Happy Thursday!

Not much to report...seem to have my head in the "game", under calorie count two days in a row, been to the gym every day this week (which is a huge accomplishment for me). Life goes along whether I like it or not, so best to try for a positive attitude and enjoy the ride.

kelijpa: Congrats on the loss! Another milestone down!!!

Zumbachica: Glad you found time to get your hair colored. Sorry about the apple pastries. I really hate those unexpected temptations. Stay warm yourself.

newleaf123: Thanks for all the info! Of course, in the throws of TOM, the thought of just removing everything sounds pretty good...not thinking about the consequences long term.

LuvCats: Did your videos come yesterday? I'm sorry your DH has to be gone for such long periods. But you're right...it beats being unemployed! Why is it things seem to break the minute they leave? Our garage door opener broke once when my DH was gone for a long weekend. What a pain!!

Have a great, On plan day!

Hi Everyone -
Sorry I've been MIA. My family came down with the flu last weekend, so most of the time I was busy taking care of them, then when they were all well I got it! Funny how the sympathy level falls for the last person sick....they think since they are all better that I should be too!

While all this was going on, I still managed to stay on plan, or have my daily calories at maintenence levels. I still haven't dropped a pound. My clothes do feel a little looser, so maybe I'm trading fat for muscle? Of course, maybe I'm just kidding myself. It's so easy to get discouraged! Also, my scale is old, and only goes up or down in 2 pound increments, so it can take awhile to see a change. I keep thinking I should just get a new one, but I'm afraid it would weigh me heavier, and I don't think I could take that right now!

I haven't done much in the way of exercising, my chest just hurt too bad. I did manage a couple days of easy walks on the treadmill. Today I'm planning to get back after it again.

Hope you're all having a good week. We have a dinner date at Maggiano's with friends on Saturday. Honestly, when I'm dieting I'd just rather stay home and eat food that I cook, so I can stay on plan. Feels like I spend 5 days doing well, then go out and eat one meal and spend the next 5 days getting the sodium/extra calories out of my body again!

kelijapa: WTG on the loss!

Zumbachicka: I'm glad you got the time for yourself. I understand eating the apple pastries. Many a time I've done similar. Good job at the impromptu kitchen exercise.

Moondance:
Yeah on getting to the gym! I never did well at that. I seem to do much better in my own home. Yes, the vids (and the new weights (sets of 2#, 3#, and 5#) came yesterday. I've viewed 2 of the vids. The walking one is definitely doable for me. A majority of the other (toning) is also. I'm trying to figure out how to set my laptop up so I can start this morning. It's a pain not having a TV that will work for this. Oh well I'm not going to let that defeat me.

LindaWW: Welcome back and WTG staying on plan while you were sick.

Okay, guys...I need positive thoughts/prayers/whatever you've got...H can't get into the cardiologist until the END OF FEB!!! I'm sure his primary care physician NOT getting his results from the monitor back for basically 2 weeks didn't help. I'm sorry I'm just really frustrated & scared. The dr. readjusted his heart medications again...I'm sure that is probably not going to work forever. Plus I believe the are concerned about what it does to other organs, because he has to go in EVERY couple of weeks for blood work. We are trying to re-check with his primary physician to see if he knows another cardiologist he can try & we are going to call each day to see if there is a cancellation. Last thing his primary said before we left was, "I want to see that you've had the implantation." Well, H won't EVEN SEE the cardiologist before he goes back into the dr. I'm sooo frustrated.
I'm trying to stay on track. I walk for nearly an hour this morning. Had a light breakfast & lunch. Helped H with phone calls. He's gotten ONE return call in the half-dozen he's made. UGH!!!
Keep positive thoughts, we want this taken care of ASAP! I'd love to take H on a mini vaca for our anniversary on April 1. I won't if he doesn't have his pacemaker & given the all clear.

Have a good healthy day! I'll try to pop back in laters! GO TEAM 40-SOMETHINGS!!!!

MrsTrying; I really hope that all goes well with your husband. Maybe his primary care can make some phone calls for you and get him in sooner? Hope he feels good in the meantime and good for you for remembering to take care of yourself during all this.

