It's really a shame that eating healthy is so expensive. If I had a green thumb, I'd be planting a garden (with a couple dozen red pepper plants!), but alas, I don't. I don't have the added challenge of feeding others on a budget while trying to stay healthy. Would any of your families be up to switch to whole wheat pasta? (I don't know that I've checked prices on that in a while, though) I really feel for those of you who are eating more processed foods in order to alleviate the pocket book. (Who really says pocket book anymore? Oh well...;)) Those :censored: processed foods are where those 65 extra pounds (not so many anymore!) on my body came from!!! Ugh!

OMG! You are so lucky! There's a local grocery store that sells it for $3, but it's across town so we'd spend it in gas trying to get cheaper milk, lol! Karen, I can get my son to eat the whole wheat or grained or even the Smart pasta, but there's NO way Jess will. Okay, I gotta go do my WATP now. :) HUGS! |

Well sounds like Jess has been an :censored: this week so maybe he needs to go without! ;) |
Dropping in for a quickie. :)
Hello to all the lovely ladies of the Red team! I hope you all are off to a great start to your week, I know I am certainly trying over here. I have definitely been struggling food wise, exercise wise too now that I think about it...;) but I at least managed to maintain my weight this week. I went for my first walk in months last night, phew! I was breathing hard and I wasn't walking all that fast. Talk about being outta shape! Ack! So, after being off work for a week, I FINALLY got to spend this morning doing what I'd intended at the beginning of the week, and that was to start on my Bob book. Whoa! is all I gotta say! I had bought a notebook to take notes, jot ideas, etc as I read and lemme tell ya, I began the book, wrote, read, wrote some more, and all of a sudden I had a MAJOR epiphany regarding my failures of the past. WEll, at least a very large part. It totally blew me away that I had to actually leave the store( brought my book to Borders), and have a good cry in my car! :o I feel as if a weights been lifted off of me, I cannot describe it. This book fits me to a T and I could not be happier that I have it. I know that I was destined to connect with this. It's my turn! I'm READY! Ok, so now I gotta dash out the door but wanted to share my "moment" with ya'll and to say hello to my favorite girls. Vanetta, I am SO proud of you!!! Onederland!!!! 199whatever, you're there baby!!! :woohoo: BBL for personals. Be good to you! ♥danielle |

Except that food prices have gone up up up I don't find it any more expensive to eat healthy than I found it to eat unhealthy. Make many more things from scratch and buy better cuts of meat but buy less meat since we aren't eating so much of it. Milk prices are crazy. I wait until I find it on sale for 2 for 5 dollar and get 6 gallons of it. Put it in the fridge in the garage that I keep real cold and the stuff lasts for as long as I need it to last before we go thru it. Usually 2 gallons a week of 2% and at least a gallon of 1%. I use 1% for all the cooking and pudding pies and baking. My big thing is I hit sales. We have 6 stores in what is probably a city block ( live out in the country so who knows lol ). I drive about 1/2 an hour to get to them and then take 4 or 5 hours to shop to get all the sales and the best prices. Yes, it takes time but it saves a ton of money. Once I have all the shopping done that I can't get cheaper at Giant eagle I do the rest of my shopping at giant eagle because it is 20 cents off a gallon of gas for every 50 dollars purchased there.

i agree that eating healthy is much more expensive than eating crap.
with a gallon of gas and a gallon of milk running neck and neck i am certainly feeling the crunch over here. i am a student and i work full time and i will say that sometimes i sacrifice other things just to be able to eat so i can live!!! i was shopping at the walmart grocery store but im not supposed to support walmart given the line of work i'm in. (politics) they have awful compensation practices and discriminate against women... i could go on and on. but my pocketbook is feeling the difference now that i dont shop at walmart :( |
Ah don't hit me over the head with a hula-hoop but I'm, just not a big fan of the red-wins challenge. I'm not comfortable with all the criteria to be honest. I totally think you should do one though for those who don't like the badge challenge. I like the badge one, but you guys know I exercise a lot to begin with. :)
