Hello all,

Just popping in to say hi. Been working on sorting boxes of stuff ~ re-organizing, give away box, throw away stuff, boxes of stuff the kids saved delivered to them. It has been a good thing ~ feeling of accomplishment and because I want to get it done, it keeps me out of food

Weigh in tomorrow at Weight Watchers ~ I think I will be back to where I was before I had that bad eating week.

Going over to DD's tomorrow evening and help carve pumpkins. Sara said she didn't like to, and I don't mind, so will help her and the DGK's.

Hope you all are doing well. Haven't gotten a chance to catch up on the posts.

Take care

Good Morning and an apology for not keeping up with the chatter. I've been driving into town 3 times a week for many weeks trying to clear up the inflamation in my upper back and neck, no luck so far. Still have the migraines and neck strain. I'm so tired of it all!
But who am I to complain about something so trivial compared to your health issues Lynn, I'm so glad your DD/SIL balloons were red and not gold. A lovely picture of the 3 of you, your SIL must be very, very tall.
Zoe...I'm with you about the Chia seeds, my body didn't have any adverse reactions what-so-ever. I didn't get around to checking into ways of using them other than on my morning cereal, just haven't had the time.
glynne...your little sorting project reminded me of a sorting project I need to do. Sort, file, throw out a drawer full of recipes I've printed and made from the allrecipes.com site. I have sooooooo many recipe boxes that need going through, many can be tossed. I have a new way of eating healthier and some of the old recipes I have are not diet friendly. I'll bet that's a project you all have too, right?
Hi grammajiggles, welcome to the Golden Girls! You have a shorter name we can use?
Karen3...Oh, rub it in.....91 degrees! How's the recipe hunting going for all those sweet potatoes? We planted some for the first time this spring and only two came up, then the rabbits or deer ate them. I love them, it's like eating candy.
KarenMO...I love short hair, it's so much easier to care for. How would you wear it if you let it grow out?
Quote:
And I am trying to decide if I want to let my hair grow out for a while or to cut it....It is at the "shaggy" stage and I don't know if I can wait through that or not. Yuck!

Donna...egad, I'm with you there. I wouldn't mind seeing one a night but when they broadcast them over and over and over, I want to not vote for them at all.
Quote:
and won't everyone be so GLAD when this damn election is over? I AM SO SICK OF SEEING IGNORANT FACES AND ADS EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND!! They all just make me sick.
Hi Freda, Mary, Hmmmmmm...who else did I miss. I woke early this morning and had the time to chat a little, now I'm going to get ready for my chiropractor appointment.
Have a good one!

Maxine says... My 5 new boyfriends.
I am seeing 5 gentlemen everyday,
As soon as I wake up, Will Power helps me get out of bed.
Then I go to see John.
Then Charlie Horse comes along, and when he is here, he takes a lot of my time and attention.
When he leaves, Arthur Ritis shows up and stays the rest of the day. He doesn't like to stay in one place very long, so he takes me from joint to joint.
After such a busy day, I'm really tired and glad to go to bed with Ben Gay.
What a life!
Oh, yes, I'm also flirting with Al Zymer,
and thinking of calling JACK DANIELS or JOHNNY WALKER to come and keep me company.
Now remember: Life is like a roll of toilet paper...the closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes...So have fun, think 'good thoughts' only, learn to laugh at yourself, and count your blessings!

Good Morning,

Thankfully, we didn't get the bad weather we were supposed to get. Just a little light rain and none of the wind. I know they got hit pretty hard in some parts of the state. DGD wanted to go for a walk last night and we were still a little afraid to get out. Today the sun is out but it's cold. Not the cool we've been having, but cold, get the coats out.

Bobbi, I hope you get that problem taken care of soon. Lousey feeling bad all the time.

Zoe, Hope DGD is feeling ok. She get her cast on yet?

Lynn, Your daughter does look a lot like you. And yes, everything has side effects. Sounds like the seeds don't have anything that I would find to be a problem. Lowering my BP a little wouldn't hurt either.

Donna, I have to agree about the polotical adds. I can't remember an election when it's been so cut-throat. And I have to wonder, WHAt are we sending to represent us. Don't really sound like they are interested it that at all. Just trying to make each other look bad.

Gayle, it's that time of year, cleaning out the junk. I usually do it in the spring and in the fall. De-clutter. I don't get the people that say "but I might need it later". Honestly, I've never gotten rid of anything that i've ever thought about again!

Karen3, I love sweet potatoes. Just baked. Of course I have an old souther recipe for sweet potato casserole that is to die for and have a thousand calories a spoon full. I make it for the holidays and have a spoonfull.

Grandmajiggles, Welcome. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Rosie, any new yet about the surgery?

