Good Morning, All...
Oh, Lynn, things do come in batches, don't they? Good thoughts for your sister and for your own "autopsy"!

Little bit of snow last night, cold enough to bring in the container plants. I'm not ready for the heat, but I'm so OVER this cold!

PT, I'm so glad you're back! I'm glad you had fun, and the picture is a good one!

Everyone, be safe! Later......

Good Morning, All....
Just checking in...... all is well. Cold here, but we don't have that huge band of storms that are heading toward Missouri and east...

Rosey, good job!!! I'm proud of you... and now you need a new picture!

Be safe, everyone!

Good Morning! It is really nice here right now. We had rain, lightening and thunder this morning but now the sun is out and it is 65 degrees! Love it!

Doing OK here-- still trying hard to get in the swing of things. This Saturday we will have been living here 1 year! Hard to belive! Anyway, my brothers birthday is on the 16th so we ar going to have a get together here on Saturday for him. So nice to be able to spend time with family!

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Day!!

Well, I just finished a reply when the electricity (here at work) went out for a split second, and when it came back, *poof* my reply was lost in space. Ah, well, no need to be so wordy, anyway.
I'm glad to BE back, PT...despite now having to struggle to get back to my pre-vacation eating style. I'm craving all kinds of yummy stuff, but brought my regular soup (my homemade chicken) and two pieces of 60-Calorie pita bread for my lunch. Dull. Blah.
Lynn, I hope all is well with your sister.
SUCH a good job you're doing, Rosey! Your doctor will be thrilled to death! (Or is it the nasty one that you'll be seeing next? If so, tell him to cut you some slack, now - you're certainly following his orders well enough. And PT - Donna is right! Time for a new picture, girlfriend!
Karen, yep...time sure does fly, doesn't it? Whoever would've thought we'd still be here chatting back and forth after you'd been in your new place for a whole year? Looks like this group is here to stay, huh?
And speaking of this group, where is Bobbi? Did I miss her planning to be away or something?
Hiya Maizie - glad to see that you're settling in!
Isabella, I'm betting that that lil' grandbaby of yours is keeping you hopping! I was so happy that mine remembered me so well after being away for more than a week!
Hiya Freda! Busy schedule as usual, I see. Well, just take care of yourself, you hear?
Back to work for this old hen -

Good Morning Girlfriends!
Lynn....oooooops, that's what I get for being in a hurry. Sorry about that and I'm glad it's not an autopsy. I hope all is well with sis. What's an Ablation?
Rosey...I think you're doing a wonderful job of losing weight, 36 pounds is awesome. Did hubby noticed your face is getting leaner? That's where I seem to lose first for some strange reason.
Isabella...I'm still here but my computer isn't announcing new posts anymore. I thought nobody had anything to say for the last couple of days, not unusual for summer months on this thread. I'll have to make sure I'm subscribed when I finish this post.
Zoe...I would have eaten whatever I wanted on vacation, that's part of the fun. I hate rummage sales, really hate them. It's good that I only have them once a year at my brothers. We live in the country so never have them at our house. Most of the stuff we sold this time was hunting ammo, rifle scope mounts, blah, blah, blah. I did sell all my collectible Indian plates and a few dolls. We moved all the mounted Elk, Antelope, deer, etc heads off the wall upstairs and put them in our newly remodeled basement. I put Indian pictures and collectible stuff on the rummage sale and now I have a totally feminine living room. It actually looks bare!
Karen...we're having a birthday party on Sunday for my dad, he'll be 96. We'll eat birthday cake together, ours will be a Dairy Queen Cake. Anyone had those before, I haven't. My sister bought him a new shirt that he'll put in his closet and save for when he gets old.He prefers to wear old, frayed shirts and save the good for later?Geez, he's already old. His dad lived to be 102 so maybe he will wear his new shirt when he gets old.
Jess...Snow again? You must live in the mountains huh? One thing about it, the sun melts it in no time. Does it kill all your spring flowers?
Maezie...I'm a speed eater and constantly have to slow down, DH is good at telling me to take more time. I got in the habit of speed eating in high school a zillion years ago and never got out of the habit. As much as I like food, you'd think I'd savor each bite.
A couple of days ago I dug up about 50 raspberry bushes at a farm giving them away. We have some spots in our raspberries that have died out and I need to get them planted this morning, we finally have sunshine. You all have a good day, I'll check to see that I'm subscribed now.

Two New Ways to Keep Your Mind Sharp
The power to keep your memory sharper than an Iron Chef’s knives could come from two humble places: caffeine and algae. New research showed that these two simple weapons may be important in helping you keep Alzheimer’s disease or the more common age-related minimal cognitive dysfunction (memory failure) at bay or reverse some of its changes:
Caffeine. When rodents with the symptoms of Alzheimer’s were fed about 500 milligrams of caffeine a day (about 5 cups of regular coffee), not only did they do better on memory and thinking tests, but also their brains had a 50% reduction in beta-amyloid protein, a compound that collects in your brain and tangles up your ability to think. (No word on whether they started buying stock in Starbucks.) This research confirmed what has been found in large studies of humans: that 6 or more cups a day decreases the risk of memory loss or Alzheimer’s by more than 40%.
DHA, the key omega-3 fat in fish oil -- and the key fat in your brain (yes, we are all fatheads: 60% of our brains are structural fat, and 50% of that is DHA). So it makes sense that when people with memory complaints took 900 milligrams of DHA from algae, they made fewer mistakes in a memory test than they did before taking supplements. In fact, they made as few mistakes as someone 7 years younger would have. Other DHA research hasn’t shown such dramatic benefits yet, but there are plenty of other good reasons to take it (at a dose of 600 to 900 milligrams a day), including that DHA (from algae) can help prevent the most common kind of vision loss in older age -- that from macular degeneration.

