Default Hi Ladies...

Hey there all...
I've been out of the loop for over a week and was just reading yesterday to catch up.
Spent last week unpacking stuff in storage and prepping for a yard sale. Boy, it felt good to get that done, but I have been plagued with weight gain...(grrrrr.... ). I'd "allowed" sugar back into my life and now am refocusing on getting the sugar out.
I'm also upping my exercise. The cross trainer in the AM must now be completed BEFORE I get my coffee. THAT's a motivator.
Gotta go...I still have computer problems at work.

Good news, my middle aged friends! I had my physical today. The nurse practitioner was very impressed. BP, cholesterol ... everything is good. I'm very happy!

Default Oh My Gosh!!!!!!!!!

Oh! Oh! Oh!
I'm freaking out inside right now!!!
I just got a call from the plastic surgeon's office asking me if I could go to surgery TOMORROW due to a cancellation! Thankfully, she's got other people to call, but she said that I should expect to go for surgery this summer. I'm #2 on the waiting list. Perhaps this seems kind of odd, why would I freak out over an upcoming plastic sugery (besides the fact that I'm a single mom and need someone to help watch my little one).
Ok, here's the background:
My daughter was born via "emergency" c-section. (I wanted a vaginal birth but after 36 hours of contractions and triple the norm dosage of pettossan, I started showing signs of shock (not the baby, thank God!). So, the best thing for us was a C-section. I kept spiking a fever after she was born and wasn't released until 5 days after her birth. The abdomin had stretched (of course), but didn't heal correctly and didn't "reform" correctly. SO, last fall I went to the doctor for one thing, and he ended up referring me to Cosmetic Surgery. (I thought this was good.) They will do a penniculectomy (for $2500 because it was due to the C-section) and make it pretty like it was supposed to look (vs general surgery who would do it and make it "ugly" or so I'm told.) The catch is I had to get on a waiting list within 3 yrs of the C-section. (My daughter will be 3 years old on 1 Aug.) I was also told that the waiting list was 12-18 months long. I thought "Great! I'll have the surgery around Feb 2008." I will move and change health care plans in the summer of 2008, so it had to happen before then.
I ALSO WANTED TO LOSE ENOUGH WEIGHT THAT SUGERY WOULD MAKE SENSE.
But now I'm freaked out!
I can't lose 50lbs or more in a month or two! It's just not happening!
I'm just a LITTLE bit off kilter by that phone call. I really took me by surprise. (Interestingly, the first place I turned was 3fc. A true testament to the support I know is here.)
I'm sure things will work out...(yikes)...but I really wanted to be under 180lbs before the surgery.
Thanks for listening to my freak-out.

Susan - Congrats on the physical results! That's a NSV that should really feel good!

Slashnl, Clydegirl, Kimmush - Hello, and thanks for your words of encouragement. They were much needed and helped a LOT. I don't keep a ticker, but the number is finally going back down.

I look forward to hearing from y'all on this topic...Just typing it out has helped calm me down a bit.

Cammie

So are you going to the appointment tomorrow? Just take it one day at a time and don't look at "I have to lose 50 lbs by the summer". Every pound you lose will help even if you're not at 180 by your surgery date. It's a great opportunity for you to have the surgery even though it's sooner than you thought. I hope you're able to get things sorted out for your little girl.

Be calm think good thoughts. Everything happens for a reason.

Default Breathing...

Clydegirl, thank you SO much for your kind words and the hugs!
I've calmed down a little. The scheduling gal said that I didn't have to have surgery tomorrow but I remain 2nd on the wait list. WOW it still bowls me over. ("Oh sure, I'll just come in tomorrow and have some doctor I saw in December perform life altering surgery on me. Why not? I can recover Memorial day weekend and have a nice slender tummy, fat butt and thunder thighs for the summer." Although, given some thought, I'm sure that someone is ready, physically and mentally. Obviously, I wasn't ready this morning! )
I have noticed though, that in the span of only a few hours the signs for "cookies and cream milkshakes" turned from a sexy welcoming "no-no" to something my mind sees as pure evil, works of ! It's really funny how much a single phone call can change my outlook. I hope it's a good change.
I'm breathing again, now, but WOW, have my "filters" (perhaps rose colored glasses) have changed.
I'm looking at the upcoming surgery (in a month or so) as a good thing, but I still want to lose as MUCH as possible before hand.
Thanks again, Clydegirl.
Anyone else have thoughts?

