I am thinking about starting over because I did the first two weeks on a treadmill and then running outside made me want to die. I have only gotten to W3D1, so it's not that large of a setback.

Sha25, unless you count way back when I used to play basketball, this is my first "official" race. My motivation for doing it comes from multiple sources; my doctor recommended marathons and such as a way to get in shape, my wanting to be a runner (I've always HATED running), the feeling of accomplishment I'll have when I have completed it, and two very selfish reasons...I can't stand my boss and me completing the race will be one more thing I'll have done which will piss him off; and I have a friend who doesn't work out AT ALL who has completed this race. I figured if she did it, I should be able to also!

I didn't work out yesterday because it is hot and MISERABLE here. I suck. I ran today though (Wk4 day 2 again), inside...I keep telling myself that I need to run outside so I can better prepare for the race. I usually run outside on the weekends but I didn't this weekend.

Glad to see all the new people joining us!

Woohoo, everyone is doing fantastic!

Starting tomorrow morning, I'm going to attempt W2 after doing W1 twice.

ok W1D3 kicked my butt! I couldn't even finish. By the time I got to the 3rd minute of running, I was totally out of breath. Thank goodness, I planned on spending a couple of extra days doing W1.

Whoo... ok I can do this!

There's no "rule" about repeating or not repeating weeks. Depends on how you feel.

I repeated W1 a second time because I was barely completing the intervals at the end of the first week and didn't feel ready to advance. I did W2D1 this morning, and I know I was ready because I breezed through the first 60 seconds of the running intervals but had to push myself to complete the full 90 seconds. Challenging but not impossible.

Happy running everybody!

I finished Week 2 last night. My good sneakers were still wet from the weekend, though so I wore my less good ones.... Big Mistake. My feet hurt today. Legs, shins and joins still okay though, so I didn't do any damage, at least.

I am getting a break today, and personal trainer tomorrow, so Thursday I will begin week 3, with the 3 minutes of running.

W2D1 went well yesterday. I felt I had to really push to get through the 2 min runs towards the end but I did it.. I do however feel really drained yesterday and today. Don't know if the two are connected but I am exhausted again... Good thing today is a off day so I will take a break from working out.

Jules- It really depends on how your body feels. I probably will repeat week two before moving onto week three, but I will decide once I finish up week 2.

ap90- way to go!!

knobhdy- Good luck with the personal trainer, let us know how that goes.

grneyedmustang- Wow, I am impressed that you chose to start with a 10k... LOL, why would it piss off your boss?? Just curious.....

bama girl- I am also doing it on a treadmill, I think for me I will complete the program on it and then repeat it outside. I have heard that running outside is completely different.

Have a good day everyone!!

My boss has major insecurity issues where it comes to me. He can't stand me (and the feeling's mutual). So anything that I've done that he hasn't been able to do, he's jealous. So he has registered to do this race many times, but has always wimped out and not ran it. So when I complete it, it's just one more reason for him to be jealous of me. And I'm not going to lie, I am taking great pleasure in it.

Okay, tonight is W2D1 over again. Yuck! I totally skipped my last two runs because of the humidity, and I feel totally lame. Tonight I'm running no matter what happens! Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get through a run in 90% humidity? I'd rather stick to running outside then switching to a treadmill...

Grneyedmustang, that is fantastic. I know I do things like that sometimes.... Spite can just be so much fun!

Jules, It's entirely up to you if you want to repeat or not! Nothing is truly set in stone. If you're feeling good about the way you finished out week 1, great! If you felt like you could have done better and want to improve on that more, that works too! It's all about making the program practical for yourself!

As for me, I'm thinking I need to run W2D1 again this evening, since the first time I ran it was a week ago! House sitting really messed my stuff up! Hopefully I can still manage to get through it... The first time was hard enough!

I can't advise on this one because we're going through the same here. Someone please let us know.

I'm not sure exactly where you live but here in Michigan it gets pretty humid, so I suggest running later in the day and to have lots of water to stay hydrated. Light, breathable clothing helps as well but its going to feel sticky no matter what. A cool shower afterwards is always helps. Hope this helps, its just a hard thing to beat...
