Hi ladies, I can't believe this already has 6 pages!! I had so much fun reading everyone's posts. I'm back from the woods and gained some weight. I went for a 2 hour intense hike. We climbed to the top of a mountain, off path, over/under fallen trees, through brush. It was awesome! I was hoping that that would counteract any additional calories I might have eaten. Along with trying to stick to smaller portions and cleaner food but it appears it isn't the case. I think I'm going to have to re-evaluate what my food looks like on days I would "maintain".

My goal this month is to see the 150s It is a smaller goal than the last two months, but this is a busy month with anniversaries, birthdays and camping. So I'm going with 6 lbs.

Its so much fun to think how much smaller you will be if you hit your goal or get close by the end of the month :)

Good morning!

Yes, I am working on being stronger. When I was successful before it was when I lived on my own. My husband and I are trying to work on encouraging each other to not cheat but some days it just swings the other way entirely :dizzy:

Thanks for sending the woosh fairy this way cheerilos! She helped out quite a bit this morning, hopefully she comes back tomorrow morning as well lol

Turtle it sounds possible that the hiking and whatnot has you retaining water, not the food necessarily. Give your body a couple days to reach equilibrium and then decide if it was the food or not :) Either way I am glad you had a great time!

Tuscany I try to be nice to my scale... it works sometimes lol

lovelyleah sounds like you had a great time out with your friends. Good job for knowing when to stop on the alcohol!

Hi ladies! I would like to join if that's ok. I was part of 3FC a few years ago and I'm back after having my daughter a year ago. Now that I'm done breastfeeding I don't need extra calories, so I'm ready to hit it hardcore.

I do tend to do well and then self-sabotage, so I'm hoping to work through a lot of emotions in a healthy way.

I don't have a specific goal for September other than seeing the scale drop, but my goal overall is to lose 30 pounds by Christmas and I'm going to be calorie counting.

I weighed in this morning at 207.6 and there's nowhere to go but down from here!

TrayTeam 09-03-2013 11:38 AM

Jumping into this! I lost a good amount of weight on last month's challenge (illness be damned). I'll set a more modest goal for September.

SW: 172

Joy, switching from 1/2 to 1/3 cup sounds like a smart plan. I hope it works for you this time around as well!

Turtle, glad you're back and that you had an awesome trip!

Pixikat, congrats on the drop! :cp: That is so wonderful that your DH and you are supportive of each other. I feel sorry for the chicks whose spouses are not in their corner and even worse for the ones whose spouses actually sabotage their progress! My DH is not on a diet, but he is very supportive of my diet, and he even walks with me in the mornings. I think I'll keep him. :D

Hi Emme! :welcome: BACK! We will help keep you on the right path! All you have to do is keep coming here and posting so we'll know how you're doing! You might want to think of setting a small goal for September, maybe like 2 lbs, and that way you'll have something to shoot for short-term. If you meet it early, you can reset your goal for the month and try for more lbs. Or maybe you want to go ahead and try for something like 5-10 lbs right off the bat! As long as you stay on plan, you should lose some weight this month! Good luck!

Tray, smart move with the more modest goal!

You are right. I get so nervous setting up goals because I tend to self-sabotage, but I'm going to go for it. I would like to lose 4 pounds by the end of September.

I'm proud of you, Emme! :cp: We're here for you! If you think you are going to self-sabotage, if you start feeling the urge, come on here instead! 4 lbs is a very reasonable goal and you can do it!

I really hope I'm consistent this month! I have lost a little bit of motivation but hopefully this thread will push me. I'm going to weigh in once weekly. I'm starting at 134.5 and hoping to get down to 130 by the end of the month. I'll weigh once every 3 days so about twice a week.

9/3 - 134.5
9/6 - 133.8
9/9 - 133.6
9/12 - --
9/15 - 134.5 ahh back to wear I started...let's hope this is muscle gain haha

SouthernBell02 09-04-2013 04:17 AM

Well I weighed myself last night before work. I went up to 242.1 So thats a gain of 1.1 pounds. Not bad I think. Hopefully thats just a good woosh away from being back to starting weight! Everyone else is doing fantastic.

Rhiko 09-04-2013 07:17 AM

Weighed myself this morning and found I lost .3 kgs lol :( Oh well, a loss is a loss.

chunkie89 09-04-2013 07:45 AM

Stay Puft: Thanks! You're doing great as well!

cheeriloos: That's a really good loss considering you had pizza the day before!

