Freda - I'm still doing my stretches. They're a lifeline to a pain free living! I cannot believe how much they've helped... and how easy they are... and why no stinkin' doctor ever suggested them? I'm seriously contemplating an actual yoga routine for the NY resolutions list...
Bobbi - I'm glad you're happy with Firefox!
Darcy - two things struck me about Noah: 1) how long his little fingernails are already; and 2) how mature he looks, even at that tiny age. He is precious! Good, good, good thoughts for him and his mama!
CarolSue - you are NOT going to screw anything up if you download Firefox. It's just another program! From reading all the people who repeated everything I'd already said, you can believe them and feel secure with it.
Today is a day off (screwy week), and I have domestic drudgery to do. I started back on my own JourneyToSvelteness on Monday, doing well. One day at a time, REALLY. It felt good to be back to work (OMG, I'm now completely brainwashed!). I do like those people!
Have a good one! Do you think we'll get 80 more responses to make it up to 500 for this month? Somehow, that seems important to me! Do I need a life?
It is a cold, dreary, and windy day here in Montana. I think we have a storm heading our way. I still hope for snow. I overslept this morning and couldn’t work out but I think I needed the rest. I didn’t sleep more than a couple hours the night before. It was a good feeling to be “pleasantly exhausted” after my trip. Know that feeling?
It sounds like some of us need accountability in the new year. I have enjoyed Marie’s holiday challenge. Maybe we could have a new thread where we just report every day on what we have decided is our goals…. I want to track calories, carbs, water and exercise. We could keep our “chatting” here on the main thread… Whatever anyone wants to do.
Trish Happy Birthday! I will wait to hear what you do and how you celebrate. Confessions wise…. My weight took an unexplained rise and has stayed there for a longggggg stall. I need to really kick my own but. Some days I even think that maybe I imagined that low weight back in September…
Karenfl, yes, you know how we worry. Hope you can get on here easier soon. I miss your humor.
Bobbi, of course, Charlie is so handsome and clearly a good sport! Sorry about the eye problems. “it’s a common problem” is such a frustrating answer. I always want to know more…. Bobbi, we caught brown trout yesterday.. mostly large pan fry size but a couple big ones. I fly fish and spin cast. Yesterday they weren’t hitting on flies so I caught these on lures. I’m not a purist – I want to catch fish! I LOVE to eat trout – so do my folks. I coat them, flash brown them in the pan and then finish in the oven… Yum!
Gayle, what a gloriously beautiful family. Yes, the little ones take lots of energy. I am always surprised by that.
Isabella, after forgetting my toothbrush, or comb, or whatever, I finally got myself a “dop kit” that lives in my suitcase…. Enjoy your trip
Carol Sue, use enough pain meds to allow you to move around and rest well. Adding Tylenol or another over the counter is also good. Remember, this was major surgery.
Mary, hows your back? I forgot, did you go to the dr or just get a prescription?
Freda, it sounds like BIL had a nice and meaningful service. Knowing you, that weight will drop off quickly.
Zoe, 4 months and counting! Yay!
Lynn, yup, will be joining you again in working out and racking up points. I have still been logging a little but want to get points ever day again. Thanks for being an inspiration.
Darcy, Noah is a blessing and so beautiful. What a wild ride and scary. I have a feeling that the little guy will have a very special place in the family because of the crazy beginning. Hopefully mom is ok, now.
Donna, are you back to work? Waz up girl? I was soooo excited to see that Dog the Bounty hunter is coming back next month. Silly, I know but so much fun!
One more question, what kinds of Kindles do you all have. I'm thinking maybe I'll break down and get one. Do the screens light up? I see they start @ $79.00 on Amazon. What features do I need?
Donna...describe your stretches, you probably did before but I wasn't interested in doing them before. NOW I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING, and I hate exercising.