LINDAWW: oh you poor thing, the whole family getting the flu is no fun, and as we all know moms don't get to take sick days....hope you're back to snuff and your house stays healthy ...

KELIJPA: sorry for your loss....

I'm doing okay, seems like i have a good day , then bad day, good day, etc....stil, i'm struggling to stay OP and I'm way better than I was...feel motivated. No big loss but atleast I feel less bloated......

Hope everyone's doing well! I'm a bit busy right now with school work, work, being sick (yay). I'm losing some of my hoilday weight (3 pounds to go until I'm where I was just before the holidays kicked in)

Mrs.Trying again, I am sending lots of thoughts out your way!

Gotta run!

I gotta figure out a way to deal with salty cravings. Potato chips are proving my downfall, really all forms of fried potato products should have no place in my life. Ahhh what to do? especially when the DH is munching away on them. I can eat just one, not!! kinda like a crack addict. Saltines and tortilla chips slightly better, but still binge-inducing. Salt, salt, salt.

MrsTryiingAgain: *Hugs* I can't imagine how difficult this must be. The only thing I can think of is to keep at it and insist. Get past the "gatekeeper" so to speak and talk to a nurse or the office manager of either/both offices.

olehcat: WTG on losing the holiday pounds!! It feels so good!

junem: One thing I like is the special k cracker chips. The serving size is very generous (30 chips I believe) and they aren't small. I frequently split the serving and have half as a snack and half with lunch. It comes in a variety of flavors including sea salt, cheddar (I think) and sour cream & onion... I think there is a savory variety too. I don't remember the calories but a serving is 3 points for WW.

Well my vids did come yesterday as I said. I managed to do the warm up, basic mile, and cool down. For some crazy reason I did the elliptical too. Lol my legs feel a bit sore at the moment but it feels good!

Now I am waiting to talk to DH tonight to find out if he will finally be home soon. Either way I know it is short term as he has to be back in Stockton February 4th. I'm both anxious for him to be home and frustrated he will be... frustrated because I've barely on plan and exercising again and I know he will be wanting to eat out, etc. while he is here. Sounds crazy probably. Lol I will manage when he gets here one way or another.... and be ticked off if he tells me tonight he won't be home soon.

Have a great evening everyone.

kelijpa: Sorry about the loss of a loved one. to you & yours. On the other hand, congrats on the weight loss! Keep up the excellent work!

LindaWW: Sorry everyone was sick. Yup, you're right! It's not fair that the one who cared for everyone of them gets sick at the end & the sympathy & empathy just seems to go bye-bye. Maybe you could buy one of the magic scales I like I tried the bout a week ago...it showed me 10 lbs. lighter than my one at home. Course I was afraid the minute I'd bring it home it would show me 10 lbs heavier!!! ARGH! Can't win!!!

junem: I know what you mean about salt! YUM! Especially at TOM! I find if I allow myself just a little only when I really, really feel the need for it. I also DO NOT keep chips in the house, it's just this: open bag = empty bag. It does take some effort but after awhile I don't crave it as much. And with H's health, he CANNOT have that much sodium or his poor feet swell up to 2x their size! One benefit from his new health restictions is a lot less sugar, salt, fat & carbs.

LuvCats: Ah, husbands...love them, want to kill them. Good job on the vids! I wish I could find some I'd enjoy. I guess I just need to really look around. Also there is NOT a lot of room in our small 1 bedroom apartment....GAWD! I wish we could move!!!

Had a healthy day. Tomorrow we'll be contacting the cardiologist's office again to see if there was a cancellation. We'll do this everyday if necessary. H did call his primary's office, left a voicemail for his nurse...no call back, NO BIG SUPRISE THERE!! I might just have to put on my butt-kicking shoes & go in. Ya know I've been having to use them so much lately, they are starting to show wear!
I'm tired. I'll check in probably late tomorrow. Have kinda a full day.

BE HEALTHY! BE PROUD OF THE PROGRESS YOU ARE MAKING!! DON'T GIVE UP!!! WE ARE ALMOST FINISHED WITH THE FIRST MONTH OF 2013!!!! GO!!!!!

