Thanks everyone for the words of welcome and encouragement. My name is Judy and I live in Oregon. I don't usually get on her during the day since I'm at work until 6 Pac. time. I'm always up late, though. I'm really looking forward to the long weekend. The weather has been so rainy and cold, but we're supposed to have some sunshine for the next few days.
I joined Curves tonight after work. I belonged to Curves for a couple of years, and when I moved about 3 yrs. ago I stopped going. I'm going to start again. Hopefully I can firm up some of this body of mine. It may or may not work, but we'll see.
We haven't decided for sure on a date yet for the weddding, but we're thinking about Aug. 21st.
We're going to WVa for my high school reunion at the end of July, we probably don't have time before then, so it will probably be after we get back. Guess I'd better get to bed. I keep falling asleep in the middle of my typed words. See you guys tomorrow

Welcome back Karen3........I think we all stray away for a time, I know I did. But when the weight comes back on, it's back to the Golden Girls who have been there, done that! Congrats on ridding yourself of the 20 lbs.

Hi Gals. I'm home for the weekend. Welcome back Karen. I was looking at Karen31's picture of her in her pool and thought of you immediately. Now, we have 2 swimming Karens. Hope you can get back to swimming again.

I'm not too chatty with you gals these days. I've been reading all the posts and thank you for your interest, kind words and encouragement, etc. I'm pooped by the end of the day and don't have what it takes to write a long post or any post, for that matter. Little babies are energy drainers. I take him for a ride in his stroller after breakfast every morning that the weather permits and we walk about 5 kilometers round trip. I'm going to be broke if I keep stopping into the Dollarama, hahaha. Those dollars add up. After our walk he takes a nap for about 2 hours and that's when I prepare dinner and do a little housekeeping for DIL. Then it's lunch time for the little guy and afterwards we play outside if it's nice out. He's got a new car that he can sit in like the emperor of house and command his adoring servants to push him up and down the road or all around the house. He particularly likes his grandmother to run while pushing. It must be the thrill of the wind in his face. Anyway, he's giving me a fairly good workout on nice sunny days.

I saw a moose this afternoon. It was a yearling and it walked right to the edge of the road. Fortunately, I saw him a ways back when he was at the top of a bank that led down to the ditch at the side of the highway. I slowed right down and pulled to the side of the road as did other drivers on both sides of the road. He looked around and then took off up the hill again. I'm glad he wasn't flying (remember the robin that flew into my car).

I haven't weighed in over 2 weeks and I'm almost afraid to do so tomorrow morning. When I got home tonight I ate 4 very large slices of bread with my supper, 4 cookies a piece of cake and licked out a few bowls later on. But I ate pretty good during the week at DS's place. I think it's some kind of reaction to being home. Food means good stuff and being home is good. I guess I'd better take the plunge and step on the scales tomorrow morning.

Take care all and I'll try and check in again tomorrow.

Karen3!!!! Welcome back!!!! I wondered where you'd gotten yourself up to! Sorry about the weight gain, but happy to see you again! And, of course we KNOW about yo-yoing around here, don't we, GG's? Couldn't find a more understanding group, I wouldn't think! Come often, you hear?
Well, Isabella, that young-un surely is keeping you busy, isn't he? Good thing you stayed so active before taking on the baby-care. I know that in MY case, I'm worn out after one day with the twins. I could never make it through a whole week every day.
Well, I staged a bit of a rebellion today. Told DH that he should head up to the White Mountains without me - and give me a day just to myself to relax and just plain not do anything (meaning packing and all the preparation stuff that you do for ANY time away from home...you know, right?) I'll head up tomorrow, but in the meantime, I took myself a long...I mean REALLY long...bath, primped, lotioned, tweezed and pumiced. Then I showered off, washed my hair and sat under a ceiling fan scrunching it until it dried. THEN, I gathered up my book and sunglasses and spent an hour and a half soaking up vitamin D at the lake. (So far, knock on wood, no skin problems, and I have spent a LOT of time in the sun over the years!) Folowed up with a little shopping, stopped at my daughters for an hour or so, and then headed home. Made ONE stop - at a D'Angelo's sandwich shop. I don't know how many of you have them where you live, but they're pretty well known in New England...anyway, in summer they have the BEST lobster salad imaginable. I mean really good - and this is from someone who grew up on the ocean and knows her lobster, trust me. So I had the equivalent of what they would put on a LARGE sandwich (very large) in a salad container - minus the bread, and brought it home and ate it with one of my 60-calorie pitas. My little Memorial Day treat to myself. I only had a cup or so of grapes earlier in the day which isn't [I]good[I], I know, but I was busy and just never felt hungry. Also, judging by the way my clothes are fitting, I've lost whatever I gained down at my sister's. (Can anybody say yo-yo?)
I comfort myself with the fact that our Bobbi has actually gained a few pounds. Now we KNOW you're going to take it right back off again, girlfriend, but gaining a little back every so often just keeps us human, doncha think?
Okay...glad you're having a pretty spring, PT...it looks like we MAY have a decent holiday weekend. Time will tell on that front.
Hiya Rosey, Freda, Karen31 and Barb...hope you all enjoy the weekend!

