Hello All!
Stayed OP and completed goals yesterday and so far today. Back to back shifts at work and walking is keeping my legs/back very sore. Still trucking along and ready to head out the door for my walk today. Seems like all is going well for us all! Hoory to us!

wannaBfitnessbuff-I understand all of your frustrations with there being so many different diets. It is completely overwhelming.

I have studied so much about foods, read all the books, and watched almost every single documentary about food. My son was diagnosed with migraines four years ago at only 7 years old. After going to the specialists and the neurologist it was determined that preservatives in foods cause his migraines, especially nigrates. Long story short: try to eat foods as close to the natural state as possible.

After trying so many different approaches to weight loss myself, I really think I have found the solution to my problems. It is to limit my salt intake as low as I can. Even "healthy" processed foods, have tons and tons of salt. Everything I pick up seems to have a monster amount of salt whether it is a prepared food, grocery item, or frozen. Don't even get me started on any resturant dish. I think this is why I and many American's have such a hard time losing weight. I can stick with a low calorie (1300-1400) diet a day for months and exercise, and only lose a very small pound or two. I think those same amount of calories with low sodium foods amount to much more weight loss.

So that is my two cents! Hope it helps some other people to drop more weight. Lost 5 pounds since Monday. Yeah! Low salt, 1300 cal diet.

Hey guys!

Here are my goals:

1. No binging this month (not even one time)
2. No snacking after school
3. No more than 1200 calories per day
4. Exercise 5 times a week
5. Eat more dark chocolate (haha :P) and veggies + fruits

wannaBfitnessbuff - looks like you've really got it figured out... you've made me want to do a bit of calculating myself...
i'm starting to wonder if 1200 is too low? i am running a half marathon tomorrow, so i'll be eating more tonight to fuel my body for that.. looks like its going to be 83 and humid tomorrow, which makes me a bit worried. i've been training in mostly cold weather, so 83 will be very different for me.

Anyway, the exercise actually hasn't been going well, unless you count the long walks i've been going on lately to avoid binging during finals week. i've really had no time to work out other than that with papers and tests, etc. But these are stupid excuses, and i promise i won't keep making them! i'm still at school until tuesday, and even though i have a lot of work, i'll make time to exercise because this is important to me!

and good luck damiilya! dark chocolate sounds amazing right now!

Evening everyone,

Hi damiilya and welcome. Your goals look great!

magsabags - I hope your marathon goes well tomorrow and it's not too hot & humid.

Isabunny - I have to watch the sodium too as I have high b/p.

I did a 3 mile walk at Stone Mountain after work and my eating was superb today. I got my lab results and my cholesterol is high and my glucose is up just a tad. I am so determined to get these numbers back down to normal in the next few months. This will motivate me to avoid any binges.

I hope everyone has a great evening and let's all have another OP day tomorrow.

Today, I planted the herbs I bought a few weeks ago and transplanted a garlic chive plant that my Mom's neighbor gave me years ago when we moved into the house, I'm sure Miss Judy has forgotten about it but its a nice reminder of her. I had to dig up a few bricks to enlarge the bed, strange that it was big enough for a holly bush but not 5 herb plants. I swept the patio, straightened it up and did a bit of weeding. In the afternoon, I went inside for laundry duty.

We shopped around for a new backyard swing but found the newer ones aren't as well made as the older one so we'll keep it around.

Damiilya, welcome, glad to have you join us.

Default my May challenge

I am a new member, getting into the May challenge on May 5
1. My eating plan is 1300 to 1500 calories for 6 days a week. Friday is my a little more day, so less than 2300 calories.
2. weight goal: than less 155 would be great!
3. Exercisse for 4 days a week. For me, that would include gardening and yoga, as well as cardio (walking, biking, etc)
4 Visit the thread 4 days week, if not daily.
5. not eating between 2 pm and 6 pm. This is my snacking time that gets me down the wrong path. If I have a nice lunch and supper and nothing in between, I tend to stay on track.

is PMS induced depression a thing? because every few months right before my period i just want to sleep all day and don't want to socialize and care about nothing... i have no motivation to do anything. cook, clean, play games, work out, wifely things, NOTHING. i just want to sleep. or complain. BLAH. i'm not even craving food.

it doesn't happen every month, but it makes me crazy because i'm aware of it and can't make myself snap out of it.

Today has been my first day on plan, unfortunately. I let the stress of finals get to me and made some mistakes. BUT - good news! Today I ran my first ever half marathon! I didn't do quite as well as I'd hoped, but I'm still so proud of myself for getting out there and doing it!

After the run, I was tempted to treat myself to a HUGE bowl of ice cream but didn't! I didn't give in and was able to keep today's calories under 1500!

Finishing the half felt amazing! Like the start of a new beautiful life! I'm going to try to run again tomorrow (though right now I really don't want to) and every day of May after that! Can't wait to see our results in June!! Keep up the hard work everybody!

Sadly, I can report a lazy day. I sat around reading for most of it but did vacuum the house, shook out the rugs, and washed dishes.

Mandy, I felt the same way today for the same reason. TOM won't even start until Wed!

Waterlady, welcome, glad to have you join us.
