I am busy getting ready to go out of town this week. I found a dress this weekend so I have been trying to be good so it still fits on Saturday! Todays cals-1460 Exercise-60 min strength training at the Y.
master-Welcome. You can go quite the distance with your exercise. Cool.I like your avatar. Are you a big fan of fruits and vegetables? I love them. Am2-I agree on the many benefits of exercising on a regular basis. I would be a mess without it. I have had back issues for years but I can keep the pain and stiffness at bay as long as I keep up with my Y classes. I think it helps tremendously with sleep issues and keeping a healthy state of mind as well. My old medicine used to be daily doses of wine and cheezits-this is much better. I still struggle with sleep sometimes but thankfully I do not have a highly stressful job or homelife so it is all good. Marie-I consider 1650 a pretty good day and you had apple pie as well. Yum! Good for you for getting back on the bike again-both physical and proverbial. Marie-I am so glad you are doing well. |
Angela: Great exercise day. Woot! It is heating up here, too. Hope your day was good also.
Tera: I'm sure your dress will fit on Saturday with good cal counts and exercise. Yay on keeping up with the Y classes! Marie: I also think 1650 was a good day. Maryea: You are doing so well! Have a good Wednesday. Ending eating day at 1585, exercise was 30 min weights, just my general strength training. Tomorrow I will hike with some out-of-town friends and then the plan is for us to go to a Peruvian restaurant. I have researched what I will eat (1/2 Peruvian chicken with some rice). The challenge is not to sample everything, just focus on what I know i want. Woot! See ye all! :carrot: |
Thank you TERAPET!
I like whole grains, fruit, veggies and fish Hi Amarantha2~ the only exercise I enjoy is running and walking :) |
Angela, it's so cool we have a few of us that love exercising. I feel human and normal when I exercise. I've had two surgeries this year and the no exercise restrictions were horrible. I'm not nearly as easygoing when I don't exercise. I like loads of forms of exercise, though. My elliptical and I are best friends. I was given the green light by my doctor to exercise (without strong upper body workouts) on Tuesday. When I got home, I was on my elliptical pronto. Did it again on Wednesday and this morning. And every day I've been hiking with my 4 huskies. No distances like yours (I'd have blisters!). We go for 1.7 miles daily.
Am2, I'm like you on bad food eating in the morning and I don't give a darn about food in the evenings. Breaking the morning munchies is a constant problem. I must say when I look at it logically (which is difficult since I'm not overly logical), having morning munchies is way better than those afflicted with evening munchies because I can calculate my calories that I munched and make up for it over the afternoon and evening. Evening munchers lose that opportunity. Tera, here's hoping your dress fits perfectly tomorrow. I'm glad to see you're on track again! Am2 and Tera, funny you both think 1650 is a good day. In the past, I'd have thought so as well. I lost the majority of my weight at 1700 cals with exercise vigilance. Now, though, post hysterectomy, I will gain at that. And if not gain, I won't lose a gram. I really miss the 1700 cal losing diet but I do not miss the pain so the surgery was worth it. I definitely have my priorities straight there. For most of my life, I never thought food would come second to anything. No pain (and no cycles :) ) are so worth it. All week I've been nicely below 1500 cals and the scale is not budging. But it's not going up so that is good. Right now I'm on a "decade" precipice. I want to move a couple pounds below it so that second number doesn't make me want to kick my scale into the wall. This morning I did learn something when I though it had been nice to me. The scale was on the hard floor but the side was edged up to the area rug edge. The scale edge going just a bit over the plush carpet. When I couldn't remember the exact weight of the YAY weight, I re-weighed, this time with the edges not touching. Suddenly the weight was the same as yesterday. So I might have found the cause of the 1 to 1.5 pound fluctuations that irritate me to no end. So now I will never have the edges meet again. Took away my YAY weight but if the fluctuations settle to normal, that would be better. Sort of... Marie |
Good morning Marie.
Yes, I love running, walking and biking. those are the good things.... Good morning Everyone. Angela did 10 miles run/walk outside and now that I'm hydrated and fed, I would like to go for an easy one hour of elliptical. that should finish today's work out. Have a good weekend everyone!!! |
Hi, all! Just a drop by, kind of falling asleep here at 4:45 p.m. and had a lot to say with a lot of responses but just can't type right now lol.
Yesterday I got bent out of shape about something and ended up with 2400 calories, overall weekly average is okay, though, just being careful today. Exercise was a 60 minute walk and the 5 minutes of Pilates I am doing as a personal challenge every day ... lol, just 5 minutes! Woot! I have ended my streakity streak logging as of today, although will continue exercising daily, of course. No other way. I ordered a Fitbit ... the new Zip and hope it will help me move more outside of exercise sessions, have not been feeling the mojo for life that I usually have (need job lol) ... the Fitbit will be fun to play with and I will track differently, just got tired of logging the streakity! Greetings to all who posted today, sorry for lack of replies! |
OK Angela, you make me feel like a slug. 10 miles and then an elliptical workout??? Is walking/jogging your job as well? I'd have to seriously give up some sleep time to do that. But then, you're probably fast at it since you do it so often. How long does the 10 miles take? I know, I'm way too curious. But I really do like that there are 50+ yo women more obsessed than I. That just makes me happy.
