What a sweet doggie!

Ok Black Team badges are up!

Keillynsmom still needs to make a post in the badge log thread before I can count add her badges in.

Just wanted to pop in to say congratulations to trooworld, and thanks to ceegee, LondonJulz, and chellez for all their hard work!

Rock on, black team! :D

ceegee 05-06-2008 02:18 PM

I suck....I am stalled out here at 143 ish and find myself being too content. I really want to get into the 130's, but yet allow myself to be happy with where I am. I am not sure if it is just being lazy, or if I just feel like this is good enough. When I find myself complaining about being at this weight, I am always justifying it with "but you have lost soooo much!" I have gone from running 4 miles a day on average to zip!! Can someone beeyotch slap me??????

ceegee 05-06-2008 02:19 PM

Congrats trooworld!!!!

Way to go black team!!

hey Julz - maybe my mil and yours could go on a vacation togther somewhere????

blueyedlvrgirl 05-06-2008 02:57 PM

Well, its raining here today, so my lunchtime walk will have to be skipped, but I am heading to the gym after work, so maybe I will do some extra cardio. Hope everyone is having a great day so far!

ETA: It dried up for a few, so I went out for 23 mins...I guess that is better than nothing! Boy, was it cold!!!

Maybe you are happy at this weight? How do you feel right now, maybe this is where you want to be at least for now? I don't think you need slapped, just maybe some time figuring out if this is where you want to be or if you need to go lower. If it's lower, than get off your butt and do it :drill:

Purplefirefly 05-06-2008 03:08 PM

thanks for your hard work with the exercise challenges Chellez and Ceegee :thanks: I know I appreciate both of them.

Hi all!

I really wish I had more time so I could catch up team chat! Hopefully, after this week I can pop in more often and get to know everyone.

Even though I'm one of the lesser known team members, I'm working hard everyday to stay on plan and get my exercise in.

I wish you all the best. Now let's get out there and kick some butt! :club:

Rock on Black Team!

Hi everyone, my last week has been really good.
Yesterday my weigh was down to 151, my first 5 pounds are gone :) Forever!!
I know that the first pounds are the most easy part, but it feels great anyway.. This weekend I went to a wedding, I was afraid of gaining alot, but instead I lost 1 pound after that :).
Today I also did my first run for many weeks, 3000 meters, just under 20 minutes, feels pretty good. Have a nice day everyone, and lets win the next weigh in :)

Cheree 05-06-2008 03:36 PM

I'm reading everyone's postings, just a few random feedbacks! I need to go read the other posts and figure out the exercise challenge and see if I can participate in that!! This is my first time, as I know it is for many, and there's a lot of elements to this BL Challenge...really well done by the organizers - great job! Thank you to our team captain too!

Halichick - Enjoy your elliptical trainer! That's one workout machine I'd love to have at home.

Glitterilicious - You have some great goals established, good luck with those this week!

orthodiva - You're right, In-N-Out really has a limited menu. If you don't like burgers, then there's not many options. My guys are fans of In-N-Out, so we end up going there at least once a month. I'm OK getting a burger with mustard on it with lettuce and no bun, although as I get further into my vegetarianism, that probably won't work anymore for me...so I'll just have to eat before or after we go (or just stay home and let it be a guys only outing). :)

LondonJulz - Thanks for being our captain! I'm originally from T-Town! Lived not far from 61st and Harvard (when I lived there 51st and Harvard was a 4 way stop). Good luck getting through all that you have to do for school this semester! BTW, you can adopt me, I'm potentially a great MIL (our oldest son has a longtime girlfriend, but they're not married yet...but she and I get along GREAT!) :)

happy2beme - Thanks for the reminder about Healthy Eating on the Beach. I'm all about eating healthy, thanks!

trooworld - Thanks for the feedback about protein. I think having it throughout the day is a very good idea (and I've heard that from other sources as well). I really, really need to build muscles, and I think protein is something that can help (besides exercising, etc.). I have heard that it can help weightloss too (I'm not sure why exactly). Sounds like you made good food choices at Carls Jr.! CONGRATS for being our team's biggest loser for week 1! :carrot:

bethbeth - I agree about the strawberries, we're really getting some great tasting ones right now. Love them! Congrats for getting into the 170s!

Ladybug2680 - Good for you for controlling your portion sizes in regards to the doughnut holes and apple fritter!

Purplefirefly - Congrats on your first badge! Great job eating the salad instead of Taco Bell with your stress about your son! I'm sorry he is being bullied. :( WOW on the 3 hours of exercise on Monday! WTG

Keillynsmom - I agree with you, weekends are really a challenge! My husband is losing weight too, and 8 pounds have just practically fallen off of him in about 3 weeks.

Terri in MO - Good luck with your great goals!! My husband and I (and our 2 sons) used to live in Springfield, MO and loved it there (then we ended up moving to Texas, then Colorado, and now California).

