Good Morning!
I'm up early stressing about my 10:30 neuroscience final today. Just this test and I'm done with school until the fall. I'm not hard pressed into doing really well on this test to pass the class since I'm doing pretty well, but I still wanna do as well I can. Then I will probably go for a jog just to take care of any remaining stress before good ol summertime :) I love being OP! :) |
glitter: Good luck on your final I am sure you will do awesome because we only allow awesome people on the black team lol
well I have a busy day today. I need to clean up my house because I have my inlaws coming for dinner. my sister is coming in a few minutes for a visit as well. I got a massage last night and it was AWESOME!!! my new camera works awesome I took it out and took some really nice pictures. I am feeling a little upset my scale isn't moving even point one and I am working out mre and harder then I ever have and staying on plan. I know muscle ways more then fat etc. but I still would love to see that scale move even a little. I want so bad to be in the 160's but at this rate I won't be there until christmas. I was at 173 almost a month ago then I gained 4lbs and lost 5lbs and now I am only one lb under where I was a month ago its very frusterating!!!!! |
Mornin'!
I did something really silly yesterday... I think that I tore my right calf muscle. It was popping when I was on my elliptical trainer yesterday and now it's so sore that I can hardly walk. Anyone else ever experience this? I'm hoping it feels better in a few days, I can't afford to not work out. :( |
Good Morning Everyone. It's another rainy day here. Good thing we mowed and did the yard work on Sunday. Course it's a never ending thing so we'll be doing it again this weekend.
This is Mother's Day weekend coming up. Anyone got any big plans? On Saturday my DD and DIL walk in the Race for the Cure in honor of my mother (she died of breast cancer in 1999) and then meet the families for brunch and then a pedicure!! I usually leave the kids to their own families on Sunday as they all have little ones and I want them to have those memories. I plan on getting my gardening done and plants/bushes in the ground and start the landscaping that I've been putting off. Anyway, just checking in. Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday. I'll be back later. |
Good morning Black team, thank you all for the well wishes/shoulder to cry on...it is raining today and for some reason that puts a smile on my face-I think because it takes some of today's pressure off my to do list just got a lot shorter and I can relax a bit more today and maybe make up for my bad mood yesterday. I am so pleased to say that dispite feeling like crap yesterday I DID NOT turn to food and my day was very much on plan. I drank my sorrows away with WATER and left the DH to feed and bed the kids last night while I went to the town meeting-kinda boring, but it was time by myself!
I weigh in later this morning I am hoping for a no gain week, I can feel the water retention in my swollen hands and hope that after downing some water with breakfast and a good yoga workout that will leave the system before weigh in time. Good luck to you all that have finals-I do not miss those! Irishfairy: what camera did you get? Halichick: where in your calf is it hurting (toward your ankle, knee or in the middle?) I have never torn mine-overworked but not torn-but I worked 9+ years in a PT clinic and saw my fair share of them. See if you can't rest and ice it today-that might help. The worst thing you can do for it is strain it more so if you must exercise do low impact exercising (yoga/pilates/swimming) and possibly focus more on the upper body/core/arms. Keep us posted on it, I hope it feels better soon! |

