I had an OK day yesterday, but ate a little too much leftover ham last night so water retention is up (LOVE ham, but its salty). I did walk for an hour, so I'll ignore the scale this morning.
I find I do better when I plan my evenings, so tonight I'll either go to an exercise class at the rec center or plant grass seed where our trampoline used to be in the yard. Then I have to pay bills online. Whoopee, what a life!
Last night I stayed up kind of late working on Web sites, but I got a lot done. I'm learning how to administer Wordpress now through a book I ordered. Friday and Saturday I'll be with DBF and we're going fishing on Sat. if it doesn't rain. This will be a first for us!
Good Morning All,
Andi, I too am dealing with water retention. It makes you feel so puffy.
I am thinking about joining Planet Fitness. Someone told me that you can join for $10 a month and if you want a fitness coach, its $20 a month. Wow!
It need something to get me back on track. It may be worth the money and effort. You are doing great with your routine and I am envious. Have a great day.

so pitful. I could just scream for being such a slacker. It is so past time for me to get it right. I want to know what it feels like to say"I am at my goal".
Izzy, I hate to hear your get so down on yourself. Sometimes when you do that, it gets you depressed and then you eat more. You look at that goal and it just seems to be impossible to ever reach it. Maybe you should change your goal to a short term goal. Wouldn't it make you happy to be 5 lbs less than you are now? So make that your goal weight. Then after you reach that goal, set another 5 lbs.
Right now I am up 11 lbs from my lowest weight. I had a dr appointment today and he gave me a pep talk about exercise. I go back to see him in 2 months, so I have given myself a goal of getting into the 170's by that time. It is doable, but when I said I was going to do it my DH laughed out loud. That made me mad. He said he was laughing at something else, but I know he wasn't. I think maybe that laugh made me mad enough that I'm determined to show him...then I'll make him pay!! LOL
About joining a fitness club: for a long time I thought if only I "belonged" to a club I would exercise and lose the weight, but I have belonged to several clubs in the past and just watched my money fly away every month. The one thing I use (occasionally) at the local rec center I belong to is their fitness classes, which are plentiful and available at convenient times for me, but still that's usually only once a week. Most good exercises are do-able at home or outside, such as walking, sit-ups, planks, push-ups, dumbbells for arm toning, inner and outer thigh exercises and the like. Cardio such as brisk walking is still best for burning fat, which I have a lot of.
I was excited to see I've dropped another 2 pounds this morning! (very unusual for me). I'm using the compounded hormone cremes, taking fiber capsules and drinking lots of green tea - maybe it's the combination, but I like it!
Weekends are harder as I don't pack my breakfast and lunch like at work, but I hope to make wise choices and at least not gain any back.

Andi, for me, exercising at home is better. A lot of people have a problem sticking with their exercise program if they don't go to a fitness club. I am uncomfortable there. At home, I can wear what I want, I don't have to wait for someone else to finish with a machine, I don't feel rushed because someone else is waiting, I don't have to worry about someone else leaving the machine all sweaty, I can have my TV set to the channel of my choice, or choose the music I want to listen to, and best of all, in the time that it would take me to get to and from a fitness club, I'm halfway through my workout. Even without the equipment I have bought over the years, you can get into your fitness zone just by walking, or the other exercises you mentioned. There's really no good excuse for not exercising, unless a person has a medical problem that really doesn't allow it.
Good Morning All,
Andi congrats another 2 pounds gone for good. Way to go!
I do agree with you both about joining the fitness club, I belonged for 10 years and workout 5 days a week. Then when I gave it up, I work out at home. Then little by little, I have found reasons not to. The thing is, some people do better with that fitness club enviroment. Me, I just don't kinow what the devil has happened. I just can't seem to get back on track. I put everything and every body before myself. I work, I pick up my grand children 1 or 2 evenings a week. I teach a nail tech class 2 to 3 mornings a week from 10 to 2; then I have my regular customers plus I do nails at a retirement facility on Tuesdays from 9am to 3pm. Ok, thats enough excuses for now.I am tired just thinking about it. I need & will carve out a lttle time for me soon. You ladies have a great day.
Weight loss really is not a complex task – you really do just need to eat less and exercise more. The real challenge is overcoming the mind to control your appetite and combat lethargy.(MHClub)
Regular exercise makes this easier for four main reasons:
1.It increases the amount of calories you burn while you are exercising
2.It increases your metabolism as your body builds new muscle tissue
3.It helps to manage appetite by releasing hormones that suppress hunger
4.It helps to use up glycogen reserves which triggers the fat burning hormone called glucagon.
So if you cannot exercise you are missing out on a huge advantage when it comes to weight loss. However, it is still possible to lose weight.

