Trish, I think this is the weight loss candy from years ago. I know I tried it. They were good!! :D

I remember I bought these things you stuck on the bottom of your feet at bedtime. The next morning when you pulled them off they were all black from toxins that came out of your body. After about 3 nights I ended up in the ER with chest pains and needed a stent. I don't think they caused it but I never used the rest of them. Who knows if that was really toxins.

I have always had dry flaky skin and got a lot of rashes. I know that diabetes causes dry skin but I had it long before diabetes. Online it lists all these different lotions and moisturizers to use but all the ones I try cause more irritation. I don't know if I'm allergic to ingredients. I would like to heal it from the inside out.

I remember those Ayds candies, my mother bought me a box when I was a teenager, supposed to have one or two with a cup of tea before every meal, I ate them like candy,
Carol, one of the items I sell is a salve made with Yarrow. It grows wild over most of the US, I pick it and dry it in a shaded place, i then fil a jar with the dried parts and cover with extra virgin olive oil and heat gently for 24-36 hours, I use organic bees wax to thicken to a salve. It is wonderful for any skin issues: rash, abrasions, dry skin, insect bite allergies, cuts, deep wounds, It has natural anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. Perhaps you can find a local supplier for herbal salves,

pattygirl63 04-14-2022 09:32 PM

Yes, I remember now. Aydes and they were still around when I got grown and tried them. I stopped buying them because I wanted to eat them like any other candy and figured I was defeating the purpose. I don't know if I lost any weight or not. Probably not.

Today has been another good day. I did have 2 meals and a snack and ended with 1407 calories and net carbs of 25 which turned out to be only 10% of calories. If I can continue doing this ratio of protein, fats and carbs, I will find out if it makes a difference in weight loss.

Hi everyone: talking about old fads, did anyone do Herbalife? My Dad did it. When he went to less physical jobs at the factory where he worked most of his adult life, he sometimes gained weight. At first he managed it by packing a smaller lunch, like fewer cookies, one sandwich instead of two, since he was not burning as many calories. But as he got older and less physical he did gain some weight. (I had left home by then, and he was never fat, but obviously, he felt it).
He did Herbalife and got into selling it. The "herbs" contained caffeine and another stimulant, I think guanine? or something like that? Any how, he did lose weight, but did not make money in that multi-level marketing scheme (they never do, but he never got that, he was the one they saw coming every time) but I do think those stimulants affected his heart, which lead to his health problems. He was born with a slightly weak valve, but I think the stimulants made it worse. I know lots of people had heart issues from Phen-fen (i think that was it) and I would not doubt that might have been in his supplements too.
You are right as well Trish and Carol: if you can stick with it, no diet works.
I get hungry if DH is eating and cooking so many things. The smell of cooking my do it. Often he has canned or packaged soups, crackers, toast. etc when I am not cooking or eating. If he has a large caesar salad, its not so tempting, no smell of cooking. I can't even have what he is eating most of the time, but it makes me hungry and tempted to have something.
Last night I made ginger beef stir fry. I stuck to plan well yesterday, and weigh over a pound less, but that is residual water weight from the carb heavy start of the week.
The little girls are coming over today to do Ukranian Easter eggs. So excited to have them here.

Have a good day everyone, hope the weekend weather will be good.

Well, my pain is not as bad as it was. My skin is still inflamed and red. I put some DrTeals cream on one arm at bedtime and that arm is not as red and blotchy as the other so maybe Dr Teals cream is ok. I know it will take some time for the inflammation to calm down. I took Benadryl again at bedtime. I think it helps slightly with sleep and I didn't get as itchy overnight. It is,still cool enough to wear long sleeves.

I just saw a weather report calling for snow on Tuesday! Yikes!

11 AM and the cookies are finally done. The dough for the sugar cookies was not right. It was hard to roll. I got it to work, I don't know what I did wrong. People don't care. They just pop them in their mouth.

I still have to make the beet horseradish and Easter cheese. I'm running behind. Tomorrow afternoon we are going to step sons and to step daughters on Easter. This is the most socializing I've done since 2019. We went to 2 outdoor events.