Halichick: Wow, 3 lbs already? Awesome! :woohoo: Terri: I am so jealous of your garden! Especially those tomatoes...I just can't get yummy tomatoes in San Diego. Maybe I will try the ones at the farmer's market...I've gotten the yellow cherry tomatoes there and they've been wonderful, but I haven't tried the red tomatoes (I did buy some green ones and made fried green tomatoes...yumm...but those are off limits for now!). LondonJulz: how cool that you get to travel for your business! That sounds like a fun business to be in. I do photography too, but only for fun. People have tried to get me to do wedding photography for them, but I was always too afraid I'd mess it up. glitterlicious: how did you do on your final? chiquita: well, we don't have any kids, but we are driving up to LA on Saturday to celebrate the day early with my mother-in-law. I hate driving in LA, so we don't go often. Sorry to hear about your mother. That's great that you are walking in the Race for the Cure, it's a nice way to honor your mother and get some exercise, too. I am so jealous of all you gardeners! Well, today, I turn in one of the two essays I have due within the next week. I didn't put a huge effort into this essay, but it will be good enough. At this point, I don't really care, I am just trying to get through to graduate. I have good enough grades to keep my spot in grad school in the fall and that's all I care about! My friend calls this "senioritis". I definitely have a bad case, I've been skipping a lot of classes, which I'm sure I will pay for on the finals. Have a good day, everyone. |
Troo and the rest of you that lost last week - AWESOME JOB!!!! Keep up the good work. I hope to be joining you all in those ranks next week.
Smurf - glad you're feeling better today. I get like that and I swear it's my hormones. Of course, I'm a bit older than you and menopause has something to do with mine!! Irishfairy - good luck at WI today. Hope the scale goes in the right direction. Hali - hope your leg gets to feeling better soon. How do you like your eliptical? DBF bought me one for Valentine's Day. I used it all the time in the winter and now when the weather isn't nice enough to get outside and just love it. 3 pounds???? Great job!! Julz - I am so jealous that you have the "eye" for photography. I love to take pictures but am not gifted so end up taking a bazillion of one thing hoping to get one good one out of the bunch. My kids are always saying "Watch out, Mom's got the camera again. This is gonna take a while." My DD is in law school and has been complaining of the finals and papers and stuff that she has to get done. I am so impresssed by anyone that can go to school and also have a busy, active life outside of that. It has to be very difficult to juggle at times. I never went to college and there are times I regret that decision. When I retire in 6 years that is one thing I am going to look into. They say you're never too old to learn. We'll see about that!! |
Smurf: It hurts right up by the back of my knee, in the fleshiest part of my calf. Is that bad?? I'm worried that I'm going to be laid up for weeks. :(

Good Morning Ladies
Well the weather cleared up long enough yesterday that I did get to go on my ride! The computer thing is so cool, its fun to see how fast you are really going! BUT today the weather is back and with a vengence! It looks darn right scary out there right now! The forecast is calling for severe thunder/lightening strong winds and hail with possible tornados! They did say that they would be "intense" but for short lived! Hope so! |
Irish--have you tried switching up your exercise and/or eating plan? Your body can get used to what you're doing and plateau for awhile. Something new can get you out of it quicker than just waiting it out.
It's noon and I'm awake...but still sleepy. I made hubby take kids to school and now he is off to pick up our son from preschool and buy two more bell pepper plants. We need to finish planting our new garden before he goes back out on the road today. He surprised me yesterday, came home with all the plants I wanted, got on the tractor and started tilling. It was a really nice evening, the kids asleep and just the two of us out there pulling out massive tree roots and planting, talking, it was nice...but boy was I hating him at 3:30 this AM. Making that garden was really hard work, and my shoulders and some of my back is sore today. Good luck :crossed: to everyone taking and getting ready for finals. |
Hey Purpplefirefly: do you live anywhere near Calabash, NC? My parents live there, they moved there when they retired. They have great seafood, unfortunately it's all fried!
|
Troo--I am not sure where Calabash is, but i am in a small town about an hour West of Charlotte. Yes, seafood is as big here as church...pretty much every corner has to have a church or fish fry, or both! I moved here from Ohio so hubby could buy his childhood home (long story) and I was shocked by all the churches. When you meet new people here they all say "so what church do you go to?" and are shocked if you aren't a member somewhere. In Ohio some went, some didn't, but it wasn't a big social thing to ask about...oh, and every town has their First Baptist and Second Baptist, then First Methodist, etc.

This is just my opinion, I am not a professional doctor (just the mom kind) You said that it was popping while you were working out (meaning multiple pops rather than one). My guess is that one of the tendons is inflammed and is rolling/popping back and forth over the other tissues back there. If you had torn the muscle it would have been one single pop and actually more of a tearing sensation and you would most likely not have been able to continue. Tendonitis if not taken care of can lead to scar tissue build up-which presents lots of other problems, so if the pain does not go away in a couple of days I would go see a dr. and request to see a PT, but try gentle calf stretches and icing 2-3 x/day. Put a paper/foam cup of water in the freezer and before you go to bed tonight massage the ice right on the sore spot for 5-7 min. or until it is good and numb-don't go too long or you can burn yourself and/or cause nerve damage. Again I would like to empasize that I am not a professional and this is my opinion/experience from working in a PT clinic. I really hope that it goes away soon and that it is only an irritated tendon! So I forgot to weigh in this morning :?: so I will weigh in tomorrow as I don't want any water weight to effect me ;) |
