Good Morning all! Not alot of time this morning, I've got my first interview today! Kinda exciting! I went shopping last night for business clothes and actually was successful! Although I did notice that apparently if you wear a size 20 you are also supposed to be 10 feet tall...what is with the lengths on these clothes? And I'm a pretty average height at 5'7'' and these pants were just dragging on the floor!

I had to text Danielle mid shopping trip because I tried on these pants that said they would instantly slim me and flatten my tummy. Well...apparently mine were broken because I was neither slim nor flat!

Have a fantastic day everyone!! I'll check back in later on!

Good Morning Team!

I'm back from my vacation :(...LOL! I went a little off plan this weekend but I did alot of walking. The important thing is that I'm back on the wagon and I'm going to do my exercise video in a little while. I'm going to pick up my mothers day gift today....I'm so excited!!

Have a great day everyone!

Karen, yeah I have been staring at this book since it came out but had yet to really dive into it. I had planned on using this week of vacation time being "alone" to really dig in but alas so much came up that it wasn't until today that I actually got to do it..go figure, I go back to work tomorrow. lol I stopped at the part where he talks about looking into a mirror and writing down what you see. Not something I could do while out obviously, but I realized today that I spent over an hour & a half just on the first section and answering that first set of questions. The baggage part is huge for me, lots to work thru there and today I had major breakthru. If you want, feel free to PM me or email me, we can chat about it. :)

That's where I stopped too - the mirror part. Can't really do that at work! ;) It's probably gonna be painful so I need to allow myself plenty of time for it. Thanks for the PM offer. I may take you up on it.

It's nice to hear compliments but I'm still try to getting used to it

I got my butt whooped by Bob Jr (aka Marty) tonight. He kept telling me he is pushing me cause he knows I can do what he wants. This is definitely what I need but dang do I feel sore afterwards! Tonight we did weights, haven't done weights with him for quite some time, so I am going to be in some major upper body pain tomorrow, it's already started.

How exciting to have people notice. I had some people notice for the first time a month or so ago and it felt great. I know what you mean by thinking that it must be what I was wearing that day. Even with clothes, I think my new size 10 shorts are a fluke (even though I got 2 different pairs.....2 flukes? ;))

You are very lucky to be able to work out with Marty and Amy. You're seeing great results! Sometimes I think it would be great to have someone to work with to push me. I tend to not give 100% when it starts getting rough. I'm working on pushing myself more but it's harder when you don't have anyone standing next to you to be accountable to.

I'm still working on reading through but it sounds like maybe we want to do a challenge that focuses on the food aspect rather than the exercise...I'm all for that!! I'm struggling with all parts right now so wherever I can start! The exercise challenge was too much for me too, I cant even seem to find time for 30 minutes let alone 60+ a day, kudos to those who can but there just arent enough hours in the day lately! So I'll come up with something fun! That focuses on making good healthy choices, maybe a little journaling so we can work out some of the emotional kinks too...sound like a plan?

I am SO veggie challenged and really struggle with getting enough veggies in. I also have been struggling with water intake. A challenge focused mainly on food would be great!

As for a challenge,
I'd like a points or money thing. Maybe 1 point/dollar for every minute exercised. 10 for remaining OP, 5 for getting the water in, and bonus points for trying something new (veggies, a new exercise or whatnot) geared towards something or someplace. Like so many points/dollars and at the end you get a new Exercise equipment, Jewelry, a day @ the Spa or beauty Salon, or go to a fabulous beach...Maybe a real life reward that YOU can aim for yourself...something like that.

I like that you earn points toward a pseudo prize (or real one if you choose)! ;)

Much luck on the interview! What's the deal with clothing makers. Are they morons? All size 20 people are giants? I'm only 5'4" which is borderline. Regular clothes are 3-4 inches too long (at least) and petites are 1/2 to 1 inch too short. It's so frustrating!

Kudos to you for getting back on the wagon instead of beating yourself up for a small slip up!

I vote for the points/dollars. I think that would be a cool challenge, that can be ongoing with different focuses each week.

