Slight bump but was expecting it - I ate lots of things yesterday.

Ange - I cheat at the dietbets by weighing in initially at night and in the end at the morning. So I have a cushion. I think otherwise I would never make it! I'm looking at doing a transformer but not sure I want to put out that much money...also not sure I can sustain weight loss - I do have issues with consistency.

Yesterday was a good day and I was treated with a nice 1 lb drop on the scale to 183.8 lbs! It's the first time I've seen 183 lbs since my restart so I'm thrilled. It's times like these I want to scrap the whole using my average weight thing because YAY LOOK, NEW LOW! But then I remember to stay strong I'm sure tomorrow I'll be up again after I workout today but today's weigh in will help with my average this week!

My painting by numbers is delayed I'm so disappointed! I really wanted to sit down tonight and start it! I knew something like this would happen, I was far too excited!

Jeny - Are you weighing yourself at the same time every day? Do you have clothes on when you weigh? I like to weigh first thing in the morning when I wake up and with nothing on. Either way, sorry you've been stalled, but if you're working out you'll be getting stronger and that's great! Speak to your nutritionist and if they don't have a solution, then I'd say get a new nutritionist!

Riestrella: Congrats on the new low. I love that feeling of "hey look" also, but you're right that a weekly average is a more accurate gauge. But you can still get excited about the new low each time it happens.

LGW: Losing 5 pounds in a month when you are strength training with a trainer is really good. I bet you've lost a bunch more fat than that. How are your clothes feeling?

That's more like it. Not a new low, but back within 1 pound of my goal for the month again. And I don't have to work today, so it should be a good day. I'm going to do another strength workout today, minus the lunges.

Riestrella: Thank you! And, yes, it will remain the yellowy-orange color - or red, if it goes up - until I get back down past my recent low of 168. As for the snacking issue, I think the protein and water is helping more than anything, but I think I need to start going to bed a little earlier until I can get it under control...lol. Good idea on seperating yourself by distance on the snacks the other day, by the way -- I feel like the only time I submit to a full-on "Snacknarok" as I call it - (a major snacking incident) - is when a whole bag of something is brought to the couch while my husband and I watch a bit of Netflix before bed. It's the easy access to mindless snacking that gets me every time, so I do better when I have to make decided trips each time I want a nibble of something, as well.

Chunkah: It's not coming back off as quickly as I had hoped it would, but little by little is better than not at all...lol. And, I hope you're able to get a more suitable sleeping cycle reestablished without the caffeine soon!

Lacerta: I know we have pre-determined scientific reasons out there for most fluctuations, but if you ever discover a magical user's manual for how and why this whole process is so unpredictable on the day-to-day basis, please share it with us! And, congrats on hitting your halfway point to Onederland!

nicoley: We saw that movie on its opening day! I agree, it was really good. I love disproportionate objects, so a lot of the scenes were right up my alley...lol. Congrats on winning your DietBet, by the way!

Cattails: I hope your stomach is feeling better!

boatingmommy: Congrats on losing 10 lbs and surpassing your goal this month...that's awesome!

momtopands: Nice recovery from the Chinese food!

Ange: Nice work while away at the conference and on finishing up so well with your Transformer bet!

-----------------------------------------

Things have been busy getting back to a routine and making sure the kids are all registered for and ready to go back to school next week, so I haven't been posting much...but, I am still here! Progress is going a little slower than I was hoping it would be, just because of the insatiable urge to snack at night this week, but yesterday was a lot better than the past couple days and I even got in my first real walk of the month...lol. Weigh-in was 172.8 today, so I'm hoping it will keep moving down from here -- it would be nice to at least break even for the month, but we will see what happens!

Awww Rie - when's the painting supposed to be arriving now?

Excellent month for you LGW that's a great result with weights work as well.

Nicoley - well I cheated too by slugging back a couple of glasses of water when I stood on the scales the first day (on the other hand that first weigh-in was a morning, and the rest have been evenings! I've weighed in in an evening since then because that's when the timeslot starts for me and I like to get in early before I forget!). Thought if you did kickstarters they would look at your previous one and check it matched with the new one?? You're still committed to losing some real weight anyway, so it doesn't really matter what the tweaks are!

So 138.8 is my new 140.0. I've been here a lot lately. I'm hoping for a drop tomorrow. We shall see!
.....................................

boatingmommy - It happens. I know you'll get right back to it! Once again, just gotta say, killer month.

Lacerta -

ange - Congrats on rocking the conference & diet bet and hitting a new low! Do you have a lower limit in mind or will you continue harassing Lacerta?

ophelia - I think the snack urge will die down more as you spend a few more days home in your routine. Thanks, my sleep is getting better already, which I am thrilled about!

Rie - Woot woot, congrats on the drop!! A full pound must be so satisfying! Oh man, sorry that was delayed. You got me craving something arts and crafty myself. Maybe coloring. And sorry about the academic mumbo jumbo lol. I could explain it more clearly but then I'd have to kill you bc this is my signature project. Yes, I'm excited to start up again next month. I'll check out the ankle vids on YouTube and see if they're something my lazy butt will do. My ankle actually didn't bother me at all during my workouts yesterday. I wore more supportive sneakers. It's probably too good to be true for that to be all I need!

nicoley - All's fair in love and diet bets, well done!

LGW - Ditto what Lacerta said--phenomenal results especially when strength training!

Jeny - Those look like good figures in your plan. Do you weigh your food? I hope you start getting the results you deserve! Those are some tough workouts. Your body might lose quicker w/o intense exercise at first and just focusing on diet for a few months.

momtopands - Would you like to share any of your go to foods and recipes? I think I'll have what you're having.

cattails - Thanks, I'm fascinated with the subject! (I better be, since it'll be my life for the next few years. ) I like the idea of gardening at night. That sounds so atmospheric and serene.

for all!

chunks, I think that harassing Lacerta is a worthwhile goal in itself, but I can only have so much fun there before she beats me, unfortunately. I plan on making the most of it whilst I can.

