The 300+ Summer Sweating July Exercise Thread

:welcome:

...To the July exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit, give ourselves some accountability, and get healthier in the process!

In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month
-- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

And you want to jump in, because one of the main reasons to be here is to track how many minutes we exercise as a group! In 2006 we came close to 200,000 minutes. I'd love to see us surpass that goal this year. Here's where we stand!

Jan 19,532 min
Feb 14,818 min
Mar 20,190 min
Apr 18,336 min
May 16,343 min
June 21,703 min
------------
TOT 110,922 MINUTES to date!

We are over halfway there!

Finally, if you're new to this, pay attention to how to add your minutes to the group... people get confused if they can't easily see our new total. I recommend showing the previous total, then your minutes, then the new total (which should be the sum of the other 2 numbers). For example, if the group had done 500 minutes already and you did 30, here's what you would do:

Group total ~ 500 + 30 = 530 minutes

Let's continue to make 2007 great by more moving and shaking!!

luja 06-28-2007 02:08 PM

I'm in for 1200.

Ratkitten 06-28-2007 02:20 PM

Oooops.. it's not July yet! hehe.. Nothing to see here.. just move on!

My aim is 1000 min for July.

Luv,
RK :o

miradoblackwarrior 06-28-2007 03:36 PM

I'll start small, 'cuz I'm getting over a knee injury and haven't done much for a while. How 'bout 150 mins. per week to start. If I commit to you, I've got something to work towards!
Susan

Zeitgeist 06-28-2007 07:05 PM

I'm going to aim for 900 minutes this month.

Heather 06-28-2007 09:00 PM

I think I'm going to keep my goal similar to this month....so, 1240

StormieAngel 06-28-2007 09:25 PM

I am also gonna stick to last months goal of 600. I did not hit it so figure.. try try again. For some reason it is hard for me to do 30 minutes of true exercise a day. *sigh* working on it though.

:carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:

LitChick 06-28-2007 10:22 PM

I'm behind big-time in this month's goal for myself, but I'm going to try again, at least 30 minutes, five times a week, for a monthly goal of 600 minutes.

Vortex_VVV 06-28-2007 11:46 PM

I'm going to shoot for 620 minutes in July. That's 20 minutes a day average.

Xena2005 06-29-2007 08:24 AM

Looks like I am going to make my exercise goal this month! :carrot: First time in a LOOOOOOONG time. So, let me up it a bit for July. I am going go for 650.

dogpal 06-29-2007 08:47 AM

Okay Ladies, I still have 2 days left in June and I am already over goal for June. So, I'll up my goal by 100 minutes to 1600 Minutes for July!

Misti in Seattle 06-29-2007 08:53 AM

Wow I did not even realize the thread was here yet! :) I am going to keep mine at 1200 even though I shot over it. As I said in the June thread I get $$$ points for going over my goal, into my cruise fund so want to keep it doable! LOL I have an Excel chart for June and it is sooooooo nice with all the colored lines... and now my July one is so bare and I have to start it over again LOL.

TheStorySoFar 06-30-2007 07:34 PM

Since I am taking things slow getting back into my routine, I'm going to go for 500 minutes in July. :)

Wings2fly 06-30-2007 11:38 PM

Count me in too! I'm going for 1200 this month. Good luck everyone.

We've got to MOVE it to LOSE it!

SuchaPrettyFace30 07-01-2007 06:28 AM

My Goals

I've been slacking off lately, my goals are to exercise everyday of July. Even if it's just a 30 minute walk, I have to get up and do something everyday. I'm aiming for 1000 minutes. Wish me luck! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!

Misti in Seattle 07-01-2007 08:43 AM

Okay here we go. I am going to start us off with 15 minutes of weight training

Personal total - 15/1200

Group total -= 15

Heather 07-01-2007 09:17 AM

Misti -- A west coaster even getting us started -- you ROCK!!! :D

In case others missed it, we went over 20,000 minutes in June and recorded more minutes than any other month this year (20,288 so far -- there may be some stragglers).

July's a day longer -- how about we beat last month's achievement????? :D

Misti in Seattle 07-01-2007 09:55 AM

 Heather I admit that is why I went ahead and posted my minutes right away instead of waiting until tonight... being a "left coaster" I NEVER get to start off the thread!! But this time I was up early and got it!! Ha! That and the fact that I just could not stand seeing my "empty" Excel July exercise chart after all the pretty lines on the June one! :) It still looks pretty pathetic though... have to get those lines built up!!

It really helps that I am getting so much exercise equipment set up in my living room and don't even have to go to the fitness center to work in a few minutes!

Yay on our breaking the record!!!