Hello lovely 40-something ladies! I've missed you all, as I've been on vacation for a week. Went to a beautiful wedding as a bridesmaid, but didn't feel my best in the dress I wore. I ate completely out of control the entire week I was gone - tasty food - but didn't do myself any favors. It didn't help that it was PMS/TOM for me. Also, does anyone else retain fluid when they fly? I am hoping that some of extra weight is water retention, because my scale read 159 this morning! Yikes! I haven't seen that number in many months. I am really hoping to get back on track now that I am home. Hope to catch up on all of your posts over the next few days.

Nice to "see" you all again!

Happy Friday all! I started my day with a deep root cleaning at the dental office. Get to go back in Feb. to have it finished. They numbed my mouth which I requested because I cannot stand the cold water and air on my teeth. Too sensitive.

My weight was just slightly higher today. 166.6 up .04 ounces. We had homemade pizza last night which fit in my calorie limits but probably did not help my water weight. I also had a couple of drinks last night. Thirsty Thursday, LOL. When I entered my weight in MFP I saw that I have lost 3.2-4lbs this month. Not great but trying to be happy with it.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

MrsTryingAgain:Yep yep you said it about husbands. I hope you have good news for yours soon! Yay on the healthy day.

guacamole:Welcome back. I'll bet you have your weight back under control soon. At least it sounds like you are on the right track now.

NEMom:Uggh at the deep root cleaning. Both my DH and my S(on)IL have had to have those. Definitely don't sound fun. Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!

Well DH is on a plane as I type. Have to head to the airport in less than half hour. 99.9% of my is thrilled but now comes the challenge of staying on track eating and exercising until he leaves. Thankfully I haven't used any of my weekly points yet and my week starts over on Tuesday (he said he will be here until Wednesday) so we would be able to go out to breakfast that day. Now to figure out what I could eat tonight as I'm quite sure he is going to want to go out. Guess I'd better get moving. Happy weekend everyone!

Hello Ladies!

Sorry I've been MIA - work as anticipated took over my 24 hour days...it's been so intense, this week I completely gave up my evening wine. The good news, I've been using my treadmill for 30 minutes in the evenings (between conference calls) to help with the stress, and with the wine gone, I've eaten less and better (no starchy carbs)....I'm now down to 142.75 pounds! (yep - I'm counting that 1/4 pound! LOL).

Unfortunately, all this work and stress has caught up with me - I'm getting a nasty head cold. Took some DayQuil It has kicked in, and this is my first day that I can "breathe" so I'm going to clean (the house has been severely neglected). Today I'll do the upstairs....turn on some Jack Johnson and work at it all morning. I shoveled snow this morning (only took about 20 minutes)...ran 5K last night, and planned to run all weekend, but with this head cold I'm going to play it by ear today...maybe take a hot bath when I'm done cleaning and let my body work on fighting this bug.

So only 2 and 3/4 pounds away from the 130s!!! Hopefully this time next week I'll check in at 139!!!

Guac - I fly all the time, and YES - it DEFINITELY can cause water retention!!! I've actually seen 2-3 pounds of water weight after a long flight. So no worries!!!

Think I'll start a crockpot of lentil stew this morning....it's a cold winter day, and with my head cold it will really taste good for dinner in front of the fireplace. To curb the munchies, I've started knitting again. I don't knit well (just making a scarf - I'm calling it my "goal scarf"...lol), but it keeps my hands busy and is relaxing in the evenings while I'm watching TV.

Hope everyone has a great day! I'll try to check in again later.

Sheila

Thanks for the good wishes, back home, everything went well, except the eating, but now time to get back on program. Had chicken for lunch and having salads for dinner, juicing tomorrow, I was up 5 after 2 days...if only it could come off that fast!!

It's 18 now, that must be the high, it was 5 this morning, too dang cold, will have to treadmill tonight.

We got some navel oranges at Sam's club, they are HUGE, I just ate one, can't believe how full I am from an orange.

Wanted to check in, will have to catch up on the posts, get ready, February on Friday already...whew! At least that means spring is closer!

best to all
