Hi Squeaker, I am going to agree with Sojo and Ellis, they said it all really well - you can certainly keep him as a friend without having to see this girl. You are entitled to just say NO THANKS! Whatever would make you feel better - yes or no; I am a big believer in the gut feeling. Listen to your gut feeling and you will know what to do - take care of yourself as if you were your best friend. What would you tell a best friend to do?

Sojo, it is eerie to me how similar my experience with my college BF was to what you described. I was so deeply in love with him, hoped to marry him...and then things degenerated into a sort-of breakup, but we would meet up on pseudo-dates, and it was so excruciating and then he ended up having a brief relationship with a "friend" of mine who had been a confidante, and who then confided that he was too keen on her, could I give her some advice? [I HAD some advice but it was not very polite! ] And of course I should have just pulled back and gone on with my own life. Ironically had I done so he probably would've come running back to me. Live and learn!

Ellis is right, that girl probably has a little hidden agenda and might be a tad jealous of you.

A big hug for you! Lidian

Blessed Friday eve... one more day!

Man it's been a long week.... I appreciate all of your compliments on my attitude towards what's happening. I guess I really did learn something in my divorce - normally I wouldn't be so rational about these things - but, this time, I'm just *so* ok with it all, regardless of how it turns out... yea, it's freaky, even to me! Hey, maybe this is what it's like being a grown up!!!

Ellis - I heard about your cold weather on our news today! I can't believe we're getting rain and temps in the 50's, when it should be in the teens or 20's! Bundle up - wish you were closer, I'd send you all my crocheted blankets! Think Spring....

Squeak - I'm afraid Ellis, Sojo and Lidian have spoken all the words of wisdom. I think it's too soon to meet this girl - and I also agree that she wants to meet you to "size you up" so to say. 6 months is nuthin' when it comes to a relationship. Why put yourself through the heartache... if he was going to marry her and you knew you were going to be *stuck* with dealing with her then yes, meet her and make some sense of peace. But my God, why torture yourself needlessly? You can be his friend without having to meet or approve of every girl he decides to see. If he is a commited, caring friend, he'll understand. Rule #1 - Take care of YOU.

Well... toodles for now.

Terri

Hey girls...I've been awol. Been really busy with work and have been fighting another virus! Yuck. Third one this winter. going to see my doctor today to say...yo, what's up with this. Why am I getting every virus that comes down the pike. Of course, two I think I got from my gorgeous adorable nephew. I love that downy soft head and those big eyes and the way he snuggles...but, I might have to tell my sister that I can't babysit for him anymore...he is a little germ factory.

I've kept my new year's resolution about going to the gym...so far! I have a new trainer and she really is motivating me. I like her alot.

My weight is at 176 which is a new low point!

And I'm getting pretty buff...my biceps are beautiful. My belly is so much smaller I can't believe it. I really want to keep going with my health goals.
However today I woke up feeling really lousy...fell asleep in the kid's bed at 9:30pm or so and slept through the night...woke up feeling queasy and achey...

Well ,enough of that whining!
I'll check in tomorrow.
Love you girlies
and Squeak...I agree with Ellis and Sojo...I wouldn't want to meet the girlie at this point. Follow your gut. You don't want to see them in the same room right now and you don't have to. She may be a passing fancy. Then it would be a waste of your time and energy. If she sticks around there will be plenty of time to get to know her in the future. In the meantime do what works for you... and don't feel obligated to meet her if you don't feel like doing it this time.

Squeak...hope you don't mind me putting in my 2 cents worth...listen to these girls...they are right on the money. I spent *nine* years torturing myself with an exboyfriend who I wanted to stay friends with...and got to meet a procession of current girlfriends. Ate me up everytime. As they say, people come into your life for a reason, for a season, or for a lifetime. Friendships can be fabulous...but often they aren't meant to last forever. A year after I stopped "being friends" with exBF, I met my forever friend, who is now my DH.

Just my thoughts...

Well, I've never looked back at any relationship once it's over. Time to move on, Sweet Squeak. Remember, I'm 64 years old and know what I'm talking about - most of the time.

~~~~ just an old fartess opinion! ~~~~
Terri-You have such a great attitude!! Things will work out for the best.
Squeak-I have to agree with Ellis, Sojo, Lidian, Virginia, Soozie and Merry. That girl could be around for a few months or a lifetime. Why torture yourself over something that may not last? And if it does, there is always going to be time to meet her later. But ONLY if you want to. We are NOT trying to be know it alls, but we have been through it...I had a relationship similar to Sojo's in college too. And it took MOVING ON to get where i am now....with my best friend and the love of my life!! Take care of YOURSELF.
Soozie-WOW!! Good for you!! You are doing great with the exercise and weight loss! Sounds like life is going great for you right now aside from the viruses. One way to look at it.....you have now caught all (or most) of the viruses going around, so once you are BETTER there is nothing left to catch!!!
I've been AWOL lately too. Having a rough time, but trying to get it back together......
Hey, Den! I wondered why I didn't show as last post.
Now that I have my new PC, I can read Marmite on your avatar and don't have to guess it by the shape.
Sorry you've been having a rough time. Sending smiles and hugs your way.
Hi Soozie, sorry to hear you were sick again but congrats on the weight loss and getting all that muscle! Good for you! You have inspired me to go lift a few weights and do some pushups right now! I am not very good at sticking to the lifting, I'm afraid.
Ruth, your computer must be fabulous - I KNOW Den has a Marmite jar there but it is very blurry on my screen!
Terri, I agree with everyone - your attitude is so amazing! You are truly an inspiration.
Den, so sorry things are rough right now for you. I'm sending you a big hug too. Feel free to vent if you think it might help...we're here.
Love to you all, Lidian
Good grief! What's with all the posting the last couple of days?! Talk about rising from the dead.
I made the mistake of leaving my cocoon today. I just blew a couple of hundred bucks on paint for my new pantry plus a bunch of other stuff that I probably don't need. It sure kept me away from food though! I wonder if I'd lose weight if I got to spend a couple of hundred every day.
I was going to paint the pantry white, but I saw this great colour... Bok Choi! I'm going to buy shelves for the pantry tomorrow. And a little fold-out-from-the-wall table, and two stools for the kids to eat their breakfast on. And a picture frame for a very dirty/rude/funny print that an artist friend of mine gave me for Christmas. HEY!! That's where I'll hang it!! In the pantry!!
I can see the marmite jar, but I can't figure out what MY avatar is! Is it a fat woman holding a scale? What's with her arms? Is she also gripping a crystal ball?
Soozie, congratulations on the weight! You're doing great, hon! Listen, you haven't been taking the cider vinegar I prescribed. 1 tsp in a glass of water twice a day. Nobody believes me, but it works! (ummm, except for stomach flu)
Terri, it's a little warmer today. I think it's only -24 right now, which is 15 degrees warmer than yesterday. It's pretty balmy out. I'd LOVE to have your cozy afghans right around now.
Den, love and hugs, sweetie!
Congrats on the new computer, old fart!
For anyone interested in seeing my new print, here's the link.
It makes me giggle every time I read the caption.
My poor daughter... she said, "Thank goodness it's not red... you'd probably hang it in the living room!" She's right.
I don't know how pleased she's going to be to find it in the pantry where her breakfast table is.