Xena2005 07-01-2007 12:19 PM

Heather - I am up to doing my part to beat our June exercise minutes...I have upped my personal goal from 600 to 650 for July. Not much, but every bit helps, right? :)

Walked my little poochie for 30 minutes this morning.

GROUP TOTAL 15 + 30 = 45

(WOW, I don't think I've ever posted this early in the thread!)

Obsidianbbw 07-01-2007 12:20 PM

ok, trying some new stuff so 20 min abs video and 40 min pilates. I thought since I do all this cardio and weights the pilates would be smooth sailing. I had to modify the beginner modifcation, LOL

GROUP TOTAL 45+ 60 = 105

Realist 07-01-2007 01:16 PM

My effort for the day so far.

Personal total - 40/600

Group total = 105 +40 = 145

Yahoo!!

Vortex_VVV 07-01-2007 01:19 PM

33 minutes walking for me. Just about too hot for it today... I'm going to really have to think about indoor exercise strategies for July if I'm going to meet my goal.

Group total: 145 + 33 = 178

Ratkitten 07-01-2007 08:10 PM

20 min treadmill and 45 min DDR = 65

65/1000 = personal

Group Total 178 + 65 = 243

SunShineGirl23 07-01-2007 09:45 PM

Im in for 600 :)

Misti in Seattle 07-01-2007 09:48 PM

Adding 97 more today -- 77 minutes water aerobics and 20 mins weight balls.

Well since I am the last poster I am going to edit this to add another 30 minutes... 15 each of weight balls and weight bands. I found the NEATEST "light" but effective exercise I can do with the weight bands to strengthen my legs AND arms, and I also think it will be helpful to stretch my pulled muscle. Just lie in bed and wrap a weight band around my foot/feet and raise and lower arms/feet while stretching the band. I feel I am getting a super combination now of cardio and weight training.

Personal total = 142/1200

Group total = 243 + 97 = 370

StormieAngel 07-02-2007 03:45 AM

20 minutes of sweaty rearranging ( and late spring cleaning.. still on that declutter kick..lol).

personal 20/600

group total 370 + 20=390

Xena2005 07-02-2007 07:56 AM

45 minutes on the treadmill.

GROUP TOTAL 390 + 45 = 435

Obsidianbbw 07-02-2007 09:13 AM

45 Cardio 50 Weights
Group Total 435 + 95=530

AmmiUK 07-02-2007 10:22 AM

Well I am glad that I sweat from working out because with the type of summer we've been having so far, torrential rains, and cold weather, I might feel a little wrong posting under the subject title of this thread LOL. But anyway sweat I will definitely do from working out, and this month I am aiming on doing 1500 minutes!

So to get me started:

Personal Goal: 60/1500

Group Total: 530 + 60 = 590

toofatforu 07-02-2007 12:23 PM

590+30=620
my only goal is to get in at least 30 minutes a day on treadmill as much as possible

Vortex_VVV 07-02-2007 02:36 PM

23 minutes for me today... it was cool enough to walk outside, hurray!

Group total: 620 + 23 = 643

Wings2fly 07-02-2007 04:35 PM

I walked for 45 minutes and went to the gym for my upper body workout this morning. I LOVE my tiny town mini-gym!!! (there's usually just me and 1-3 other people there and we gab and gab the whole time - too much fun!)

Personal Goal: 90/1200

Group Total: 643 + 45 + 45 = 733

NotTheCheat 07-02-2007 05:34 PM

Well, I am about to head out to the gym, but I wanted to put myself down for 1200 minutes this month. I really want to kick things back up!

TheStorySoFar 07-02-2007 06:27 PM

Went to the market this morning for 45min.:

Group total ~ 733 + 45 = 778

Ratkitten 07-02-2007 07:54 PM

10 min bike to work, 10 min DDR

Group total = 778 + 20 = 798

NotTheCheat 07-02-2007 08:47 PM

60 minutes at the gym on the elliptical, hill level 6.

The group total is now 798 + 60 = 858

LitChick 07-02-2007 09:46 PM

30 minutes of walking today:

Group Total: 858 + 30 = 888

SunShineGirl23 07-02-2007 10:30 PM

30 min walk for me today :)

888+30=918

Heather 07-02-2007 10:53 PM

I'm getting a late start for July, but hubby and I walked downtown and hung out at a coffee shop and walked back. It's about 1 1/2 mi ea way, and 65 min total.

Group total ~ 918 + 65 = 983 min

Day 2 and nearly 1000 minutes! I hope we beat last month's record -- in fact, I'd love to see us hit 22,000 min! (so far for last month we're at 21,703!)

Misti in Seattle 07-03-2007 01:48 AM

Only 25 mins for me today

Personal total =- 167/1200

Group total = 983 + 25 = 1008
