Scale says 185.2, down 1.6 from Wednesday. No scale yesterday. I ate less than 1000 calories yesterday, around 750, but I can't say I was actually hungry. I felt a wee bit of hunger in the evening. I think I ate enough regardless of what MFP says. They are going by a one-size- fits-all protocol. Our bodies don't work that way. What it needs today might not be what it needs tomorrow. I think calorie counting has its place, to be familiar with the count of the foods you eat. For example. I made a peanut butter cream pie for DH. He and his daughter loved it. I tasted a sliver out of curiosity. It was good but not great to me, my not being a sweet lover. The calories and carbs were through the roof! Definitely not worth screwing up my day for. So tracking those calories was worth finding out that I never want to eat that again. It consists of a pkg of cream cheese, a half cup of peanut butter, a cup of powdered sugar and a container of Cool Whip all mixed together into a graham cracker crust. Next time I will use 3/4 cup of peanut butter. I'll make it again because it was so easy and they liked it, but way too fattening for me!!

Trish,your longer eating window might be ok. I think it depends on what you ate. I don't think our eating window has to be short every day. I am learning that our bodies know what they are doing better than we do. They know how to make adjustments for how we treat it. Listen to your body. I hope your pain is diminishing.

Today is Friday and we usually eat out. We don't always get fish now that Lent is over. I don't know what I want so I will let DH choose. I can usually find something wherever he wants to go. Its raining. I hope it doesn't rain all day because I don't want to have to go out in the rain.

Weight today was 184 lbs. I did see 183.? but didn't count it because it was later after shower and it won't be there tomorrow. Still haven't heard from DBS, but since today is DS and DBIL anniversary, we are going out to eat today for steaks. I'm thinking about getting chicken fried steak/country fried whichever you want to call it. Either way, it will probably mess up today's weight although I will try to fast until them to compensate. I started taking fish oil again yesterday and I think it helped me have a really good BM and that is why the lower weight.

Carol Sue, DH had a place on his arm that looked like it might be infected with streaks going up arm. I learned years ago with DH#2 to make what his grandmother called a biscuit polese (don't know how to spell it) made by heating a piece of bread with milk and putting on the area and it stops it from becoming blood poisoning. I used it a lot with DH#2 and once before with DH. Anyway, I'm not sure I was really hungry but I have always loved bread and the smell of that bread hit me and I just had to have a slice. I was surprised that my weight went down instead of up.

I have read of people who eat within a 12 hr eating window and actually lost weight, but wouldn't trust it myself although eating smaller window doesn't help me lose any faster. LOL I have thought of doing a longer window and eating smaller meals almost like snacks instead of big meals, but I'm not sure that would work with me eating one big meal each day with DH. Plus my FBG didn't like the late snack because it was 113 this morning.

I also remember that IE teaches to listen to your body and eat only when you are hungry instead of eating by the clock because our bodies don't have a time clock that says it should eat at 3 meals a day at 7am, noon and 6pm. I still love IE, but never seem to go back to it.

Trish, I have read that we teach our bodies to be hungry. When to expect food. If we eat on a schedule we become hungry at those times. This could be why its difficult at first to start IF. The thought of not eating breakfast sounds terrifying at first but eventually we get used to it and we're not hungry in the morning anymore. Our bodies start to realize we will eat later. A 6 hour window works best for me for weight loss but recently I've gone a little longer. That's because I'm not eating just because its my eating window. I often go beyond the time but then get hungry. I find that as long as its healthy food I'm ok. I eat something to curb my hunger but not go overboard. As long as I continue losing I'm fine even though its,very slow, up and down. I'll get there.

Carol Sue, I've heard that too and I really think it is true. In fact, I think I may try just eating when I'm hungry.

We went to the restaurant close to DS that has the best Country Fried steak. DBIL ordered cheese potato appetizers and I had one to taste. Since I never by potatoes anymore, I ordered garlic flavored mashed potatoes along with my steak and green beans. I also ate one roll with butter. The strange thing is that I didn't eat all my food. I ate enough of the potatoes and green beans to satisfy my taste for it. Ate about 1/3 of the fried steak and brought the rest of the steak home. I will take the breading off when I get hungry and just eat the steak. In fact, all 4 of us ended up bringing food for later. DH and I always order smaller orders so ours is enough for a snack and DS and DBIL always get larger orders and take home enough for another meal. So far I've only had the one meal and may not eat anything else today.

If I could get back to eating intuitively, I probably would automatically do IF without even trying.

