Metachick - I always thought it was just TwoTown, but whatever it is it's still a wonderful place to be

Brenda - that's fab news about your first paid photography job, the first of many I am sure

Hope you get to drink all the water you can today to flush that nasty old salt away

Patti - well at least you had the energy to exercise, that's the important thing. Housework can wait!

Hugs,

Ammi

Lesley, I did Tai'Chi too, though I had problems with childcare so I had to stop, BUT I'm useless at dance & remembering steps though the teacher helped us loads, it was really FUN and RELAXING & oddly energising too! Enjoy it!xxxx
I've picked up the germ my boys had last week, my throat is so sore, thank goodness I'm on liquids, lol! Not many coughs, just a raw throat & feeling hea-achey & feeble. Poor Aiden has been aasleep on the settee all afternoon, so I watched Grey's Anatomy I'd taped, LOVELY!! No housework, haha....Steve WILL be impressed, NOT!!!
Brenda, I love Aerosmith, they are so sexy, but could you walk down the street looking like that, or walk WITH them looking like they do??? lol Hope you both have fun there.xxxx
Annie, WOWEEE!!! You are wasting away, hope you're taking pics as it will change your body SO FAST being on liquids!!xxxxxx
Gotta go chat to Ammi, she's waiting online.

Well, my WI is usually Thursday, and curiosity killed the cat, but something told me to get on the scale this morning, even though I only planned to measure myself for some new jeans. I am officially back in TWO-terville (well, a few pounds below the mark, heh)!

I am going to start stepping up the workout a little, increasing exercise from 20 to 30 minutes and two mile walks to three in May. I feel an incredible difference already just in the past six weeks since surgery. Who would have though in early March when I could barely move and on crutches I would progress this far?

Right now I need to break up Feline Championship Wrestling before two of my cats kill each other.

I'm VERY unmotivated right now. I did SO well with my calorie counting and exercise last week....and not only did I NOT lose..I GAINED. I'm now 354. This is really making me not even want to TRY! But I will. Going back on the Beach, for the most part, today. I'm still going to have my Special K in the morning, because it's the only thing that fills me up in the morning. It's a new week....-sigh-

I am at a loss, and need the help of all you ladies. I was explaining to my husband that when alcoholics get sober, they have to find other ways to celebrate than going out and drinking. They celebrate or commiserate with alcohol. I have always done the same with food. Birthdays, or holidays or celebrations always meant parties with lots of food. I’ve also always treated myself to food when feeling bad or disappointed. We want to do something to celebrate my landing, and I am getting sick at the thought of having another party. I want to celebrate, but not sabotage myself. We are trying to figure out how to have a party with friends and not blow myself up. I feel at a total loss, and thought maybe you guys might have some ideas.

Lesley-I have made Southern biscuits and gravy for himself, and he eat it every day if I let him. In Oklahoma we make it with sausage instead of bacon. His eyes actually dilated and glazed over. My muscles are starting to feel better. The still ache, but at least I can move them. I haven’t felt like this since the start of high school basketball practices. A big congratulations on reaching the Two’s. I am jealous.

Ammi-He only publishes obscure academic stuff. The kind of stuff they make you buy for college polsci classes, and then never read. His orders come from things like legislative libraries, so he publishes maybe 2-3 books a year. He mostly follows me around while I’m trying to do housework, or sits on the phone and computer. You have made me really want to see the Star Trek Experience. I’ll have to get out my costume, and see how much altering it needs. That’s in our time zone, and a quick trip, so I think it would definitely be doable.

Donna-I definitely didn’t feel in control yesterday. The second that I let down my guard, and think I am in charge, the food demon lets me know I am wrong. I also think it is a combination of the stress of waiting another 9 days for my landing interview.

Xena-If you go to the Grand Canyon, you’ll have to try the new bridge. It is a big circle that goes right out over the canyon, and has a glass bottom. I’d get vertigo, and they’d have to tie a rope around me to pull me off it, but you might like it.