Gone Astray 04-15-2022 12:41 PM

Well yesterday I went out and bought a Cricut cutter machine, I had been looking at them since last Fall. When I did a craft fair here in town the girl next to me was selling odd stuff. A lot of her items were cheap glass beer and wine glasses with stickers on them,. People were grabbing them up She told me she put a down payment on a house with the profit from seling these She sells at craft fairs and FB market place, I don't plan to branch out, but who knows? Anyhow, I can use it to make stencils for my wood projects, Kelly and the girls are coming up tonight so we can play and I told Kell to bring up some plain glasses and the girls can make designs for them.

All my life I have scrimped and saved, when I was married any refund was taken by my ex. Since I have been single I have used it for necessities, this year I decided I was going to use it for things I wanted. I have always been a saver , I have cheaped out on things to save money. I saved and went without while my husband blew 30k or more on his toys and trips and in the end I to give him half of everything I saved. So, I am going to enjoy life, buy what I really want and not beat myself up over it. Can you tell I still feel guilty?

Wannabehealthy 04-15-2022 01:04 PM

Ann, I am not into crafts. Anything I make looks like crap. People make so many nice things but I don't buy much because I don't have a place to put things.

We rarely got a tax refund. I tried to break even or owe a little. Our credit cards were always maxed out when the kids were here. I paid everything off with my severance pay and now we pay it in full every month. Whatever's left is play money.

The beet horseradish is done and DH went to the store to get the whole milk for Easter cheese. I hope to get it all done today so I can relax tomorrow.

On Sunday morning I will cook my small ham for us and make potato salad for us and to take to step daughters. That's about the extent of our celebrating.

pattygirl63 04-15-2022 03:27 PM

Y'all all busy for the Easter weekend and planning fun times with friends and family. That is great. Ours will be no different than any other weekend. Nothing planned. I haven't heard from babysister since they moved into their own place, but I heard their kids are there visiting all the time. So happy for them.

DS was supposed to be traveling to spend the weekend with her DD & SIL but DBIL got a call from his boss wanting to know who is working in his place this weekend. DBIL decided it is too late to get someone and he wouldn't ruin someone elses Easter weekend. So they couldn't go.

Fatmad, I have a cousin who uses Herbalife. She and her daughters lost weight on it. I tried it years ago when a friend Mama's sold it and had such a terrible reaction that I couldn't take it. I don't think I even finished the product. It made me lifeless and I lay on the couch all the time because I had no energy. They claimed it would go away and I would feel better, but I had to work and couldn't waste time on the couch.

Weight was down to even 182, but not sure it is real. FBG was 96 so that is good.

Hope everybody has a blessed and safe weekend.

Wannabehealthy 04-15-2022 05:14 PM

Trish, I would really prefer to have a quiet day with just us but I will not stand between DH spending the holiday with his kids. I think he would rather stay home too and its his kids spending time with their Dad. We don't see them a lot. I'm just glad I don't have it here anymore.

I think other than Ayds I never tried any weight loss supplements. Until I met DH I didn't have a big problem controlling my weight.

We went out for fish. Tonight we will make the Easter Cheese. It isn't really cheese. It is eggs and milk and looks like cheese, but tastes like egg. I like to eat it topped with beet horseradish. So all will be done. Tomorrow I will cook the potatoes and eggs for potato salad but not put it together until Sunday morning. Then it will be all over until Thanksgiving. Monday I start exercising. I can't wait to ride my recumbent bike.

pattygirl63 04-16-2022 01:24 AM

DS called and they worked things out for DBIL so he could have off this weekend so they could go see their DD and her DH. Glad they got to go.

