Default Starting Over ... Again!!

Hi Ladies,

Hope you don't mind me joining in. I've been yo-yoing for months now (well, years actually!!) and really need to get myself sorted out once and for all ... I can't go on like this forever! I've joined in with a few threads in the past but a lot of them seem to fizzle out after a week or two. I've noticed however, that this thread has been going for a long time and everyone seems very motivated and supportive which is just what I need ... a place to come everyday to be able to share my ups and downs.

I've updated my weight loss tracker today ... I have my note book ready to log everything that I eat ... Planning to have 1500 cals a day ... So here I go again ........

Nichola

Hi Tori and Hi Nichola-

Yes, this thread has been going on for a long time...for about 5 years, actually. I discovered 3FC when my son was a newborn...and that was over 5 years ago now!
With my family's background in health and fitness related things, I always knew WHAT to do-as how to eat, all about exercise, etc.-but the problem with me was having no one to talk to when I was having a bad day-after a big eating binge, after an illness or something where I had slacked off my workouts for a few days and now I was unmotivated to get back into the swing of things again-or someone to share my excitement with when I fit into a new clothing size, or refused the cake at a party. It is hard to share these things with those around you if they don't have weight problems, you know.

This was a super busy weekend, and I am STILL recuperating from it. My SIL's wedding was Saturday-and I have pretty much spent the last two weeks altering dresses, makuing floral arrangements and decorations, and what have you...my husband was an usher, I was a bridesmaid, and our children were flower girl and ring bearer-so we were right in the thick of things the entire time. It all went well, though-and everyone had a good time-it was just a few months of hard, hard work for the immediate family. We are all glad it is over now.

It wouldn't be so bad if we just hired everyone to do everything-but since my MIL and I sew, we did the dresses, and she and her best friend work in a cafeteria and do cake decorating-so they planned out the bulk buffet and wedding cake and everyone helped with that-the sort of thing where everyone had many jobs to do. I ended up having 1 1/2 hours of sleep Friday night, and about the same Saturday night. I slept in this morning about 2 hours longer than usual...

I have class tonight (teaching) so I am going to have an hour of dancing in today...and I may do a little strength training during the day as well. It is nice having 2 days a week where my exercise is "guaranteed" because I HAVE to do it-no excuses!!!

Friday afternoon I went in with both of my SIL's to have pedicures. I normally do my own (went to cosmetology school right after high school) but with my belly so big now, I have been slacking off because I simply can't reach my feet AND breathe...so it was a wonderful treat!!!! (The best perk of the wedding. ) It was a handsome man who was giving them in the salon as well, so that helps, too. My skin on my heels and such is so soft and smooth now-and the nails are smooth and perfectly shaped and polished. I told my husband I am going to have to treat myself here in town and get one again sometime in the next few weeks as well. They are GREAT. I HIGHLY recommend.

Whoops, I meant say more before sending. Yes, we've been here awhile, and would love to hear more from you.

I myself have been off program for the last 3 day and the scale groaned this am. But I see where I went wrong - got too tired and tried to also cure a sinus headache with food. With no exercise it was double damage. So I'll have to pay the piper and walk now although its hot!!!!!
I'm married, living temporarily in CT w/DH who is an aircraft engineer here on a contract. Have one DGD by marriage.
Prayers for all of us to stay op today.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the welcome! I made a good start yesterday ... had 1260 of my 1500 calorie allowance ... ate well and didn't feel hungry Things are also going well so far today, so it should end up being another good day

Generally speaking, what do most of you do when you don't eat all of your daily calorie allowance? I'm allowing myself 1500 cals a day, and last night I was full after eating 1260 cals throughout the day, so I didn't see the point in eating the extra 240 cals just for the sake of it. Would most of you then just forget about the cals you haven't eaten, or do you save them to use for any little extra treats at the weekend (I do enjoy the odd glass of wine ... or two!), or if you have a 'bad day' and overinduldge a little too much it sort of balances out? Just wondering how you all use up your calories?

I'm not new to calorie counting ... Oh no!. I've tried various different diet plans over the years, but find that I always come back to counting calories as it's the one that I've had most success with. I know what I have to do, I know it works and I know it's pretty simple ... I just need to stick with it!

Nichola

Nichola~I usually just roll with it. It all evens out, but if you weanted you could keep track of your "extra cal" and use them like WW Flex points. But be carful, because at the end of the week you could have collected quite a few "extra" calories. I always go with what my body is telling me, some days I eat less and some I eat more, it depends on how active my week has been.

I did pretty good last night. My DB turned 30 and we had a small family gathering and I only had one plate of pasta, I had a piece of cake, then DD1 did not want hers, so I had what was left, but left off the frosting-too sweet. I am showing a loss this morning, so hopefully all the extra sodium from this weekend is out of my system. I WILL eat well today to keep this moving.

Kids are going nuts...have to go intervene

Nichola-

I normally just sort of average it out. If I was a little under 2-3 days through the week (100-200 cals or so...) then on the weekend or something, I will feel free to go slightly over my calorie allowance for something special-dinner out, a glass of wine (although not now obviously...LOL) or something like that.

The thing is though, you don't want to *save* calories, as in eating 1000 a day when your level is 1500, so you can totally pig out on Saturday and Sunday-because that isn't healthy, and we need that fuel regularly.

Upswife & Aphil, thanks for your advice, that's pretty much what I'd planned to do ... sort of let them balance out and not always think I've got to have exactly 1500 cals a day ... Which is a good thing really, as I ended up having 1860 yesterday!! Thankfully I only had 1260 the day before so it almost evens out ... need to eat a few less today though!! Hubby's fault ... he came home from work and opened a nice bottle wine which I couldn't resist ... and one glass led to another! I really need to get my self control in order!

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to join your little group as well. I registered several months ago, stopped coming here for no apparent reason and started posting yesterday (in the health issues section). I think yesterday was one of those (close to) rock-bottom days for me. So here I am trying to lose weight. Again.

I've done several programs in the past. I think this is the smart way to go (for me). So many of you folks on this site have been so successful! You are an inspiration to those of us who have to have a good, long talk with ourselves about starting again.

Since yesterday was one of those days that got my attention about how awful I feel, I cut out pop (soda to those in the south ) and drank water and juice. I've started today out the same way and did a small amount of walking. This may sound silly, but I feel good already.

I can only hope that this is the beginning of a better way of life. I certainly need it.

I look forward to giving and getting ideas, etc.
