Mad, I hope your sore throat isn't anything serious. It seems it has gone on too long to be covid.

I slept for 6 hours, in 2 segments. I got up and read for 2 hours in between. I feel ok now.

DH just informed me he's not making breakfast. Yay!! He is disappointed that I won't go out for breakfast and this is my "punishment.". Actually it makes me very happy, but I won't tell him that.

I tracked my food for yesterday. 1955 calories, 236 carbs. I don't believe it was that high because I have no idea about my cabbage rolls. It is what it is. I'm not getting on the scale until Friday morning.

________________________________

I calculated my cabbage rolls based on my ingredients and it came out to 150 calories each and 5 GM carb. I found an entry close to that and changed my totals for the day to 1400 and 100 carbs. That's more like it.

Adrienne I hope you are having a great day.

Fatmad I think you are doing so well because you have been so consistent all year long with your IF and your body has adjusted pretty well. Sure hope the sore throat isn't anything serious.

Carol Sue It is amazing to me how counts on MFP can be so far off sometime. Example a package of Jimmy Dean 60% Less Fat Turkey sausage crumbles are 120 Calories for .5 cup. But some count it as 70 calories or 90 calories. That is why I try to go by what is on the package and come as close as possible when tracking. I am having Parmessan chicken today. I count each thing on it individually so I get it as close as possibe to be as accurate as I can. I'm glad you did that with the cabbage roles. I think it is funny that your Hubby is punishing you with no breakfast. Men.

Had egg omelet of just 2 eggs, parmessan cheese and crumbled JD 60% less fat sausage. I didn't eat until noon so had a 19 hr fast. These fasts are actually no calories fasts because I drink no calorie drinks.

Weight was up 1.4 lbs and I don't expect to even get back down to 180 by Jan 1st because DS called and we are all meeting at Olive Garden for dinner tomorrow afternoon. DH DS and his wife always send us $50 gift cards to eat there. So we are going there. DH and I forget about it and always go some where else. We still have $10 on last years GC. I will go on line and see what I can eat and plan to keep calories down as much as I can. Being main meal, I will have plenty of calories to use. May make tomorrow my fasting day till 3:30 instead of Friday since it is supposed to be only 2 days a week with a day in between. Exercise today was stretches/strength and housework. Doing my best to just be more active each day. I slept late. I think waking up to a cold room is causing me to want to stay in bed. I didn't get up until almost 10 today, but I am sleeping really good. FBG was 97.

Have a great day.

What a,day! This morning while washing a load of clothes our sewer backed up. Water in the basement and garage. DH tried to unclog it but no success. He was going to buy a snake but son in law brought one over and that's not working either. So we will have to call a plumber. $$$$ There goes our casino winnings! This is covered by homeowners insurance but that's no good unless it costs more than our deductible. But I'm just glad to have the money to pay for it!

Step daughter gave us gift cards to Outback we never used. They are a couple years old but I looked online and they are still good.

Carol Sue Sorry about the sewer sure hope your sewer isn't going to be an expensive repair.

We aren't going out to eat tomorrow. DS found out today that she and DBIL were exposed to covid this weekend at her DD. Her FIL was coughing a lot but didn't have any fever so they never thought he was sick. However, today he tested positive. DS and DBIL are fully vaccinated 2 shots and booster, but there seems to be different ideas in the news as to how to deal with it so she will talk to her doctor tomorrow to see what they have to do although she said they decided to stay home and quarintine to be sure not to pass anything. I'm sorry they have to stay home but glad not to have to get off plan to go to Olive Garden.

I ended up with a 19 hr fast but way over ate and longer eating window. So not my best day. Tomorrow is another day.

DH worked on the sewer last night and this morning with no success so we called a plumber and left a message. To be continued.

Step son and wife are both ok after being exposed to DGS. But the neighbor took DGS to a movie before he tested positive and is now very sick. Step son is buying food for her and delivering it. They think he got it from a kid at basketball practice who tested positive. So I think its unclear who will get it if exposed. Please be careful.

