Hello all!! Hope everyone is doing ok today!! So during my lunch time I was thinking "What healthy, not expensive foods can I have for lunch?" and then I thought "Hey, let me ask the blue team what they think"...this is the problem though. I'm a picky eater...don't really like veggies. I was thinking of like whole wheat wraps and fruit, but I need more ideas. Please share ladies!!

Lil Pixie-I usually have a pita stuffed with salad veggies and chix, or a boca burger or deli turkey on those new sandwich thins, soup is always good. I also do a lot of leftovers from dinner just smaller portions. I eat a lot of salads with lunch too. I know you don't like veggies but try incorporating the ones you can stand because they do add volume to keep you fuller longer. HTH.

Good day so far. In calorie limit. 55 oz of water down, and getting ready to do 30 DS.

Wow!! My summer pales in comparison to your year. I'm slowly adjusting to an empty house. DH drives a school bus and is gone most of the day. Mom used to live with us so our household was cut in half within a month. But on the bright side, I can exercise and walk whenever I want to now.

I've never used any kind of meal replacement shake but I found throwing a banana in the blender with skim milk, any extra fruit around and a handful of nuts or bran cereal used to really fill me up for the whole morning. That may not work for you if you are counting carbs but it was filling and satisfying for me.

Hi Liz. I was my 92 year old mother's primary caretaker for 2 1/2 years. She passed away this summer. I'm wasn't working though and it was tough even then. I'm sure you'll do great getting back in shape and losing those extra 25 pounds.

Thank you so much.

Another good day under my belt. I need to eat more iron rich food as I just found out my ferritin level is low. Dr. will probably put me on supplements but I'd like to tweak my diet to include more iron rich foods. I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian so liver (((shudder))) is out. So as I'm counting calories I'm also trying to include the iron-rich foods. I'm finding out that if I want to eat healthy and lose weight I can't waste food on junk or I'll be missing out on the vitamins and minerals I need. I do take a multi-vitamin each day but I think the summer's junk food binge caught up on me--lots of calories and food but no vitamin or mineral quality.

And you can call me Isabella or retiredone.

Well, that's my story.

any variation of my screen name is fine

I want to apologize I have not been speaking up a lot on here just yet, though I have read each and every post. I am in a very stressful period of life right now with tons of emotional stuff going on. I have to admit I have been binging almost daily, but today I realized that while everything is chaotic in my life, my own behaviors are the only thing I can really control. So why give all my time and effort to things I cannot control and which are wrecking me and stressing me out?

So, I am getting it together tonight to be back on track tomorrow. I hit the store for lots of high protein foods, fresh produce, etc. It's time to take care of myself because all of this stress is going to kill me....literally! I took my blood pressure and tested my sugar today and BP was sky high and sugar was higher than usual. I have never had health problems before but it is going to start if I do not get serious here. I can feel it coming

My question is how do you get going again when there is so much stress and pressure in your life? I feel if I can get it together at this period of life I will be able to maintain no matter what comes my way!

SkinnyJeans - I'm so sorry to hear your life is chaotic at the moment, but you are right, the one thing you can control is you and what you do. Focus on that and other things may just fall into place. I do hope things calm down for you soon.

Hello all! I hope everyone had a great day! I do think I am going to up my calorie intake, but I am only allowing myself to eat certain things. I don't want to just add junk for the calories. I tried a new dinner tonight. The recipe is from publix. They were cooking it while I was shopping. I came home made it, and LOVED it. It tastes kinda like a cheesey corn chowder with chicken. Heres the recipe: (I know it sounds odd, but it works!)

Chicken Corn Casserole

Indredients: 2 1/2 cups cooked, diced chicken, 1 (11oz) can Southwestern or mexican style corn (undrained), 1 (10oz) can mild diced tomatoes and green chiles (undrained), 1/2 cup corn muffin mix, 1/4 cup light sour cream (I used Fat free), 1/4 cup light mayonnaise, 1/4 cup shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese

1. Preheat oven to 425. Coat 2-quart baking dish with cooking spray.
2. combine all ingredients (except cheese) in medium bowl. Transfer to baking dish. Bake 15 min.
3. remove from oven. Sprinkle cheese over top; bake 5 more min or until cheese melts. For best results, let stand 5 min before serving (it thickens some more).

Nutrition: Serving Size 1/4 recipe. 320 Cal, 11g fat, 55mg chol, 1330mg sodium, 32g carbs, 4g fiber, 23g protein, 10% vit A, 8% vit c, 15% calcium, 4% iron. (This is listed on the recipe card from publix)
