Sounds good, Mad! Moving along very well.

I had the best sleep in a while. I didn't take Magnesium or Tart Cherry. Too lazy to get them. Also didn't eat anything after dinner. I think that's what did the trick. I feel good today.

Remember step daughter bought a house and moved in over the summer/ fall? The day they moved in the hot water tank had to be replaced. Now the furnace went. It is only 15 years old. ?? Ours was 49 years old and still working but we replaced it because the air condition broke and we were afraid the furnace would too. They are having bad luck. They have a wood burner and are using that until after Christmas to get the new furnace. The people who lived there before used the wood burner all the time. I think that's why the furnace went bad. "If you don't use it you lose it!" I hope nothing else goes wrong. They already know there is a roof leak. They are the type that they will not get it fixed until it becomes a catastrophe.

I think I will get on the scale and see how things look.

_____________________________

I am glad I got on the scale because I'm back down to 188.8. Still recycled pounds but I'm holding in the 180s and haven't seen 190 for awhile. I think not eating after dinner is what did that because I had a very high carb dinner. Mac and cheese.

We are going to the casino today rather than go closer to Christmas. It was his idea. We are going early so its unlikely that we will win. I will probably read.

Fatmad It is hard to believe the little ones have grown so. I can remember when they were born. Time does fly. I think getting something different in the mail is a fun thing for them to look forward too with all that is going on these days. Glad you are able to stick with fasting along the way. You are doing great.

Carol Sue That is terrible that your DSD furnace has gone out especially where y'all live. What about electric heaters? They have the neatest ones these days. I saw one at Harbour Freight that I would love to have but don't have a place for it. It looks just like a real fireplace and it was only $89. I told DH that if I could figure out a place for it that I would get it. But my house is already wall to wall so no way. Something like that wouldn't help her whole house stay warm but they could put one in the room they use the most like a living room or den. DH uses the ceiling fan all the time and I would freeze if I didn't have the little table type heater I have to keep my feet warm. The nice thing is it just looks like a peace of furniture and no one even knows it is there. Safer than a lot of the old time open heaters we had when we were younger.
Oh, Carol Sue the candy was divinity. No one in my family liked it but my Mama and me. I finished off the small batch I had this morning with a cup of coffee.

I don't think I will buy it again. I'm kind of learning why I think some foods are special making me think it is a favor. It is the fact that it reminds me of a happy time with certain people in my life. Red stew and beef stew and buttered cornbread reminds me of DH#2s grandfather Pop. He made the best stew or soup and cornbread almost everyday during the wintertime. It was to die for. Potato chips and roasted hot dogs over an open fire (sometimes he did it over a gas burner) was with my Daddy and Divinity I made every Christmas once I learned that Mama loved it. Memories.

I've got chicken and dumplins in the crockpot for dinner. I used a recipe I found on line that uses cream of chicken soup, chicken broth and Grand biscuits with. pulled/shredded pieces of chicken. I think this will become my new way of making it especially if DH likes it. I will make a salad to go with it.

My weight is up which is no surprise with the sugar I ate, but the surprise was the 91 FBS. I noticed that when I eat popcorn in the evening that FBS is lower the next day. I also noticed that I really sleep good to. I like knowing that except that I don't always want popcorn because I can get really tired of it. In fact, I'm losing interest in popcorn lately.

Hope you are surprised with a good day at the casino Carol Sue.

Have a great day all who are reading.

Trish,,I had to Google divinity. I've heard of it but never knew what it was. Maybe its a southern thing.

We had a fabulous, day at the casino!! Very glad we went. That's all I can say. I did not read!

I didn't eat much all day but I had potty issues the whole time at the casino. I have no idea what caused it. Good thing I wasn't far from the ladies room. I'm hungry now but I don't want to be in the bathroom all night.

Step daughter has a few electric heaters but they don't like to leave them OR the wood burner on while they are at work, but they don't want the pipes to freeze either, plus they have 2 cats that are home too. I am worried about a fire. They received a few estimates on a new furnace but no one can do it before Christmas. I don't know about before New Years.

I wish I could make chicken and dumplings like my mother's. It was all from scratch. She made a lot of those types of meals because she could feed 5 people with a small piece of meat. We ate a lot of starch. She would make a stew with the chicken and vegetables. Then she made this dough called pot pie dough. Roll it out, cut it in triangle shape and put it in the stew until it puffed up. The dough is really called bot boi, some other language, but it always got translated to pot pie. That brings back memories. There are so many meals my mother made that I will never get to eat again and DH wouldn't eat them anyway.

