Hi, Marie! When I reinstalled the free Lose It I had bought a year or so ago, it said "New" on it but was the same app. When I opened the web site, they were offering a premium version that I guess is new also. It had a lot of bells and whistles and the use of devices like Fitday is one of the premium things. You can't get it without being premium.
That said, I like to pay for web sites and apps. I don't really like free ones. That is just me lol. Also, that said, Fitbit was disappointing syncing with both Lose It! and MND! In Lose It, it showed me only the words "Fitbit Adjustment 0" with a question mark and on MND it gave me negative calories that TOOK AWAY from my budget instead of adding to it lol. I removed Fitbit from both. It works very well with its own free website, which comes with the product or you can buy a premium membership if you wish, as well as with the iPhone app. So that is how I will use it. I did read on some of the sites that it syncs well with MFP but I don't want to use that. I still love the thing and wore it all day. Feeling quite ill tonight and have to go to dentist tomorrow, so good night, all. |
1251 cal and 6 carb serv but today for lunch I had less than 2 carb serv and it took more than 4 hours to metabolize! I think it was because it was too high fat...1 T PB, 1 t smart bal and 1 string cheese. So got to watch my fat better. So tired of this backache. Have to hold my phone way up by my phone to type this as can't put my head down. Tired if this...

Hope you feel better soon, Maryea!

Sorry to not post here so much ~ too many places some days to keep up with. I do have a running list of my daily steps/walking/biking efforts on the walking to colorado springs thread.
Hope you all are doing well. Mary ~ sorry for the ongoing back pain. Hope it gets better soon. Take care all. |
Am2, I think I’ll skip the premium Lose It. I did look at their website and it’s a tad spendy for something that’s not necessary. Now the FitBit, I’m still thinking about that one.
Mary, I hope all the PT exercise start to help your back and not keep exhausting it. Gayle, don’t worry about not posting daily. Most of us have lots of distraction going on. I rode my bike on the fluid trainer this morning and had a mediocre day at work. I was running late so I called DH to take the pups out without me. I really like the daily hike but I was tired and cranky. Much better now that I’m home. My cals are about 1400 and it was a good eating day. Marie |
Marie, I ended up going back to My Net Diary, I do pay for the premium service on that as well.
One of the reason I don't like free apps/sites is I don't like ads and some of them eliminate ads in the premium. Lose It's premium is nice but I am so used to MND. I tried the Zip on Spark, which seems to have partnered with Fitbit, and it works really well on there, providing a nice interface with the Zip minutes (and calorie burn, which I always take with a grain of salt), plus put me in a Fitbit team and allowed me to enter a monthly contest. Nevertheless, I took the Zip off there as well. It is just overkill tracking it anywhere but the Fitbit site. One thing I have learned from reading is that some places (not sure where) are discounting some Fitbit devices. Maybe because they have a new one coming out very soon. I am really happy with the device but don't need to sync it all over the place. It has really improved my dedication to just walking a lot, which is what I really need to do to right now, in addition to weights. I have worn it during weight workouts and it registers nothing extra so I take it off then. Had a good eating day in the 1500s, exercise was walking and weights. Gayle, it is always nice to see you, so happy you are posting here when you can. No one really posts daily on this thread, I think. Always a lot to do. Woot! I am mentally in November, skipping any ideas about Halloween candy eating lol. |
Hi all, busy day! OK frustrating day dealing with cell phones and porting my number from ATT to Verizon and now neither of my iPhones work. DH's and mine got stuck mid port and they can't fix it as off 7 hours later. I have given up for the night. I plan to bring the two new ones back to Verizon in the morning, give it to the sales guy and say fix and call me at my office when they're done because I'm irritated. 7 hours of cell phone he!! - I think that's enough. Surprisingly it didn't drive me to eat. I will finish the day at 1450 cals. BTW, fun size almon joys are HIGH in cals. That'll teach me for eating two. :)

Cell phones are frustrating things to deal with sometimes, hope it all gets fixed tomorrow, Marie.
