Good Evening Everyone! Well today is my first time having real food after fasting. My tummy is no longer the bottomless pit. LOL! It's amazing. For lunch I only had vegetable soup and was stuffed to the gills, then for dinner, I had a little salad and soup and was totally stuffed too. I'm really loving it. I'm also content with having just fruit for breakfast. I usually have a bowl of Kashi Go Lean and some Vanilla Soy milk.
GrammyL-Kim Chi is an acquired taste, I love it on fresh rice. Let's just say that I used a lot of Toilet paper and baby wipes while fasting. It was definitely an experience. Oh and are you talking about the vege cheese? I never had it, but did have soy butter it wasn't too bad. The vege mayo isn't bad either. If you really must use it. Zenor- They have two Pageants the Miss and Mrs., so I'm all good. I just need to fly down to SO Cal for that though. Though if I did win, I have to find a way to fulfill my duties. LOL! |
Tinky ~ Yes it was the veggie cheese and I bought some last night, I just can't do it. The texture is fine but it taste like artificial cheese and the after taste is something else. The funny thing was my GS liked it. He didn't eat a full slice though and I am wondering if the after taste eventually got to him. I will just keep buying my fat free sliced cheese. Wow, sounds like you really shrunk your tummy up. Is your energy level staying up eating that little? I think I would be exhausted.
Tinky I think its cool that your Mom challenged you to this pageant. I could never do it because I don't like getting up in front of people, its a phobia and its really bad. I remember almost passing out trying to give a speech in high school and was even willing to take a D in the class to keep from doing it. It would mean being grounded for 6 weeks but it seemed worth it to me. I did do it but I would never do it again. Ok, I am catching myself doing silly things. I bought some of the Almond milk and it is good but you know I never used milk to start with so why would I decide to add the extra calories? Sometimes I just wonder about myself. Its shelf stable so I will keep it and use it on occasion. The store was out of Boca brats last night so I had to go with Ivy (think that was the name). The first bight I thought GROSS! I can't eat this but I took another small bite. Then for some reason even though I wasn't super keen on the taste something inside really wanted it. I can't explain why, its like my body said I WANT THIS. I still would have preferred the Boca. I split one between the dogs and they loved it. I could only eat one before I was stuffed, so that is a good thing. Well I better get going and do this little project I have to do. I have been putting it off long enough. |
Good Morning all! Yay Thursday is a upon us!
GrammyL- Yeah it feels my tummy has shrunk, it's ok by me. Less for me to have to eat. As for feeling tired, after eating, yeah I did feel a bit tired, but then felt energetic after the food processed. Public speaking has either been really good for me or bad. If I psych myself up too much, then I start faltering. LOL! Grammy, have you tried the Boca Italian Sausage yet? We saw them at Costco and was thinking of buying them. They looked pretty good. Looked like the real thing. Well I'm going to work on a few projects here at work, but will check in later. ;) Have a great morning everyone! |
Finally Posting
Hey everyone,
I have been lurking around for a few days and I am finally gonna try and jump in and participate. I have started counting calories, and I am trying to keep them at about 1600...but the last 2 days I have still went over. This time..LOL...I am not gonna look at this as a diet, I am gonna look at this as a way of life..for the rest of my life! So just losing about a pound a week will be fine. The last time I weighed was at the doctor's office, so I am not gonna weigh again until I go back there, in about another 4 weeks. But I did start exercising again, and drinking water. I always come to this forum, read all the great posts, see all the accomplishments that people have had, but I don't get involved. Anyhow, I plan on being around awhile this time! |
Welcome Ladybug!!
Sorry I haven't been around much, ladies, work got crazy this week. Things are going pretty well for me. Overate quite a bit this weekend but have been super active (I've walked or run a combined 15 miles this week) so I'm at LEAST maintaining for the week. We'll see where I'm at for weigh-in tomorrow. Lara -- There was a brief period when we ate a lot of vegan cheeses, although we ended up cutting them out eventually as part of the whole unprocessed-as-possible deal. But I remember there was one made from almonds that I really liked, and one rice-based one. One of the two was tastier, but the other melted better, although I can't remember which was which. I love kimchee myself, but I agree it's an acquired taste. You can salt-ferment all kinds of vegetables though, and don't necessarily have to add the chili or sugar etc. We ferment our own sauerkraut and it is sooo tasty. It's different every time, but the last batch had cabbage, daikon, carrot, fennel seed, dill, and celery seed. And of course sea salt. It takes 2-4 weeks to ferment (in a special crock) and then it can keep in the fridge for a few months... but it never lasts that long around here! |
Lara - almond milk is shelf stable before it's opened, but once opened, it must be refrigerated, and I find that it only lasts for about a week or two in the fridge before going bad. Just in case you didn't know :)

WELCOME You have the right frame of mind. We are not on a diet. We have changed the way we look at, think about, and eat food. I eat more now than I ever did. I am just eating the right things. I am never hungry, how can I be lol, it takes from the time I get up until I go to bed to get the required amounts of the four basic food groups in. Yes, at times it is a juggling act. Keeping within the general amounts I allow myself for calories, fats and carbs. Fit day makes it pretty easy. Do I do without, not much. I make sure I have my yummy everyday and even get to have a can or two of mountain dew every week. This isn't about doing without. This is about eating right. |
Hey all! Decided to hop on here while on my lunch break.