Ended up eating the other half of the steak when I got hungry and ended eating within 5 hrs. Didn't track because don't know how to track some foods but I think I had a good day since only had equivalent to 1 meal and a snack.

Scale is up to 186.4 but I'm not surprised because I ate spaghetti. Chicken Parmesan with a side of spaghetti. The chicken breast is huge! I ate half and brought the rest home for Rusty. I would have liked to bring it home for myself but Rusty really loves chicken.

Trish, I often don't know how to track some foods so I guess. Its an estimate. If MFP has several choices for a food I choose one in the middle. When we have McDonalds breakfast sandwiches I order mine without cheese. A slice of cheese is about 100 calories so instead of tracking 1 sandwich I track .85. That deducts off calories. I also order salads without cheese and without bacon bits. Sometimes I track it the way it is and that allows me some extra calories for the day. Most foods I eat don't have a label so I rarely know exact counts. I like cheese eaten by itself but I rarely like it with eggs or meat, so no omlettes,no cheese on sandwiches. I like it on pizzashootera casserole. I used to like it but my tastes changed. Another funny thing is I used to hate bacon but now I love it. I don't know if that's good or bad.

It sounds like you enjoyed your meal with your family. We are invited to step sons for Sunday. DH doesn't want to go. I told him he has to be the one who calls to say no, so we are going. He wanted ME to say no.

I am saddened to hear the details of the school shooting. Mistakes were made. The teacher opened the locked door!! I'm sure she never thought a shooter would come in. What were the chances?

Weight was down to 182 lbs this morning and FBG 101 so all is well. I had 3 large strawberries, a small banana and a protein shake for brunch. I want to get back to 2MD if I can and don't always want to cook brunch decided that it would be a good time to have a shake. I could even drink a shake at night if I find I need something. I would love to do IE, but just not ready to trust myself to that one. Plus with the weight coming down to 182, I would like to see the scale continue to go lower. I would love to be in the 170s when I go to the doctor in August.

I've got chicken tenders in the crockpot. I have pork baby back ribs planned for Monday and DH will want McD CB Tuesday and I will get LJS fish after my perm Wednesday. Tomorrow will be breakfast for dinner. So I've pretty much got the week planned.

Carol Sue, it is really sad that there were so many mistakes made with the school shooting here in TX. I attributed that to it being a small town but not sure that is true. I found out yesterday that in the very small town where Daddy and DSM lived there are signs all around their school warning would be shooters that all their people are armed and trained to defend the school. I've since learned they aren't the only TX schools that have armed teachers and/or staff members. I think it is such a shame that our children can't just be kids any more. The world is getting so crazy these days.

We did enjoy getting together with DS and DBIL. We missed DBS but decided that we need to get together more often whether she comes with us or not. She has so many kids and grands that I think they keep them busy. I've gotten so used to staying home since the pandemic that I have to push myself to go anywhere, but I do enjoy it when I go. I'm sure y'all will do the same going to your step sons.

I did not weight today. Have had some baked goods the last two days, so I will just accept that. I am eating today as I am on a committee having a BBQ tonight that I organized. Yesterday was a community clean up event with lunch, and today the committee that organizes the clean up is having a social event that I organized. I have really enjoyed all the outdoor socializing as it seems safe and fun. I have counted now that I have had Covid "exposures" 4 times outdoors and once indoors and have not gotten covid. We wondered after the indoor exposure in January, but did not have rapid tests available so we are not sure, but if we got it, it was mild. But the exposure was shortly after our December booster shots, so maybe we were just super immune from that.
IN any case, meeting outdoors seems to minimize risk well enough, and now that the good weather is here, we can see people all summer long. That will be great.

Still not sleeping as long as I would like, but getting to sleep ok at night. After that bad insomnia Tuesday night, I hope not to repeat that for a long time. It kind of pushed me over the edge with a busy week and weekend, and we had to cancel plans last night. This week is better however.

Trish, you are doing well planning your meals and getting down to 182. You should be seeing 179 soon.

DH wants to go to Walmart. I want to go to the meat store. They are in opposite directions. I know he is going to want breakfast at Bob Evans and I definitely do not. I have some things I want to do before we go to step sons. I don't know how I'm going to fit all this in.

So I will be busy but will check in later.

Carol Sue, I hope you can get everything in today and enjoy being with your stepsonu and his family.

Weight was 183.4 lbs th is morning but it isn't unusual for me to bounce. FBG 99. I love seeing the lower FBG readings and hope that I can finally keep it under 100. Nothing special going on here today. Our day will be much like any other.

I've been taking meds at night to sleep as well as using the tens machine on my back and it seems to be working.