I got sidetracked with some issues today and was at the vet office (doggie is fine, was just there for routine stuff) and they had fun size candy set out from Halloween and I got stressed and ate two little Kit Kats and six Whoppers, yea, was a lot of calories for a few bites. Finished day at 1805. Exercise was weights and a lot of walking ... did get my 10,000+ steps in. Have really increased walking since getting the Fitbit. Have a good day, all! |
Am2, I totally get the Halloween candy mocking one's good intentions from places you don't expect it. There was some at work and it got me on Thursday. Yesterday I walked by and grabbed 2 mini Heath bars. I hope the stuff just goes away. So there was 148 calories. Luckily I was low everywhere else and ended at 1286 cals. Also walked 1.7 miles and did a really good elliptical workout. I lost a little this week - 0.2 pounds. I'll take it even though I'd like to have the 5 pounds a week like scam artist blare. :)
This morning I had a really good elliptical workout - even better than yesterday. I really like when my body just does it without wanting to pass out. Cell phone issue still continue. The iPhone 5 won't accept my ported numbers and no one (Verizon or Apple) knows how to fix it. Apple says to take it to an Apple store. Yeah, that's only 300 miles away. The Verizon guy is still trying and if this morning he doesn't succeed, I told him to try to get the temporary numbers to work (but it's probably beyond that at this point) and DH and I will just change phone numbers. Blah. ;) Marie |
Sadly, Halloween candy never goes away, it just morphs into Christmas candy and then Easter candy, etc. lol.
Sorry 'bout the cell phone mixup. I also find the Verizon guys sometimes say take it to an Apple store, of which there is only one in my area and that is a long drive in messy traffic, which is probably why I haven't bought the iPhone 5 yet. Maybe January, not sure. Ended eating day at a low for me 1260, walked the 10,000 steps, and am just waiting to see if the scale is kind tomorrow or a pain. A maintain would also be okay! Woot! |
Morning Am2! My iPhone 5 is working - with my ported numbers. YAY!!!! The guy worked on it Friday night and Saturday morning. I bought him a Starbucks gift card for thanks to all his effort on it. Apparently Apple ships the iPhone 5 with a microSIM that is pre-coded to the temporary number that is given when you order it. So it is a common problem. And Apple didn't supply extra microSIM cards for this problem.Maybe by January when you're looking at it, that problem will be gone. And here's hoping the scale was nice this morning. I forgot to weigh. DH has guard weekend and I got up to say Adieu and got a drink before I remembered.
Yesterday was a good calorie and exercise day. Today I'll walk my 4 huskies by myself so DH doesn't have to join me. He has tomorrow off and he'll walk them tomorrow. That gives us each a one day break this week. :D And today I am going to start a very short strength workout. I need to strengthen my back before I can do much upper body or I end up in physical therapy. So I'm going to begin the process to strengthen my upper back. And I'll had some leg strengthening just because ski season is on the horizon. Marie |
Hi Challangers-
I've missed you. I haven't been posting here for a number of reasons. 1. I had shoulder surgery and wasn't exercising so I felt I couldn't post here. 2. I've been excruciatingly busy with stuff that is not fun. DM got pneumonia about 3 days after my surgery, also deteriorated mentally, was in nursing care. DF's dementia was even more evident without her directing him. Had to be at their retirement community constantly. Finally, just got them moved into "assisted living with Memory Help" which was complicated on so many levels but I think is going to work. Fingers crossed. And prayers. 3. Oldest DS bought a new townhouse, is VERY serious with his girlfriend and he is getting sucked into her family. He's barely 27. She's a year older. Tick, tick, tick. So... 4. I'M HAVING A NERVOUS BREAK DOWN!!! I had planned to have one shortly after my shoulder surgery. I was going to stay in my little sanctuary bedroom in my basement and get back on my low carb diet and lose the 18 lbs I had accumulated. It's very hard for me to kick the evil carbs. I didn't want to be around humans in my house that were eating them. It didn't work cuz I think DH gets subconsciously hostile. So early the first morning in my sanctuary I was awakened by a lot of yelling. My DF was uncooperative with the additional help we put in place and DH was trying to get him to cooperate, etc. So I couldn't have my preplanned, vacation like, nervous break down so I could "detox" from the carbs. I was consumed by a very busy, frustrating life that required, um, alcohol and sometimes the hard stuff, yes, CHOCOLATE, at the end of the day. So, I was on the verge of a real nervous break down. Now, I'm just depressed. And we are going on a short trip to Savanna,GA with DH's retirement group a week from tomorrow and all the wives my age are thin so I want to be thin and I'm not. But... I'm going to the health club today for the first time since before my surgery. I will just do the recumbant bike. This shoulder, my right, does not seem to be healing as quickly as the left one did. I think the bone spur was bigger and more shredding. I'm still getting physical therapy and still have to take some pain meds. I REALLY need support for the exercise. My mind has been whirling so bad I haven't been able focus on books. But maybe on the bike. Sorry about the whining. I know those of you that read Golden Girls have to be tired of me. I have to go back and read the posts. I know what's up with Gayle, Mary. But Amar and Marie- how the heck are you?! Busy I think. And I have to get to know everyone. Wish me luck! |
Marie, thanks for the info on the iPhone 5, I'll be sure to ask them about that when/if I upgrade. Glad you got it fixed.
