Another great night of sleep. I wish I knew if this is something I'm doing so it will continue. I did have a short nap in the evening.

Mad, baked goods are not a weakness for me. I might eat one or two of the chocolate morsels but rarely the finished cookies. If any turn out misshapen they get set aside for DH. My eating issue is too much real food. The exception is chocolate. If I buy a bag of Hershey's Kisses it can be gone in 2 days. If I made a pot of chili I would keep going back til the pot is empty. Even if I refrigerate the leftovers, I know they are there and will go back for them. It was different when I worked. I would take the leftovers for lunch. But now I must cook only the amount we are going to eat. I used to give my leftovers to SIL to take for his lunch but he now eats OMAD. He was never overweight. That is just his preference.

Part of my overeating yesterday was because I gave in and bought a box of Triscuit Thins. Even seeing the Triscuits commercial on tv sets me off. Given a plate of crackers vs a plate of cookies I will choose the crackers. Savory over sweet.

I have a sirloin tip roast in the slow cooker with baby carrots, sliced onion and cream of mushroom soup. I cut up a head of cauliflower to make baked breaded cauliflower for the first time. Its easy enough but I've never done it before. I used to make it in the microwave using frozen cauliflower but am trying it from fresh this time.

Ann, I used to love to make crafts as gifts, but don't do that anymore. Have fun showing your items and selling them.

Carol Sue, I do the same thing. I remember a time in my life when I could go for hours never hungry and never got tempted to even taste food. Now I do better if I either don't bring some foods in the house or cook just what we will eat so that I don't go back for seconds.

Mad, I hope the pain around the injection spot will go away quickly.

I woke up early and weighed and weight was 185. I was so very upset as this is WI day for me but wasn't surprised because of snacking last night. I went back to bed and by the time I got up and went potty, weight was back down to 183.6 which is .2 lb less than yesterday. Amazing what a difference a BM can make. I remember the guy who weighed us at bariatrics told me that one time.

However, when I had gone back to bed thinking I had gained, I realized that I really need to be more disciplined with my eating. I have made my exercising 5 days a week and self-discipline thing and I now have a month of success under my belt so to speak. So now maybe I need to do the same thing with my eating. I need to do something to get myself jump started with this again so I have decided to just faithfully do 3 meals a day within 8 hr eating window. Most days I will have the 2 protein shakes with 1 meal. My goal is to do this the rest of this month. Of course the first thing I wanted to do this morning was cook eggs, but I didn't. I had a protein shake with a hand full of blueberries and 2 whole strawberries. We haven't had hot dogs in some time so we will have chilli dogs for dinner and I will have my protein shake to close out my 8 hr eating window around 7ish. I just need to set my mind to it and just do it.

Have a nice day everybody.

Wannabehealthy 04-09-2022 03:18 PM

Trish, what kind of chili do you use for your chili dogs? DH likes to get a hot dog at the casino to eat driving home. While I was waiting for it someone got a chili cheese dog. It looked so good but he could not eat that mess while driving!

My chocolate chip cookies are done, ready for the freezer. I turned the slow cooker up to high because the meat wasn't getting done. The cauliflower is in the oven. I had some cauliflower left that I put away to cook another time. I like it raw but its bad for the thyroid. I am really hungry. Rusty smells the meat cooking!!

Trish, its a fluctuation. You know it comes right back off. You are doing great! :carrot:

The cauliflower is disappointing. The breading is too hard and crunchy. I didn't put any salt on it because DHs blood pressure is up. I liked it much better when I used the frozen cauliflower in the microwave. DH isn't eating very much because he doesn't feel well. I tell him to quit the junk food but he doesn't listen.

The roast is good with the mushroom soup gravy.

pattygirl63 04-09-2022 05:42 PM

Carol Sue, I usually have leftover chili from when we eat chili by itself and then DH slices his franks in half and puts them on one slice of SLMG bread and tops it with chili and cheese. I usually just use 2 sl SLMG and make myself 2 hot dogs and top with chili, cheese and onion.

We didn't have chili dogs after all because what I thought was leftover chili was leftover taco meat. Since it was too late to take anything else out to thaw, I decided to just fix chipped beef for DH since we haven't had it in quite some time.

Hope your DH feels better soon.

Wannabehealthy 04-09-2022 06:32 PM

Trish, there was a hotdog stand near our cabin years ago that had chili dogs. They called them dirt dogs. They were good and the only ones I've ever had. One time I bought a can called Hot Dog Chili with no beans. It was ok but I'd like to have a good one again.

DH is feeling better but his BP is still too high. I wish he would stop eating the processed food but its probably too late for him. It scares me.