Jacqui_D: Haha trust me, I still look 'chunkie' (my body shape is similar to Hilary Duff's, heavier upper body which makes me look bigger than how much I weigh.) Well, the whoosh fairy came and went... no loss for me today. Perhaps she's on her way to you! ;)

Tuscany 09-04-2013 07:49 AM

Turtle: Hi Greyhound! Glad you enjoyed the woods. I suspect the weight gain is water retention from your intense hike. Good luck getting into the 150's this month! If you're anything like me, these next few months will be a fun time for you. When I lost 25 lbs (going from 190 to 165), I noticed a difference and dropped a size or two, but nothing to truly write home about. But when I lost the next 15 lbs (going from 165 to 150)...holy smokes...it made a HUGE difference. I’ve been amazed at how much more noticeable the weight loss becomes the more you lose.

Jacqui: I'm constantly drinking water…but always with my Mio. I love the lemon, strawberry and pomegranate.

Stay Puft: Another little loss…my goodness, your scale is behaving itself these days. Good for you!

Joy: It's amazing how small changes like your 1/2 vs. 1/3 cup idea can often make a big difference. Good luck!

cheeriloos: Good for you…back on track! Now you need to pretend you're the Eveready Bunny…'cause it keeps on going and going and going…

Pixi: Glad to see you back in the 240's. I can understand why dieting with DH might be both a positive and a negative, depending on the day!

Leah: I hope you return to below 157 very soon.

Tray: Hi again…nice to see you back. You'll soon be in a new decade. That's exciting!

SouthernBell: That’s not too bad considering the past few days. I hope the whoosh fairy visits you soon.

Cincorn: Hi and welcome back. I hope you quickly lose your recent re-gain.

Rheko: Any loss is better than a gain! I saw your earlier posts about your cat. My daughter also has a cat called Neko, although her cat is a male. I understand Neko means “cat” in Japanese, which I’m sure you know. I have two little fluffballs: Muffs and Abby. They’re a lot of fun!

I know. I'm just disappointed in myself for letting my weight loss slip for 2 months. If I hadn't stopped, I would have been 62-3 kgs by now. But hey, as you say, it's better to stay positive!
Yeah, I was learning Japanese when I got her as a kitten (almost 9 years ago) and I couldn't figure out a name for her. After a few days, out came 'Neko' lol :D Cats are fun, especially as kittens!

Congrats on your loss so far this month! That's fantastic

Jacqui_D, hopefully the whoosh fairy will visit you soon.

gardenerjoy, nice scoop trick. Getting used to what human portions are is still a little difficult for me. I mean how can it be a portion of spaghetti when there is so much room left on the plate? :D

Turtle11, oooh the 150s. What a great way to start the fall season.

pnkrckpixikat, nice drop yesterday.

Emme, nobody ever sabotages us as well as we do ourselves. You'll just have to post when you start feeling like straying from the path and let others talk you down.

TrayTeam, thats a good goal.

Angelique32, welcome. Lots of birthdays this month. Popular month for fabulous people to be born. Nice loss!

RachelAnne, welcome! Consistency is hard but you can do it.

SouthernBell02, I didn't like weighing in the evening as my weight fluctuates more. I hope you get your whoosh today.

Rhiko, yep. A loss is better than a gain or just sticking.

Tuscany, I love it when a whoosh sticks. Congrats!

Finally weighed in for September. Nothing has changed (still at 185). I was challenged by the four day holiday weekend. It's hard to adjust your diet when other people are cooking. Although I did keep portions relatively small.

SouthernBell02 09-04-2013 09:11 AM

Stay Puft~ I weigh in the evenings because it is technically my morning since I work overnights. I usually don't get a full 8hours of sleep at once my average amount of sleep for the past month using my Fitbit is about 6 hours a day/night. But I figure if I weigh at the same time every time then Ill get a pretty accurate number.

Cheeriloos~ Congrats on the new, new low!!

Well I lost a little bit of the gain. I also upped my workout yesterday and my muscles are screaming this morning, so I'm sure some water is going to stick around.

Thanks for the welcome back jacqui!

Tuscany - I have probably lost about 1.5 sizes in 20 lbs, I thought it would be more a little more. At 186 I was in some size 16s and most of my 14s were getting tight. I'm now back into some of my 12s and my 14 are probably too loose. You must be so excited for your trip, its only a few days away! I traveled a little in Europe, mostly England and France, I would LOVE to go back. The culture, architecture, and people are so different and fascinating. I remember walking a ton, so your hard work all summer will definately pay off.