I'm going to read for awhile then go to bed.

I have eaten terribly the past few days and don't want to even get on the scale in the morning. I've learned a lot while eating the way I have so good will come from it. I now know that I could never go back to eating the way I ate for years with all the sugary starchy foods because I would be in a semi-coma all the time. I'm thinking this is why some old people sleep all the time as they get older. All the treats are gone and I only have the diet tarts, brownies and cherry pies that I plan to make. DH told me to go ahead and make the pie so will cook that tomorrow. May not make the tarts or brownies until next week or even after the 1st of January.

I have slept most of the day and evening and very sleepy now. I won't need anything to go to sleep. I think I will fast tomorrow to start working at getting this crap out of my system. The chicken and dumplings were good and even DH liked it. I don't think we are going any where for Christmas so I think I'm going to get back OP. I will do it and just enjoy a serving of whatever I have as a dessert for the holiday.

Carol Sue I'm glad you had a great casino day but so sorry about the potty issues. That is another thing I still don't understand is what causes them. I wouldn't want to leave heaters running in my house either. In fact, I won't leave the little one I have running when we leave and I turn it off when I go to bed.

HI friends: holding at 156 in spite of the fact that my chocolate addiction has been going strong. If I was not fasting, I would be gaining at an alarming rate, I am sure.
I had to buy more in the form of bittersweet chocolate chips in order to make the frosting for my Yule log today. Since today is an eating day, it will be the day I do most of the prep for Christmas eve and Christmas Day meals. I did the laundry and some cleaning yesterday. Tomorrow while I am fasting I will do the rest of the cleaning.

Carol: I am glad you enjoyed the day at the casino. It is rare you have a smile after these trips, so having fun there is wonderful.
I expect it would be too expensive in the short term, but when we replaced our furnace in our country place, we put in a Geothermal heat pump. It was wonderful. The cost was high, but there were government grants available that brought the price down to be only about 10% higher than a regular furnace. The wonderful thing was that our heating bills went down dramatically, and it provided air conditioning too. Also, the excess heat went into a water "pre-heater" that the regular water heater drew from, so the cost of hot water also went down. Its a great long term investment, but a big up front cost. That is likely too much for young people starting out.
I hope your tummy is feeling better and you are not spending the day in the bathroom. What a drag, I know it too well.

Trish: I remember divinity candy too. Made with egg whites? I like meringues, but not the divinity so much. I like the sound of your chicken and dumplings, but that is out of my league now.
I wonder what lovely slow cooker recipes I can find for a creamy chicken dish that I can make GF and low carb. Worth checking out. I hope you are able to get back on plan and feel better as well.

Have a good Wednesday friends.

Fatmad You are doing great during the holidays and the fasting has helped you a lot. It is something I really should think more seriously about doing in some form and sticking to it. The dumplings were good, but too much non-fiber starchy carb and I have paid for it on the scales and the FBS. So it won't be a regular thing in this house. I'm curious to see how it affected DH FBG as well. He has been doing so well lately bringing his down. Of course, the other sugary goodies I had the past few days didn't help either.

As I said the simple carb dumplings were costly on the scale and the FBS stick. Scale this morning was up to 190.6 and the FBG was 111. I haven't been above 110 in ages. So this is the incentive I need to get back on track. I wonder if there is a way to make them with complex carbs. I will have to check into that. I don't get hungry for them all that often so don't need to have them with sugary things going on at the same time, I guess.

I am thinking of doing a 2MD or at least a 5 or 6 hr eating window today. We are having chilli dog day with the left over chilli so it would be a good day fo 2 meals only. I really need to go back to eating Brunch and Dinner and nothing after our 3ish meal. DH told me he does not want to go to my nephews for Christmas dinner so there is no reason why I can't get back OP today. So I will start the 2MAD today. No since in waiting. I will just go for an IF ratio of 19:5 and just do it.

I go to the beauty shop in the morning at 9 am. Since I woke up early today, I just got up because I will need to get up early to be there by 9 tomorrow. I suspect I will do the same next week as well and then I will start going at 10 am after the new year.

Carol Sue Hope you are feeling better today and no potty issues.

Y'all have a great day everybody.

I slept with no potty issues so I hope that's over. It was nice to win some extra money right before Christmas but I have to keep in mind that gambling is a game of chance and will go right back the other way in the blink of an eye. Funny, but on the way out of the casino I felt so lucky I bought some scratch off lottery tickets and won $440.

I slept long but not deep and restful. I'm usually too keyed up after the casino to sleep well.

