KimL - I struggle with getting enough sleep as well. I'm sensitive to artificial sweetners so I try to not have any after 12:00 noon. I also take a Tylenol PM almost every night. It helps me fall back to sleep faster if I need to use the restroom than if I don't take one. I've heard 7 - 8 hours of sleep is what we need. I usually average 5 - 6 during the week and try to make up for what's missing on the weekends. I fee for you . . . As far as meal planning goes, when I have a busy week I'll bake up 8 or 9 chicken breasts on the weekend and hide them from my kids in the refrigerator. Saves me a little time preparing lunch & dinner. ;) Today, I got up and put frozen chicken breasts into the crock pot.

To all you peeps with a gain - I'M PROUD OF YOU THAT YOU DIDN'T QUIT!!!

To all you peeps that stayed the same or had a loss - AWESOME JOB!!!

Glitter - Hope your hand feels better soon!!

Purple - I was looking at the Black Team exercise thread and you mentioned Trampoline Walking. What is that?

I have a fitness trampoline in my living room (looks like any other little trampoline to me, but that's what it was called on the box) and I have a couple little jumping routines I like to do while watching TV...but last night my ankle was aching for some reason so I did a walking version of one of the routines, basically walking on the the trampoline. It's actually not a bad workout, have to control your legs a little more so they don't bounce as much. It was lower impact for the ankle than walking on ground. I just called it "trampoline walking" to separate it out from the actual on ground walk I did earlier in the day.

My ankle is fine today, so I'm not sure what was wrong with it. Might have twisted it a little doing my dance workout.

I have one of those mini trampolines/rebounders/whatever the new buzzword of the day is also. With your comment about controlling the legs, I'm now wondering if I should dig that out too. They say one of the advantages of the balance ball is that it's wobbly and your muscles have to work harder to stabilize yourself. Probably the same is true of the trampoline tho I never thought of it that way. I also sometimes run in place on it - definitely easier on the feet than running on hard ground.

To all students that have finals this week or the next couple of weeks: good luck! Mine are next week. I've only got two, but I've got two papers + a story revision for my fiction writing class. Then, graduation! Yay!

Cheree: It sounds like you did a great job with the In-N-Out and the pizza. As far as the protein throughout the day goes, I do try to eat protein with every meal and snack, but I do it because it is supposed to make you stay full longer, I don't know if it has any effect on your weightloss. It doesn't hurt, though.

Halichick: Wow, an elliptical? Awesome birthday present! Have fun, you lucky girl, you!

Nixmom: I've always wanted to go to Lake Havasu. It sounds like you had a fun time. Good luck with that sports bra. ;)

glitterlicious, bette and chiquita: don't worry about the gain, all of us will probably experience a gain of some kind atleast once during the challenge...you've got "x" weeks to make it up. Just stay consistent in your plan, this week will be better! :carrot:

KimL: I would aim for 6-8 hours a night. That's what I've always heard. I've also heard that not getting enough sleep can be detrimental on weightloss efforts, they say people that don't get enough sleep are more likely to make poor eating decisions throughout the rest of the day. As far as not having enough time to exercise/free time: I'd say just try to fit smaller chunks in whenever you can. Go for a 15 minute walk/jog/run/bike ride a couple of times a day. You don't have to fit it in all at once. :)

glitterlicious: ouch! I guess that is a lesson for us all.

Well, yesterday was a crappy day as far as my weightloss efforts go and I feel rotten because of it. A friend of ours stayed the night and I didn't do any exercise in the morning. Then, for lunch, we ate at Carls Jr. I tried to make a better decision, I got a chicken sandwich and small fry (which is better than I used to do, which was a western bacon cheeseburger and large fry), but that still was a lot of calories. I did schoolwork most of the rest of the day besides helping my hubby put a new computer desk together. I could have found atleast 15 minutes to do some sort of exercise but I didn't think of that until right now...I had the all or nothing mentality going on. Then, to top it off, hubby and I had a few drinks last night. I ended up being 205 calories over my daily limit. I'm not too upset over that, though, because I was under an average of 150 calories all last week. I need to vary the calorie allowance so my body doesn't get used to it. What I'm upset about is going to get fast food in the first place, and not exercising. Today will be a better day, though. I am not going to school and I am going to fit in some exercise between homework sessions.

Have a good day everyone.

Happy (ugh) Monday!
I had a wonderful weekend, I actually got to balance school work with fun, for once. Had a strawberry lemonade sparkler spiked with rum...MMM MMM MMM! Other than the trip to Chili's and the Southern Smokehouse Bacon Burger that I had, food was OP. I hardly ever exercise on weekends, so no change there. During the week I exercise a lot, so that makes up for it! I don't want to undo the breaking of the plateau I had last week, so I am sticking to my plan! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Hello Lovely Ladies!

Congrats to everyone who earned their first badge last week! Let's try to earn a bunch for our team this week too!