I put Firefox on my puter this morning and I am so mad at myself for not doing it sooner!! Trish and CarolSue--- it is very easy to do-- just click to have it download and that's about it. I didn't make it my default browser and that is the only thing that I had to click on.. So easy to use!! And since it is a program if you don't like it you can always remove it... very easy to do also. But it is so nice to be able to come here and really enjoy the posts!
Now I need to run and get my haircut! It is driving me crazy(er) and then we are taking my Aunt out to dinner tonight-- It would have been hers and my Uncles 66th anniversary. He has been gone about 10 years and we always try to do something special for her if she is here, Sometimes she is in Colorado with her kids and they take her out to a special dinner.
Have a good day and those of you that haven't downloaded Firefox yet--you really need to. It will make you do the happy dance!!!
Darcy, I am beyond impressed that you read the entire thread. That would take some time. I love the fireworks at Disneyland. I went to a conference a year ago and my Disney hotel room overlooked the park. I sat on the balcony and watched the beautiful display. Noah is beautiful. When you said the weeks of gestation, it reminded me of a friend. Her baby was born at 25 weeks and she was warned over and over of all the developmental and horrible things that could happen should the baby girl survive. I’m pleased to tell you that the young lady is a very normal 8th grader causing her mom the same early teen problems as any girl. Noah is a fighter and that’s awesome.
Mary, I hope you feel better soon. Call your doctor. I know you care about the eating so be strong and no more mindless eating. Your challenge partner says so.
Chickadee, your thumb has made major progress and doing all the PT will be worth it to get the max motion. That is not a place to scrimp. Bite the bullet and do the entire therapy process.
Freda, when I woke up this morning to my normal house, it was so calming. It’s worth doing. I also feel like crap when I eat crap so I know how eating clean is making you feel better.
Carol Sue, I think what I’d do in your case is to mention to your dr. your fears of addiction and get your dr’s opinion. I wouldn’t think you’re near addiction but having the prescribing dr know your concern makes the most sense.
Trish, HAPPY Birthday!!!! It is a great birthday day. My beloved Teddy Bear (now at the rainbow bridge) and Blizzard Bear were both born on Dec 28th. We’re celebrating Blizzie’s birthday with the last slice of red velvet cake (split between all four dogs). When I sing her happy birthday, I will add your name to the song as well.
Isabella, go without your DH to your DIL’s get together. If he’s being a horse’s patoot, then he can stay home by himself. When I read your post of Christmas lasting till Jan 6th, my first thought was, OMG the amount of weight I could gain.
Gayle, sounds like Corbin was a wise child to keep you moving. I hope your day at work goes well.
Lynn, please remember you were mighty sick between Thanksgiving and Christmas. That 4 pounds will come off now that you’re recovered.
Bobbi, no tumors aren’t any more common in huskies than other breeds. Blizzie is elderly as she reached 11 years old today. She’s doing great post surgery. BTW, Blizzie is my loud howler. Maybe she and Charlie are chatting with each other cross country.
KarenFL, glad you checked in. You wouldn’t want to scare us GGs again, now would you?!?!?
Donna, a full yoga routine??? I’m impressed. You are right on the stretch. My right hip isn’t in nearly as much pain. It’s there, like a 1 out 10 on a scale, but mostly easily ignored. Slowly I started adding several other yoga stretches to my routine. You know, since I was already on the floor…
Rie, I like the challenge thread for eating goals too. I like the “sittin’ round the table” conversation here.
KarenMO, enjoy the haircut and dinner out. I LOVE having my hair washed by a pro. There’s not much else that competes with that utopia. Of course you can use your imagination what might equal or surpass it.
DH asked me what I was going to do on my vacation day now that everyone has left. My response “nothing”. I want to do the “Donna Gork”. So here I am gorking. Already exercised and took the pups out. I’m guessing I will fail gorking 101 as I’m starting to think of stained glass. My niece had a baby girl on Christmas so I think I’ll make a present. We’ll see. Gorking is good.
