Lisa sounds like the hubby enjoyed shopping. you will do fine just becareful. Lately I have started to lose again.i think its because I am journaling my food intakes and more aware of the choices I am making. I also reintroduced myself to the little square white thing I kept in the closet. Since doing so on 4/24 I have managed to get back down to where I was in march and then a little more. So read the labels and measure, count and exercise and it will come off. Sarah welcome to the site. I am on this one and another daily which helps me to stay in sight of my goals. I am shooting for 10 miles of walking a week. I also have a mini goal set for losing I started off with needing to lose 7.5lbs by 5/27 but have lost 4.5 already. So now to just keep them off and lose 3lbs. more by then! I am trying to make it. Maybe I will be lucky enough to met it and then some. Now that would be great. Setting a mini goal has been helpful to me also. Well good luck. I am 5'7'' and my calories I shoot for are between 1400 and 1500 I like to try for the lower. Your doctor has given you guidelines at least. I really just make up my own but if I stick to them it works. I will try next month to shoot for 1350-1400 cals. Good luck and welcome again.

I so agree....It seems like I have been in a stand still for months and months and I have been eating what I feel is right but haven't been counting or journaling my food or calories. You tend to slip more and more as you stop writing down your intake. Now how do I start back! I forget...I had gotten so use to what cals are in stuff I could just write it and now I feel lost......

We went to the beach last weekend and I just ate what ever and now I feel so bad. I did a good 45 minute work out last night and am watching my food intake closely but I think that If I begin to actually document my cals again I will see a weight loss again. Help!

Hi to all of you and hope every one is moving and on track! Welcome to all the newbies......this is a good support group!

Good morning ladies! I too have not been journaling my food. I had a pretty long dr's visit yesterday and we are going to try some things. First off we are switching my thyroid and adding in some natural progesterone cream. I have to journal my food and bring it in at my next visit, or whenever, I work with him once a week, and he said I could talk whenever I need to. Have to run, Forgot to help DS with homework, so now we have to get it done before the bus comes. Have a great day!!

Me too and It is just one of those things where, once you do pick it back up it is like you never stoped... Now to start picking it back up? I tend to use time as a reason not to count.... I need to find a little pocket computer that you just put in things as you eat them to keep a daily count. Is there such a thing out there? If so what is it called, how much $ and where do I buy it? LOL

Just checking in. I think I did pretty darn good yesterday in journaling in Fitday..but, I got overly hungry last night and basically put anything into my mouth. That's where I go wrong. If I wait too long (and I work 2nd shift on Monday/Tuesday/Friday) I wait for dinner (rather than take a frozen to work--tried that...got sick of it) and eat everything I run into!!! I need to REFORM myself!!!!

ARGH! Went to the doctor today for a monthly check up (he put me on new meds) and I am down 2lbs. That's good. But, I weighed 150 when I went there before..so, I weighed in today at 148..which is UP for me...was down to 145...it fluctuates every day!

Talk to you all later,
Sarah

Cha the scale usually scares me back on track. Thats just the way it goes for me. I also take a long look at my behaviors and decide what do I need to do to move on in the direction I want. That is when I started to count cals. and write in my journal for me it helps. Good luck getting back on track! You can do it! Just make up your mind of when its going to be and get started. Taking control of our lifes isn't easy but no one else is going to do it for us. Ellen good luck on the changes and hopefully it will get you moving quickly. I have thyroid issues also and if its out of wack it sure can put the lbs. on. Whats with the cream? I haven't hard of that before? Only answer if you want just wondered no pressure here. Amoses yah I needed to journal again as a few lbs. seemed to slip back on my body some how. I kind of started to eat what ever feeling oh well I have been exercising etc. Well it was a no no! Now I have lost what I put on and a half lbs. more. So journaling does make me more aware and reading portions and controling things makes a huge difference. Since 4/27 I am down 4.5lbs. so I feel pretty good now. I am trying to lose at least 3 lbs. more by the 27th of May. I have a wedding shower and a wedding so I need to keep a balance before both those events and inc. the exercise the day before also to ensure no gain. Good luck everyone. I also ck into a site daily it helps to keep me motivated and accountable.

cacmsc~The progesterone cream is mainly for the inbalance of the "female" hormones. Because there is an overabundance in estrogen, the progesterone is supposed to ballance it out. It will hopefully help with PMS, adn the weight loss. I can't start it for about a week, but I will let you guys know if it is helping. IO did good journaling yesterday, but boy was it a pain in the rear.