I am SO happy to have posted a loss for this week. I was stuck at 180 for a couple of weeks, and with my TOM I didn't think I would have a loss this week at all. But I did show a 1 pound loss, which puts me into the 170's! :dancer:

My husband brought home some fresh strawberries for me a few days ago and they are SOOO good! I feel like I'm eating candy! I am so happy that spring is here and we are getting some more good fruit in season!

Have a great week everyone!

Ladybug2680 05-05-2008 01:09 PM

I have pretty much been OP today except for the 2 doughnut holes and the small piece of apple fritter I had. I plan on walking this afternoon, but haven't decided on how long.

glitterlicious: Sorry to hear about your fall. Keep hydrated and take care of your hand.

trooworld: Try to not to be too upset about going to a fast food restaurant. You did make better choices, you could have gotten your regular and been way over. Remember each day is a new day. Just keep going.

!

:congrat: on the pound...they are always sweeter when we have to wait for them. I earned my badge, and on my way to the second one :D

I am having issues with my son in preschool, he is basically being harrassed and bullied by another little boy and it got me so worked up today that I came home and ate a salad purely out of emotions. I am proud of myself for thinking of a bowl of veggies instead of pulling through Taco Bell...which would have been my first thought before I started this journey. I have a tough, rough little guy and have not been too worried as he came home almost daily telling me the little things this boy did and said to him...I was sure Tyler was giving as much as he was getting. Then I witnessed two little events for myself of this boy purely picking on Tyler, then last week his teacher tells me "Tyler was good today, especially with Kooper literally tormenting him all day." I started to get mad about it, but then today he cried all the way home saying Kooper would not leave him alone, teasing him and kicked him. His teacher was not there today and the sub knows nothing of the issues between these boys, so I immediately ate my salad and called his teacher at home. She is going to watch it the next couple days and said she will warn Kooper for any behavior she does see, tell his mother if the warnings don't work, and if it continues there will have to be a meeting with all parents and the teacher.

This gets me so nervous because I am not a confrontational person, i am more the quiet, shy type, but I cannot allow my 4 year old to be bullied and do nothing. I was prepared to tell Tyler next time Kooper hits him, he is to hit back and defend himself...but the teacher asked me please not to, let her try and correct it first. BUT it is so hard because I don't want Tyler having this experience his first year in school. Has anyone else dealt with issues like this?

JuliaDH 05-05-2008 01:38 PM

Good for you Purple. My son is 12 and we have bully issues too. The problem is DS has verbal diahrrea which does not repel the bullies. But hopefully at jh next year it will be better with more people to make friends with than the two small classes that there are here.

Hey Black Team!

You may have noticed that the badges for your team haven't been posted...

I actually had to go through the majority of the week 1 thread after my lunch and manually add up almost everyones minutes so this took a huge chunk of time I was dedicating towards posting badges.

I have everyones mileage on my notepad, and I'll be posting them between today and tomorrow. I wish I could take the time to do them all now, but I have a business law test in an hour I need to study for.

Thanks!

Hi!

Starting slow this week -- had to go out to lunch with my boss' boss (I mostly kept to plan but over calories) and woke up late for my morning workout. Have to go the gym after work to make it up.

I'm finding that weekends are hard -- my family gets to eat and do what they want -- and I'm trying to get a workout here or there and eat on plan. And I have the interesting whammy of my dh deciding to go through this with me -- he gets on the treadmill four times for half an hour over the week and gets a little bit more reasonable with his food and he's down 7 lbs. (sigh ;) ). Anybody have any tricks for making through "unscheduled time" -- though I guess that's the answer -- make it "scheduled time".

Hey, purple, it's important to stand up now and, for him, you can do the confrontation. My eldest had a kid in her preschool that was a bully (and fairly foul mouthed, as well); I don't think they handled it well but eventually Aerin bopped him on the head with stick and he left her alone. My dh/ds/mil/fil/etc are teachers so I get an idea of how feels from both sides of the desk and most teachers will gladly work with you, particulary in cases like this. If they don't, it's important to keep moving up the food chain to get results, not only for your son, but for all the bully's other victims and curiously enough for the bully himself.

Angeline, how is that P90X workout? I thought once I lost enough weight I would try it but I can't do a pull up to save my life.

Good luck!

Barb

Good afternoon ladies! I'm sitting here trying to get the kids to sleep for nap.... http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b6...leys/dummy.gif

I was supposed to be working on my accounting homework today, but my book is in our van and the hubby took the van with him to work today....so looks like I'll have to wait until tonight to work on it.

Today is a stressful day. My mother-in-law is getting on my every last loving nerve!!!!! I know this is going to come out really rude... but, you know how people usually say "I love you right now, but I don't really like you".... well, I can honestly say I don't like OR love her.... ever! UGH! I need an "adopt a mother in law" program so I can adopt a good mother in law. I know they can't all be bad!