Good Morning, All...

No, Bobbi, I live in Denver, right in the middle of the city... You did well with your rummage sale! It's getting to be time for all the "yard sale" signs to appear on our light poles, big fun during the summer!

PT/Zoe, have you readjusted to the land of the working stiff? I'm glad you had such a good vacation, but I'll bet those local grandbabies missed you!

All is well here, status quo, and no complaints. I just plug along, dontcha know? Be safe, everyone!

Anyone else having problems with their subscribed threads? I'm still not getting the posts announced on my email for the Golden Girls?
I clicked on the subscribe button but it's not forwarding the email message anymore?
Jess...middle of Denver huh, one day of our rummage sale was in the 30's. We had frost that night, if we had moisture in the air we would have had snow too.

A quick hi & bye,

I'm exhausted. Left home every morning this week at 6, drove 2 hours to the hospital, visited with my sister for a couple of hours & then 2 hours to drive home.

My sister is better - out of ICU and in cardiac care. Today she has a stress test to check for blockage.

I'll keep you posted.

Well, I survived the birthday get together here at the house. My brother will be 63 tomorrow. Here is a picture of Tim and I standing in the doorway between the kitchen and living room. As of yesterday my ticker was correct and I have all this coming week to make it move down or at least not move up since I had cake and homemade ice cream today... But at least it was sugar free cake and sugar free homemade ice cream... And very good. I am going to get that recipe from my sister. Her hubby is diabetic and she made it. Sure hope everyone had a good day. Be back Later

Sister is out of hospital and at her daughter's. I may drive up there today. I will call & see how she is.

Yesterday, I laid down to take a nap at 3 in the afternoon & never got up until 6 this morning.

I need to get my Irish family genealogy info together this week for trip. I leave for Ireland (if the airports are open) on Saturday.

Happy Sunday Morning Girls!
I need to get ready for chruch but just wanted to check in on everyone. Lynn...Glad to hear your body finally got the much needed sleep and sis is back with family.
Karen...thanks for sharing pics, that your new home?
Zoe...thanks for sharing your pics too, I love when everyone posts pictures of family and cool things in your lives.

I eat Fiber One, homemade yogurt and a banana (or fruit in season) every morning for breakfast, same-0, same-0 and never get tired of it. Lunch is homemade vegetable soup and I find it takes the stress out of meal planning when I keep things easy and simple for those two meals. Maybe you can take your lunches out of the office unto a park bench or something so you don't get into the Dull, blah syndrome.

Hey Freda, where are You?
Rosey...I'd go nuts having all that family invading my privacy for the whole summer. You and hubby must be very sociable people, great if you like that. DH and I are very private and love being in our little ruts. Maybe being isolated out in the country does that to us?
Jess...funny I don't see Denver as being cold this time of year, get those 'ol bones' warmed up. You notice I didn't say old bones.
Yesterday I dug up more raspberries to fill in some balding spots in our garden, my fingers are full of sprickly thingies. A guy called into our 'Party Line' radio station and said to bring out buckets and shovels and help yourself to his raspberry patch that was taking over his yard. Very beautiful and healthy raspberry bushes and so generous of him. Here I am blabbing away and I need to get ready for church.
Have a nice Sunday, visit some friends or family.

Hi evereyone,

Sorry for not posting in so long. Guess I was dealing with some depression since my friend died. I am doing much better now. But in the mean time I hav gained so much weight!!! I've just started watching what I eat again and exercising. I'm not even going to tell you how much i've gained, it's too crazy, but i'll let you know when i've lost it!! Amazing how much you can gain in such a short time! If only we could lose that quickly.

The weather here is crazy. Cold one day and turning the heat on and the enxt day it's hot and turning the air on. Right now it's cool. BUT today is supposed to be back up to 70. I sure hope so, since the Grands are playing ball for 6 hours. I'll be stuck at the field with nothing to eat except the snacks I plan to take. They sell nachoes and hot dogs...what a choice! maybe I can sneak out to a fast food place for a salad.

Rosie, what great news! You are doing so well. making new tops? The loss much be starting to really show! Won't your Dr. be surprised.

Lynn, Hope the biopsy went well. Are you on vacation right now? Have fun. Glad your sister is doing ok.

Karen, I'm amazed at how good some of the sugar free ice creams are. Makes it a lot easier, doesn't it, when we can celebrate with every one else.

Bobbi, I eat fiber one and fiber one yogurt. I didn't expect to like it, but it's really good. I am a creature of habit also. I find that knowing what i'm going to eat ahead of time makes it so much easier...a little boring for some maybe, but it works for me.

Donna, I know what you mean about the cold getting in your bones. We were at DGS soccer game this week and I was wearing a sweat shirt and my winter coat, hat and gloves, wrapped in a blanket, and I was still cold and damp. Takes forever to warm up. Hope you get some warmer weather soon too.

Z, are you working that southern accent you picked up? I find that when I go south my speach really starts to slow down.

Isabella, You really are a dedicated grandma. I babysit too, and have since the kids were born. We have them 2 days a week and more, plus all the activities we take them too. I wouldn't miss it for anything. I enjoy them so much.

Hope everyone is doing well,,,have a blessed Sunday

Freda