Brenda-I wouldn’t mind having WKRP dvd either. I heard that the music will be different because they didn’t get the right kind of royalty set up when it aired, and would have had to pay for each song so much that they wouldn’t have made any money on the discs. They are actually losing money on most of the old series they are putting out, and only making money on the newer ones like CSI or 24. I used to do wedding photography. I ended up losing half the prints from the first one. I guess with digital photography that happens less. My best advice is to get the family shots before they moms and dads have been into the liquor.

Annie-It sounds like the test was a success. I’ll bet this is going to make a huge difference for you.

Nancy-congratulations on slaying the bakery demon.

Jill-At least it sounds like you are trying to plan to succeed rather than just leaving it to fate.

Emily-Think of what a good example you will set for not only your patients, but also your co-workers as you continue to lose weight and get healthier.

Toofat-finally! I’ll bet you were seriously tired of being sick. Those lingering things can just drive you nuts.

Peggy-Long road trips are like that for me too. I automatically want to eat the whole way. I don’t know if it is boredom, nervousness, or just ingrained habits. I can’t even hear the name stuckys without wanting to eat.

Kayley-the same thing happened to me. I worked hard all week, too hard actually, and gained 3 pounds. It just makes me want to throw things through windows.

Hello everyone!!! Just a fly-by! It was a busy weekend, but I have a vegetable garden! I was just so tickled, and still am! I planted, pole beans, cantalope, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, turnips, lettuce, spinach, basil, oregano, rosemary and of course, flowers I've still got onions, cucumbers, black beans and swiss chard to go! Worked my tail off this weekend!

Catherine, maybe you could arrange some kind of "out" party, like bowling or a park or a play or something - something everyone likes to do? Otherwise I'm kind of stumped - social occasions like dinner parties or parties in general are always my "fat" day where I overdo. Always.

to those with losses - Lesley - to TWO-terville! Big - Big to those struggling! DON'T GIVE UP!!! And a to everyone else!!! Got to run!

Hi Everyone,
I think I'm back. My hubby has lost almost 60 pounds doing no processed carbs. I gotta get my act together. I can't let him beat me ya know.
Today I've been good food wise and I have things down for tomorrow already on fitday.com. I hope all of you are well and I'll start with personals next time I log on. Gotta go, I'll check in later.

Catherine - That's definately how I felt today...and I wanted to go and binge on something like pizza and ice cream....but I didn't. I have 25 days until I go down to a concert, and I have to lose as much as I can before then. -sigh-

Lilion - Good luck with the vegetable garden! I had one with my Mom last year, and we ended having more than we could even eat, so a LOT went to waste! We're much better with the fruits...cuz we LOVE fruit! We (well she, since I moved out) grow strawberries, watermelon, 3 kinds of blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, pears, and she got some apple trees finally this year. YUM!

Sandy - Good to see you back! Definately can't let hubby beat you! But big CONGRATS to him for losing 60 lbs! That's fantastic!!!

Well, ladies, as I mentioned above, I avoided the urge to binge on bad stuff....I just have to remember that even if I was up this week, if I binge, I'll be up even MORE next week, and I don't want THAT to happen! I'm going (mostly) back onto a lower carb diet. Going to have my Special K red berries cereal in the AM, and have either low carb/slimfast bars or shakes for my lunches, and a low carb sensible dinner. Tonight, I'm making alfredo chicken with broccoli. Should be good, and NO noodles! I'm going to head to Walmart, so I can pick up a pair of pliers. My license plates expire tomorrow, and I have to put the new ones on, but the bolts are RUSTED on. Ugh. I also got the thing in the mail to renew my license...since I'll be turning 21 in June. I really had hoped to be at goal by then, but I guess not. I HATE getting my license photo taken...at least you don't have to have your weight on them in Michigan! I'm off to good old Wally World...

