Irish ~ Sorry your still having problems. It may take a while to get your system back to normal. Make sure you eat, drink your liquids and get plenty of rest.

ODD ended having sinusitis and bronchitis. I tried to get her to go on Monday and she finally went yesterday. Today her eyes are swollen but she is enjoying being with her baby again, thank goodness. My Dad had a talk with her and I think that helped. I don't know why but she always seems to need a strong male role models approval and my Dad gave that little boost to her.

I had never heard that about fruit but it sure is interesting. I eat fruit as a pre breakfast before I workout. I eat fruit as a pre lunch before I workout, I eat fruit as a pre dinner before I workout. How strange, had no idea I was doing it right lol.

Shy Moment ~ It does make sense doesn't it. The carbs in the fruit gets your system revved up and ready to go. Kind of like what Tinky is doing with her fruit flush. It cleans all the yuckiness off your intestinal walls according to this author. Her specialty is helping people flush their intestinal tracks. So keep doing what your doing, it will make you less gassy and you will be clean on the inside.

I haven't used FitDay in a while but I was curious to see what it would say for my food for the day. I am amazed that I am very close to my calculations at home. I figured higher they they did but its nice to know I am close.

The other thing I wanted to check out was to see my protein for the day. This book that I am reading said I would but I wasn't so sure. I didn't realize that their is protein in just about everything I eat. I was worried I wasn't getting enough protein and I am getting more than the recommended amount. I was really shocked and I even left a serving of cheese out that I normally have.

Here is the problem. Since I have IBS ( Irritable Bowel Syndrome ) I have the problem of just about everything making me gassy lol. It isn't as bad as it use to be but I can still have the problem. Ok, so it happened one time and the dog started barking at the front door. She thought someone had rang the door bell. My kids still bring that up from time to time. I was very surprised when fit day showed me that I eat way more protein a day than I need. I happen to love egg whites, tuna and chicken and love love love salmon.

I really want to know what a calorie counter is supposed to do when she's hungry?
I've tried to stay in the 1500-1700 calorie range, which is higher than a lot of you are on. Most days I'm fine, but some days I'm flat-out starving. I don't feel that it's always possible to stay on target if I'm hungry. I already eat high-fiber foods and protein. And I don't think this hunger is caused by anything but ACTUAL hunger.

I think what a great many of us do is break our 3 meals of the day into 6 meals. This way we don't really have that long in between times we eat. How did you come up with the calories amounts you have set for yourself? Maybe seeing a nutritionist/dietitian would help to see if you are eating enough. Maybe, like the rest of us, it is just something you will get use to. Eating less and more often.

I used a calculator that said I need about 2400 calories to maintain my weight.
I started off eating 1500 calories/day and just stayed hungry - so I started allowing another 100 calories or so. I think you may be onto something about eating several smaller meals - I have noticed I'm generally less hungry when I do that.

I also wonder if it's some sort of hormonally driven hunger?

ColdBright-Congrats on the jeans, that's awesome!

IrishFairy-Hope you are doing better! Talk about a fast!

Here in East TN this morning we have rain, snow, mix. We live in a valley and it's been years since we've had a good snow. Looks like we'll have to wait until next year.

Diva 03-08-2008 08:25 AM

ChrystalM, we live in Newport, prolly East of you and we had 3 to 4 inches the other day when it snowed and they closed all the schools, hehe, ya just need to move closer to me. :D

2400 calories seems like a great deal of calories. You must be a very tall very active person.

Since 10:30 am yesterday we now have 16 inches of snow. It stopped snowing but is snowing again. We live in a little valley. We either get nothing or we get a ton.

Hello, Well I have done better this week keeping my calories higher. One day hubby thought he was being sweet and brought me home hot fried chicken. I ate most of it...but my IBS didnt approve. I had a miserable night and then I explained to hubby that I hadnt had greasy food in 6 weeks and that my stomach has been so much better. I also told him that one fried chicken breast had a half of days worth of calories . He said he had no idea it wasnt something i could eat.MEN!! lol

Lol.
No I'm tall and heavy (though, I do exercise a fair amount, the 2400 calorie figure assumes pretty light activity). And of course I'm not trying to MAINTAIN my weight - I'm trying to lose.

Hi, can I join you guys? Im a vegan and I would like to lose about 38 pounds. I will post daily about my day. Bye Guys. I start my new diet tomorrow.

Diva 03-09-2008 09:53 PM

Well, I switched to The Daily Plate yesterday to count my calories & fitness. I was shocked to see how much more that site offers than fitday. They have forums and groups, and all kinds of stuff. I think I'm gonna like it. :) I do think they over calculate on the fitness calories burned though.

Hope you all had a great OP weekend. My Future FIL was here visiting and was kind enough to joke about my putting on some more weight. Wasn't that just sweet of him? grrrrrrrr:mad: Amazingly, I stayed OP and didn't emotionally eat. :carrot:
