I was worried about rennet in my cheese but the cheese and brands I eat are rennet free. I am not really going to worry about this to much because it will drive me insane if I do. LOL!
Chicken lovers, one of my other hens is laying. I had two eggs last night. WHOHOO! Just one more to go and we have three layers. DH said that he doesn't care if we get more bantams if that is what makes me happy. He said that we don't eat that many eggs anyway. He is only home on the weekends and I don't eat very many but find it fun collecting them and patting my pretties. GS got a kick out of the rooster crowing again this morning and was saying chicken before we even opened to door. Strange what the little guys remember. Well I am off for the evening and I will talk to you all later. |
Hello! I've been pretty good at eating today. After yesterday's food fest, I needed something good, err healthier!
Grammy- :thanks: you made me blush! Yeah black hair doesn't work with everyone, a lot of people who live up here dye their hair black, and yeah, not so attractive. I know I said this before, but I want some laying hens too! Hmmm, maybe when DF and I move into our house in a few years, I'll get some. I can't wait to go back to the suburbs! Coldbright- Yeah all that food and sodium will spike your weight temporarily. I know after I eat out, I stay away from the scale for a couple of days. LOL! You have a great attitude! ;) Hmm as for pets, I've had dogs, birds, hamsters, turtles, frogs, koi fish, and my bro. (J/k on the last one) LOL |
Tinky ~ My DD tried to die hers black and even though she is a 1/4 Mexican and has a little darker completion, you could tell it wasn't natural. My hair keeps getting darker with age. I used to have almost white hair as a child and now its light brown. I kinda like getting away from the blond thing.
Man the goat has been such a plain in the rear but I was in a panic last night because I couldn't find him. He must have been behind the round bale feeder because he finally heard me calling stupid goat and he came running. Open your inner child and blow some bubbles this weekend. LOL! I bought GS a bubble machine last night, looks like a dinosaur, and he played with that for about 1/2 hr. I love playing with bubbles as much now as when I was a kid. Boys though, they think they need to know how everything works instead of just enjoying it. He was trying to pull the plug to fill it, wanted to mess with the batteries, etc. The funniest was when he had to look in the mouth while it was blowing bubbles and they popped in his face. He loved it. |
Hey Everyone!
I love animals. As of right now, we have a cat named Luna. I am a dog lover, but don't have an appropriate place for one right now. Someday I want a German Sheperd, they are my favorite! Anyhow, yesterday I didn't do so well as far as calories go. I haven't added them up yet, but I know I went over 2000 calories. I haven't exercised any this week. I have been so busy. I usually exercise in the morning after work, but I have had something to do everyday. I am off work today, so I plan on fitting in a work out. The modem went out on my computer. Where I live, it is either dial up or satellite. Satellite is way too expensive, so dial up is the only option. So until I get my computer fixed, I have to borrow my mom's. So I won't be able to visit the forum as much as I would like to. Anyhow, I hope everyone has a great weekend. The Easter Bunny will be visiting our house this weekend, so hopefully I won't dig in the baskets! |
So what is everyone doing for Easter and what yummies are you having? I am going to my parents and taking some samples of what I am eating now. My Dad has always been very open to trying new things and when I told my Mom I would bring my own foods as long as it didn't offend her my Dad got all excited. So I am going to take hummus with blue corn chips to dip in them or pita chips. I am going to make falafel balls. I am thinking about making my pasta salad that has Tomato & Basil Pizza burger w/green onions, tomatoes, bell peppers and Italian dressing. I want them all to see how healthy, nutritious and vegetarian food can be.
Today I used Morning Star Prime Griller starter and added taco seasoning to it. I put it over a bed of baby greens w/ 1/4 c organic cheddar cheese. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It always amazes me how I can have more faux meat for my calories than animal meat. I also find the faux meat much more filling and seems to stick around longer. Could be my system is also cleaning up and utilizing what I give it more efficiently. I caught one of my chickens in the act of laying her egg last night. She didn't know what to think but let me pet her while she was doing it. I didn't know that was what she was doing. I thought she had decided to set on an egg. For the 3rd week in a row I am down to 173 and if I stick with it this weekend, which is my plan, I should be back down to where I was. If not I will change my ticker to reflect where I am. I two events to go to. The one I plan on eating in advance and taking a snack. The other I am bringing my own food. What I am going to do to try and turn the weekend around is when I get up in the morning pack my meals for the day just like I would during the week. Then I can carry my bag with me and be ready wherever I go and stick with what I am doing. So that is my plan for stay on track. |
Since it it Easter we will be making Portuguese sweet bread. It's a recipe from DH's family (his grandfather was born in Portugal.) I'm going to try to make it 100% whole wheat this year. I'm going to use white wheat flour (so it still looks right) and I'm going to add vital wheat gluten to make it light and fluffy like white bread. I hope it turns out, the bread is kind of expensive to make (only make it at Easter.)
DH's family also has linguisa at EVERY holiday. It's not my favorite, so I may not eat any. I'm not big on sausage of any kind really and they eat it so often. It's surprising they aren't all sick of it. I'm trying another experiment this year too. I'm going to be dying Easter eggs with onion skins. I found directions on the instructables website. This proves to be a busy weekend since we are going fishing tomorrow at a lake near town. We'll be fishing for trout. I'm hoping to catch some. I love fish and fresh trout is so yummy! I hope everyone is having a great Friday! Have a Happy Easter! |
Zenor ~ The bread sounds interesting.
LOL! My Mom called me this morning and asked me if that stuff I eat for breakfast is an acquired taste. I said the stuff I eat for breakfast. She said yes, the plain low fat yogurt. I said it does have a tang but not bad once you put your fruit, cereal and sweetener in. She didn't put any sweetener it. She is going to try it tomorrow with sweetener. LOL! That stuff you eat for breakfast, like its the worse tasting thing on this earth. She cracked me up. |
Have a HAPPY EASTER! :easter2:
Can't wait to color eggs :easter: and see the Easter Bunny:bunny2: |
Easter Eggs!

Here are some pictures. Okay, I had to share! :D
Since we are going fishing tomorrow, I decided to do the eggs today. I dyed them with onion skins. It was super easy, natural, and didn't cost anything extra (just the cost of the eggs.) I've been saving onion skins for a couple weeks in preparation. |

To cool. How did you do that? Trout yummmmmmy. Grammy You will get to where you want to be on the weight front. Just give it time. We don't do anything special as for as easter goes. The kids are older so most things are in the past. We still color eggs because my son ( 21 ) loves colored eggs. When holidays hit each person in turn gets to pick what is for dinner. This year is my year. We are having BBQ ribs, potatoes, carrots and home made wheat bread. Sounds good to me lol. I saved a gram of fat a day and 3 carbs a day for the last 3 weeks so I could have this meal lol. I wont feel guilty in the least. My number will stay right where I want them and I will enjoy ribs lol. |
Shy~ That's how you do it! Save calories (or fat grams and carbs) for what you really want! Enjoy that meal!
It's just going to be DH and I at Easter, but he still wants the traditional Easter brunch (it's what his family does), so I'm making it. As far as the eggs, I followed some directions I found on instructables. First you soak the onion skins, eggs (raw), and some cheese cloth in water for a few minutes. You wrap the onions skins around the eggs (the water helps them adhere) and then you wrap in the ringed out cheese cloth and either rubber band close or use twine. Then you just boil as usual for hard boiled eggs. I put them in cold water with a bit of vinegar (so they peel easier) brought it to a boil, then took off the heat and covered for 18 minutes. Then wee unwrapped them, let dry and rubbed a coating of oil on them so they shine. I was surprised that it was so easy. |

It isn't something I do to often. When I know there is something I really want to have like ribs lol I do eat lower fat things and lower carb things to have a few saved up, I still get my required amounts of the four basic food groups in but I pick lower fat things for example like fish and chicken instead of beef and pork. Not really sure you can save things like that up but it makes me feel better so that is what I do lol. Thanks the kids and I are going to try that now lol. |
Hi Ladies! I can safely assume we're all ladies on here right? LOL! Well DF took me on a very nice dinner. I finally had some real sushi! I ordered the Sakura Salmon Seafood Bento. Say that 10 times fast! LOL! Wow, I was in heaven! It so good! It was so worth it, after coming home from work and cleaning the whole entire downstairs for 3 hours!