Woman on the LC forum had a Christmas dinner with 10 adults, double or triple vaxxed, and all 10 now have covid. I don't know about the kids. Yikes!

I hope the sewer is fixed today. We cannot shower or do laundry. Flushing the toilet is iffy. The water goes down very slowly so its not 100% blocked. Thank God we can at least use the toilet!! We are in BIG trouble if I get potty issues!

I am hungry. But if we eat, I can't wash dishes. I already have a couple in the sink from yesterday. I think I have some Styrofoam plate around here somewhere.

________________________

The plumber didn't call back. DH called, but hung up when no one answered. I told him to leave a message so when he called again the guy answered and said he was on a very big job but would have another guy call. Still no call. DH is getting upset. There are other plumbers but we don't know who to trust. I wish I knew what was causing this and what we could do to prevent it.

__________________________

Plumber is coming between 1:30-2. I just hope it can be fixed today. I no longer care how much $$$ it costs!!

Carol, sorry about your sewer issues. I am just starting the process of buying a house for the first time in my life and these are the types if things that scare me about owning. Praying that someone calls back soon and that the fix won't be too expensive. As far as the glucose tracker, I was able to try the Freestyle Libre for free. The manufacturer offers a coupon to get a free 14 day sensor. My insurance covers both this one and the dexcom which my friend's husband uses. If you search online for the freestyle libre you should find the free coupon. Just an option. It isn't perfect but the results have been within 20 of the finger stick, so since I don't need to use it for insulin adjustment I'm fine with that. My friend's husband uses the dexcom which seems to be a bit more accurate but he's insulin dependent and very unstable so his wife can monitor his sugar and get alerts. It's also 3 times the price of the freestyle so as won't try it unless I really need to. Also, what is in these cabbage rolls? I have heard of them but never tried them. I'm always looking for good recipes to try!

Trish, glad to see you have been on track with your eating, that's the hardest part! I had a decent day yesterday with my eating. My son had made some steak so I used that and tried a crustless quiche recipe. I added broccoli, red peppers and onions. It was so good. My kids ate half of it! What are the pain patches that your sister uses from Amazon? I am a nurse and the knee and lower back pain are difficult to deal with sometimes. I'm already on several meds for spasms and muscle relaxers, but if these can help I'm willing to try them! I miss walking!

Fatmad, thank you foryoue welcome back! My eating plan that worked so well before that I'm getting back on now is just calorie counting and limiting carbs. I have never been a bread person, and while I love pasta and rice, if I only eat one serving my blood sugar really doesn't go up much at all. There are many times I only have meat and veggies for a meal, and I love egg dishes for breakfast. I have had success with this and my A1c decreased as well. I understand your friend's struggle with the lack of appetite with Trulicity, but I am using that to my advantage and just eating portion controlled meals. We will see how things progress. Believe it or not my mental health has had just as much effect on my weight loss. Getting up in the morning, going outside, and walking did so much for my mindset and if I can get back to that I know I will make it. Hope you can get some relief from your reflux issues. I had the same but the meds I'm on now seem to be helping a lot.

Well the scale was nice to me even with my eating outside my eating window and binging (something I haven't done in ages) on some chips I bought to use instead of tacos for taco salad. Scale stayed the same as yesterday and FBG was 106 which is normal for when I eat too many carbs. BP hals been really good these days. So overall it turned out good and I'm back OP today with calories tracked on MFP with less than 1200 calories and net carbs right at 100 g.

Carol Sue So sorry your having problems getting a plumber. I pray you are able to get it fixed today. I think everybody calls during holidays. I hope the lady who got covid from taking your DGS to the movies will be okay. I see it as her having natural immunity. Praying for her. I know DS and DBIL both had covid as well as 2 vaccine shots and booster. So I can't believe they would get sick and if so it wouldn't be severe. I haven't heard from her as of yet. I just figure they will have to go be tested but not sure. I'm sure his job will require it.

