Maxxx17, Welcome.
Carol Sue, When I was in OA years ago, we were taught to use the AA program to get control of compulsive overeating. We had a sponsor who was to be the person who would be like our coach. We were to plan our meals for the day and call her and report what we planned to eat. Later when I was on another online group, we would make our plan for the day and then go online and post out foodplan for the day. I learned from OA to eat only 3 meals a day and I chose the low carb plan. I never lost weight very good on plain low carb without any starchy carbs, but I did feel great and I felt thin. We were all shocked the night a lady came to one of our meetings and told us that she lost weight without cutting out all her starches. She said "If I want a milk shake, I have one but that is all I have that day". We thought she was crazy. Her plan was equivalent to todays Intermittent Fasting. Didn't keep the 182.8 but I didn't think I would. Weight this morning was 183.6. FBG was down to 102. I see all that as a good thing. Not really changing a lot on my plan. I had my eggs and bacon with the avocado salad combo that Dr. Berry's wife had only I mixed mine all together and I have a new favorite breakfast dish and no bread. We will have pork chops today and I will have mine with a salad and a small serving of fruit. I will add a veggie for DH. I will have a shake later to end my 8 hr eating window. Fatmad Always good to hear from you. You are doing very well. |
Trish, I have a funny story for you. First of all, I did not follow my good plan for today. I ate so many carbs I lost count and don't really want to know. Tomorrow is another day. But I noticed this evening I don't have any pain anywhere. I wonder if eating all those carbs made my pain go away. Well we went to the casino and at the end of the night I mentioned to DH that I don't have any pain and that I was able to walk really good all around the casino. And he said "Yes, I noticed that. You aren't walking like a penguin!" So I walk like a penguin!
Now that I think about it I don't think I had any pain yesterday, either. I don't remember when I last had pain. Not even my hand that has the arthritic finger. Maybe the pain is during colder weather. Its been hot for about 3 days, near 80. Its going to be cold over the weekend so we will see if my pain comes back. No nap today and lots of walking so maybe I will sleep tonight. I sure would like to fast all day tomorrow! I made myself track my food. 1450 cals and 178 GM of carb. Not good but it could have been worse I guess. Goodnight. |
So,the scale is up to 187.2. Getting closer to 190.I'm not happy but I did it to myself. I don't want to go back to 190. I have to learn not to give in to temptation.
So far today I had 1 egg and 1 slice of bacon. For lunch I had a cup of cheese popcorn. For dinner I want a hamburger patty with cheese from the new ground beef I just bought. I haven't tracked yet so I don't know what it comes to. I will have veggies with my burger. We went to the green house and bought tomato plants. $20. The tomatoes I buy are $1.99 lb so I could buy 10 lb of tomatoes. DH enjoys having the little garden. I tried to get a bag of chicken tenderloins at Aldi's. Nope! So went to the store to get some good ground beef and I looked for chicken tenderloins there. They had some but the bags were full of ice. So I will try the Aldi's next to Wal-Mart and also Walmart. I hope I can find them somewhere. We like them and they are easy to cook. |
Carol Sue, I know I hate it when the scale jumps up because it takes longer to get it back down than it does to bounce up. I finally got back to 183.6 yesterday and still there today. I seem to be seeing this number more this week than any other.
Babysister's Grandaughter is graduating from college tomorrow night and we are having a graduation party for her Saturday. It will be an eating bash as well so not sure what we will be eating that day. I will definitely have to be careful. Her Mother's family are black and if they cook anything like my DBIL there will be some wonderful tasting carby foods. It will definitely be an OFF day and I will pay for it for a few days after. I will fast until we get there and hope I will be able to fast after or at least make it a CAD kind of day. I bought some pretty salmon fillets at Walmart and I am going to try cooking them today. I thought I would pan fry them in garlic butter sauce I cook my scampi in. I would love to find a way to get that natural O-mega 3 fish into my menu. I had my new guacamole bacon egg mixture for brunch. I could eat this for breakfast the rest of my life. Thank God for being able to buy the small avocados in a bag at Walmart for a decent price. I had to pay $1.68 each at the local store for the same size. Then DH decided he had to go to Walmart or I wouldn't have bought them there. I payed more for 3 of them at the local store than I did for a bag of 5 at Walmart. That is crazy. I don't buy cantaloupe except at Walmart because the local store charges a dollar more each for the same thing. I hope you can find your chicken tenders. I have decided that I like them better than the breast. Have a nice day. |
Trish, I hate to get a bump up but I know I deserve this one. Today I had 1007 cals with 54 GM of carb. Much more acceptable. My burger was very good. Swiss cheese, onion, tomato and lettuce, no bun.