I had a long eating window today, but when I tracked on MFP the macros were okay. Another high sodium day so took a Lasix something I don’t do very often anymore.
I probably messed up my 182 with my eating today. Don’t know why I was so hungry.

fatmad 04-16-2022 08:16 AM

Hi everyone: 154.5 today. I assume part of that is the clean out I have had in the last 24 hrs. So I don't expect it to stay there after eating today and tomorrow, no matter how "on plan" I stay.
Not worried about it, just realistic. Hope to be below 150 at the end of the month. How many times have I said that and then I self sabotage. In any case, I get to be in charge of dessert tomorrow so my home made tiramisu will be low carb and high fat. I do use a tiny bit of real sugar too. I will go get the marscapone cheese today.
Carol: your "Easter Cheese" sounds like an unsweetened custard? do you bake or steam it? I have never heard of this.

Ann: I too am the saver in the family, but at least my husband is not a spender. You sound really jazzed about your crafting and what you can do with this new cutter. I am also not very crafty, but I admire the results and those who can do things. It sounds like you are having fun with it, and I hope you won't feel guilty for feeding your passion. Having interests in things other than food is essential for our wellbeing, and even our weight loss. I think its great you have a focus that is fun.
Yesterday, we tried the Ukranian Easter eggs with the little girls. (not so little now at 11 and 8). we quickly learned that none of us was careful or creative enough to go with traditional designs. It worked well with simpler designs. The eight year old did the best with interesting colour combinations that worked well in spite of my doubts. She also had great ideas about how to design hers. The older one cracked her first egg and did better with the 2nd, it turned out well, but she wasn't happy with it. Both of mine were ok, one trad and one simple. The simple one is really good, if I do say so myself. Now to varnish them. I have some ideas to improve things for next year.

Have a good day everyone, and Happy Easter.

Wannabehealthy 04-16-2022 08:57 AM

Easter Cheese (Sirek) can be made 2 ways. Ours is 12 eggs, 1qt milk, 1tsp salt, 1 tbs sugar. Put it in a pot over low heat stirring constantly. After 10-15 minutes it thickens into curds and whey. You pour it into cheesecloth and form a ball. Hang it (from a knob of upper cabinet) until it stops draining and is cool. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate. The other recipe is for a sweet custard and uses a cup of sugar. Both are Slovak. Some love it, like me, some hate it. Our is very bland. I like to eat it with beet horseradish. I vary the amount of horseradish I use because some like it mild, some like it hot. Once I am gone no one will have these traditions. No one else makes it any longer. My MIL used fresh beets and horseradish. I cheat. I use canned sliced beets which I drain and mash. Mix in horseradish from a jar. No one notices the difference.

I put some hard cooked eggs in the juice I drained from the beets with vinegar for pickled eggs. I'm the only one who eats them.

I was so tired yesterday. I napped for an hour after dinner, then I went to bed at 8:30. Fell asleep instantly. Up at 7:30.

pattygirl63 04-16-2022 03:30 PM

Fatmad, I can't believe those little girls have grown so fast. I remember when they were born and became more like family to you. Sounds like y'all had a wonderful time together.

I too am bad about sabotaging myself. Trying very hard not to do that this time.

Carol Sue, I have often thought about making pickled eggs as I think I would like them but don't think I could make the cheese ball. I don't have the patients.

Weight was still 182 and has been within the 182 range for 5 days. I did the same thing when I weighed in the 183 range. I've decided that my weight loss is in a different routine I haven't seen with the losses I've had to this point. I am in a new weight range that I haven't weighed in a long time. So now I have decided that I may find myself losing and staying in at one weight range for certain # days before I lose another lb. Ii think this is the way of a slower weight loss and I also believe it is much better than losing fast.

Have a happy Easter weekend everyone.

Wannabehealthy 04-16-2022 07:00 PM

Trish, I think slow weight loss stays gone. You are doing great!

We had a very nice time at step sons. She is a very good cook and we had a delicious meal. I'm glad they had things DH would eat since he is so picky. Now I hope step daughter does the same. I know he likes the potato salad I'm taking.

DGS was happy to get the Easter candy and cookies we took for him and we also gave him $$$. We don't see him often so we spoil him when we do.

Tomorrow morning I will make the potato salad and bake my ham. Then off to step daughters.