Mad, step son bought a house that had a heat pump so I'm familiar with it. The only problem I saw with it was that they have a finished basement but it doesn't get cool in the summer. It cools the living area just fine. He had a wood burner in his first house and he liked that so much he put a pellet burning stove in the living room of his new house. Thinking about step daughter, their house has 2 fireplaces also but I don't know how recently they have been used. They should get them checked if they ever plan on using them. Her husband is a volunteer fireman and should know all the safety measures.

Trish, I'm sorry to hear of your uptick. I'm sure it is temporary due to your high carb indiscretions and will go back down quickly once you get back on plan. This just goes to show us how quickly we can gain by falling back into our old way of eating. The weight comes back on a whole lot faster than we lose!! Lessons learned. I do this often because it is hard for me to stay on plan for consecutive days. My weight should be down after the potty issues but I feel bloated after the nights sleep so I'm afraid to get on the scale. I don't want to ruin my happy mood. I will weigh again when I feel that I've lost and hope I'm not wrong.

I think the dumplings can be made from Carbquick, which is a low carb baking mix comparable to Bisquick. They talk about it on the low carb forum. I think it might be available on Amazon or in Walmart, or Walmart.com.

I found it on Amazon and saved it in my cart as I might try it one of these days.

Carol Sue Thanks. I forgot about the carbquick. I have used it before. Walmart carries it and I'm sure the local store that carries a lot of health food will have it as well. I will get some the next time I go to the store.

Just called Babysister to let her know about this toaster oven air-fryer combo I wanted to give to her or one of her kids. I told her that DH and I were not planning to go anywhere or do anything for Christmas except just stay home and do nothing. She said "Oh no your not! Your coming over here with us'. So it look's like I'm making a potato salad and deviled eggs and going to my nephews for Christmas. I couldn't even use the excuse that DH wanted to sleep late because they want to do this around 3 pm. Actually, we will probably enjoy it plus it will get us out of the house.

I ate, and now I have potty issues again!

We went to the store where we buy meat and it was jammed! I bought a ham,,ground beef and sauerkraut so I was able to go through the express lane and get out quickly. The only thing I need now is buns or rye bread in case someone wants a ham sandwich. I like pumpernickel but I don't want it just for me or I'll overeat on it. Its best if I just use my SL. I'm learning not to have some things in the house.

DH just wants hamburgers for dinner since we have fresh ground beef. I will eat something small, maybe some vegetables.

Just notified that my 13 year old grandson has Covid. It is a mild case but he tested positive. They will not be having a Christmas get together and neither parents will be going to work for the next 2 weeks. Its just lucky that this was discovered before he got together with her parents. And they will not be coming to our house this year.

I ate 1/2 of a hamburger on one slice of SL bread with lettuce tomato and mayo. That was just enough for me. At 3:30 DH decided he wanted Texas Roadhouse. That's too late. By the time I got ready we would get there too late and be waiting in a line. If we get there by 3-3:30 we can be seated before it gets crowded and we will get our food by 4 pm. Maybe tomorrow.

Carol Sue I did the same thing after eating the eggs, turkey bacon and toast and banana. not sure what caused it. I've had it before after breakfast. Since I had turkey bacon instead of regular bacon, that means it has to be either the eggs, SLMG or banana. I guess I will have to eat breakfasts leaving out each food at a time and see if I can figure out if it is the banana or eggs. I've had the SLMG eating other things so don't think it is that. Remember when we were in FL I had eggs and regular bacon. So I am beginning to think it just might be the eggs. I hate that if it is because I love eggs and bacon.

So sorry about your grandson but glad you found out now. I'm sure the other grandparents are really happy they found out before they all got together.

Trish, sometimes I think it is the eggs, too but other times I eat them and I'm fine, so I don't know. I will not stop eating them. When I have them with sausage like I did today that's a lot of fat, so maybe its too much fat.

I pray that DGS doesn't get any bad symptoms, and now he will have immunity.

Carol Sue I pray your grandson will have an easy time of the covid as well. I agree it will be good that he will have the natural immunity.

I too have wondered about the fat too. Turkey bacon isn't supposed to be fatty but seemed to have some sort of glaze on it. It also had an odor when cooking that was almost sickening so I'm wondering if something could have been wrong with it or if it is just the fact that I realize that I just don't like it. DH thought at one point that I had fever, but when I checked my temp it was normal. When I got to feeling better, I made chilli dog and ate it and have had no problems at all. You would think I would have had a real problem but everything has been fine. Just can't figure out what causes it.