Pixi - Well I conveniently did forget to mention the cake I baked for the weekend.... I love baking but it has made my waistline expand. When I can bake for a group so I don't eat the whole batch, I do it :) However I did have a couple servings.

Stay Puft - I would really love to see a 15 sometime this month. I think it might be a reach but I hit goal two months in a row, sooo... I'm definately going to try and make it three.

garden - thanks for adding me and congrats on the down tic.

4 days into the challenge and I am down 4 lbs :) My appetite is waxing and waning and I am having hot flashes followed by cold flashes, which are usually signs of my thyroid going wonky. Have to have labs redone in 2 weeks so as long as I am losing weight I am not going to be overly concerned about my "symptoms".

Emme: welcome back! you can totally do this, you've got this like it is nothing!

Turtle: yay for loss! I also love to bake but thankfully, I don't really like baked goods. I like homemade candy...I only make it for the holidays though!

Gardener: Hope that loss brings a crowd in the next few days :)

Lovely: that is an awesome loss! I have found water is critical for me as well!

SeaUrchin: I understand the challenges of the weekend. Sunday, my husband's family all wanted to go to a buffet restaurant for lunch. I just refused to look at anything besides the salad bar and rotisserie chicken. I am a very visual eater so small portions leave me wanting. I do better eating unlimited amounts of veg because it tricks my mind into thinking I am eating a lot.

Cheerilos: great loss so far :)

Hm, well, I must have made 196 too welcome, lol, because it's certainly wanting to stick around. I'd really like to have the 195 back, or even better, 194. I started examining if I'm doing anything to cause my weight to stay up, and nope. I had my usual cheat day, but I didn't go overboard on it. I'm walking each day. I drank some water the day before yesterday, but loads of it yesterday. My portions have been good. I'm thinking maybe my hormones might be a little haywire. (2 TOMs last month might be a clue, lol!) Oh well, at least I'm not gaining!

:welcome: RachelAnne! Sounds like you have a solid plan!

SouthernBell, oh good, that wasn't a bad gain at all!

Rhiko, I agree, a loss is a loss!

Chunkie, nope, the whoosh fairy bypassed my house last night. Maybe tonight! :D

Tuscany, it's just a matter of time and your scale will be on the move again!

Seaurchin, looks like you are due for the whoosh fairy!

Angelique, good drop! :cp:

Puft, good job! :dancer: My scale's being stubborn, unfortunately.

Cheeri, looking good!

Sum, hang in there!

Leah, yay on the drop! :carrot:

Pixikat, scale's still moving, good job!

Joy, good for you!

I'm voting for your hormones. I'm one of those weird people who gains during ovulation, not during TOM. This is what I remember from when I used to calorie count a few years ago. Maybe your body is doing something like that.

Jacqui_D 09-04-2013 04:33 PM

Tray, hang in there!

Emme, it's very likely that it's hormones, although it could be that I'm just not used to holding on to my cheat day weight for this long (unless I'm at a set point) and I'm growing impatient, lol! By the way, I just clicked on the link in your signature to your original goal story and pics, and WOW! The transformation is spectacular! I have no doubt that this time around, after having your baby, you are going to do it again! How inspiring you are! All my friends believe I'm 5'9", although I've always thought I was 5'8", and to get an idea by looking at your pics of what it might look like not to be overweight anymore just makes me want to stick to this path even more! I've been a little worried about what I might look like after losing all this weight, and although I'm 52 now and my body probably won't hold up as well as yours, your after-pics help to take a little of my fear away. They are fantastic! Thank you for sharing your story!

That's so sweet of you! Thanks. You will look beautiful! I'm sure you already look beautiful! Being tall has its advantages. People don't believe me when I tell them I'm over 200 pounds. You should measure yourself and see if you are 5'9! I always thought I was 5'8 until my husband measured me three times and said, "Nope! 5'9!"

gardner I'm sure all its friends are on their way!

Tuscany omg you trip is just a couple days away! Are you all ready? I bet you are excited! I am trying to set up a summer abroad with my school in Dublin. It is 9-10 months away and I'm already crazy excited lol

Jacqui_D 09-04-2013 07:56 PM

mjmelwel, :welcome: Good to have you!

Emme, hm, I never thought about being measured after high school and perhaps back then I just wanted to be shorter, because the short girls were just so cute! My DH is 6'5" so he'd certainly be tall enough to measure me!

pnkrckpixikat 09-04-2013 11:09 PM

jacqui If you decide to measure, make sure you are fine with whatever the outcome! I thought I was 5'9 and a half because thats what I always remember being in high school. I measured my height earlier this summer, 5'8 and a half :(