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Ammi: I love the Ebay 'Buy It Now" feature...when I saw that I was outbid and the tapes were going above $30.00,I searched the buy it now section for
them and bought them without having to bid. Turns out I only paid $20.00 with shipping and handeling for the dvd's. So the dope that outbid me got ripped off!!! I was also really ticked about Jordan...I think she should win!!!

Lesley: enjoy your stay in TwoTown...Onederland is not that far away!!

Catherine: I know what you can do when you get your passport...go to the border and stand with one foot in the USA and one in Canada!! Then you can start dancing and singing, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah!!!
I really hate that food demon, he usually shows up when I get home at 3pm. We have to find his kryptonite!!!

Once again, things are being shook up at work. Our Principal came to me to tell me he is retiring as of Wednesday!! He said he got a great settlement, but he has to leave then. I am so sick of this witch of a Superintendant that runs our schools. She has been gunning for this man for a long time. He wont be allowed back on the property, even for Graduation. It's a shame she wont let him finish out the year. I am really worried as to who will be replacing him.

Also, I got a call from my niece that their 10 year old Dalmation died this morning. She said he wasn't himself lately, but they thought he had a stomach bug. The took him to the vet last night, and by this morning he had passed. The vet didn't even know what was wrong w/him. They weren't giving him the recalled food, so they know that wasn't it. So sad.
It's always something, isn't it!??

Off to start dinner since Doug has to go in early...
Have a great OP night!

Sharon - I hope you are feeling a bit better now. I know that the CD is nutritionally balanced and all, but do you think you will be more susceptible to germs now that you aren't eating normal food?

LAnne - well done on losing more lbs Yes you have come along way in just 6 weeks. Imagine how you will feel when it's 6 months post surgery!!

Kayley - well done on not giving it to the urge to pig out after you weighed and saw that you had a gain. You are absolutely right in your thinking that if you did pig out you'd just end up gaining even more by the time you weigh next time. Besides there's no way it's a 'fat' gain that you had, just a bit of fluid retention or something.

Catherine - hmm, a way to celebrate that doesn't involve eating. Well in Australia when you become a citizen they present you with a jar of Vegemite and everybody says the Australian Anthem. That just gives me the idea of you having some kind of Canadian themed event, with Canadian flags, and perhaps taking part in some Canadian past time. You don't have to have any food there, but if you wanted to, maybe some low fat snacks to nibble on. The one who would be able to help you with the perfect idea is Chimichanga, she has some brilliant party ideas!!

OK it's official I am green with envy, that's so great that you can go to Vegas in a day, and you can do the Star Trek Experience. What is your Trekkie costume like? I said when I lose weight and we go back for to Vegas for our wedding vow renewal I might be tempted to dress like Uhura so Daren and I can do the Star Trek theme

I'm sorry that you had a gain on the scales this week despite all your hard work. Like I said to Kayley about her gain though, it can't have been a 'fat' gain, so that's what you need to focus on

Patti - those fat cells are a real pain in the butt aren't they. Shame we can't get rid of them without that torture device liposuction

Lilion - great news about your vegetable garden, how great for you to have lovely home grown vegetables!

Sandy - glad to see you posting again

Donna - I like the buy it now feature on Ebay too. Unfortunately I rarely find what I really want on the buy it now section. It's crazy how people get hooked on bidding and carry on bidding even though they are going way over the odds on the item. Sometimes they even pay more than what they would if they bought it brand new!!

I'm sorry your Principal is getting such a rough deal, that sucks that he won't even be allowed on the premises anymore not even for Graduation. Why does that woman have it in for him?

Such a shame too about your nieces dalmation dying, I hope your niece and her family will be OK.

Heroes is starting so I better run, I doubt I'll be back later, so goodnight and I'll 'see' you all tomorrow.

Hugs,

Ammi

Donna - Good deal you got!! I love Ebay, and I try to find the buy it now's usually...so much more convenient, and I've usually gotten the better deal that way. I'm sorry to hear about your neice's dalmation. That's so sad.