Tonia - The community boot camp sounds great - good luck with that!

smurf2110 - Good for you for drinking all of your water! I have been doing pretty good getting in my water, but if I wait too late in the day and drink too late at night, I have to get up a couple of times during the night, so I try to make that my motivation to get my water in earlier in the day. What kind of yoga/pilates program do you do? Do you do them on your own or do you do them with a video?

irishfairy - Awesome results you are having and you'll be in the 160's before you know it!!

ceegee - YOU CAN DO IT!!! Get your rear in gear so you'll soon be in the 130's. (That's about as close as I can get to giving you a beeyotch slap...hope it helps!!! Now, feel free to beeyotch slap me back cause I want to get into the 150's, sooner rather than later. :D)

Congrats to everyone who had losses and also to those who stayed the same or gained some...we can do it!!! GO BLACK TEAM! Kick butt in Week 2!

chiquita and purplefirefly: I think right now just may be unrealistic to do the challenge...this week I have 2 papers to do + classes, it's finals week next week and then I have a week off before I get out of town guests for my graduation. I think the challenge does motivate me to do more exercise: today, even though it is my TOM and I don't feel like doing crap because of cramps, I am going to go for a walk in a little while. Purple, I'm worried about getting frustrated/disappointed too, so I think I won't join in on the badge challenges until things settle down and I get the graduation stuff out of the way...then I will have some time to dedicate to it.

smurf: I don't know about you, but when I drink a lot of water, I am less likely to have cravings for bad things. And it keeps me full longer. Good for you for getting your water in (and having a great day)!

Thanks, everybody, for the congratulations. I'm honored, and surprised, to be the team loser of the week. I hope I haven't built your hopes up for the next weigh in: I weighed in initially on the first day, so I got some extra days in there + this week is my TOM, so who knows how that will affect the scale...usually it doesn't, but you never know! I have been working hard, though, and staying OP. Speaking of OP, this morning I wanted pizza soooo bad. There is a pizza place near my house that has $5 pizzas and they are pretty good. All I could think about was that damned pizza. But I thought of the challenge, and for lunch I made me a pita pizza with turkey pepperoni and black olives and man, was it good. It took care of my craving and there was no guilt. Now if I can just stay consistent. That's been my problem in the past, but I think I might be okay this time. Being committed to this challenge will really help with my consistency. I don't want to let you guys down.

Oh girls...I am having one of those days, I want to crawl into bed cry a bit and eat a bag of...something...my body is so out of whack this month I had 2 periods in 3 weeks my emotions are so up and down that not only am I driving my husband crazy but I am driving myself crazy too! My daily schedule is packed with things I need to do, but I can't bring myself to do any of them right now. Maybe I will go crawl into bed with a piece of gum in my mouth though and have a little nap while the kids nap...

Thanks! I LOVE my Yoga Zone DVD, it is yoga that focuses on burning the calories. I am finally up to the full 40 min. workout and it kicks my butt and I feel so good after wards. I am wanting to get some more Yoga Zone workouts as they seem to fit my preferance better than others I have tried.

I also do The New Method Pilates DVD which I like mostly, but after taking a private course in pilates I learned that I had been doing most of the moves incorrectly, and there is NO focus on breathing so now I follow the moves, but do them differently and make breathing a BIG part of the workout.

The reason I haven't been getting all my water in is so that I don't have to get up at night, perhaps I need to change my thinking more like yours :)

Good afternoon all,

I'm having another low energy day today. I'm very much looking forward to my rest week, which will start Thursday. I've decided I'll still do 30-mins a day on either the treadmill or in the pool (just to keep a little active) unless I'm doing a lot in the garden. Who knows lately with the weather. I did manage to get myself on the treadmill twice this morning and snuck in 30 mins in the pool after lunch - although I got rained on a little. Now I'm just playing catch-up and wondering if I could sneak in a nap before dinner. This is really not such a good idea as I'm not a quick nap kind of person. Probably better to stay up now and hope that I can sleep well tonight.

Love the book - just finished Stage 1 (well I have one of the special workouts to do tomorrow - and then I'm into a rest week). If you're a beginner (as I was) really do consider doing 3 workouts at each level. That means you'll do 12 workouts A and 12 workouts B. I think it helped me a lot in figuring out what weights to use, and getting my form a little better. Good luck!

I think you have to consider how you picked your goal weight. Was it somewhere you were before, or a random number. Mine was a random number from the 'how much you should weigh' charts. However, even if I settle on a higher maintenance weight I really want to hit it just so I can say I've met my goal. I think the only concern I see is that you've stopped your exercising. That's going to make maintaining very hard, even if you decide not to lose those last few pounds. I do think you should at least kick up the running a notch before you decide you're going to stop.

I made whole wheat pizza shells on the weekend and threw them into the freezer. This way I can make pizza for lunch every now and then. The pita is probably about the same calories as the shells ended up (134 cals ea) but for some reason I never feel like I'm getting real pizza with them. Of course, I'm a thin crust pizza fan, so I suppose I may find the pitas a bit thick (if you don't split them). No matter though, finding a healthier way through a craving is a great thing!

I was a little that way last week, and can't say that my energy level is back though. I had planned a rest week from lifting after my Stage 1 lifting program was done (tomorrow) but I'm actually going to back off on the rest of the exercising for the week. As much as we'd love to do everything at once, sometimes our bodies can't keep up. The two periods is a little concerning though. Dieting can throw cycles out of whack, which is never a good thing. If it continues you really should see a doctor about it.

Well, that's it for me at the moment. I do hope everyone is having a good, on plan day!