Hello Everyone...

Cammie...Oh my goodness...honey you will do fine...just like Clydegirl said...one step at time...one pound at a time... Look how far you have come...and you have everyone here to cheer you on! ... My prayers are with you!

Slashnl...Weigh in was dreadful This is the first time since January that I have gained weight...but the problem was that yesterday one of the children on my caseload had a birthday and he got to pick where he wanted to eat...Mandarin Chinese Buffet...I ate only one plate and then fruit for dessert...and a healthy salad for dinner...but the damage was done...so now I don't know should I weigh in again tomorrow or not and just wait till next Thursday...also I am under so much pressure/stress and I don't know if that is having some effect...regardless...it sucks...

and Susan B You will be happy to know that I am continuing with my journalling and have for a while...so that is good...

Has anyone heard from Jo? I hope everything is well!

Kim you did waaay better at a Chinese buffet than I ever do! And I am happy that you're journalling. I say weigh yourself, being fully aware that that buffet was sooo salty! Watching fluid come and go was what lead me to the dr's the other day.

Cammie ... you're smart to wait. Buckle down ... you now have a goal in sight and a fan club

And to everyone else ... Good Morning!

Hi guys!!!! No, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth; just been super busy the past two weeks and hubby was off all this week. He just went out to run some errands for a few hours and this is the first chance I've had to get on the computer w/out someone walking in and out reading over my shoulder. My whole schedule is off this week.

Cammie -- I didn't know you were going to have surgery. GOOD LUCK!!! I agree w/everyone else, just do as much as you can w/the weight loss until the surgery. It's all you can do. I hope the surgery goes smoothly and you have a very, very speedy recovery. Did the doc's give a recovery time for it? My youngest was an uplanned c-section. I had a terrible time after she was born w/leaking spinal fluid. The ob/gyn gave me the epidural (vs. an anesthesiologist) and she didn't get it right the first time so did it again. Apparently the first hole never closed up; they had to do a blood patch (Susan B prolly knows all about this stuff!) where they draw a humungo amount of blood from your arm then inject it into your spine via the epidural sac and put as much in as possible -- or in my case, until I screamed at them to stop because it hurt. The blood seals up the hole and your body just reabsorbs the remaining blood. Then the incision got infected and I ended up getting really sick for about 6 months or so from my resistance being low. Lots of strep type stuff. Hmmm, maybe all that is why she's the youngest! ) Sorry, I rambled off about me again. Best of luck w/everything.

Kim -- oh the dreaded Chinese food. I swear a person could gain 7 lbs. from eating it. Drink tons of water. I always found Chinese to be loaded w/saltiness -- msg too. Oh, but isn't just fabulous?? I'd wait till next week to weigh in -- might take a few days to flush all the salty/puffy stuff out.

Susan B -- nice going on the physical. One of these days I should get around to having one!

I've been eating OFF PLAN much of the past few weeks. Exercised only 1 so far this week (am dressed in the gear and am planning on going on the TM as soon as I'm done posting here). Weirdly, the scale is still sitting at the same number. Admittedly, last week and the week b/4 I hardly stopped moving from spring cleaning type stuff; mostly outside. I was scrubbing green mold (eewww) off the siding. Lord, the neighbors must think I'm a cleaning freak -- if only they got an eyeful of the inside! The kitchen floor is currently in a "petrie-dish" phase. Must get around to that one of these days! I also must get back OP (on plan) w/the food again. B-fast and lunch are fine. It's the poor snacking in between and munchie stuff at night that's getting to me. Not pig-out horrible stuff, just eating too much of the wrong thing. I was hitting the sugar too much again like you Cammie and was really feeling the tired, lack of energy. Have cut down on it but we have so much munchie stuff in the house -- sometimes it's just hard to say no.

Hubby and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on Wed. I can't believe that much time has gotten in. Oh, and where did we go and what did we do to celebrate? Why, on a college visit! 2 down, 5 more to go. Really don't want to think about Julie going away. Aaaaccckkk, it makes me teary eyed just thinking about her not being here. Didn't she just start 1st grade yesterday?

Welcome all newbies!!!!

Ok, I'd better bolt. Everyone goes back to work/school on Tues but the kids are done school 3 wks. from today. Time seems to be flying faster and faster these days, doesn't it? Talk to ya soon!!!!

Jo