I cook my salmon on my grill pan with olive oil. I would like to learn how to poach it. Maybe I can find a video. When we went to Aldi we found cheese popcorn that DH likes. Wal-Mart stopped selling it. It is good and not too salty. I got a call that Wal-Mart has a prescription for one of us so we will go tomorrow. I hope they have the chicken tenderloins. _____________________________ Trish, A woman on another forum has started working with a fitness/nutrition trainer. She put her on an exercise and diet plan based on her height, weight, foods she likes, etc. The exercises are a lot I can't do because I can't get on the floor. I don't know what foods she is eating but she said "I have a hard time having the higher carb foods, my macros from her 159 grams carbs, 124 grams protein and 47 grams of fat so I have a problem with carbs maybe this is why I always slide back to eating whatever." They seem like unusual macros. She is to eat 1550 calories per day. I am curious to hear how she does on this. She has always been an avid exerciser. _________________________ I didn't go to Walmart. Maybe later. I am working on eating a,smaller breakfast. Today DH made egg salad so I made a half sandwich on 1 slice of Sara Lee bread. That's small, 195 cals, compared to my normal 2-3 eggs with bacon. I plan on having cooked vegetables for lunch. I will let DH decide on dinner. May 01. 186.6 May 02. 186.2 May 03. 185.2 May 04 184.0 May 05 185.2 May 06. 187.0 May 07. 187.0 May 08 186.4 May 09, 185.6 May 10 186.6 May 11 186.0 May 12. 187.2 May 13. 186.0 Glad I went back down. |
Carol Sue, I think that protein count for that woman is high, but I could be wrong. Maybe she is younger and more active than me. Sounds like a high protein/carb low fat diet to me. I am learning that there are so many different forms of low carb diets and high protein diets etc. I'm not sure what I am on. And I have to wonder if the the macros even matter.
I had my avocado/egg/bacon breakfast this morning. I love to take my coffee and put it in the magic bullet and foam it like Starbucks. Feels like a treat. I add a little bit of coconut oil. You talked about your chicken tenders so I have mine in the crockpot with cream of chicken soup that I added garlic and onion to for flavor. Will have carrots and salad with it. I plan to fast tomorrow until we eat at the graduation party then Sunday I plan to get stricter on my fasting period. My weight is 183.6 and no sign of budging. I will also get serious about adding the recumbent bike to my exercise plan. I really want to see 170s before I go to the doctor in August. Have a great day. |
Trish, I agree that both the carbs and protein for that woman are high and the fat is low. She is young enough to still work but I think she's over 50. Not sure. The exercise she has her doing is more strenuous than I could do so maybe that's why the higher carbs and protein.
I did a lot of running around today. Bob Evans for dinner, Goodwill, Walmart and the full service grocery. Wal-Mart had no chicken except legs and thighs. The full service grocery had tenderloins and breasts. They were $$$$ but at least I got them. They probably had them because they were too $$$$ for anyone else to buy. If I had gone to Wal-Mart earlier they might have had them but I didn't make it in the morning. I also got a hair cut. |
HI everyone: still between 157 and 158. Was not able to fast so well with DH away as I hoped. I take the ferry to join him and Buddy at the cottage today.
SO not much to say, just want to check in as I am not post while away. We have lovely weather here. Hope you do as well. take care. |
Fatmad You have a safe trip to the cottage and y'all a great time there. The weather here is nice but hot. From what the local weather man says we are having record highs this next week and will have some 2 or 3 days in 100s this coming week which means we will be staying indoors with AC. I don't complain much because I remember the days growing up when we didn't have AC. Told my DD that when DH#1 was living, we had a water fan and I would have to go outside and take a hose and run water in the bottom of it so the house would cool off inside before we had those, we slept with the windows open praying for a breeze. Anything became a hand fan. Guess my age shows there.
Today is the graduation party. I am looking forward to seeing all my nieces and nephews who can make it. I don't know who planned the food. One of my nieces used to have a catering business that she took over when her grandfather retired so I don't know if she still does that or not. If she caters the party, it could be low carb friendly foods along with carby foods since some in the family do lc/keto eating so not sure what the meal will be. So I'm just planning whichever way it goes by fasting making this a CAD like day if need be. Only had a cup and half of coffee so far. I guess my body like me drinking the protein drink because my FBG is lower when I drink it at night. So that will have to make that my finally meal of the day to close out the 8 hr eating window each day. Carol Sue Our local store does the same thing. I used to buy all meat at local store and still buy beef there, but I have to get all other meat at Walmart. Now I do like getting the chicken breasts at the local store because they are so large that DH and I can half one for a meal. So four fresh chicken breasts becomes 4 meals instead of 2 like they smaller ones were. BTW we liked the salmon cooked in the same type of sauce I cook scampi in. That is another thing that will have to be divided also. The fillets were too big so I could get 2 meals out of the 2 in a package I got from Walmart. I'm glad we can eat because they say it is the best source of Omega 3. That is good too because Sam's isn't getting the cod fillets I used to buy there and I don't like them from any where else. I need to do our meds for next week and I have just enough time to get that done before we leave. Ann, I can't remember if you are on another trip or just busy with your crafts for upcoming sale. Have a great day everybody. |
Enjoy your stay at the cottage, Mad.
