855 cal and almost 11 carb serv. Probably won't eat anymore but if I do it will be no more no carb or no more than 1 carb serv. Tried a new machine at the gym...well I've done it before but not for a long time...tricep curls.

Amara - GFY on giving in to the Monday snacking!

Marie - Sounds awful...hope you can stay out of the smoke. Take care of yourself.

TERAPET 08-28-2012 08:02 AM

Good Morning Ladies,

Yesterday was another high calorie day-around 2000 but at least I managed to get in two walks around the neighborhood. I am gradually working my way back and hope to make myself go to the Y after work today. One of my problems is my sleep pattern is still messed up from my trip and I am tired all the time. Last night I only slept 6 hours so the Y class is pretty iffy.

Am2-Congrats on the weight loss. Good job getting through the Monday challenges successfully.

Ailsa-Welcome! That is some remarkable weight loss you have tallied. Normally I do cardio two times a week and strength training two times a week but I have been very lazy lately. Mostly just walking now but I am not appreciating the looks of my arms lately so I will get back to the Y soon.

Marie-I feel bad for you in the smoke with your asthma. My son had lots of problems with asthma as a child and I recall it is not a pleasant thing. Please protect yourself from that smoke, hopefully it won’t be much longer. Thank you for the suggestion about reinstating the Friday Night Club. I have been good with the alcohol calories this week so perhaps an FAC meeting is in order for the Labor Day weekend kickoff.

Maryea-Glad to hear about the new workout machine. At least someone is mindful of the state of their triceps!

Lucinda-Hope you enjoyed a lovely salad day.

lucindaarrowspark 08-28-2012 02:44 PM

I did enjoy my lovely salad day with roasted chesnuts, nutrtitive yeast and amino acids soy dressing.
so I have lost weight, what!!!!
Yes I actually lost weight. So now I feel like my hard work has paid off.

Marie 08-28-2012 04:35 PM

Am2, you have such a valid point that the hikes wouldn't be good for my pups either. I chose not to go this morning because the air quality was "Unhealthy for Specific Groups" aka me. I did my C25K workout and that was tiring. I'm glad I did it before work as the asthma is getting worse as the day goes on. :carrot:on no snacky Monday!

Mary, it's not possible to stay out of the smoke. Picture a nice heavy fog. Now switch the fog to smoke, and voila, that's our town now. It's yucky, through and through. Good job on your calories yesterday!

Tera, could the messed up sleeping patterns also be due to too much junkie foods? I hope you still get to the Y today.

Lucinda, :carrot: on the loss

My weight this morning was at Saturday's weigh in and the loads of water weight from travel and exercise seems to have eased. So that was good. I was awfully irritated at the scale yesterday when after the 2.5 hour bike ride on Saturday that I gained 1.2 pounds. I knew it was water, but it still made me kick the scale into the wall. That, though, felt good. My cals yesterday were on target and are on target so far today. Exercise is done and I so could use a nap. I actually have a headache and that's weird for me. Butt the smoke is screwing me up in many ways. Time to work some more but a nap would be better.
Marie

TERAPET 08-28-2012 09:56 PM

I went to the Y for my strength training class! Total cals today were still a bit high-1900, but not too bad. I guess it is time to work on the yummy desserts I have been eating all week. So good but big trouble calorie wise.

Marie-Take care with the smoke. Do you have any idea when things might improve?

lucinda-WooHoo on the weight loss!

AilsaPearl 08-28-2012 10:36 PM

Hey guys! Hope this week is starting off well. If not, it's only Tuesday, still time to get on track! This is the last week before September (or rather until) starts and I am ready to leap into September full speed and buckle down. I want to reach my goal! I was 152.6 tonight at the gym, down 154 from last week, so that's good!! I am so ready to be back in the 140's though! I am working on lifting more and being strong, fit, and confident rather than wanting to be "skinny" or thin.

I've been snacking almost every day on Glenny's organic soy crisps, you guys should check them out! I ordered them online, they are low in fat and 110 calories for 20 of them, they are big, and have like 9 grams of protein! They have been my lifesaver snack between meals. They also make 100 calorie brownies with 7g of fiber, I really recommend them!!!

What is you guy's favorite low cal snack? :)

Everyone have a great night!!

maryea 08-28-2012 11:13 PM

1402 and 13 carb serv dinner out and 2 1/2 cookies no exercise:-(

Amarantha2 08-29-2012 10:58 PM

Woot, all! Today 1540, exercise was a walk and then later another walk/run. Was running (figuratively) all day not doing much but seeming busy lol.

Sorry for lack of personals at moment, am literally falling asleep. Good night, all.

maryea 08-30-2012 05:47 PM

With the kids here I haven't been tracking but don't think I've eaten really badly. My weight is stable. So far today I"m OP. If I get a chance I'll report back after todays eating is done.

ETA: Marie, hows the smoke now?

Amarantha2 08-30-2012 11:27 PM

Yea, Marie, are you smoke free and doing okay?

Maryea, good job on stable weight and op. Huzzah!