Good job on the calories and exercise plans. Deelee: Wow, you've had a lot on your plate to deal with. Glad you are back here with us, sorry I don't visit the Golden Girls as much as I should so didn't know all that was going on with you. Lol, I don't think you are whining at all, just sharing. Great plans on focusing on the exercise bike. That is sure to help a lot. I lost a pound on my weigh-in and am very happy. It is mostly due to my new step counting program, which is pushing me to get more steps in all day long, not just during my official exercise periods. Having fun with it. Have a happy day, all! |
Thanks AM2. Congrats on the weight loss!
My plan today is to go to the health club - and do at least 20 minutes on the bike. If I can't get lost in a book it is tedious, especially on Sunday. Then go to Whole Foods and get some veggies. Those are not the "evil carbs" that I'm addicted to. Hi Bricom! Marie - I love your plan! I had vowed I would never get more than 10 lbs up and her I am 16 and1/2! I wish I could have come here before. You are all inspirational. Gayle - good for you hanging in here! We know that baby steps, small increments of minutes are better than no minutes. Mary - as another person with bs issues (now you know I mean blood sugar and not the other bs!) I feel your pain. And worst for me is the night time evil carb crave. Today, after HC I'm going to Whole Foods and buying organic celery which I will bring home and clean. I will try to substitute that for the evil carbs. When I pay the extra money for whole Foods organic I psychologically feel like I'm doing something specially for myself and don't want to waste it. I had to do what I had to do. Now, I am going to put myself as a priority. Tuesday, DH and I are election judges which means we will be at the voting site from 5:15a.m. until close and clean up. Hope to be home by 8. I signed up for this way before my DPs fell completely apart. I was looking for something meaningful to add to my life to get over this empty nest. It did help, feels important and we are getting paid! I'm psyched to spend my energy exercising now though. When did that stop? Oh yeah, the darn rotator cuff surgery. I think I'll pull out my own recumb bike, replace the batteries in the counter. It doesn't measure everything as well as the ones at HC but even if I just go on it for 10 minutes on days when I can't get to HC I'll still be getting into the mental groove. And if I can start eating celery instead of tortilla chips, I might actually burn that off. You all have me psyched. Thanks! Have a good day! |
Deelee, I'm so glad you are back. I am so sorry for all the crises in your life lately. I do want to say, don't ever leave just because you didn't think you could post here if you aren't following the plan you wish for. We're here for support and can't give it if you believe you have to be "on plan". I'm so happy for you that you're getting your energy spent the way you want now. Your idea of setting up your recumbant bike for little spurts of exercise is fabulous. Also, thank you for being an election judge. No matter what one's politics, we need those like you take the time from their lives to make the process work.
Am2, :carrot: on the pound loss. Sounds like the FitBit helped another pound. You're just on a roll with those pounds flying off your body. Monday was a high calorie day (intended) at 1700 cals. Tuesday 1500 and yesterday 1575. I need to work a bit harder at staying below 1500 cals or my scale will continue to be stuck. Exercise has been great and I feel nearly 100% 5 weeks post surgery. That is quite nice. DH and I looking at CraigsList for a use Bowflex to start getting better strength training into our lives. I emailed about two of them yesterday but no one responded. :( Marie |