Everyone have a great day,

Freda

Good Morning, All....
Hard sleep last night... was fighting a cold all day yesterday and took a very large swig of nighttime cold liquid. I don't think I moved all night! I'm a little nose congested this morning, but I think I'll live. I have the luxury of being able to go to bed and sleep for as many hours as I need to sleep, and I get over things quickly. Cats are much more accommodating than husbands and/or kids!

No news. Rosey? Anything yet? KarenMO, I like your short hair and can't quite imagine a longer-hair look on you. Bobbi, yours fits you and looks great!

I hope you all have a lovely day! PT/Zoe, how's DGD? Everyone, be safe!

Hi all!

I have just recommended to the few remaining members of the Daily Chat group to join in here, if they haven't already done so. You each are very supportive and friendly, and I know you will welcome them with open arms, should they come on over.

This has been a busy week for me, and it's safe to say all the weeks between now and Christmas are going to be that way, haha. It doesn't seem possible that Christmas is only 8 weeks from Saturday, does it??

Have a good Thursday!

Just popping in to say "Hi". I guess I really belong here but seldom have time to do extra posting. I do snoop though and am glad to see some "old" friends.

Hi Donna,

Be careful with that cold/cough medicine. Over the winter, I did the same thing & ended up in the hospital. My BP dropped so low that my DD & SIL could not get me to wake up & neither could the EMTs. I have sworn off cold/cough medicine totally.

I ran across my Vinegar book and will post some more cooking hints, some we already know.
Condiments:When getting to the bottom of a catsup bottle, add a little vinegar and swish it around to empty the bottle.
Dairy Products: You can still hard-boil a cracked egg by adding 1 Tablespoon vinegar to the boiling water. The vinegar will prevent egg white from running out.
Fish and seafood: Add a Tablespoon or more of vinegar when frying or boiling fish to reduce fishy tastes and smells and to keep meat soft.
Give canned shrimp and fish a freshly caught taste by covering it in sherry and adding 2 Tablespoons vinegar. Soak for 15 minutes, then prepare as desired.
To keep fish white, soak for 20 minutes in a mixture of 1 quart water and 2 Tablespoons vinegar.
Tomorrow I'll post the vinegar uses listed under Fruits, vegetables and meat.
My last day at chiropractor yesterday, he said I have an underlying problem and need to go up to the hospital for xrays, maybe an MRI and to see a specialist in muscle, bone and tissue. Dr. Kim specializes in Physiatrist, physical medicine and Rehabilitation. Unfortunately I won't be able to get in for an appointment until November 9th. The inflamation will not go down and I still have migraines every day. Bummer!
Mary...I'm thinking your hubby is probably recouping under a Physiatrist after his fall?

Good Morning, All....
Rosey, what happened to the cat pictures???? Was I imagining them? I had some wonderful, truly wonderful!, advice to give you on adjusting to a new-to-you adult cat! (it's not easy)...

I'm feeling ever so much better today! Lynn, my definition of a "big swig" is about a tsp, I think, if that! It just relaxes me enough that I can sleep, sleep, sleep... I think it works so well for me because I don't normally take any kind of medication.

Bobbi, thanks for the vinegar tips. I didn't know about adding vinegar to the water before hard cooking eggs; it's always so irritating when the goo glops out! Does it matter if it's white or red vinegar?

PT/Zoe, are you coping? At least, you all might be starting to dry out! It looks like the storms are all in CA today!

Everyone, have a good day! Later...... Be safe!

Hi All,

Cold!!! Cold here today! I suppose it's that time of year. Still better than the heat, but I might not be saying that soon. Not a lot to do today. I do have to go to Curves this evening. We're hosting a PINK event, with all prceeds going to breast CA. Lots of people donated some really great prizes. It should be fun and it's for a great cause.

Bobbi, I use vinegar for so many things. I stopped using regular floor cleaner when the kids came along. I didn't want them crawling around the floor in those chemicals. I make my own fruit/veg. spray by filling a spray bottle with water and vinegar. window cleaner too. Lots of other things.

Lynn, I know polotics is pretty cut-throat. My family has been envolved in local polotics for a long time. Nothing new, but it seems particurally bad this year. But I do remember the adds that were put out about Kennedy when he ran too. And I read a biography about Davey Crocket who let congress because it was so corupt. What are we to do? It's hard to find colc medication that you can take when you take BP meds. I know my sister has a very short list of things she can take.

Rosey, Hang in there. It won't be long now.

Ruth, welcome. Come back often.

Jane, Hope the ladies in the other group stops by. We're always looking for more support.

Donna, we must have been posting at the same time. Glad to hear that you are feeling better. As far as the medication goes, if you are taking BP meds you really have to be careful with cold medication.

make it a good day,

Freda
