I actually really like our neighborhood--we're in Lake Ridge, and it's really nice. I'd heard so mant scary things about Woodbridge, but there are some good areas, too, so I'm glad we took the time to check it out (not that we could afford to buy anything in Fairfax county at the time anyway)

I used to live in Alexandria, in Park Fairfax right across from ... oh shoot, what's that place called... the little mini-strip of restaurants and a movie theater? Shirlington! That was it. I could walk to the Pentagon It was seriously the most convenient place to live while working in DC.

Dave Ramsey - I hear a lot of good things about his books. I browse the personal finance section at Barnes and Noble pretty often, but haven't liked anything enough to actually buy it. (Besides, it feels weird buying something that is supposed to teach you to save money, you know?)

So this thing gets kicked into gear tomorrow, right?

So, I'm still thinking about this slugging thing. Is hitchhiking legal there? Do people actually get tickets for hitchhiking anyways? I suppose the action in itself in never illegal - just where you do it? I see signs occasionally...

I'm heading out of town later and will not be able to check in with my new team until late Sunday or Monday...

It seems like it's going to be a nice weekend here. In the 60's. No snow like last weekend!

Default Thank God for Toe Nails

IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH, DO NOT READ:

Oh, my chickie friends, I am in pain. I am posting just to keep from throwing up and not getting shocky. I DROPPED the wheel barrow on my toe while loading it in the truck. Lots of bleeding under the toe nail. Soaking in peroxide right now to avoid gangrenous infection. Hoping against all reality that I will NOT lose my toe nail. DS learned the MF word today. "Mommy is going to have to use some bathroom words, even though she is not in the bathroom." They were all new to him. He did not look shocked at all. The only one he even mentioned was "god" and that was from my "oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god" limp into the house. "Mom, saying 'god' that way might bother some people." Good little parrot, he is.

Of course all of this beats having my toe cut off by the front stabilizer on the darn thing.

I have not bought anything. I just podcast him and look the website. All for the very reasons you mention!

Anna- Ouch! Your DS is too funny! Maybe you could convince him you were praying to God, not cussing? Hope your toe feels better soon, but those things seem to take forever to heal.

Oh, Anna! Yikes. MF-ing ouch. Too funny about Will though! Find some comfy flip flops for awhile... You most likely will lose your toenail. All I can say is that as soon as you can tolerate it start using Tea Tree oil drops on it. (Not while anything is open and gooey.) I ripped my big toenail off about 4 years ago and am still battling with a fungus. The only thing that is finally working is to keep filing it down and putting tea tree oil on it all the time.

It's funny you should say this. Hubby and I just had this same exact discussion just a little while ago. He said that, money wise, we would not come out ahead to buy another vehicle, even with the high gas prices. It cost us $75 to fill up the tank on the truck last night....crazy stuff!

One question for those of you driving the hybrids.....how well do they handle hills? We live in a very hilly area and my mustang struggles to maintain a consistent speed on some of them.

Thanks for everyone who responded to my post yesterday about my project/obsessions. Anna - my current job is a process improvement analyst. I research how we are doing things and how we can do them better. Right now, I'm working on my Greenbelt certification for the Six Sigma program. Sounds like your interpretation of my "thinking" personality was right on track with what I'm doing now. Of course, I am bored as all heck!

Today, I found out that my mentor will be on vacation for 10 days and I have to do a couple of presentations and meetings for her while she's gone. We're talking a case of sink-or-swim learning. After that call, my stress level was through the roof! I'm thinking that I'll need more than that 1 glass of on-plan wine this evening. Looks like I may be working some OT tonight and tomorrow.

I'll check in again later.

I am NOT losing this toe nail. I am going to manifest its adhesion to my toe.

But it is good to have your back up plan.

I injured two different toe nails on my left foot....and, unfortunately, it looks like I'll lose both nails. I just wish they would hurry up and do their thing! The temps are getting hotter, but I can't bare these toes in a pair of flip flops.

Why not take a 30 minute walk and THEN see if you still need the hooch.

Rhonda--I know you will do a fantastic job for your mentor!

onthetee--I hurt my big toe several months ago..I'll skip the description b/c it was REALLY gross, the nail was loose and turned icky colors, but I never lost it. Stay confident! There is hope!!!

Ok, change in plans for exercise today. It is absolutely gorgeous outside and it is supposed to rain all weekend. So, I am going to go home and take the dogs for a nice long walk. I have been cooped up inside at work all day and want to take advantage of the nice weather while we still have it.