GrammyL-That's cool that you're bringing some veggie items to your parent's house. The salad sounds so good! I may have to try it! Salad season is coming up. I had really light brown hair as a baby, but as I grew older it got darker, but now it's turning dark brown. LOL Zenor- Those eggs look so good! How creative!!! Have fun fishing, and good luck! Ladybug- Yay another German Shepard lover! I miss my beloved Kiki. He lived to be 14 years! I definitely will get another one once I move into a house. Shy- Good for you for saving up! You definitely are a great planner!! Eat and be merry! ;) :easter: Ok all this talk about coloring Easter Eggs, definitely has put me into the mood to color some. I am going to go out and get some supplies later! I haven't colored eggs since I was a child! |
GOOD MORNING LADIES!
Today, I am just making the best of it. I was getting ready for work when DD called and told me I had to put GS in his room and shut the door when I dropped him off because she was to tired to watch him. Oh, and that I needed to pick a can of formula up for the baby because she is almost out. I told her I didn't have the funds to buy baby formula. She got nasty and told me to find a different place to drop GS off and not to call her ever again. So I hurried around and found a place to take GS and then he got up from his slumber. Then one of the dogs pooped in the house and I stepped in that. Cleaned that up and went to start the blazer and while I was out, GS rubbed lotion all over the bathroom mirror. I put on green eye shadow and blue eye liner. That was it I started laughing. Had to choose, laugh or cry so I chose to laugh. So my neighbor that runs a day care had an opening for GS and he will have 2 other 2 year old boys to play with. I warned her she can be a dickens with other kids because all he has seen in his life is violence from being with his Mom. She said she can handle him. I have to Jose to meet her tonight and I told her he can just come visit all week every night if she wants so they can get used to each other and I can have my Mom and my YDD's BF watch him until next week. She said he should be fine. That was my wonderful morning, sure is Monday. Is it 5 o'clock yet? LOL! |
Grammy: WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! um is DD your GS's mom or aunt?? also doesn't she have another kid as well?? I am a young mom and it took me a year before I even let my son be babysat :S I can't imagine saying don't bring him home :S green eye shadow and blue eyeliner sounds like a neat fashion statement :) all you need is my pink hair and your set :) I hope your doing better now!!!!!
Well I went crazy over easter :( I ate a load of whoppers, alphabets, 2% milk (its all my mom has), ALOT of homemade crossants, potatoes whipped with milk and butter, ham (not alot I hate ham lol), broccoli and cheese sauce, chocolate chip cookie from tim hortons.....needless to say I felt SOOO sick!!!!! I was terrified to step on the scale today....good news I didn't gain!!!!! I have been struggling alot lately. I am a bit stressed with my song choice for canadian idol. I originally picked a song by paramore (not sure if anyone knows who that is) but my family and inlaws all said it sounded like talking instead of singin (its a pop punk song) so I chose a song by evanescence my teacher said it sounded good but has no wow factor or anything different and its semi boring. He REALLY wants me to go with the other song. so now I have to decide between my teachers choice and 8 other peoples choice. I thought about trying something new but I have been working on both those songs for 2 months now I don't really want to start over 3 weeks before my audition. I am more comfortable singing paramore but I don't want them to think its too talky!!! AHHHHH!!! today is my first day back on my no bread, pasta, potatoes kick again. I also started back on my cleanse because I stopped doing it a while ago. I wanted to get back into my full exercise but I feel super sick today...tummy hurts and...umm frequent bathroom trips sorry if thats tmi :S man I am SOOO confused!!!!!!! |