Hello Everyone,

Still in Dublin. This afternoon, my cousin (we've never met in person - just on Ancestry.com) is picking me up at hotel & taking me to her home in County Wicklow for dinner. We plan to compare our research on our mutual ancestral family in the hope of identifying direct relationship. Right now, what we know is that in 1841 (Victoria was Queen of England), my ancestor & family were living in same house as her ancestor and family. First we thought they were brothers, but probably not. Now we think they might be cousins.

I'll keep you posted.

Lynn

Good morning...Blue bird day here with the sky so blue it should crack. Pool temp has been hovering at 83 and climbing. Surprising after getting wet it doesn't feel like bath water.

Have a bunch of errands to run today. Including going to the ice cream store for 4 pints of hand dipped. One will be black rashberry cobbler. This is the 3rd time I stopped and bought it and never tasted it, but OMY it looks wonderful. I have the girl pack each container with various layers of yummy flavors. The chocacholic's is really dark so add dab of bubble gum flavor on top. For some reason I can sit and watch others pig out and am good......guess my weakness is breads and salty things.

My daughter sent me a bottle of Jimmy's kitchen sauce. This is NC BBQ sauce. For the first time ever I can have it without driving 11hrs to NC. No red in this sauce. Now just have to figure how to do beachy meals with it.

I still have to cook 7 turkey thighs a week for the dog, Dash. He is allergic to chicken and soy. Try buying any dog food without either one of those. So tired of smelling turkey that Thanksgiving we had ham.

DH and fishing buddy went way off shore yesterday. About 30+ miles into the Gulf. No fish No Oil or even oil smell. It's like waiting for a shoe to drop. It's out there somewhere?????? Wonder what's happening with Cat in La?

And then there is hurricane season starting June1st....gesh!

Be back later to do personals......hugs, karen3

Good Morning, All...
Just checking in.... nothing much planned for the holiday weekend. PT/Zoe, hope you have fun with your adventure! Your "pampering" was needed and necessary, yes!

Lynn, sounds like you're having a lovely time! When I went to England, all I wanted to do was get inside some of those cottages and see how they lived. I'm so envious that you're going to your cousin's for a real Irish dinner! What a great trip! And I suddenly have a hankering for high tea, scones, and Dover cream!

Status quo here. I lose a wee tad every day, it seems, which adds up. Mostly, though, I just feel really good!

Hope you all have a fun weekend, with lots of bbqs or whatever... just be safe!

Morning all....Been down here so long that we forget that you all are just finishing up Spring. Our strawberry season was 3 months ago and local tomatoes are in and actually almost done. OMG made the best dinner last night. Grilled vegies(zucchine, yellow squash, portabella mushroom, baby eggplant) that marinated in olive oil and rice vinegar and dried tomato. Smeared 1/2 ciabalta roll with goat cheese, dizzled the dried tomato over cheese and topped with vegies. Only thing better would have been other half of the roll.....but it was beyond wonderful.

Today was WI and have another 3lbs gone.

Isabella... I find it amazing that you can keep up with the baby. Between you and Zoe and the wee ones I get exhausted thinking about it. My family is stretched not only by miles but ages. DGS is 30, DGD1 is 22 and DGD2 is 10.

Jess... We drove out to Colorado 2 years ago to visit friends in Glenwood, Craig and then Trinada. Blasted thru Dever and over the mountains. Running into snow in June. Decided after running in front of tornados every evening next time we fly. We hunted in the White River area for probably 25 yrs.....before major gas explorations. It is such a beautiful state.

Hi Taxi... oops did read your name....Hi Judy welcome to GG.

Lynn...okay what did you have for dinner? It had to been made with Irish cream or butter.

I got the ice cream yesterday. None for me. Bought DH sf butter almond. It looks gooey and yellowish and have convinced self I am not interested in tasting. So there are 7 pint containers in the freezer until tomorrow with16 different flavors...

Off for weekly groceries......hugs, karen3

Good Morning, All...
Had to go through the 50+ forum to find our thread today... nothing comes up with the search words of May Golden Girls. I almost panicked!!

Hope you're all having a great day, in anticipation of the day off tomorrow! Karen3, did you say why you're buying all that ice cream? I probably missed it... that's a LOT of ice cream!

Pretty here. I think I'll go shower, finish off my grocery list, maybe go to church (that will probably be enough of a shock to stop the oil leak!), go grocery shopping... blah, blah, blah...

Have a lovely day, everyone! Be safe!

This was just too funny!! Everyone needs a good laugh!!

HIGH SCHOOL CLASS REUNION OF A 60+ YEAR OLD LADY

I had prepared for it like any intelligent woman would.

I went on a starvation diet the day before, knowing that all the extra weight would just melt off in 24 hours, leaving me with my sleek, trim, high-school-girl body. The last forty years of careful cellulite collection would just be gone with a snap of a finger.