Ammi - Here's to hoping! Or maybe muscle gain? Haha...I doubt it, though, since I haven't been able to do my strength training in about a week. The finger still bugs me too much. Still swelled up, but the bruising is starting to finally go down. I sent you a message about why I quit my job...finally! lol. My finger was feeling up to it.

Well, I'm off to Walmart, because I got distracted, and then wrote a paper for one of my classes, because I finally found a good source. I have so much schoolwork to do tonight, I doubt I'm going to make it to the gym, but I plan to at least take a walk this evening. I'll be back later...

Is it a matter of just getting a little weary of the full mental and physical commitment of 'weight loss mode', maybe old habits creeping back in? I am still full steam ahead, but I know from the past that the experience of lost weight and a changing body *will* morph as the process continues. I want to be ready for everything.
Metachick -- you should definitely read the maintainers' forum. I completely know what you mean when you say you want to be ready for everything -- that's how I've felt since I found 3fc!

As for your question... it's not so much of being "weary" of the commitments, though that definitely plays a role. When I started I was very committed and was able to say "no" to lots of foods, esp on special occasions. I knew, however, that I didn't want to do that forever, and I do let myself eat foods I didn't the first year or so I was doing this. I'm also not really actively trying to lose weight right now (except the couple of pounds that creeped on!), which makes it easier to indulge from time to time.

In other ways, I really have made a sustainable lifestyle change. Even now, when things are so busy, I bring my lunch and snacks to work each day. I do overeat, but sometimes it's on healthy food! I have kept my commitment to regular exercise, even if it's not as much as I would like right now.

I guess my biggest struggle is just fitting it all in. The grocery shopping, cooking, exercise and food packing take a while. I haven't slipped back into really bad habits -- yet -- but I am not naive enough to think it can't happen!

And I am indulging a little too often, too... sometimes because of stress, sometimes because of an occasion, sometimes because of lack of planning. Anyone of those would probably be okay, but all three.. not so much.

Catherine -- An event with music or maybe dancing would keep the focus off food. Or an outdoor event. Or a gamed focused event... That's all I've got!!

Kayley, Are you taking I-65 to Noblesville?? If so, you'll be within 8 miles of my house. At least I think 8 miles, maybe 10. When is the concert? I hope you have a blast!!

Lilion, Your garden sounds so good and fun! I know gardening is hard work, but it's still so much fun. I hope you have a successful season.

Catherine, I like the dance idea of the get together. Sometimes we get together to play cards. Can't eat and hold cards can we? They'd get all messy. Whatever you chose, I know you'll have a wonderful time. Maybe you could have your husband read some of the posts here to see what a hard time people have at parties where food this the main way something is celebrated.
Donna, That woman is just evil. How are the students taking the news? Maybe they could get a petetion going to take to here to allow the principal attend graduation. She'd look really bad if she didn't allow him there if the students wanted him there. Just a thought.
Off to finish dinner. Baked fish and veggies!

Emily: I think you will be such a wonderful nurse at any size!

Patti: Glad you are feeling better

Peggy: Good girl staying OP

Lesley: Congrats on getting under 300! Way to go!

Ammi: Yep, I earned a new charm for my bracelet!

Brenda: How fun to be a photographer for a wedding!

Sharon: Thanks hun. Hope your cold goes bye bye soon.

LeeAnnC: Congrats getting into the 2's

Catherine: Maybe a Costume party and dress like your ancestors with games and dancing and veggies!

Kayley: Hugs. Hang in there.

Sandy: Glad to see you back.

Donna: Hope things at school get straightened up soon.

Well, I am so tired today I am in a funk. I know I have no reason to be and I truly think I am just not getting enough sleep. I did well on my weigh in today loosing 10 pounds! I was chatting with Ammi on line and got a phone call from a job that I applied for. They wanted me to come down and fill out an application. While I was there they had me take a test too. Before I did that the interviewer told me that they really want/need someone who knows the city better than I do. So, I am not holding my breath for that job. I really don't want to get a serious job right now until I am feeling better but I feel like I better for our finances sake. lol.

Blessing to you all,
Annie