Good Morning All!
Been pretty busy, havent had much time to read......its been hard to get my workouts in, since my mom (regular rugrat watcher) has been so busy moving, my hubbys been working long hours again, and my close friends are out of town....Im limited to how much walking I can do, with the kids in tow, since my ankle is still on the mend. I have some videos, but it is so hard to get them done at home! Lots of distractions and interruptions I suppose.
Thanks for all the "congrats" on the weekly weight loss...and YAY to Jewelie! too! :bravo:
Tina- Thanks for the encouragement! I talked with hubby, and am feeling a little better...I do want to do it for myself(lose the weight) thats why its working this time! ;) ... Vegas sounds fun!
Hello  to everybody! Hope you are having a a good day, and  to all those having stress/rough times right now.
Ill try to catch up here before I go to help my mom with (i hope) her final day of moving....:):dizzy:

Okay food it is! Kinda a sticking to plan, getting those fruits and veggies and water in...food journaling(we can do that here in the thread if we want) I'll conjure up something for us to start on sunday! I think I will put just a little exercise (30 minutes) in there just because we NEED to be doing it! And I think most of us have abandoned the exercise challenge. And I'll go for the points plan and I was thinking maybe red bracelets???!

Jen415 05-14-2008 11:06 AM

Red bracelets! cool idea!

I just posted a question on the 100 lb club thread--would love if you all would check it out and offer some advice!

hmmm..milk here is 5.99/gallon, and gas is about 5.18 ( i think with the conversion), we buy our's at a cardlock, so we save 10 cents a litre (40 a gallon? ) my maths not the greatest!
Any challenge is good for me, Im going to continue with the badges too, but soon my gardening will be taking over my life, so I wont be doing 500 ish minutes anymore..(of on purpose exercise anyway!)
Well, better go feed the dogs, water the plants, wash the kids, have some more coffee(and my quiet time ;) , go do my errands, then help my mom move....think hubby wants me to help him pick up a lift of plywood today too...:broc:

Mid week mayhem! Isn't it funny how one break in a routine will throw you off? I had a weird day yesterday and now that I am adding up all the points and calories as a check on the day, I realized that mind-less eating adds up. :( No problems, though. I have the rest of the week to stay on plan.

mayness 05-14-2008 12:04 PM

I thought my life would get back to normal after my M.S. thesis defense last week, but it's still insane. :p I had a crazy weekend, so I'm finally getting around to making all the final changes and getting all the paperwork done.

The last two weeks I meant to weigh Monday and forgot until Wednesday... so this week I figured I'd just weigh Wednesday to be consistent... and who wants to guess what happened?!? :o Yeah... forgot... so I'll be weighing tomorrow.

*sigh*

Jen, I'm a HUGE cheapskate so my vote is going to be for trying to figure out a way to just do it at home. You've already got the equipment. You've gotta set yourself up in an environment for success. Put that treadmill right in front of the TV if you've got to. Then sit down and make a schedule, actually schedule appointments with yourself to get that workout in. You wouldnt break an appointment with anyone else so dont do it to yourself.

Oh....I agree. I started with the Couch 2 5k so that I had a goal. With the intensity switches it isn't as boring and you burn more fat. Look online for strength training ideas. Or ask someone here to do a Freaky Friday with you. You write out what you do for a workout for a week, they do the same and you swap.....each doing the others workout.

When I hit a wall.....I started at the gym for classes, but in the mean time. Look for DVD's you like, Tivo the workouts you like on Fit TV or Look at Exercise TV on Demand.

Get a calendar for your wall and place a sticker each day you exercise. If you get so many stickers (set a goal) in the month.....reward yourself.

Hello again!
Is everyone doing their plank pose (for the challenge)on their elbows, or in push-up position??

I would probably try working out at home first. I have a terrible time fitting in exercise because I work 2 jobs and just run out of time in the evenings. I started getting up 30 minutes early every day (I'm NOT a morning person) to exercise. It's nice that I already have it in first thing in the morning and if I can fit more in during the evening, that's a bonus. I absolutely could not exercise over my lunch break if I did not have access to showers. I'm a little OCD about that, I guess! ;)