I knew if I didn't eat a morsel on Friday, that I could probably fit into my
senior formal on Saturday. Trotting up to the attic, I pulled the gown out of the garment bag, carried it lovingly downstairs, ran my hand over the fabric, and hung it on the door.

I stripped naked, looked in the mirror, sighed, and thought, "Well, okay, maybe if I shift it all to the back ..." Bodies never have pockets where you need them.

Bravely I took the gown off the hanger, unzipped the shimmering dress and stepped gingerly into it. I struggled, twisted, turned, and pulled and I got the formal all the way up to my knees ... before the zipper gave out. I was disappointed. I wanted to wear that dress with those silver sandals again and dance the night away.

Okay, one setback was not going to spoil my mood for this affair. No way! Rolling the dress into a ball and tossing it into the corner, I turned to Plan
B: the black crepe caftan.

I gathered up all the goodies that I had purchased at Saks: the scented shower gel; the body building and highlighting shampoo and conditioner; the split-end killer and shine enhancer. Soon my hair would look like that girl's in the Pantene ads.

Then the makeup -- the under eye "ain't no lines here" firming cream, the all-day face-lifting gravity-fighting moisturizer with wrinkle filler spackle; the 'all day kiss me till my lips bleed, and see if this gloss will come off' lipstick, the bronzing face powder for that special glow.

But first, the roll-on facial hair remover. I could feel the wrinkles shuddering in fear.

Okay, time to get ready! I jumped into the steaming shower, soaped, lathered, rinsed, shaved, tweezed, buffed, scrubbed and scoured my body to a tingling pink.

I plastered my freshly scrubbed face with the anti-wrinkle, gravity fighting "your face will look like a baby's posterior" face cream. I set my hair on hot
rollers.

I felt wonderful. Ready to take on the world. Or in this instance, my underwear. With the towel firmly wrapped around my glistening body, I pulled out the black lace, tummy-tucking, cellulite-pushing, ham hock-rounding girdle,

I greased my body with the scented body lotion and began the plunge. I pulled, stretched, tugged, hiked, folded, tucked, twisted, shimmied, hopped, pushed, wiggled, snapped, shook, caterpillar crawled and kicked. Sweat poured off my forehead but I was done. And it didn't look bad.

So I rested. A well deserved rest, too.

The girdle was on my body. Bounce a quarter off my behind? It was tighter than a trampoline. Can you say, "Rubber baby buggy bumper buns?" Okay, so I had to take baby steps, and walk sideways, and I couldn't move from my buns to my knees. But I was firm!

Oh no ... I had to go to the bathroom. And there wasn't a snap crotch. From now on, undies gotta have a snap crotch. I was ready to rip it open and re-stitch the crotch with Velcro, but the pain factor from past experiments was still fresh in my mind. I quickly sidestepped to the bathroom.

An hour later, I had answered nature's call and repeated the struggle into the girdle. I was ready for the bra. I remembered what the saleslady said
to do. I could see her glossed lips mouthing, "Do not fasten the bra in the front, and twist it around. Put the bra on the way it should be worn -- straps over the shoulders. Then bend over and gently place both breasts
inside the cups."

Easy if you have four hands. But, with confidence, I put my arms into the holsters, bent over and pulled the bra down ... but the boobs weren't cooperating. I'd no sooner tuck one in a cup, and while placing the other, the first would slip out. I needed a strategy. I bounced up and down a few
times, tried to dribble them in with short bunny hops, but that didn't work. So, while bent over, I began rocking gently back and forth on my heel and toes and I set 'em to swinging. Finally, on the fourth swing, pause, and lift, I
captured the gliding glands. Quickly fastening the back of the bra,
I stood up for examination.

Back straight, slightly arched, I turned and faced the mirror, turning front, and then sideways. I smiled, yes, Houston , we have lift up!

My breasts were high, firm and there was cleavage! I was happy until I tried to look down. I had a chin rest. And I couldn't see my feet.

I still had to put on my pantyhose, and shoes. Oh ... why did I buy heels with buckles?

Then I had to pee again.

So I put on my sweats, fixed myself a drink, ordered pizza, and skipped the high school reunion.

If this did not give you a good laugh -- you're too young!

Good Afternoon Girls!
That was funny Karen, sound like all of us.
Zoe...my 6.5 weight gain was just from eating a little extra desserts, dang! But as long as we get right back on the band wagon and take it off quickly, it's O.K.
Jess...I used to get email's whenever someone gabs on this site but don't anymore. I'm still signed up for it too......something is goofy around here.
Isabella...I'm tired for you, really! How long you gonna keep this up girlfriend?

I'm on my way out the door, just wanted to post the new June Thread.........ALREADY. I know one of the reasons our GG's summer post gets slow, and it should. We all need to be out soaking up the rays while we can. I'm making a special efforts to check out my flower gardens each day to see what's popping up. Last year I put lots of Petunias in and the rabbit ate them all. This year I put mostly red Geranims in and the rabbits don't like them. They ate all the tops of my impatients, the little jerks. I need some color in my shade garden and impatients are one of a few annuals that keep flowering. Any suggests girls?
See ya........have a great Memorial Day.
