Wow, didn't think it was possible, but I managed to read all 26 pages of December GG posts yesterday -- obviously left no time to post last night, but I'm back again today. Even went for a walk yesterday (had to rest my eyes LOL), which felt good again. :-)
CK – Congratulations on the news of the houses – I hope things continue to mesh in terms of approvals, inspections, etc. and that you get the outcome you’re hoping for! Can you let me know how to get added to the FB page that is set up (I believe you're in charge of that?)? I feel like I'm missing out on a lot not seeing all the photos being posted there. Thanks! :-)
Freda, I'm so sorry for your family's loss. That was such a touching story with his dog - I wish you all peace in moving forward. It's never easy!
Nancy, what a shock to get the news that you did. I am so sorry! I hope you managed to still enjoy the holidays with family, and I wish you peace of heart and mind as you make the decisions and begin your journey forward.
K3 – I am sorry for the news of your friend and the daughters who lost their mom so close to Christmas. You’re right, it IS hard. My mom died on December 15th (just 16 short days after my dad died) and it took a few years before I could even begin to think of Christmas or get in the mood to decorate until after the 15th each year (not even sure I would have, if I hadn’t had small children at the time who needed Christmas decorations and some normalcy). On a happier note, congratulations on how well the bridge tournaments are going for you, and especially your personal recovery. You’ve come a long way since your surgery!
Maryea – Congrats on selling the RV and on the offer for the house as well! I am hoping everything works out for you ASAP so you and Joe can breathe a little easier and start making plans rather than being in limbo as you have been. I know you can lose what you regained, too, and learn healthy, good habits along the way that you can maintain. I can see where the excitement comes in with MF and seeing weight drop consistently, and having fewer choices can make it easier, but as you’re seeing – it is what you can live with long-term that’s going to matter.
Marie – So glad to hear that Blizzie came through surgery well and that the tumor was one of the “good” ones. Sounds like she’s well on her way to a full recovery, which is wonderful news. I LOVED the Christmas pictures, your stained glass in the background, and the hummingbird gifts you made. You are so talented, and your work is beautiful! I know each person you give one to will love it. Gifts from the heart are my favorite. Loved your answer on the questionnaire about your dream job. I had tried to bring a reading program to our school, staffed with volunteers -- and for years I’ve said that volunteer jobs are always so much better and more rewarding than what we get paid to do! And Sasha’s turkey story? What a classic!
Carol Sue – So glad your surgery is behind you and you got the result you were hoping for! Your issues with fluid retention brought back memories of August 2010 when I had emergency gallbladder surgery – had lost 4 lbs in the 3 days before I went to the ER, and then was admitted and started on fluids and IV antibiotics. The morning I went to the ER, my bladder pretty much stopped functioning but no one was really aware until after surgery. Catheters, etc. to try to reverse the issue finally resolved it, but I came home a couple days after surgery and got on the scale expecting to see a loss after not eating much, etc. only to see an 18-POUND GAIN in 4 days!! All that pain for a gain?!?!? I was stunned. Took me about a week to lose it all. With my bladder not working and round the clock fluids pumped in at 150 mL/hour for a few days, it all just backed up in every space possible in my body. Crazy what our bodies do. Here’s hoping that 2012 brings great things your way!
Chickadee – your crafts and projects are wonderful. Love the snowman – so cheery! The snowflakes are beautiful! I have the supplies to crochet some and never remember in time – maybe this year will be the one where I start early enough to finish before Christmas and send them with cards.
Rosey – so talented with your projects and they all look so homey and inviting! Love the new pic of you, too. You have such a beautiful smile and the picture really shows your weight loss. You look so happy!
Gayle – Evie is adorable! How did you like Cirque du Soleil? I’ve been to a couple out here and they are always so unique and so good. I hope you had a similar experience!
There was probably more I meant to reply to, but this has gotten way too long (not that that’s new for me

) so I am going to close this and send. Will tell you about our family’s little baby separately! And thanks to all of you for the clothing misadventures shared – made for some great laughs last night. What wonderful stories!
Hi to everyone I didn’t get to – for those of you with the white stuff, stay warm – for those without who want it, hope you get your wish – and for those without it and want to stay that way – may you rise to face a day much like today!