Tomorrow I want to make the apricot cookies.

pattygirl63 04-10-2022 01:18 AM

Still didn't drink the second shake. Just don't want it at night. The only thing I am being successful at doing is staying within the 8 hr eating window and eating 3 meals. I guess right now the only thing I can do is take it one day at a time. Glad your DH is feeling better.

Gone Astray 04-10-2022 07:20 AM

Carol, I am with you on snacks, savory over sweet anyday. I think as a kid I realized sweets didnt sit well, and often left me shaky. I would ask my mother not to frost my piece of birthday cake, I would rather have a slice of crusty bread, and there is my carb addiction. I think most people would not understand crackers triggering a binge, I do..

Trish, when we have an undeserved bump up on the scale it is so unmotivating, I don't understand how we can be right on program but the scale doesn't show it, WW used to have an article titled Why the Scales Lie. It doesn't take much salt for me to retain water or for me to get constipated and both affect weigh in. Hard as it is I tell myself it is undigested food and water weight. If I stay vigilant it goes way.

Mad, I hope your sholder is better, I don't recall too much pain from mine but after the shingles shot reaction I have a new standard of pain to go by. DBF mentioned booking us for our 2nd booster when I am up there this week. heading up this morning

Well the outdoor craft fair was interesting. Rain was forecasted and it did not dissapoint. it rained and was cold, i had on gloves and a blanket on my lap wishing i had brought my winter parka-I thought about it but decided I was being silly. Then rain stopped and it got windy and colder. Once we had sun and blue sky. Then as I started packing up it started to pour buckets, heard thunder and saw lightening it changed to hail. In spite of the weather a lot of people came out, I didn't sel much but i did get a lot of compliments from lookers and other vendors on my stuff. I socialized a lot with other vendors and that made the day go by. By the time I got home I was soaked, tired and hungry, I unloaded the truck so i wouldn't put it off.

Another happy dance, down another 1 .25 lbs, so that makes 3 lbs down sinces 4/3. I am over 26 lbs down and still a lot to go, I hope IF doesn;t stop working for me, I am doing 2MAD, not sure I could do just one. I got in 6700 steps yesterday and I think shivering must have burned a lot of calories. I had a friend who read taking cold showers and drinking iced beverages burns more calories.

fatmad 04-10-2022 08:12 AM

Hi everyone: still eating on plan, though last night I had peanut butter toast for supper, with the carbonate GF bread, so that kicks me out of keto.
I did not weigh this morning, a likely will not until later this week. My shoulder is almost normal now. I needed some tylenol last night, but only a half dose. I can easily life my arm above my head.
Slept well again once I got to sleep, that did take a while, but then I slept soundly, always a good thing.

In addition to packing for my short trip tomorrow, I hope to sand the walls in the kitchen where we took out the upper cupboards, and wash the ceiling and walls to prep for painting.
Ann: the shivering no doubt burned lots of calories, but I doubt most of us would want to work in a walk-in freezer on a regular basis, LOL.

Have a good day friends.

Wannabehealthy 04-10-2022 08:40 AM

Sorry the craft fair was a bit disappointing, Ann. I really hate being cold. DH never wears more than a light jacket no matter the weather. I don't know how he stands it. He has warmer coats.

Sleep was very poor but I know that's because I was worried about DH. I hope he improves. I woke up at 3 for a couple hours then went back to bed. Less than 5 hours total. No nap yesterday but I see one today.

Trish, I think its good that you can change your meal plans through the day. What you plan for just might not work long term. That's like a normal eater.

pattygirl63 04-10-2022 01:31 PM

Ann, congratulations on the weight loss. That was a nice surprise after the disappointment the rain brought on your craft show. It is nice that you got some good feedback from others including vendors.

Fatmad, I’m glad your arm is feeling better. Your new kitchen is going to be so nice when you get it finished. Hope you trip will go well.

Carol Sue, Praying your DH feels better soon and won’t have any major health problems. Hope you can get that much needed nap today.

Weight was up 3 lbs today which I'm sure has a lot to do with the chipped beef and nuts etc I had last night. Really should have the protein shake. So I am back OP this morning eating more keto today. I need to do an Atkins type Induction because I am craving sweets. I don't want to go down that road so need the keto to break it.

DH and I’ve talked about giving up milk because Dr. Berg and Dr. Barry both says that only baby animals drink milk and stop drinking it when they move on to food so they say people shouldn’t keep drinking it after we get older. I think it is like the keto theory that animals example steers are fed grains to gain weight to go to market for sale. They say this tells up that grains fatten you up and so does milk. I understand the theory just not sure if it is true. In my 50s I heard that if I would eat 3 dairies a day that my bones would be strong because of the calcium. I am taking a good calcium and boron for my bones so I will try going with out it. I will use my creamer in my coffee. I try drinking it black during fasts, but it isn’t too easy on my stomach when I do. I need to drink more water any way.