Lower limit? Well, i'll go with BMI I think. I really don't want to be 'underweight' I think that looks awful, and would make me look especially awful (being old and now scraggy, lol). So the border according to that would be 48kg or 105lb. I'd want to be clear of there, so probably would look at active gaining if I got to 109 lb (under 50kg). Also of equal (higher) importance is if I thought I was avoiding food or not enjoying eating - i.e. if I was mentally on the slide - whatever weight that happened at. I know that might be hard to call on yourself, but I really love food and eat as much as I can (whilst being cautious not to gain during this learning-maintenance phase), so truly believe i'm alright there now. I've never had an eating disorder before (either binge or restricting myself) so i'm not too worried, but it's still worth keeping an eye on myself because actually I've loved this weight loss process and I love how I feel now, so it's not a casual interest!!

Heading to the campground after work tonight for the next three days, so I won't get to post. This is my last "official" no drinking weekend. Going to be a green tea boating weekend. I miss my beer, but it has been an amazing month!

Ange - glad to hear that you are mindful of the pitfalls of too much weight loss. Sorry, but the old and craggy comment made me laugh. Being too thin would definitely make my crows feet stand out! You are doing fabulous and you really are an inspiration!
Chunka - Thanks for the continued cheerleading! I really appreciate it!
Ophelia - I miss getting my kid ready to go back to school. They grow up way to fast.

Chunkalunkah I have several great recipes as a matter of fact. One of my favorites is Zesty hamburger soup. It is delicious and only 216 Calories, 4 grams of fat and 32 carbs per cup.Very filling and delicious! Next is my mom's chicken salad which I put on low cal bread or crackers, only 113 calories per half cup! I even have a skinny blueberry muffin recipe that I found on Pinterest! I love finding new recipes!

Hang out at the same place today. I think the scale has a wicked sense of humor when i'm near goal for the month AND near a new decade! Plus I haven't worked out in a couple of days due to some R knee pain. I've dealt with this for many years, but of course the weight made it worse. Now that i'm working out it's aggravated again. I am resting it so that I won't have to completely stop working out. Fingers crossed that it helps!

Yesterday was kind of a good day? I worked out, which is always an accomplishment, the Sweat Intervals workout is a killer and I managed to get through it. My boyfriend did it with me and he was drenched with sweat, which always makes me feel good that he's having a hard time as well! I did have a bit of a treat, a tuna mayonnaise and sweetcorn in a baguette, something from my upbringing in the UK that I was craving! We got a gift card from going to a focus group so I wanted to get myself a small something as part of our grocery shop. Because I had that quite late when I made our dinner, chicken korma (again something I had growing up! Yesterday was a throw back day apparently), I only got myself a small bowl of it and didn't finish the rice. I was quite proud of that, because usually when I make something I'm excited to eat I'll just power through a full portion but this time getting a small bowl really helped!

My weigh in this morning was 184.4 lbs, a slight increase from yesterday but that's ok! My average is 184.4 lbs still so I'm happy to be at this weight. I think it's easy for me to take day to day weigh ins too seriously and get disheartened when I see a low then I see my weight go up, but when I think about the weight as an average over the week it helps put these fluctuations into context. I'm 3 lbs down and 2 of those lbs were lost with no exercise so I'm making good progress! Ideally I want to lose a pound a week until I reach the 160's, which is when historically my weight begins to get harder to shift and I lose a pound every other week. Which is fine by me, I'd prefer to lose weight slowly so my skin can adapt to the change!

Ophelia - Snacknarok I love it. Gonna use that! My husband looooves his snacks and eats them late at night which is when I find myself being naughty as well. He's been so busy recently that we've not really had time to hang out and watch TV together, so I've managed to avoid it, but it'll be a test the next time we do hang out! Sounds like you're crazy busy, so no wonder you're having a harder time getting back on track. Don't worry too much! Vacations are great for the soul, bad for the body - it is known!

Lacerta - Haha that gif made me laugh, what game do you and ange have going on?!

ange - It's supposed to arrive today! I contacted Amazon to cause a bit of a stink and I got a free month of Prime because of it. I went for the angle of "I ordered this Saturday, it's Wednesday, why am I paying for Prime if there are delays?" and boom - free month. To be fair, this isn't the first time there's been a delay for one of my packages, I was just excited for this one to arrive earlier in the week! Hopefully tonight I can finally sit down and work on it

Chunk - Haha, don't kill me I swear I won't tell no one! Fingers crossed your ankle continues to be ok!

Riestrella: I'm trying to reach the point I weigh 2 anges (didn't know an "ange" was a unit of measurement, did you?) , but she won't stop moving the goalpost. I now weigh about double what she did a month ago. Great job on getting that workout in.

ange: All joking aside, I'm glad to see your most recent post. It sounds like you have your head in the right place.

momtopands: The scale TOTALLY has a sense of humor. For me, this month, it was drop, drop, drop...oh, you're close to goal? BRAKE!!! REVERSE!!! Muahahaha

Total Loss for Week Four:

Yesterday was a really good day. I was on point for eating and even went out and went for a walk with husband for the first time in 3 weeks. Ankle was sore by the end of it, but I did 2 miles in just 35 minutes, which isn't much slower than I was before, and ankle is fine this morning. So I'm chalking today's gain up to just fluctuation, and will look for what tomorrow brings.

I looked back through my weight loss journey yesterday and found that while April, May and June were fairly smooth (no big ups or downs, just a fairly gradual change over time), July has been all over the place by comparison. Huge weight swings from day to day. I'm not sure why that is.