Marie
We could just post our goals, menu, exercise at the top of our post here. I think Zoe was doing that for awhile and I enjoyed reading her menu. I think that's what I'll do for now, post my calories/fiber and weight on daily post. Then I won't have to go else where unless someone comes up with a better plan.
Had a hard time sleeping last night but it wasn't the pain. The pain is still there but it is getting better, just gets worse at times and then better again. I don't want to go to the doctor as long as I can tell it is getting better, so am still holding off.
Rie, I didn't go in, just got a prescription for a muscle relaxant. I'm using it much less now but at times still need it. Nothing takes the pain away entirely..or at least not for very long...but the medication does help. On your "drop kit" I used to have a "condo box" that I would keep the basic travel things for going to our timeshares. The kids were home then so there were more things to remember, but I still should probably do that. If we ever can travel again, I think I will as we will now be traveling by car and using our timeshares more.
Rie/Bobbi - I don't seem to do well with challenges. Once I feel I have to report it seems like I eat worse not better.
My scale is acting wierd...I can get four different readings some days. I do it until I get two alike. :-) They are within 2-3 lbs usually and these days I'm thinking as long as it's within 5 lbs does it really make that much difference. Its the trend I'm looking for and my weight will shift throughout the day at least 5 lbs anyway. But suffice it to say it's definitely up and I hope I can get under control soon. My bs was surprisingly good yesterday but I probably just caught it at the right time. ;-) Anyway, today's a new day and I'm trying.
Bobbi - My Kindle is the one that's now $79 I think and I like it. It's just the basic reader. Don't think I'll upgrade until I can get an iPad. I only use my Kindle when traveling, waiting in a doctor's office etc, and while on stationery bike and treadmill at gym. I have a huge number of hardcopy books to read as well. There are sweepstakes sites all over the web. I really like sweepstakesadvantage.com but it's just one I use. But be prepared for lots of email. Some people set up a separate email just for sweeps, but I don't. I just use gmail. I don't get a lot of personal email. Mostly my kids prefer text anymore.
Well dh is home from the gym and my neck is starting to hurt so think I'd better get off the computer for a while.
Well, no haircut for me today! I went to 3 different places and no one can get me in until after 3:00 and we need to be at my Aunts about 3:00....so guess it will be another day! Darn It! Now I have to figure out what I'm going to do with this MOP!!
Hey Bobbi I have the orginal Kindle and DH has the $79 one only diff is that I have marvie (blah)pictures of old writers and his has ads. Neither are lite...with$79 you have get the jack cord and whole thing is like $99. I use mine alot. Dh too. Many many freebies......k3
Thanks KarenFla...so I shouldn't get the $79.99? Just one that has everything included? I need the jack cord and what else? Do any of them light up? Are they hard to read? Do you have to be under a good light?
All worked out well today. Just as DS and DIL were leaving for her family gathering DH announces that he'd go. I ate more chocolate tonight then I have in months. DIL's family are big candy eaters. But it was good chocolate and what a difference that is in taste.
Bobbi, I have the two browsers for different things. My main browser is Firefox and I use it for almost everything. I use IE for an online bank account that won't work in Firefox. I only run two of them together when I check on my account. I'm finished babysitting. DIL finished her teaching degree and they have a paid babysitter. DIL is getting loads of work doing substitue teaching. We're just visiting for a few days before DH goes back to work following the Christmas break.
Happy Birthday Trish. Hope you had a good one.
Rie, that's a good idea. I should keep a few things in the suitcase. I actually had a large ziplock bag with some toiletries in it right beside the sink so I could put in the toothbrush as soon as I brushed my teeth. But instead of putting the toothbrush in the bag I put it back in the holder and zipped the bag closed without said toothbrush. (That's what I think I did. I'll see where the brush is when I get home, lol.)
I think I do need a challenge to get back in the game. I can get very competitive with myself.

Happy Birthday Trish. Is it today, the 28th? DH is 69 today.
My problem with the pain med is that I don't think I have bad enough pain to take it, I just feel so darn GOOD when I do!!
