Leah - Stress is such pain, sorry about other people unloading on you. It is difficult to listen and not feel compasionate towards other's problems.

Yay! The whoosh fairy came to visit me again last night! I dropped 2 more lbs! I'm at 191 now! :yay: It's really strange because TOM surprised me this morning and I always gain pre-TOM. It usually isn't until 3 days in or so that I see a whoosh, but I'm very excited for the 4-lb loss in the last two days! :dance: (Edited to add: I just realized that today is exactly two months from the date I started my new low-carb diet with its wonderful cheat days, and I have lost 20 lbs in those two months! I never would have dreamed it!)

Grover, congrats on the big drop! Don't you just love those whooshes?!

Emme, I just noticed how you give your calories beside your weight each day. What a good idea! You can look for patterns between eating more or fewer calories and how it affects your weight loss and fluctuations. I don't count calories but I used to and I find it interesting, especially the times when you add calories and still lose weight. It just goes to show that sometimes it helps to shake things up by adding or cutting more calories to keep a steady weight loss.

Yep, Rhiko, that "starving" feeling when you just ate is classic pre-TOM and/or TOM symptoms. Carbs make it worse, yet it's carbs that we usually crave!

Cheeri, yay, a drop for you, even though you are sick. I hope that means you are getting better!

Morning, all! I started TOM yesterday and I was pretty snacky in the evening. It stunk. I tried hard to stay away from eating, but I felt so hungry and I was just so wiped out. I had a Skinny Cow ice cream bar and some peanut butter. It was tasty and I don't regret it. I've made it a point to not beat myself up for eating food. If I'm hungry, I eat. My challenge has just been working through wanting-to-binge episodes. So far, so good.

Emme, I agree there are times when it's best not to fight against your body's hunger and TOM is the ultimate one of them! And it looks like giving in to those cravings is not hurting you.

I'm okay with small fluctuations but that's a steep jump over a couple of days. I've also been drinking more water than usual. I was pretty depressed last night thinking of all the food I couldn't have but then I tried on a pair of pants that wouldn't even close last month and they closed, so I got over it pretty quickly. Then when I woke up this morning the scale gave me a big :D It's paying off...slowly but surely!

Leah, I started out at 195 this month and went up to 197 and stayed there for no reason (other than I do believe it's a set point for me). Then in the last week, I dropped down to 191, doing nothing differently. So hang in there!

Leah just hang in there, something similar happened last month then your TOM showed up (i think later that day) Something has to explain it that has nothing to do with gaining fat. Sick it out and it'll flush back off soon!

Soooo I've been AWOL this week :s My schedule has been hectic, going from 9am-9pm or later all week. I've been exhausted so sleeping until the last minute in the mornings and just vegging when I get home. My calories have been on track most of the days. Higher than I would like, up a maintenance a couple days, below but not at my target a couple days, but yesterday and the day before were AWFUL. Yesterday would have been fine but the lab I work in for credit hours had cookies and all I want in times of stress are baked goods. Oh well, next time I allow myself 1 as I am leaving so the desire to grab another (and another and another lol) doesn't get me.

Well it looks like the whoosh fairy has been pretty busy. Don't worry she will make her rounds soon to the others! Feeling really good about this weeks weigh in. I also feel GREAT about my exercise these past two weeks too. I have walked on the treadmill for 2 miles on Monday's Wednesday's and Friday's for the past two weeks! Yesterday I walked for 2.5 miles while watching Pitch Perfect on the iPad! (love that movie) Exercise is something I have always HATED but since keeping to it I have noticed that I am not as grumpy when I do;) My hubby and munchkins probably appreciate it too:) So here us the official results!

I weigh 189 this morning!! Oh my gosh, I haven't been here in 4 years and I am only 10 lbs away from where I fell off the wagon on my last ticker! Of course, today is my cheat day, and you'd think I'd just skip it, but nope! It seems to be working for me and I'm not going to mess with it now. I can stand the 1 or 2 water weight lbs that I'll put back on for a couple of days because I'm losing weight overall! (Not to mention, Ohio State plays today and I need game snacks, lol!) Hey!thank you! The last two weeks have been rocky but, I drink lots of water, green tea when I remember , occasional crystal light. breakfast is normally a cheesestick with an apple, or eggs with fruit, lunch is tuna or chicken with veg, dinner is Mostly veggies meat and legumes, creams like whipped cream on fruit is dessert, sour cream on dinner, no grains period. It works for me. Once I get chocolate in the house forget it, lol. We went out for two friends birthday last night, I ate half my Fatoush salad, half my chicken taouk pita, a d boxed the rest, I ate it when I got home at 3 am after dancing, but no booze just water. Had a little tiny cake. But last night wasan exception.I dance a lot. I take Zumba 2x a week and I bellydance, I use dance as my exercise, samba will kill your thighs been practicing that, i dance a little bachata nearly everyday but only a half song or so cuz the music is on not really for exercise.

But yeah, that's really all I do.

Between the sugar and the cold my joints are stiff and swollen. I'd take it easy but I'm working and it's Scrapfest 2013 at the mall I work at so it'll be psychotic day (make that weekend. It was crazy yesterday and I work tomorrow to which is the final day). But I'm back on track with eating.

Oh Jacqui_D Congrats!!! -- Last time when I lost 30 pounds I did it with one cheat day per week. I am thinking about adopting the same plan again. I seem to fall off the wagon when I am too strict and want the losses bad/fast.

Thanks Sum! :hug: I really am surprised by how well it works for me in combination with a low-carb diet. I just don't struggle anymore, and every time before when I went on a diet, I did. I struggled so much in fact, it took me four years just to work up the motivation to attempt to lose weight again. I wish I had figured all this out 30 years ago. I would have saved myself lots of yo-yo dieting!

I'm sure the whoosh fairy is headed your way! :D

I’m back and I had a fabulous time! As I earlier mentioned, the purposes of my vacation were to plan my daughter’s wedding, which will take place next year in Italy, to attend her graduation from Oxford University which took place last Friday, and to have fun! I was in Italy for 5 days and in the UK the rest of the time. I remained on plan except for a few days when we celebrated, including the day we did the food tasting with the Italian caterer (yummy!) and my daughter’s graduation day when we had both a celebratory lunch and supper. Plus there was the day when we found and ordered my daughter's wedding dress, following which the store gave us each a glass of champagne and we then went out for a celebratory lunch. The dress is beautiful! To combat the extra calories, I did a LOT of walking when I was in Europe. All in all, I’m pretty happy with my diet results. I’m down 2 lbs since I left two weeks ago, and I’m in good shape to make goal this month (fingers crossed!).

Tuscany It was pretty psychotic but in a decent way. My shift flew by because we were so busy. My only problem was that we are supposed to close at 9:30pm but we still had paying customers at that time. Finally at 9:50, I spoke to the closing manager and told her that I had a train to catch or I would miss my connecting bus which would mean I would have to wait close to midnight for the next one. There were still people in the shop when I left.

I am up 2 water-weight lbs after my cheat day, as I expected, so I'm back to 191 temporarily, and that's okay! That should drop off in the next couple of days, and I'll be back to my goal weight! I'll be stealing Cheeri's idea today of drinking green tea, which I always drink in the fall and winter months anyway, so hopefully that will help it along! :D

After going out for Mexican last night and making breakfast for some extended family (waffles, sausage....) I'm not surprised that I gained. I did good with the breakfast, but I have no idea how many calories/points are in taco salads... And when I don't know my portion size I go over. Going to make sure I do my 80 oz of water routine today :)