DD told me that when she went to the doctor last week they told her that we are supposed to drink 10 to 11 glasses of water a day. Wonder when that changed fro 8 to 10 glasses a day. However, they still say it doesn’t have to be water. I’ve heard others say that isn’t true. I heard another doc years ago say if you ate your fruits and veggies that you didn't have to drink so much because you are getting water in them. So who knows, there are so many different theories on things out there.

Anyway I have my plan so lets just hope I can stick to it. Planned net carbs today are 21g with calories 1277 that is with a protein shake planned to end the day and an 8 hr eating window.

Hope everybody has a nice day.

Wannabehealthy 04-10-2022 02:34 PM

DHs blood pressure is,back down to normal and he feels much better. Thank God!

Trish, I have heard it both ways about milk. Some say it aids in weight loss. Also, some say drink water when you are thirsty, others say it goes according to your body weight. I quit drinking milk because we stopped buying gallons when I wasn't allowed to lift them. DH needs what we buy for his coffee and cereal and sometimes he makes pudding. It is so hard to get him to change. Maybe I will start to go to the local store more often.

I am craving sweets too but that's because I gave them up for Lent. You always want what you can't have. Its mostly chocolate that I want, but I am proud that I got through this without it. When I made the chocolate chip cookies I kept a few morsels to eat after Easter. I would rather have the morsels than a whole cookie.

DH brought a rotisserie chicken. I love them. DH made fried potatoes for himself but said they are terrible without salt. He salts his food before even tasting it. This is why I got into the habit of using very little salt when I cook because I know he's going to add it. He does that in restaurants too and they season heavily. I will watch to see how long it is before he starts again. He has salty snacks in the cupboard, pretzels, chips, popcorn and veggie straws. I think he thinks they are made from vegetables. When I shopped when the kids were here I bought one treat. EITHER chips, pretzels, ice cream, cookies. When he shops he buys all of the above.

pattygirl63 04-11-2022 01:59 AM

I am headed to bed and I actually had a good day. I did have the protein shake. I added some chopped pecans to it and partially froze it so I could have the sensation or eating it like ice cream. for today it actually worked. Taking this one day at a time. Goodnight.

Wannabehealthy 04-11-2022 09:10 AM

Trish, one place I read says you cannot freeze those shakes and another place says you can, so if you did it I guess you can. The one place says they will get a mealy texture.

Pretty good sleep again. No Tylenol. I want to take some now so I can function. My hand hurts.

I have to make the apricot cookies that I didn't finish yesterday.

Nothing else new. BBL

I am reading a PDF of an old old book. Carnivore diet. 1/2 lb+ fatty meat 3 meals a day with 1/2 C coffee. 3 cups water between meals, nothing after dinner. 30 min walk before breakfast. No salt allowed. Rapid weight loss cures everything, arthritis, diabetes,. Book shows exercises to do for pain relief and mobility. To maintain loss you can add plain boiled potato as long as you don't gain. Stories of his patients before and after. Interesting read.

______________________________

Apricot cookies are done . 4.5 dozen. Turned out perfect. Ready for the freezer. Next is sugar cookies.

I had my breakfast, eggs and toast, now I'll watch my shows. Then to Bob Evans for dinner and Walmart. If they don't have any beets I will have to check Aldi's or the local grocery.

pattygirl63 04-11-2022 02:15 PM

Carol Sue, Dr. Berry eats a carnivore diet. He says if he sees someone eat something that he decides he wants that he has it but goes right back OP. He says he is almost down to his goal, and it works for him, so he does it. While I've thought about an egg fast, I don't think I could follow a carnivore diet for any length of time.

Weight back down 2.4 lbs. Still don't understand how I can gain 3 lbs and only lose a portion of it the next day. Fluctuations are interesting and very unpredictable. Just thankful it is down.

I went on MFP and planned today's menu before I went to bed last night. I had 2 boiled eggs, 2 sl bacon and my collagen coffee for breakfast. I've got pork chops with cream of chicken in the crockpot. We will have our salad and probably corn on the cob for dinner and I'll have the protein shake for supper. I am drinking green tea with my meal and I have a keto ice cream bar for dessert with a cup of coffee after dinner. Total calories 1367 and net carbs 25 grams. All my exercise has been done for today.

One of the new things I am doing is something I did years ago when I lost weight. I turn own classical type music and relax quietly for a few minutes. It is amazing how good it revives me for the rest of the day.

Have a great day everybody.

Wannabehealthy 04-11-2022 03:01 PM

I think I could follow a carnivore diet of a sort, like Dr Berry, but not living with a carbivore!!