I did 20 mins on the eliptical and 35 mins with weights. So I am doing well, adn feeling good today.

Have a great day!!!

Thanks cac!! UR right, I do need to set my mind, and just go for it!! I am thinking I am at a point right now where I feel sorry for myself. And that is just enough to keep me off track. Still waiting for my new BB dvds!! Its gonna be smashing results when I start!! I know it will!! Last time I used Tae Bo tapes, was back before my son was concieved. I went from a size 18 in jeans to a size 10 in like 2 months or less!! BB makes ya sweat like a pig, and lose inches for sure!! I just lost intrest in my old tapes because my body is used to them now, so I dont get much of a workout anymore. So the new ones will be WAY harder and much more effective for me!! Cant wait!! Anyhooo, gotta work on getting my mind set for this. I lost a few more ounces from yesterday...WOOHOO!!! Gotta keep going, just gotta!!!

Hi Everyone,
Wecome Sarah
Don't have too much time at the moment but I'm thrilled to see all the posts and I want to contribute.
Do we still have a moderator?
Sarah, I think our expert would tell you that you might want to be adding in exercise, and not cut the calories too dramatically at the start. She told me that in recent years the experts say we should factor in exercise, but have more calories. So, for example, you might want to get 1/2 hour exercise per day, and leave the calories at 1100. See how that does for you, and then you can decrease or increase one or t'other. It will make it easier for you to stick to a plan.

Hi guys...
Just wanted to respond...I am sorry that I didn't elaborate on what I already do. I am an exercise fanatic!! My husband was a dear and bought me a beautiful new treadmill for Christmas. I guess a lot of people would look down a gift like that, but I thought it was wonderful! I do approx 5,000 steps on it at a time..which is approx 35min for me..at 10% elevation. It reads out that I burn on average 470 calories a time. I usually do that 6 days a week. I also have a gazzelle...that's a nice change...sometimes I alternate..but most of the time I do both every day. The gazzelle (and I know I am probably spelling that wrong) usually burns about 230cal at a time and I only stay on it about 25 min. That's a lower impact workout for me. My big thing is that I need to get strength training back in. I used to get up every morning at 5:30am to go lift weights at my local gym. I was doing pretty well, but then we moved!!! So, I bought some resistance bands...I think I will have to get the motivation up and use them now.

Hope everyone's night is good. I am heading off to 'Mommies Night' at my son's school. It is pot luck and everyone is asked to bring a covered dish...ick! I think I will pick and when I get home, eat something healthy!

Well, did pretty well last night. I stayed with the more 'veggie' oriented stuff...but, I thought most of the dishes there looked like dog food anyway...(nice visual, right?) And, I did pick 2 desserts when my table went up..but, didn't eat them!!! Yay me!!! I did what we all did but didn't eat it!!

A positive about last night..I was the BIG WINNER! We played 'greed' and I walked away with 3 prizes. I got a huge basket with picnic stuff in it (plates, nice plasticware, glasses, a chips and dip plate, candle etc) I got 4 tickets to our scenic railway service in our area (my 5 yr old is so into trains, he is excited) and I got a $50 gift certificate to 'Lighthouse Pools n' More' (does anyone have that in their area?? they are a bigtime hot tub store) I don't have a hot tub, but maybe I can go and get some fun stuff there.

I also got flowers for doing my son's Acme receipts this year for his school...the program earned the school over $500!!!

Does everyone here have kids? I have 2..a boy and girl..my boy is practically 5 (june) and my girl is 3! They are my pride and joy...both beautiful and wonderful...except for when they aren't...haha!!

I'll be on this morning..I don't work until this afternoon...it's an ick day here in Ohio...so, inside day!

Geeeeeeez!!! The weekend was fun, yes, but the lbs are BACK!!! UGH. I cant figure it out!! I try so hard to watch what I eat. I have been good since thurs. when hubby went back to work. But yesterday, I had one taco salad, and one orange soda, along with my normal amount of cals. Plus I played soccer and golf with the kiddos at the park!!! So, WHY is the scale saying that I weigh more than it did three days ago??? I have kept my cals between 12-1400 for 4 days!!! And I have gotten a small amount of exercise in too. I should be dropping at least a few ounces, if not a lb or two. GRRRRRRRR!!!!! This is why I cant get back on track!!! I lose my self confidence, and go into a big depression stage. I keep thinking that by trying and not succeeding, why bother, right? UGH!!!! Someone please SLAP me!!!!