I had a nice day with a true, blue friend and managed to shop, talk and eat my way through nicely, without overdoing calories. Exercise was a walk. Cals at 1620.

lucindaarrowspark 08-31-2012 08:38 AM

I had an asthma flare up yesterday b/c I do volunteer work at a non-profit cemetery and funeral chapel. There is something wrong with the dry walls I think they are hiding mold or something.
I left a committee meeting unable to catch my breath.
But I am better now. And I am staying on my healthy eating plan. I snacked on sugar-snap peas. They quelled my need for sweet and crunchy w/o adding calories.
Hurray!!!
I got an invite to a younger cousins baby shower but I can not go.
I am old school and we don't acknowledge a newborn until they arrive.

Hi Everyone,

I have always posted on the Golden Girls thread, but, for right now, I think I really need a challenge thread.

My challenge for September is NO ice cream.

Lynn

Marie 08-31-2012 09:58 PM

Lynn, welcome aboard. You've joined a great group of women! BTW, I'd fail your September challenge. I have an ice cream sundae every night. A friend that was over saw my sundae and just laughed. I use 1/2 c. ice milk (every once in a while I weigh the grams and always under-scoop), 1 T hot fudge and a tiny dollop of aerosol whip cream. 219 cals. I lost all my weight with that as my evening reward. Everyone in my family knows that I have ice cream (milk) every night. Now, I'm usually a desire bigger portions of everything but for some reason, my favorite food on earth I never want a bigger portion. Strange, huh? That said, I have had to do what you're doing to challenge yourself away from a food. Mine was cookies in the spring (I swear the hysterectomy made the cookie monster inhabit my body) and in July I had to cold turkey on cheez-its. Sometimes, the trigger food is too much to handle and you've had a bit of stress.

Am2, I hope the tiredness has subsided. Glad you got to spend time with a true friend. That is always a wonderful thing!

Ailsa, my fave low cal snack is a peach. I just love peaches. :) You are so close to the 140's. You'll make it there soon.

Tera, did you and your DH have FAC today? I thought of you.

Mary, I hope you're having a ball with your GKs.

Smoke update, on Wednesday afternoon it cleared a little bit and Thursday morning was in the Good range of air quality. By Thursday afternoon it was back in the Unhealthy for Specific Groups (me with asthma). This morning it was USP again and this afternoon Unhealthy for everyone. One my way home, I pulled over and opened the window (wasn't sure I really wanted to do that) and took a picture of what it looks like. So here it is. The hill/mountain shadow (called Bear Mountain) is about 1/4 to 1/2 mile away from where I took the picture. Usually you can see the needles on the Ponderosa Pines. BTW, right now it is a couple points below Unhealthy for everyone and just USG. Aka, its a little better than when I took the picture 3 hours ago.

So the asthma is not good. Not horrible yet. I should use the inhaler more but I crash an hour afterwards and work is hectic. So I'm trying to not use it. The headaches have subsided so that is good.

Blizzie had her cast removed today. I moved the appt up from Tuesday because she stopped eating and was so sad. She'd started licking at it. It is a good thing I did, she had an infection just starting under the cast. We didn't have it re-Xrayed because I told the vet I wouldn't have it put back on regardless. She was too miserable and if it is time to make the hard call, I can make it. I'll cry a lot but her life expectancy was only 5 years so that she's nearing 12 has been a wonderful bonus. BTW for those not in the know, Blizzie is my all white husky.

And... I'm sorry I was gone the last couple days. The smoke/asthma/work just made be exhausted. Every day I was under 1500 cals (today will end at 1402) and I exercised. So my plan is going in the direction I want. Now if the scale would too that would be a bonus.
Marie

Amarantha2 08-31-2012 11:50 PM

Hi all! Woot!

Lynn! That is a good challenge for September re the ice cream. Huzzah! You'll ace it!

Lucinda, sorry you had the asthma flare-up due to probable or something else in the walls. Glad you are better.

Marie, that is an excellent picture but a bad situation. I am familiar with wildfires and the smoke can make everyone feel terrible but for asthmatics, I can only imagine how uncomfortable this is making you.

So sorry about your Blizzie and hope you are not going to have to make that hard call just yet. Sending healing thoughts her way.

I love my pets beyond words and have made that call many times. I do not wish it on anyone, but we do what is right for them. Blessings.

Ended my eating day at 1355, exercise was a two hour hike and an hour's yoga class.

Woot to all!

Marie 09-01-2012 10:16 PM

Am2, you just rocked on your calories yesterday. 2 hour bike ride, an hour of yoga and under 1400 cals. That is EXCELLENT! Way to go.

The evil scale is being evil but I think its goal in life is to annoy me. :) Today I had 1900 cals and DH I went on a tandem bike ride. We did a hair over 18 miles, half of last weeks ride. So the cals were high but I burned plenty. We went over the mountain to where the air is in the good zone and it was wonderful to be outside and breathe. Still had to use the inhaler because the bronchial tubes are just mad but it was still great.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Marie
