Well so much for a new decade this morning. Gotta love when the scale does the exact opposite of what you expect. Oh well. It's a new day and I'm just going to keep keepin on. Have a great day everyone, my office closed for the holiday so going to be a total potato today, after I do my workout of course.

Yangzter: I live in the mountains of western NC - I moved here last year for a university job (indoors, thankfully!). My husband and I still own a small house near the beach in Florida, so I'm able to get away to warmer weather periodically. You mentioned binges... I think we all have "binges" once in a while... for me, the trick is to keep the binges small... don't go crazy just because you've gone off plan one day.
joy Congrats on making your goal for the month and nice work closing in on goal #2!!
I am going to go back to daily weigh ins. so will be checking in way more often. I have been reading even though I haven't been posting much. There is so much progress being made and so much activity, very motivational!!!
Weigh-in was up another pound to 204.6 today, which is not at all surprising because I was already certain I was going to show a gain today after we ended up having pizza last night. I decided to "join in a little" since I've been doing so well, and I completely overdid it and ended up eating 4 whole slices and a breadstick, which was the equivalent of half of a large pizza. Total fail! But, it happens, and it's just a bump in the road. I'm feeling like I'm in a total food hangover from it today, so that was a lesson learned. I stayed on track with the exercise and water in spite of it, so hopefully continuing on with that and getting back on track, food-wise, right away will help get rid of this bloat soon.

yangtzer: Unless I'm walking with my husband, I listen to podcasts -- I like a couple of BBC radio soap operas!
Oh wow, I didn't even know podcasts were around like that. I think I'd dig that! Thanks for putting that on my radar. I'm also a big fan of podcasts while walking.
I'm really surprised to see another drop this morning. I did drink a lot of water and herbal tea over the weekend... does that really make a difference? I won't be suprised to see a bounce up over the next day or two, but this little drop motivates me to eat light and see if I can keep up the momentum.
Well, a bit perplexed and annoyed this morning. I'm staying completely on track so I know the last few days aren't due to me misbehaving. I do feel like I'm holding onto water so there's that, but the bounce up this morning was really not fun to see. Ugh.. I'm gonna go watch the water balloon video now!
Hope everyone has a nice day.

ophelia Yum, that sounded great!! I am sure that it will whoosh right off of you!!
gail Congrats on making your goal!!!! For me, water makes a huge difference!
toomanydimples it is super frustrating when the scale doesn't cooperate! It isn't uncommon for me to bounce around 2 weeks out of the month and then see large losses the other 2, maybe that is what is happening with you? Either way, you are doing great and your dedication to your plan WILL pay off, hang in there!
Chunkahlunkah: I like The Archers (the world's longest running soap opera) and Home Front (each day takes place exactly 100 years ago during World War I). Both are less than 15 minutes a day. I'm often days behind, but a long walk or a bunch of kitchen work will get me caught up again.

gardenerjoy..what do you have in your winter garden?
kfunk6113..wow, 80lbs lost, good job. how long did that take?
flower1..which part of Canada are you from? The snow was at my shoulder high when I visited Montreal in the winter, lol.
momtopands..thanks for the binge tip. any healthy snack ideas? I like hot soup in a winter night, very comforting and fufilling, lol.
kfunk6113..good to see your post. keep up the good work.
TooManyDimples..do you eat a lot of salt? your body tends to hold onto water for that.
gail28..congrats on the drop. what herbal tea do you like? I like pure green tea which has a lot of antioxidants and help to speed up your metabolism.
Chunkahlunkah..any favorite podcast? mine is "this american life" on NPR.
ophelia..I can relate to the food hangover, lol. I still feel hungry in the morning even I binged the night before.
Do you have a rest day every week, so you can treat yourself and have whatever you want?
Hi, kfunk! I've been good but busy. I stopped exercising and watching what I eat from late November through all of December. I gained 3 pounds from my low, but tbh I was relieved it wasn't more. I overate big time in December. Then this month I went up another 4 pounds! However, that second gain was just water weight and is already gone, yay. How are you?
gardenerjoy - Thanks for the titles. I subscribed. I also listen while doing kitchen work!
yangtzer - "This American Life" is a great program. My favorite podcast is probably The Bowery Boys. They talk about NYC history. I've been listening to them for years. In the past few months, I've also gotten really into BBC 4's "In Our Time."

gail28: Congrats on hitting your goal for the month!!!
TooManyDimples: I'm sorry you're having to deal with a frustrating bump up, especially with being on-plan...I hate when that happens! I hope the bloat flushes back out for you tomorrow!
kfunk: It was, but I am hoping it all whooshes back out soon, too... You're doing great!
Joe: I don't have specific planned cheat days every single week, but I do allow them sporadically throughout the month for a little life balance! I find it really helps to have more relaxed days thrown in sometimes to keep this all as a true lifestyle change instead of feeling like I'm on a temporary diet and always restricting. And, exercise-wise, I do allow some rest days too, but they usually don't coincide with my food cheat days. If I eat extra on a particular day or have a big cheat meal, I will work out....or if I have a rest day, I make sure to stay on plan with the food. Unless it is a holiday -- in that case, I will gladly take it easy on both for the day...lol.
Starting to come back down a little to 203.8. I hit my water goal of over a gallon, did the elliptical twice, and got in just about 14k steps yesterday, so I think that is all starting to help. Going to keep pushing through and staying on plan to see if I can get back down and into some actual losses again soon.