Am2, I hope you start to feel better soon. I'm sorry about the blow out calories. Since your weekly avg is still good, I hope you enjoyed every morsel. So I'm editing to add, I went to read about FitBit and it seems pretty cool. Let me know what you think of it. Amazon's reviews were pretty cool. That is something I could ask Santa for... Mr. Scale sat firmly on the floor and I received the same numbers as earlier in the week. Partly sad that they won't budge but happy that I figured out the fluctuation problem. That was quite bothersome. It would mess with my mind. I'm going to weigh for a week straight and if the numbers don't fluctuate much like in the past, I'm thinking of a once a week weighing. My problem with that in the past has been with my luck the day I'd choose would always be a high day and the scale would be kicked into the wall and the worst being I'd binge because I'd show it that it can't suck the life out of me. So daily worked better. But not being a slave to it would be nice. So I'm going to see for a week (maybe two since I'm obsessive) if the scale stops the 1-2 pound fluctuations. If it does, I think once a week wouldn't mess with my mind. I always figured it was water weight but perhaps it isn't. Marie |
Marie, I didn't get my Fitbit yet, paid extra for overnight shipping, too, very disappointed. They don't seem to have even shipped it out. I'm excited about it, though. I think I got more movement in today just because I'm anticipating it'll motivate me to move more.
The only bad thing is My Net Diary, which I love for its ease of tracking on the iPhone, does not yet synch with Fitbit. I think they have announced they will, because MFP and a lot of the other modern trackers do. It is a downer that MND does not. I posted a polite inquiry on their forum lol. Good idea about evaluating the fluctuation with an eye to possibly changing your weighing frequency. I don't fluctuate much daily and only need once a week data. I used to peek now and then in the week but now I don't bother and it would mess with my mind if I were down one day and up the next. But I also am familiar with that problem of happening to be up on the official day, knowing that I really had lost some but had maybe exercised too much (hard to believe but it makes me swell sometimes) or eaten the wrong thing or too much salt or whatever. In that case, I sometimes have done a second weigh-in on Monday or Tuesday, whenever my schedule gave me time to replicate the same time slot, which I do religiously on Sunday (9 to 9:30 a.m. before brunch, which is when my weight is most stable). Angela, I am in awe also of 10 miles run/walk and then an elli workout! You are amazing! Tera & Maryea, hi!!! Ended eating day at 1590 and AGAIN had a piece of cake as still feeling down about something (not much of an excuse but it's all I've got lol). However, it was a white cake slice from the Wally bakery and had a nutrition label with calories. I always assume the calories per ounce or gram of all products to be correct and usually assume the amount of product in the package is higher than stated, so it was easy for me to get an accurate count of what was REALLY the size of a half of the two person little cake in the box, round everything up nicely and save the rest for AFTER my weigh-in tomorrow. I know it is not good to eat that highly processed cake (not good really to eat cake at all when I want to lose weight, but such is life). However, had I NOT had the rational small piece I had with a correct calorie count, I would have thought of cake all night and the things (mainly one thing) that is bothering me and I would have nibbled everything in sight all night and had a too big weigh-in tomorrow. So I ate the cake. Exercise was long walk, short jog, & 30 minutes weight, plus I kept going all day doing errands, shopping and chasing my dog around lol. |
I'm feeling fat tonight but I think it's because I drank a lot of Coke Zero, something I don't often drink. Also got Chinese take-out tonight so I might have got a lot of sodium there too and it all may affect my weight tomorrow. But I estimated my calories at only 1312 and my carbs at a little over 8. I did have too many carbs for dinner though. This diabetes thing is so tricky...not only do I have to watch how many I have for the day but even more important is how many I have in a short amount of time! But despite the occaisional slip-up I am getting better at it.:carrot: Didn't walk today because we were very busy with other things. We don't usually walk on Sun either but hopefully we will get back to it Mon. These are such busy days!
ETA: Soon we will be visiting my sister and she is a fairly newly diagnosed diabetic. I'm hoping we can help each other. |
maryea,
You are doing good. Hang in there and have a good time with your sister. I'm sure she can use your help on the "D" matter. :) |
Maryea, yea, you are so consistent and looking good there! Woot!
Hi, Angela! Well, as for me, a series of NOT SO FORTUNATE EVENTS occurred in which I gained 1.4 pounds this week lol. Not really worried or unhappy about that, did well, increased exercise, calories a little up but not by much, so t'is just a blip on the radar. Happy with my weight but working towards a goal so we'll get 'em next time! Woot! |
Marie,
10 miles running takes about 1 hour 40 minutes. I get up at 5AM sometimes 4 but I prefer 5 :) Hello ~~ Amarantha2 Have a great Day ya all!!! |
Masterptr - you are the walking/jogging guru. So do you do marathons or anything of the such? I mean, those are 10 minute miles average. Amazing work!!!
Mary, enjoy seeing your sister. Am2, Does the fitbit sync with LoseIt? I really do like that app a lot. Bummer on the gain. It'll be gone presto - I know how dedicated you are. Your piece of cake was like my mocha yesterday. I ate around wanting a second mocha until I just gave in and had it. Presto, the craving was gone and I didn't even finish the mocha. I'd only added an extra 100 cals from the munching but it was on the way to being worse. Was a slug yesterday. Nope, that was Saturday. Sunday I rode my bike for my exercise. Today just the doggie hike. Tomorrow I will elliptical before work and doggie walk after. Had a little weight loss this morning. I do like those mornings. Marie |
Hi Marie
no, I just do it by myself. I don't like to be in the crowd... :) |
775 calories and almost 7 carb serv.
I am not feeling...maybe I should have gone to the doctor...I went to get my nails done and all that sitting about killed me (back). Then since I got home I've been really busy but I think I have to stop and go to bed. I don't even feel much like eating and as you know that is very unusual for me. Usually even when I'm sick I eat. |