Glad the meds and tens are helping Trish. We can get a tens machine thru our insurance and DH wants me to order one. I will wait til July since I already spent the money for this quarter. We had an old one years ago.

I got everything done I wanted to do. We got the meat first and I got a cake to take to step son's. Restaurants were crowded so we went to McDonalds drive thru. Then on to Wal-Mart for a few things we needed. We got there before it got crowded. Then DG went in Busy Beaver to get a part for the downstairs toilet. It leaks. I told him to just buy a new one because its as old as the house. 51 years old. He has spent $50 so far trying to fix it. Men. Busy Beaver was crowded. Its a beautiful day today and people were buying plants and things to do yard work. Memorial Day is not celebrated like it is Independence day. This is when its safe to plant here in PA.

Today we were supposed to have Low Country boil at step son's but there was a water main break near their home and they have no water. They are taking all the food to his in laws and cooking it there and asked us to come there. That's another hour past their house. By the time we get there and eat it will be late, then we will have to drive home at night, almost 2 hours. He's angry that we aren't coming. They will just stay overnight there but we can't because we have Rusty.

Tomorrow we will cook hamburgers and hot dogs. Maybe chicken and potato salad. No big deal. I just remembered I bought a bag of slaw mix to make crack slaw. I didn't make it so maybe I will make Cole Slaw tomorrow.

Some places are having parades and celebrations for veterans who gave their lives. We don't go to that anymore.

Boy did I sleep good last night! It might be because I overate carbs yesterday. I feel very refreshed. My legs feel strong and I'm walking good. I don't want to have to go back to eating like that all the time, though. Bad for the scale. I didn't get on yet but I will. I have to face the music.

I think DH is going to want to go to the casino. It will be crowded on the holiday and I hate that but I don't think I can talk him out of it. I want to stay home and do laundry. We'll see.

Scale says 187. I was 186.4 on Saturday and didn't weigh Sunday so up .6 isn't bad for the way I've been eating. So far I've had nothing today. I have chicken in the oven so that will be brunch. I've been hungry for chicken and you can't get chicken on the bone in a sit down restaurant. My chicken is roasted, so no coating. I think I will cook chicken more often and keep fresh ground beef on hand for DH. I'm tired of always,eating what he wants. His choices are limited. I think he is supposed to eat whatever I cook. I like the set up Mad has, each doing their own thing most days.!

Weight today is down to 182.2 today. FBG 97. So happy with the way things are going. I'm eating more intuitively except at main meal. I even got hungry for sweet potato fries so cooked some in air-fryer and had it for a snack. Ended up with 1 meal and 2 snacks within 6 hr eating window.

Carol Sue, the only meal I plan for and cook is once a day around 3 or 4 pm. The rest of the day DH and I do our own thing. It is so much nicer than when I had to plan 3 meals a day with DH#2. He gets his snacks he wants but I haven't been doing that and end up hungry sometimes, but nothing to eat because I don't want his junk food. There are things I would make but he can't eat them and I don't want to tempt him so that keeps me from eating the junk foods I would love to have. So that is a win-win for us.

I haven't been faithful with exercise since my leg pain but going to work at getting back to it today and shoot for 3 days this week on the recumbent bike.

I had my fruit and coffee for brunch and we will have the baby back ribs with corn on the cob and a salad for our Memorial meal today.

I ate chicken for brunch and it was,satisfying.

DH cooks breakfast most days. Sometimes I eat it and sometimes I don't. I often eat brunch so no lunch but DH eats lunch. Sometimes DH cooks dinner because there are things he cooks,better than I do. Some dinners I cook and sometimes we eat out. The problem is he usually wants me to eat with him. If the cooking and planning was entirely up to me I would go back to the way I was when I was single. I'm doing the best I can with our situation.

We are going to the casino. I will be reading in the food court. If I gamble it won't be until later if/when the crowd thins out. Many people have to go to work tomorrow. DH won some money on the lottery so he wants to invest it in the casino!!

Carol Sue, If I was single, I would eat a lot different than I do now. For one thing, I think I would automatically have a lot of fasting days. I'm not sure if I eat some meals because I am hungry or because I am cooking. We definitely have to do the best we can.

I love your DH investing his winnings in the casino statement. I had to laugh because I used to win and invest in more scratch offs. It was for fun because I sure wasn't taking advantage of the money I won most of the time.

We came home with the same money we went with so no loss or gain. Kinda like weight!

I'm glad you're doing well, Trish. I just realized I haven't been taking my fish oil. I think I just missed this week. That's what lowers my triglycerides. I will have to make sure I get back to it tomorrow.
