It looks like I've managed to hit a mini-plateau, despite zig zagging I've been going between 138.5-140 lbs every day for about 2 weeks now, and it's frustrating. My weigh-in days have been telling me that I've been losing, but they just happen to land on lower days, when the next day I'll bounce back to where I was a couple weeks ago.
Luckily, I'm back at school where we've got a (free!) rec center and it's close enough to my apartment to walk there. I've been counting calories only w/o exercise for the past three weeks, and I'm pretty sure that's why I quit losing.
Well yesterday ended up being higher even with a slow start (oh wait I had cheesecake for breakfast!). 1600 but I worked out so hard yesterday that I definately earned it. I had enough calories left for a nice breakfast and my sweet boyfriend surprised me by not only making me breakfast but he had already entered it in my fitday for me! I think I'll keep him.
Today has been lower and will end up around 1100 or so hopefully. Glad to see so many people deciding to start this way. Cutting calories is the *only* healthy way to lose weight as far as I'm concerned. Food is fuel. This week one of my biggest focusses has been not only getting the right amount of calories but also trying to cover my bases as far as nutrients go. I love the reports in Fitday, they are addictive! I weighed myself again tomorrow to make sure that my official weigh in yesterday wasn't a fluke and I am down another .5 lb on my home scale. I love the feedback, let's me know I'm on the right track. I work nights by the way in case anyone was wondering what I'm doing up in the middle of the night posting on here! Thanks for the support guys, keep on truckin'
[QUOTE=dgpebbles]Well I made it to the gym last night at 10:30 and I was there till 1:45am..wow can you believe it..I did 60 mins on elliptical and around 1 1/2 hr on weights...calories were 1354 which was higher than I thought it would be.
patce - yes you just have some days low and some days high to where your average for the week is 1500...you could have like a 1000 cal day and a 2000 cal day just whatever so it averages 1500
Thank you, Donna. Now it makes sense.I'm having a hard time posting....have to request another password every time I sign in. That lasts for a day, then same thing again. Grrrr.....hope my SIL can find the problem when he visits next wk. BTW....congrats on your loss...the numbers are great.Pat
patce, just a note...you may not want your spread as far apart as 1000 calories from one day to the next...just personal opinion, I know others will disagree. I don't like to go under 1200 for more than a day, if you need more of a deficit look to get it from working out. *flexes*
I agree on the calorie spreading...I was trying to just give an example...I usually go from 1200 to 1600 calorie days or somewhere in between....I also try to have the higher calorie days on the days that I do longer cardio...
today is also my weigh-in day and I'm down 2.6lbs this week which puts me at 172.4...I'm almost at my April 1st goal..
Pat- I don't know what could be the reason for your password problem....Maybe you could try to private message one of the girls that made this site..
Here I am again.....just can't get on site. So odd....I log in & it says welcome patce....then I post & it says you are not logged in.
Thanks for the up & down info.I have probs getting my calorie count high enough & never go below 1000 , prefer 1200 for a low.... 1650 for a high.Eating lots of fruit, veggies & low fat ....doesn't add up to high cal.Yesterday,I was at 950.....so had a whole cup of HC ice cream...180 cals & yum...was delicious.
Hopefully,SIL will be able to fix whatever....so far as site is concerned.I'll take your advice & see if I can find a private e mail addy.
Whooops/////almost forgot......WI was down 3lbs.....but was for 2wks. I'll take it tho Pat
Pat- congrats on the 3lbs..even though it's for 2 weeks thats still 1.5lbs per week which is great...keep it up...I also have problems getting in calories sometimes...I normally drink a protein shake and that gives me about 300 extra calories along with extra protein..
Maybe try getting a nice big breakfast in for your extra calories...it also kick starts your metabolism. I find it's worth getting up a little earlier to make time for it. I had an awesome workout last night for 500 calories burned! Back in the gym tonight and hopefully I can power it out again. An awesome mp3 mix really helped. Have a great day girls!
patce--I have had the same login problem as you've described. If you check the little box that says "remember me" (I think that's what it says) when you login, then that should fix it. You can still log out afterwards so it won't remain logged in for he world to access.
I had the same problem when I tried logging on with my sister's computer. If I didn't check that box, then anytime I tried to write a reply or anything, it said I wasn't logged in--soooo frustrating! I think it has to do with security issues--it's safer to make you log in 20 times than o pssibly have someone else pretending to be you because you forgot to log out
As for me, dieting has been a bust lately, but yesterday and so far today have been back on track. I'vegot some TOM and sodium bloat to get rid of now, plus a few pounds I'm sure I've gained over the past couple weeks. But I'm at my new job now, so I've got a better schedule and no group or co-workers to drag me down to the cafeteria every day
Glad to have you back Jill! Completely unrelated to zig-zagging etc. but I had read a battle of posts between you and a woman who was saying that we can't have the foods we love and lose weight. I just wanted to say I 100% back you up. Cheesecake is death to a diet but if you don't dabble in your danger foods occasionally than a binge is not far off. I guess that's what I like about the way of looking at your calories over a week rather than a day. Thanks for all the helpful info you've shared.
Kristy-great job on burning those calories...and getting to the gym...Boy it's so addicting...One you get on track its hard to miss a day...I agree with the music...I bought a ipod and use it now...it really keeps you pumped up while doing your cardio....
Welcome back Jill...we've missed you around here....the good thing is that you DID get back on board....Good luck with the new job..
I also agree...eat what you want as long as you stay under your calories....I eat ice cream as my treat at least once a week and I'm still losing every week...
Thanks all for the tips & info.I usually have oatmeal with DaVinnci syrup & Lite N Fit yogurt for brfast.Lunch is the meal I can't skimp on.....lunch keeps me till dinner time.Portion control is key for me...need it stamped on my forehead.
Slow down/portion control is my mantra.
Jill....I do have the box checked at sign in to remember me....doesn't help. Neighbor said to try logging in thre IE....so that's where I am.Would rather be on AOL where my family mail is. Your posts are what got me started.....so good luck with getting back on track. It happens to us all...doesn't make it right, just a fact.....at least for me. This time, I have treats figured in & ditto on eating out..... it's working for me.Pat
Hey ladies, just thought I would check in. I had an accidentally *really* low cal day because I wasn't feeling too well and slept all day. Look for my new diet book "Sleeping your way thin" Too good to be true? Yeah, I'll make up for the calories tomorrow I'm sure. I felt really bad about not making it to the gym today but my boyfriend has offered to go in with me tomorrow afternoon so I can make up for it. Keep up the awesome work girls!
Look for my new diet book "Sleeping your way thin"
Rotfl! This was totally me yesterday, except my book is "Obsessively Play Video Games your way Thin"
I've begun losing again! I think I just needed to stop slacking off and start getting serious again, because the weight's dropping off just like it did when I first started dieting :-D
This morning was 136.5, a number that I look at and can't believe is my weight. I don't feel that different... but I suppose I look different: (and it helps when I wear a more flattering shirt in the last picture!)
