had salmon at Texas Roadhouse and I ordered it with no seasoning. That's the secret! It was outstanding. I ate too much but no jumk, it was all healthy food.

I feel so good today I'm amazed. I wish I knew whats different so I could do it every day. My hand hardly hurts at all and the pain and swelling in my finger is almost gone. The swelling in my finger is almost back to normal. I can get my ring on but its a little tight. I haven't been sleepy at all today so no nap.

Its cold again so we're back to the furnace. I saw a pink hanging geranium at Wal-Mart and I bought it. It was really too soon. I had it hanging outside one day and now its inside until it gets warm again. We aren't supposed to plant until the end of May but it has been unseasonably warm. I saw a lot of people buying at the garden center.

Carol Sue I have been a compulsive over eater and binged on certain foods throughout the years. I guess WW and IE helped me over come it. However, as I found out last week when I ate 1 large bag of chips in 2 days, I realized that I could very easily be an occasional binge eater again. I love plain oatmeal cookies only from the Dollar Tree, but I don't go there as often as I used to so and the last time I went, I purposely didn't even go down that isle because I didn't want be tempted. Now there was a time before I moved here that I could buy them and eat the 1 serving of 2 cookies and be satisfied, but the last 2 times I bought them I wanted the whole thing and couldn't stop at one serving. So I just don't buy them any more. Same reason we don't buy the potato chips much any more. I guess you could call me a compulsive eater/binger in remission. :dizzy:

I ended up with about 19 hr fast by the time we ate. Sam's has their own 30 g protein shake equivalent to Premier and $2 cheaper so I got it. If nothing else, I will eat fruit and drink a shake later tonight. My FBG seems to like the protein shakes as it was back down to 99 this morning.

I've decided that I just don't like fried chicken anymore so I guess it doesn't matter where DH gets it from We got Churches which was my favorite for years before I moved from TX, but I couldn't eat it all today. My tastes are changing and hopefully that is a good thing.

Carol Sue I hope you will be able to get the gout and itching under control. Sorry DH still offers you food. I thought about it and I think it has to do with how his Mother was. If she always cooked extra there was plenty and no one left hungry, she probably also was one of those people who could feed surprise guests for dinner. No matter who came to our house, Mama always offered people something to eat and drink. I always thought you were supposed to. I really think that your DH feels like he is supposed to at least offer food to you. He probably feels guilty if he doesn't know how to stop. He thinks he is taking care of you. So it may be that you have to figure out some other way to get around it if you can.

Fatmad Hope your eye tests and exams go well.

I think we all are doing good at keeping our weight stable where we are and it is probably good for us to lose weight this way. It just isn't fun because it feels like a stall and it could be that it is just normal.

I made it another good day with a 5 hr eating window. Strange thing is that it seems I am doing better doing this without any rules or advance plan. Drinking my chamomile tea and heading to bed.

Hello friends: 156.5 today after my eating day yesterday. I hope to fast again today.
Eye testing went fine and quickly. I forget its between terms and there were no students yesterday. So it went faster than usual. I will get the results when I go next week for my regular exam.
I am leaving soon to drop at friend at the hospital for a colonoscopy. I will do the pick-up later as well. His wife is no longer able to drive for now, she has been getting dizzy spells for no known reason. I have gone over and checked her blood pressure and blood sugars when she has them. Eating and drinking do not help them.
She is going off a couple of her OTC meds she was taking and I hope that may help. But its been bad enough she has had a couple of falls, This is my friend who is very overweight, and losing on Ozempic. She still doesn't have much appetite, but we have got her eating a small amount with her morning coffee and again at supper, so that her blood sugar doesn't drop too much. So she is also doing 2MAD with this, and thats all to the good as well since her blood sugars are fine that way. She has lots of stored energy to draw from. LOL

The cupboards and dishwasher will be delivered today. We have to inspect everything and take delivery formally, and the installer is booked for Monday or Tuesday, depending on his other jobs. We will take the final group of cupboards, on the plumbing wall, out on Sunday. All is as ready as we can make it.

I'm having trouble with the internet today.

Mad, I hope your friend is ok and I hope the Ozempic isn't causing the problem since its helping her.

Slept for 8 hours but lots of wake ups.

Trish, DH and I have discussed this issue of offering me food and I've explained why it is not good for me. He says he will not do it again,,then he does it the next day. :lol:. Sometimes i will say "You said you were going to stop doing that."_and he says " You dont have to eat it.". Not true. Im a compulsive overeater. I cant control it. I guess i HAVE to learn to refuse. Somehow. I usually take it and eat it before i think. He offers me candy all the time but I can easily turn it down because i dont like the candy he eats. Usually the food he offers me is stuff I like and its often healthy food, but its either when i'm not hungry or outside my eating window. He constantly feeds the dog too and hes getting too heavy. Yesterday he told me the dog likes Fritos. The dog is not supposed to eat Fritos. This is a man who wont eat if offered food at someone elses house. Grrrrr!!!!

There are things that i do that he asks me to stop doing. I think i will tell him I'll stop when he stops feeding me. Now today its 10 oclock and hes not cooking.

I'm glad you had a good eating day. One will lead to another. I hardly ever go to Dollar Tree anymore. There are a couple things i use from there and i only go when i need them. One is their Brillo pads. They are cheaper and they stay soapy longer than brand name and dont get rusty as fast. I used to buy their facial tissues but they switched brands. I also buy their generic Vicks. ​​​​​

Fatmad I hope your friend is able to figure out what causes her dizziness. Maybe eating 2 meals a day while going through this maybe she will get a routine and like eating that way.

Carol Sue I am not sure you can break your DH from his offering you food. I hope y'all can work it out.

Weight was up a tad but I think it is always like because I don't drink enough water when we go out. I have an almost 32 oz glass that I drink water from so I will start drinking enough to get at least an equivalent of 8 8oz glasses a day. It would only take 2 glasses this size. DD said her doctor told her to drink 10 glasses, but that may be due to her weight. I don't know what she weighs. I am making my first glass with a splash of ACV and lemon.

My eating window started at 12:45 with a few nuts since I seemed to need just a bit of something. Exercise is done for the day and spaghetti is in the pot. I made a whole batch and will freeze half of it for another day.

DH is making hamburgers. We went go the store and bought fresh ground beef and some pork chops. I got bone in and DH will have to accept that. I can cut the loin out for him and I will eat the part attached to the bone. Maybe I can get him to try it. His mother always cooked bone in.

DH also bought a small layer cake. The store with the good ground meat also has the best bakery. Actually it is really a great store but overall it is expensive. I used to do all my shopping there until I saw how much cheaper Wal-Mart is.

My first meal was breakfast at 11:30 so I will have a 5 hour eating window. I'm happy with that.