GrammyL-I messed up, it's not Boca, it's Tofurkey. LOL Ladybug-:welcome2: Great lifestyle choice! It's wonderful! You can eat what you want within your calorie limit! Great to have you on board! Coldbright- Wow, that's alot of mileage you got this week! Way to go. I am clear to exercise today, and wouldn't you know it's raining out. No walking around the lake for me today. I'll find something else to do. Almondmilk...that sound delish! I may have to pick some up, but I do love my soy milk too. Especially Vanilla flavor. Shymoment- Spoken like a true calorie counter! Way to go! :D |
Tinky ~ I don't remember if I have had that kind or not. I try everything I can get my hands on. LOL! I did buy the Morning Star sausages yesterday but I haven't had a chance to try them yet. As you can tell I am thinking about doing the fruit flush but I wouldn't have any idea how to do it and I would probably botch it up somehow. Miss the toilet or find the stall that doesn't haven any. LOL! I have to use public restrooms all day.
Coldbrightday ~ What you make sounds YUMMY! You know that cheese I had did taste like almonds at first but the after taste was of oil or something. I decided to just stick with my FF cheese and I may even start buying organic. Laura ~ I should have added that it came in 4 small boxes that I can open one at a time. Thanks for the advise. Ladybug ~ :welcome2: I have to second what Shy Moment said about the right attitude. I am making sure the changes I am making are for a lifetime. By the way I used to love catching and playing with Ladybugs when I was a kid but as an adult I have been bitten by them. Tinky ~ I have heard of that brand from TV but I have never seen it. I like Chocolate Soy milk. My GS was lactose intolerant so he had to drink soy until about 6 months ago. His intolerance for dairy has gone away and he just can't get enough of it now. Well it was a sad day because DH is now gone for at least 2 weeks. It will be good on the sleep (DH moves a lot) and food front however. I know I said this yesterday but I am trying to convince myself. LOL! I do miss him when he is gone for long periods of time and the last time he went out there it was for a month straight. Have to get going and I will talk to you all tomorrow. |
Laura
I know it can be hard when they are gone. Just keep in mind he won't be gone for long. Tinky I have found if I keep my carbs within range and my fat within range. The calories tend to take care of them selfs lol. Sometimes I do have to eat more to get enough calories in a day. |
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I hope to get to know all of you. I have been looking at all the weight that has been lost and it really is encouraging Talk to ya soon!
|
Shy- I know what you mean, I used to have to try to get more in, but usually I would eat a big meal or go out to eat and it would even out. You're doing great!!
GrammyL- I love Morning Star Sausage patties. Well I will let you know about Tofurkey Sausage. My mom sometimes would use it and make a fried rice. She's turned vegetarian, since my dad made that move, she said it got too tiring to cook 2 different meals each time, but she does have occasional fish, and chicken, once in a blue moon. She said she can't stand the smell of meat anymore. This was the same carne asada, Chicken fried steak loving mom. I found that pretty amazing. Now the fruit flush, is that the one where you have to drink whey protein and fruit? If that is the same one, I couldn't do it. The protein shake has stevia. I don't like it, it made me gag. :o I love ladybugs too, they're so cute! Zenor- Did you or DH get to have any sushi while in Seattle? I'll wait till Monday to put my ticker on. I want to see how my regular eating will affect my loss since breaking the fast. Well talk to you all later. |
Tinky
I am not a going out kind of person. Ohhhh the thought of someone else touching my food YUCK. I don't even want my food to touch each other let alone someone else touch it. |
Lara, what brand do you buy? I travel Monday-Thursday every week, and it's so hard to use up the whole regular sized box in three days!
|
Good Morning! Happy Friday Everyone!!! :woohoo:
The weekend is finally here, but it's a little scary, I know what kind of damage I used to on on weekends with eating, but this time I'm going to take control! I hope everyone has a great Friday and a even better weekend!! :D |