Fatmad I hope you are feeling okay.

Adrienne I tried to look up those patches on Amazon, but they don't have it any more. The one I have was by Welmate and is campared to Salmonpas Lidocaine 4% Patch. I will have to check to see if my DS needs the package I have since I'm not using them. If I do need them, I'll order some other brand.

I am pretty much doing what you are. I count calories and since I read the newer Atkins book that came out I think last year or so, I am trying to keep net carbs at or below 100 g. I have set my calories for a high of 1400 calories, but try to stay around 1200. I used to try to stay around 1000 because MFP recommends it but I notice my weight does better when I eat a liittle more. I think it comes down to learning what works for us individually which I'm sure you know.

Have a nice day everybody.

The plumber is here and DH is,downstairs with him

Adrienne the stuffed cabbage rolls are an old Slovak/Polish recipe. You blanche the cabbage leaves to soften.. Then you mix ground beef, rice, and Seasonal seasoning. Put about 1/4 C on the cabbage and roll it up. I bake them covered with diced tomatoes and sauerkraut. Delicious! There are recipes online and YouTube videos that show how to roll them. It takes about an hour to prepare them then 4 hours to bake. Hard to find time for that when you're working.

I have been stress eating because of this sewer issue. Leftover ham. Cheese sticks. I do not feel like eating dinner.

____________

Done! Yay! $220. Not bad at all!

Adrienne, buying a home is a big step. My step daughter and her husband bought a 60 year old home in August. It was beautifly renovated inside. The day after they closed the hot water tank went and they needed a new one. A month later the sewer in the basement got stopped up and they had to do what I just went through. Over Christmas the furnace broke and they needed a new one. So unless you get a home warranty with the purchase you have to deal with these things that happen. If you are lucky you buy a house and just pay the mortgage. Sometimes I think you're better off not owning your home.

Carol Sue I agree the price is good and glad you got it fixed. I can understand stress eating.
o
Doctor's office told DS that they don't have to do anything if they have no symptoms, but they don't want to take anything to anyone so are staying home. I would think they wouldn't get it being fully vaxxed with boosters and also had covid. However, I saw a girl on tv who had 2 shots and had covid 2 times. So who knows. You just have to do the best you can.

I got my info today about our new Medicare advantage insurance and it was all in Spanish so I called and they are sending me one in English. Crazy. I think DH Dutch name may have thrown them off. I had her check DH info and make sure they send his in English.

I haven't been perfectly OP today as I ate way too many carbs today. Beauty shop in the morning and coming straight home. I decided we are going to store Mon or Tues to set up our prescription info and see about getting second shingle vaccine so if we need anything we will get it then. I figure more people celebrate NY so many people will be shopping tomorrow. My carby day should make for a good nights sleep.

I really overate yesterday! Stress! I'm supposed to weigh in this AM but it will be my first weigh in of my new eating plan. First thing I will do is start eating a smaller first meal. I always think I can eat a lot because of the eggs being low carb. DH keeps making bigger and bigger meals. I need to convince him to cook less or convince me to eat less. Me. I need to be in charge. The sausage is to be an occasional thing but we are eating it more often.

Sleep was good. I feel refreshed.

We usually eat our pork and sauerkraut New Years Eve but might have it New Years Day this year. I would like to eat something different today but its easier to do what DH wants. I could eat steak or salmon at Rodneys. I have the pork and sauerkraut but if DH wants anything else like hot dogs or kielbasa I I will have to go to the store. I just want pork.

Trish, I have heard of many vaccinated getting this Omicron. It is milder because it does not go into the lungs. I hope your sister and husband don't get sick but its a shame you can't get together.

I will be back later to check in if I weigh.

Ok, I faced the scale. 192. Up 3 lbs. But I'm starting my new and improved plan today and accept this as my starting point.

Since we're already a week or so into Winter I've started the new Winter thread.