At least this has caused me to stick with 2 meals today because I was afraid to even drink my evening coffee. I did have a cup of chicken broth which tasted so very good. No more potty problems the rest of the day but have had some indigestion. Hope to feel better tomorrow. I will have to got to the store to get potatoes and eggs for the Christmas dinner Saturday.

Trish, I think we tried turkey bacon once and didn't like it. Bacon is too salty for me except Oscar Mayer. I prefer sausage but its greasy unless I blot it, so I only eat a small amount. I don't think I ever got potty issues when I cook my eggs in Pam spray but DH uses butter. I don't always get potty issues so I don't know.

Today weight is down .4. I expected it to be more with the potty issues. DH ate cake for breakfast so I don't know when or what I will eat. I want to fast or eat light and go to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. I want to be able to eat what I want but I don't know for sure what I want. Maybe the steak salad again. Or maybe ribs. I don't get ribs any other time, so maybe ill get them as a special Christmas gift.

Last night DH opened the package of Swiss cheese and it was full of mold. I was ready to return it because I just bought it a few days ago . Then he found another package in the cheese drawer. The bad package must have been an old one. We haven't been eating as much cheese lately and I've had a lot go moldy.

Today I'm going to clean out the refrigerator. DH has a bad habit. If we are getting low on something, ketchup, pickles, olives, dressing, I buy new. Then he starts using the new right away and doesn't finish the old. He just pushes the old to the back of the refrigerator. I saw 2 open jars of pickles yesterday, so I have to see what else is in there. I like to buy the small size of everything so I can replace it more often.

DH pulled out a shelf in the refrigerator that I never knew came out. So that part has never been cleaned well. I'm so glad to know it comes out and will be able to clean it better now. Yay!

Carol Sue I hate cleaning out the refrigerator, but try to do it at least once a week but sometimes it ends up being a little longer. This fridge is smaller than the other one was so I don't have as much room. I hadn't thought about buying smaller quantities of some things. I should get smaller jars of mayo etc so I would have more room for things.

I tried scrambled eggs today with CB and a slice of toast and no problem whatsoever. DD thought maybe it was the combo of the flour from the dumplings and the sugar in the divinity. You know I do eat real sugar or much white flour. Then I realized that last time we went to the steakhouse, I had to rush home. I have tried to figure out what I ate different. I ate a yeast roll. I usually half one with DH but I ate a whole one with cinnamon butter which always tastes like it has honey in it. So maybe that was the problem. I haven't a clue.

Shocker? My weight was back down to 185.4 and FBG 93 this morning. So go figure.

I decided to keep my hair appointment at 9:30 next year. I got up at 6:30 to leave at 8:30 and things went well. DS decided to keep her 9 am and she is the first customer and I am the second. It works so good the way it is so I figured why change it. I like being back home to eat brunch around 11 am. I also plan to start going to the local store close to us on Thursdays most weeks so I can just go get my hair done and come straight home. The store close by is where we will be getting our prescriptions filled next year. I just want to get out more often next year. I'm tired of having to stay home so much.... move around more.

I stopped at the store today a today to get some potatoes and more eggs for my potato salad and deviled eggs and decided to meet the lady in the pharmacy to see if we have to make an appointment to get our shingle vaccine etc. She was very nice and helpful. Kind of reminds me of how the ladies in the Walmart Pharmacy in SC. They were always friendly but the ones in our new store were awesome. I don't know what happened but one day things changed and most of the extra friendly ones quit and went somewhere else. One of them was my cashier at a local grocery store. She never would say why they left, she just said things had changed so that she couldn't work there any more.

It is time for a short nap before I have to cook dinner. French onion chicken is in the crockpot. I will still have to be careful eating today because stomach doesn't feel 100% right. However, thank God no potty issues so far today.

Trish, I had scrambled eggs and 1sausage link (I usually have 2) and 1 SL toast. No issues at all. So I don't know what causes it. Maybe yours was from the turkey bacon.

We went to TX Roadhouse and I had the steak salad and 1 roll. It was very good! I couldn't finish it but I forced myself to finish the steak. I left half the salad. I usually finish it all. We had a very good server, very friendly and efficient.

I'm so glad your weight is back down. I knew you didn't gain 5 lbs of fat. It was a fluid fluctuation.

I buy the large jar of mayo and keep it on the door shelf, but the smaller ketchup, mustard, olives. Mustard lasts us forever. But DH likes yellow mustard and I like horseradish mustard. I never liked mustard at all until I tasted horseradish mustard. We only use mustard when we eat hotdogs which is rare.

I had 1400 calories today but only 64 GM of carb and 93 GM of protein.