What are you up to, Ann? My weight is back up. May 01. 186.6 May 02. 186.2 May 03. 185.2 May 04 184.0 May 05 185.2 May 06. 187.0 May 07. 187.0 May 08 186.4 May 09, 185.6 May 10 186.6 May 11 186.0 May 12. 187.2 May 13. 186.0 May 14. 187.6 Weighing and reporting daily is not good for me. It causes stress. Stressful thoughts that others are judging me for my failures. In reality, I know that others are concerned about their own losses and gains, not mine. I want to post losses, not gains. I have been having slight pain and difficulty walking the past couple days. I don't know what made Wednesday different. The hairdresser even noticed it and asked about it yesterday. I blamed it on arthritis but I don't really know the reason, especially after feeling so good on Wednesday. I got up really early today and was famished by 9 oclock. I had eggs and bacon. The bacon I bought was cheaper but we liked it. Now its gone and I don't expect to go to Wal-Mart until Monday. I hate crowds. I want a salad for lunch but I'm too lazy to make it. I want to cook chicken for dinner. |
Carol Sue, You aren't a failure as long as you are trying. My daily WI looks the same as yours with such fluctuations. The fluctuations to seem to level out but still happens. I've never posted them online like others do but I think I would feel the same way.
Sorry about the walking not being as good as it was. I do the same thing and I'm not sure why. I will use my cane today because I feel so unsure of my surroundings. We are older and things are different for us now. |
Trish I am just feeling sorry for myself because I was bouncing in the low to mid 180s and now I'm bouncing in the mid to high 180s. I really don't want to see 190 again! So I guess I should do something about it.
I'm cooking chicken breast in cream of chicken soup today. I'm reading a book about food addiction, or compulsive overeating written by a Dr or Nutritionist who specializes in food addiction. I feel like I'm reading about myself. Eating because the food is there not because you are hungry. Eating until you are stuffed then wondering why you did it. I hope at some point she tells how to change it. _____________________________ I cook my chicken and cream of chicken soup in the oven instead of the slow cooker. I saw a woman put cheddar cheese on hers. I don't buy cheddar because its not a favorite but I put mozzarella on it and it was good. DH doesn't like when I change recipes but I don't think he noticed the cheese. |
Well, graduation party is behind us and we really enjoyed it. My great nieces is beautiful. I haven't seen her since Daddy passes away. She used to go visit with Daddy all the time. She is going for her Master's in education next and wants to eventually get her Ph.D. She is so smart. Her Mama's Mama is 78 yrs old and has dementia. She had told DBS that she was going to dance today. She does that to keep her legs from hurting. So all us women you and old, danced. I have to say I really enjoyed dancing. DBS and I talked about how Mama used to turn on her Christian music and dance in the kitchen. She and Daddy both would have been so proud of DBS DGD.
Food was great and so easy to stay close to OP. The only off plan I had was the homemade peach cobbler that DBIL made plus I had a spoonful of mashed potatoes he made at the request of the graduate. DBS low carbs, so she got a serving of the peach cobbler then she and I divided it in half to eat. I was going to eat a small slice of the cake but they were waiting for graduate to cut it and I lost interest in it. So I think I ended up doing very well. Carol Sue, I don't think I would like cheddar on the chicken cooked in cream of chicken soup, but the mozzarella sounds enticing. I will try that next time as it would be nice to have a different way to fix it. DH is sleeping through the movie he just turned on and I just might join him in a short nap too. |
Trish, It sounds like you had a nice time at the party. I can imagine you all dancing and having fun. It's fun to celebrate the success of our young people.
DH didn't notice the cheese on the chicken. I only sprinkled a bit over top, not a lot but it was a nice change. I got on the scale and it registered 187.4, down .2. Then I went to the bathroom and weighed again. 186.6. Guess which one I'm keeping!! I never weigh twice. I just accept the first number I get. When I got on the scale this morning DH yelled "Help! Help! Get off me!". He thinks he's so funny! There is a doctor on Twitter who says he has poor sleep if he does low carb too many days in a row and some others agreed. I might consider carb cycling, every other day or so. I was reading about it and you can use whatever pattern you like. Low carb days should be 50 or below and high carb days can be up to 150. That's not terribly high carb when its mixed in with low carb and it should be healthy carbs, not sugar. I think 150 carbs is what I eat when I'm not watching carbs. There are a few free books on carb cycling on Amazon but I don't have Kindle unlimited right now. The book I'm reading now is Food Junkies The Truth about Food Addiction. The follow up is Food Junkies Recovery From Food Addiction. I do not really recommend these books to anyone except compulsive overeaters. |
Weight this morning was 182.6. Down a lb which means I did good yesterday. Of course, I'm not sure if it will stay since I ate 2 meals and a snack today. I've seen it before but it didn't stay so will see how it goes. Been a lazy day.
Carol Sue, what is the name of the guy on twitter. I don't do twitter but wonder if he is on YouTube or Facebook. My carbs could be higher some days and not others so I would love to know how to make that work for me. When DBS came in and set down with DH and me, she told DH and me that she had really been praying for me. She said "Trisha, you didn't look good when I saw you last". She said that I wasn't myself and she thought I was really depressed. Because DS and I are so much olider than her, she has a fear of us dying and leaving her behind. She said thank God, you really look good and are more like yourself. I know I was having difficulty walking that day because I went outside without my cane which is hard for me to do and I guess it scared her. She is so good to encourage me to stay OP and says she is going to get DH and me out more. We both are going to have to work on encouraging DS. |