I read this and wanted to share it, good read & good common sense approach. Its Final! I just need to DO IT.
I made a big pot of bean soup yesterday so I could take portions into work for lunch with my salads. Had a bowl last night for dinner (actually that was all I had) and my weight was up half a pound this morning, probably due to the salt in the chicken broth and the diced tomatoes. I thought I had bought the lower sodium cans but I guess not and it really makes a difference. <sigh>
Izzy I agree on the importance of exercise, especially in the process of burning fat, which pear-shaped women like me need especially. I've been spending my lunch time (1/2 hour) on the treadmill here for quite some time, and take 2 additional 18-minute walks outside here at work. It's hard to measure, but it's got to be making a difference, and I can tell that the hills are getting easier and I'm going at a faster rate now. Tempted to start running, but that's a pretty big step and I'm hesitant.
Looking forward to my niece's wedding this Saturday. We'll be staying over in a hotel in Covington KY so we don't have to head back so late.
Andi, the wedding is this Saturday! You are ready and have done well.
Go be confident and shine like star and enjoy yourself. You deserve it. Did you find a dress?
Actually, I decided to wear a dress that I bought 3 years ago, which fits me better now. :-) When I went dress shopping, I found a lot of them were the same style as I already owned, or they were sleeveless sundresses which I don't like because my upper arms aren't toned. Saved a little money.
Hi Everyone,
Andi how did the wedding go? Well I am hanging at the same weight and I know that it is not going to mve until I do. So I just have to find the motivation.
The wedding was wonderful! They really went over the top with Limo, open bar, served dinners and the works. We stayed over at the hotel and came back the next day. I'll try to post a picture from home, but I'm at work now.
I'm up a pound but that's to be expected but I'm back on plan today with my usualy hb egg for breakfast, bean soup and salad for lunch and these great flax muffins that I'm been making for a snack. The last part of the day is still a challenge for me, and I'll just need to stick to a plan such as salmon, brown rice and broccoli tonight which I have at home. I think I just de-compress at home after work and my determination wans so I eat leftovers and other stuff I shouldn't (yesterday was triscuits and cheese and baked beans). :-(
I'll try to walk 60 min today - yesterday was only 45 as it was so windy, but today's better and the sun is out.
Izzy, why don't you get out there and walk for 30 minutes? I think you'll feel better and may get the scale moving!

Andi - I'm glad you chose to wear a dress you had from 3 years ago. It probably made you feel great that it fit you better now, much better feeling than buying a new dress! You know, you can still wear a short sleeve sundress and wear a little shrug with it. They are really in style now. I have one that is open crochet that I wear over a tank top. With the open weave, it is a nice little cover-up. It looks summery, but doesn't really show bare arms. I also bought a top that I love, but it has ruffled cap sleeves that I don't like, so I wear a little knit shrug with it and it looks very stylish.
Even though you want to lose that lower body fat, it does not have the bad effect on your health that upper body fat does. I am apple shaped, and that fat in my chest and my middle are definately causing me a lot of medical problems. It is supposed to be the easier of the two to lose, but it's been difficult for me.
Hello Ladies,
I got and walked for 30 minutes and I felt great. But the pain in my chest and back is so scary. I am going to start with the 30 minutes and build up to an hour in the morning and evening. One step at a time.
Andi it sounds like you had a great time and I know you looked beautiful. Just get back on plan and you will be ok.
Carol Sue, I am like you. I am an apple as well with my weight in the upper body, especially my stomach. But I know I would feel so much better if I lost this weight. It has been so hard to get back on track. But at least today I made the first step in the right direction.
