I'm finding myself online with less frequency now that I've started school again, but luckily, I've kept with the losing even through the transition!

I went from a week and a half of weighing 136-134 to dropping down to 132.5 this morning out of nowhere! Haha, completely bypassing the 133's is fine by me!

I now have people whom I barely know noticing my weight loss! The cashier at the convenience store near my college said I was looking great! lol Talk about weird!

Wow, your progress is awesome! you lost all this in 2 months? TERRIFIC!
  • During the first week of zigzag...how often did you all weigh yourselves. I had my first high calorie day yesterday (it was only 1675 VS my usual 1200 and MUCH more sodium) and boy is it showing despite a 450 cal workout to boot!
  • Is anybody still active in this thread? I'd like to join since I just started calorie cycling/zigzagging as well. Would love to hear from you all since I'm new here
  • I was wondering the same thing. I have been in the last 3 week IU change my cal intake most every day. I keep my low days for my weekdays and allow higher numbers on Friday and Saturday. I workin in the home all week. we as a family get out on weeekends more. So I save my Calories for then. Seems to work pretty well. Daily exercise I thinks hellp keep my intake down. .
  • Sorry to have left anyone hangin'...I'm back! I kinda started this thread, so I suppose I should be one to keep it going, eh?

I've been off-plan for quite some time now. My calorie cycling routine has been something more like 4000 calories one day, 2000 the next, then 3000... Needless to say, it hasn't been working so well But now I am back to working hard to lose this god forsaken fat! I'm not going to start counting my calories right away--rather, I'm going to focus on just eating healthier and making good choices. I will likely be inadvertently cycling calories, though, since like Firefly, I tend to have higher cals on the weekends.

And so, here we go...another round in the ring begins--let's see if I can win this one
  • i feel like i naturally cycle-- some days i am just hungrier than others. on those days, i go ahead and eat a bit more, and then i usually find i am either not that hungry later in the day or the next day.

the "hungry" day usually comes a day or two after an unusually hard workout-- like a longer run or a day-long hike.

my weight has been coming off slowly, but at least I haven't been miserable starving myself during the whole process! and people who haven't seen me since winter definitely notice the almost 10 lb loss. in another few pounds off, i will have to buy myself some new clothes
  • After reading through this thread, I realized that I'm prolly cycling and didnt realize it. I shoot for 1300 - 1400 per day. But some days are higher, some days are lower (depends on how hungry I am, TOM, etc.) and weekend are always higher. Might be worth it to start averaging it out and see. It would also explain why I still loose weight on weeks when I KNOW i've gone over, because they were balanced out by those few days I was under. Makes sense to me. And i've always given myself a "free" day everyweek. I"ll be checkin in here more often

Are you guys still around here?
  • Hey! Im interesting in zig zagging my calories but dont know how to zig zag it. I have been about 1400 calories and Im 5'6" and weigh about 135. I exercise 5 times a week on a good week. Some weeks its only 3 times. IT all depends on whats going on. Any suggestions would be great!

    Danielle
  • I'm not sure I understand your question, Dritter. If you have 1400 calories a day now, then all you have to do is eat more a few days and less a few days so at the end of the week, it still averages out to 1400. Read back through this thread for plenty of tips and examples
  • Can I join in? I've discovered calorie cycling is the thing for me! I had been stuck for 3 months now then went away for a few day, overate (went up to 1900 calories..the crime!) then reduced then BAM weight loss again! My average was the same as it has been for the last year but I'm sure it's the cycling that's got things moving again.

So I'm going to average rather than stick to 1450 a day as I have been. Hurrah for cycling!!!!
  • could anyone here tell me what type of foods i should eat on calorie shifting,zigzagging...I started it on wed..my calories so far have been
    wed.1169
    thur.1064
    fri.2000
    sat1542

can i eat whatever i want or should it be fruits and veggies?
  • I think calorie shifting is like calorie counting except you are changing up the amount of calories you are having each day.

My suggestion would be to eat fruits, veggies, lean meats, whole grains and a dose of healthy fat.

Others will have more suggestions soon, I am sure. Hang in there
  • I am going to give this a try, when I workout the calories for my week I'll post.
